UPDATE- Please disregard one and two star ratings on authors. As you have seen; Goodreads has been working diligently to remove spam ratings. How can you tell a spam rating you ask? Easy; normally this individual will not have an image associated with their GR identifier. They may have entered ratings on a little as 20 books or as high as 100 however the overall rating they have given to the books they list; is less than three stars. What you don't see are the emails and messages sent to the writers from unknown sources that threaten bad reviews unless a fee is paid, free books are sent, etc.

Hat's off to this site for attempting to get in front of the issue. While an author might only have one annoying bad rating; the site is investigating hundreds of these ratings. Please remain patient and don't let a spammer dissuade you from reading a good book!

I was initially very worried when I started Nowhere on the Map. The book started out with a steamy sex scene between our hero and another woman. I took it as a couple in love that were happy together. So I wasn't really eager for Jon to meet someone else. Additionally, I was extremely nervous it was going to be a whole love triangle situation.

The early chapters were a bit slow for me. I felt a little bored by all the description. I also found it weird both characters described themselves after looking in a mirror. Then they described each other when they met. Some of the information was exactly what I was given a few chapters ago too.

After Jon and Maggie meet, then the story unfolds and is much better. They didn't have an insta love relationship, which I really appreciated. They had to build a friendship, then a romantic partnership. That was a really nice change of pace. I liked it that Maggie wasn't throwing herself at him left and right. She made him respect her. I liked it that Jon acted like an actual guy rather than what we as women hope men would act like. They were realistic people who had a slow burn, sexy relationship.

The drama with the other woman wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be too. I was totally on board with Maggie and Jon and approved of them as a couple. I just needed to get past the initial hump in the beginning and then I really started diving deep into the story. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

Caroline Walken's Nowhere on the Map is a small town romance with a mystery. What begins as a fish out of water story -- big city cop Jon has to visit the small town of Hawk Ridge to visit his ailing aunt -- turns into a true romance when the hero falls for the town's sweetheart, Maggie Lewis. At first, I thought the focus would be entirely on their romance, especially since there are quite a few obstacles in their path (Maggie's abandonment issues, Jon's "girlfriend" back home, the fact that he belongs in Cincinnati), but the two of them are together by the midway part of the book.

And that's when the mystery begins. With Jon holding a temporary position on the small police force in town, he gets involved with a years-old cold case of a murdered boy; Maggie, the daughter and sister to cops, is trying to help. But the mystery is not what it seems, and death and mayhem follows in their path as a practiced killer does what they must to protect their secrets.

Ms. Walken really brought her characters and the small town to life. She has an excellent grasp on building up emotions, setting the scene, and making the reader experience her story. I love the little details about everyone, especially the reveal that Maggie is also a romance author. Definitely not what Jon was expecting!

I did not see the ending coming at all. Even though there were a few clues dropped early in the book that I realized later, it was still a surprise to see who the perpetrator was. The final climax had me worried, but all's well that ends well -- Nowhere on the Map has its happy ending!

"Nowhere on the Map" by Caroline Walken
Erotic Fiction.

Okay ladies, let's lay it down. Some times words are all the porn you need. So gather a few copies of "Nowhere on the Map," and wrap them in lusty red for your friends who could use a good read.

For the romance lovers in your life who can take steamy heat. This novel serves up spicy portions of sultry scenes, amidst a mystery needing to be solved.

I wouldn't gift this to my mother (aka GILF) but I WOULD share a copy with my gal pals! I bought mine on Kindle for Mac, so I can read it on my iPad or MacBook... late at night... or on the subway.. Please don't tell my mother!

This is definitely a steamy tale! I enjoyed the mystery and plot twists between Maggie and Jon. There’s something humbling about coming home to a place you barely remember. Even more so when you find something intriguing that hadn’t been there before, whether that’s a cold case or a woman. I liked the interactions with Lana and Derrick. Not for the prude at heart!

Engaging romantic suspense

Nowhere on the Map by Caroline Walken was hard to put down but easy to read in a couple of hours - so win-win. Likable characters, an awesome romance, and a suspenseful mystery. The author captured the essence of a small town really well and the romance between Jon and Maggie had both its sweet moments and its hot moments. I enjoyed it.

Great read!

Nowhere on the Map provides a nice escape. The characters are well-developed, & there's a good balance of action & romance. Thanks also for making the love scenes tasteful but leaving the reader a bit short of breath!

A small town romance with big heart.
This story develops really well the two main characters, Maggie and Jon. Both characters are welled fleshed out and extremely likeable - and real.
I really enjoyed the small town aspect and the way families come together made me wish I lived somewhere like that.
A bit of murder/mystery is entwined in this sometimes steamy romance.
I have to say the amount of steam was just perfect, ie not over the top, just enough so that it compliments the love story and isn't a book written for 'steam' sake.
A really nice book to curl up with over the weekend.

This is my first time reading this author. It captured me in the first few pages but then I started getting confused. The story and the characters are good but I found it hard to follow as it kept changing between the characters perspectives a lot.

I have really enjoyed the books by Caroline Walken, they are not the same-old-thing when it comes to romance books.

Nowhere on the Map is steamy! The greatest part is that it is not just about that, there is a story of a young woman trying to find her way in the world. The man she meets is coming to terms with things in his lift too and they both find each other.

There is more, an unsolved murder of a young boy left a mark on a small town. They review the evidence and that brings the person responsible out of the shadows. There are twists and unexpected turns in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
