Jacques Pépin (born December 18, 1935) is a French-born American chef, author, culinary educator, television personality, and artist. Since the late 1980s, he has appeared on American television and has written for The New York Times, Food & Wine and other publications. He has authored over 30 cookbooks, some of which have become best sellers. Pépin was a longtime friend of the American chef Julia Child, and their 1999 PBS series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home won a Daytime Emmy Award. He has been honored with 24 James Beard Foundation Awards, five honorary doctoral degrees, the American Public Television’s lifetime achievement award, the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2019 and the Légion d'honneur, France's highest order of merit in 2004. --Wikipedia

This little cookbook makes me happy!

I normally like cookbooks that offer a wide selection of different recipes rather than specializing in a specific category. I really enjoyed this cookbook because it gave such detailed, well-written instructions and comments about how to successfully execute the dishes. These are simple techniques and the ingredient lists were short and flavorful.

I made the Crusty Chicken Thighs and Mushrooms and they all loved it. And they don’t like mushrooms!

I also was pleasantly surprised by the Pepin’s drawings - I had no idea that he was also a painter.

I picked this book up because I saw the cover illustration. I'm so glad I did! There are some amazing recipes. I have tried one and have fallen in love with it. If you like French cuisine this has some great chicken recipes and my vegetarian friends loved the bean dish I recently made from this book!!!

C’est bon

The chicken recipes are outstanding. Using cognac in a sauce for many receipesisafavoritebecause of the added flavor. Cauliflower recipes are new , interesting and anxious to try. A good read!

Recipes are questionable. I gave it such a good rating because (even though normally it's give a recipe book horrible ratings for this) I loved the art work...they were not pictures of the dish (which is a pet peeve of mine in recipe books). These pictures added to the charm of the book.

Love Jacques Pepin's recipes they are simple concise and delicious. I thoroughly enjoy reading through these recipes since I cook a lot of Poulet and Legumes at my house.

A compilation of recipes for chicken and vegetables gathered from other cookbooks and writing of Chef Pépin. The recipes are uncomplicated. If you’ve ever watched any of this chefs videos (see Facebook), then you will recognize that he writes his recipes just like he speaks. It makes the recipe seem so much more personal, approachable, and do-able.
