A voice from the past cries out for help and Corey finds himself reunited with the only woman who'd ever rocked his world straight off the axis. But twelve years is a long time apart. Both of them have moved on, but, tragically, Angela is no longer the lighthearted woman he once knew and loved.

Caught in a nasty divorce and custody battle, Angela will do anything to keep her son with her. After seven years of a rocky marriage, she's only just beginning to figure out what kind of a man her husband truly is.

Angela makes it clear to Corey she doesn't want or need his help. She's got her own insurance to secure her case. But Corey is determined to shield his old flame anyway because she doesn't seem to realize her "insurance" is more than likely to get her dead sooner rather than later. Given that Corey's up against a man with no intention of letting his son go, it's a race to see who ends up in a casket first.

No one is more surprised than Corey when he gets a call from his high school girlfriend. She asks to meet for lunch and Corey agrees. Once they settled in and ordered she decides she's made a mistake and leaves, in spite of Corey's efforts to get her to stay and talk.

Angela thinks she's made a mistake going to Corey, they have a lot of history between them and with her current problem it didn't seem right.
Now Corey's interest is peaked and he finally gets in touch with his sister who informs him Angela is missing.

It wasn't hard to get Mason to help and he agreed Warrick could join him as back up. Finding Angela becomes a priority when they find her apartment had been broken into and trashed.

Not surprising, Corey's sister had the answers he needed to find her and some revelations about Angela's situation. Corey had no idea she had married and had a child, and her circumstances now stem from her soon to be ex.

Angela has somewhat settled in her Aunt's lakeside cabin. Forewarned that Corey and Warren were coming to help her, she isn't surprised when they show up although she wasn't sure what they could do for her.

There is a lot going on in this book, between the photos Angela copied, the fight to get her son back, and of course the attraction she has with Corey.

Warren was a steady force in this one as well. Even though he was dealing with his recent break-up. He's the one who recognized the 'Keeper' aspect of the interactions between Corey and Angela.

I loved the slow build to the relationship in the middle of the emotions and angst of the investigation. The love and support of Corey truly helps her keep it together as her almost ex turns up the heat.

When Corey finds out from his sister that his ex-girlfriend is missing, he will stop at nothing to help find her. Running from death threats, Angela hides from everyone, while trying to figure out how to get her son Joshua back from his dangerous father. The police won’t help her, so who will? This is a great book. I loved how Corey’s friend Warrick was willing to give up his holidays to help him. These books keep getting better and better.

This is Fantastic!

I found this book to be intense but yet heartwarming. Corey is a man that doesn’t hold onto bad memories but he still wonders what could have been. Angela is a strong resilient woman who has learned that love can happen twice.

I loved the may twists this story went through. As usual, the SEAL Team is a family that looks out for their own and this story isn’t any different. Warrick is a great addition to this story, lending his knowledge, strength and his compassion to Angela’s situation.

I really enjoyed the details that come into play when gathering evidence to put the bad guy in jail and secure a frightened child. There are some very intense situations that keep you on the edge which makes for a very exciting story! I couldn’t put this book down. I loved every bit of it!

It’s that distant past that needs forgiveness to forge a new present and future.

It’s our past that comes back to revisit us and brings up beautiful and painful memories. Even at home, when not on assignment, trouble can come from a completely unexpected source. A distant past that comes in the form a your first love.

Time distance, perspective and a Navy Seal career have given Corey insight and experience. Yet, he will be floored when Angela turns up out of the blue and leaves just as quick. Corey wants to know why and what’s going on with Angela. He sees fear in her demeanor. They will need to work together, to fight an pending ex-husband hellbent on killing Angela and taking their son because of vital information she gained. They will also need to find their rightful place in each other’s lives, to forgive a past, to forge a future - for the moment, the priority is a young boy in the hands of a controlling, very angry man.

I can’t say Angela was my very favourite of heroines as a love interest for Corey - she had to grow on me. She was fabulous as a mother in trouble, at her wits end and on the run from her controlling husband… to find any way possible to get her son back. Obviously it was a friendship, I felt there was more dialogue and connection with Warrick than with Corey. That could be their past and the vital importance of being focused on getting back a child into his mother’s care… it felt at times, that Angela was ambivalent towards Corey and his career… which not everyone loves or can comprehend the enormity of military life but it’s Corey’s life and it’s that very career that will save her and her son.

Then the whys and motivations for the blackmailing by Angela’s ex, are never revealed? It can’t just pure blackmail for money and greed. Not when he would have had so much to gain along with his property deals along with his underhanded tactics/murder.

I think it was that I wanted more to Corey and Angela’s story. As a novella, it’s a beautifully paced story, as it unfolds its intrigue and suspense. It’s patience and love being rekindled, learning to trust again, when it comes to matters of the heart and just let love develop when the time is right.

Dale delivers a page-turning sweet drama, intrigue and action - with COREY. Highly recommended for those that love military based heroes and the women that capture their attention and love. It’s always wonderful to have team members when you need help. Not only are they a team, they are family and will have your back no matter what. You also gain wonderful insight into Warrick… I’m looking forward to this gentleman, kindhearted man, who can be deadly when that moment is called upon. I can’t wait.

SEALS of Honor- Corey

This was an amazing suspenseful action packed love story in the SEALS of Honor series with Corey reconnecting with his first love from twelve years ago, Angela his sister Bridget's best friend as well. She called him to meet her because she needed his help but then backed down without asking him which was a mistake. Corey and Warrick tracked her down at her aunt's cabin because she was on the run from her abusive husband who took their son and would not let her see him. She told pictures of incriminating photos and now he wanted them back even trying to kill her. With the help from Mason, Tesla , Levi and the police detective they solve the mystery of who the photos were taken and , spread sheets and account ni!best that she had copied. It was exciting as Corey and Warrick had to keep fighting off assassins protecting Angela until they could prove what all the information meant and try to warn the people in those pictures as well. At the same time Corey and Angela were falling back in love after all the time that they were apart they matured and became better people. It came to an exciting point when her son called when his father had put him in the truck of a car and then drugged him. Everyone working together the SEALs, , Levi and the police pinged his phone that they had him leave on and located him before it was too late saving his lofe. I'm the end the police put her corrupt husband in jail and Corey, Angela and Joshua became a loving family. I cannot wait to read Warrick's story in the next book in this fantastic series.

Once again, Dale Mayer has been able to create a fresh and action packed episode of this series.
The story is a spin on the classic abused wife / controlling husband theme. However, the presence of the Seals, their close knit friendship, and the celebration of their life values give a warm touch to the narration.
The team investigative skills and their actions, even when off duty, are the focus of the book. Everything else, including the difficult life situation with which they deal with, remain a little in the background, giving a tone of lightness to the story.
Corey is the leading male character, a full fledged member of the Seals team. His athletic abilities and his military background are not the most evident traits of his personality - instead, the author focuses on his intelligence, and on his warm and generous disposition.
Angela’s character is a little unsettling. Spoiled and indecisive at the beginning, brisk and almost rude towards the men coming to her rescue, she grows into a strong, resilient and loving persona as the story evolves.
A cameo gem is the character of Joshua, Angela’s son, a bright, resilient and funny little boy that quickly captivates the reader.
Overall, Cory is an action packed, easy to read, entertaining book that will surely meet the expectations of the numerous fans of this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

OH. MY. GOODNESS. What a story! A stunning new installment in Dale Mayer's SEALS of Honor series that brought intense action, a compelling plot..one that is an all time favorite of mine, with a hell of a DROOL/SIGH/SWOON worthy hero and an amazingly strong heroine who wants nothing more than her son to be with her and forever safe. Oh how I fell for this type of romance. It was exciting, gave me all sorts of great feels, and gave me one heck of a HUGE crush on Corey. I loved that I felt on the edge with all the intense action. It was exciting, irresistible, sexy, sweet, fierce, and just AMAZING!

One of my favorite things about Dale Mayer that I love, is the way she can create a story that has the BEST mix of suspense and romance and still make the hero a..well hero! The heroes are always great, but Corey...hot damn...if I could choose just ONE of these SEALS as my own, I would pick Corey in a FREAKING HEARTBEAT! I loved how he is with Angela. When she tried pushing him away, he stood firm and showed her that she could trust him, that he cared about her and wanted to protect her and her son and show her the love she deserved. Even though I know these SEALS are dreamy, it still managed to surprise me with the way Corey was with Angela. It made my crush turn into lust for this incredible hero!

I give Corey a CAN-I-KEEP-HIM-FOREVER-AND-EVER FIVE BRIGHT SHOOTING STARS!

This is the 15th book of the series.

If you want to read more about what the book is about please read the blurb above these reviews.

A word of warning, its been a few months since I've read this book, but am just getting around to doing the book review now.

When our hero tells his commanding officer about his past girlfriend when he heard from her again out of the blue and they met up. However, when his sister and this past girlfriend never return his phone calls, he starts to get worried. However, his sister does call him back eventually, but he's still worried about his ex. When he asks his sister, who is also her best friend, about her he gets even more concerned. When he mentions this to his sister, she tells him his ex has now gone missing. He jumps up to act not only because she was his ex but he never wanted to end the relationship.

Our heroine doesn't know where to turn. She wants her child but is afraid for both of their safety. She's tried to turn to her ex but is afraid of his reaction when he finds out she had a child without him. So she doesn't say anything to him and heads out of town to hide. However, she eventually caves and goes to our hero.

I found both the hero and heroine likable and down to earth. You could imagine this situation happening to someone who goes after someone who isn't that rich. You can imagine any soldier who lives by their oath would help this type of mother out.

A suspense second chance romance packed with actions and of course I loveeeee it.
Angela and Corey share some tragic past, and now years later Angela's in deep trouble, and Corey jump in willingly to help Angela, like what they say "first love is never forgotten" so yeah all the sparks years ago is starting to comeback, but they need to focus to keep Angela save first before they pick up where they left off.
First love mix in with crazy ruthless soon-to-be ex-husband, yep it sure has interesting story that I can't put it down.
There's weird facts, but all the tension and all the actions that got me on edge, I kinda don't care with all the flaws.

As for characters, I loveeeee Corey, he oozes confidence and not afraid to admit his feelings towards Angela, he said what he wants and go after it.
And Angela, I like this girl, I can feel her struggles and her pains.
I like this couple, love all the sweet interactions, wished more though, because I feel like their relationship happened too fast.

If you love suspense romance, this one is definitely a MUST-READ.

A 3.5-star review.

As a start, I’m not a big fan of second chance love story. Too many baggage and misunderstanding, usually. However, if the overall story was intriguing, especially in RS novels where I expect the suspense was more prominent than the romance, I always give it a try. This was one of those books that I’m willing to give it a try.

Now, the second chance love story itself was OK. Nothing over-the-top. Their separation was understandable. They were just kids. Now they’re both different persons from twelve years ago. Yet, they remained had history, and Corey was willing to help, no matter the cost.

As other SEALs of Honor books, this one was also a fast read, fast paced, straight to the point, and full of action. Dale Mayer satisfied her fans with that particular formula. However, I had this feeling of unfulfilled answers. I might missed the subtext somewhere, but I found that there were things that unclear to me, especially the legal issues. Also, I found the stories in this series got repetitive.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

Dale Mayer is a great, go-to author for military romance, so I was glad to get an advance copy of this book to read. I loved Corey's story! He’s a wonderful hero – tough and smart with a huge heart – and who doesn’t love a second chance romance? Corey gets his second chance with his high school sweetheart, Angela, when she asks to meet him. But before Corey can find out why she wanted to see him, Angela disappears. When Corey finds her, he learns she and her son are both in trouble.

This was an exciting book that kept me on the edge of my seat. With plenty of drama, suspense and surprises, I was quickly drawn in and couldn’t wait to find what happened next. In spite of all the action, twists and turns, this was a fairly angst-free read that was really enjoyable. I can’t get enough of Mayer's military heroes and can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Corey gets a call from someone from way back in his past needing help but it appears a lot has happened in the past 12 years - both have moved on but Angela is in the middle of a bitter custody battle and very nasty divorce. She may have been married to Greg for 7 years but it is only now that she really understands exactly what he is like and it is not at all nice. Even worse she grabbed some photos of documents as a kind of "insurance" the last time she was in his house which might end up getting her killed. Can Corey help keep her alive as well as rescue her son from his evil father?

So much drama and danger in this story. Corey must have been knocked sideways seeing her again and finding out about her son but he took it all in his stride and handled it like an absolute gent. I loved Corey as a character and I think we could all do with him in our lives taking care of us. Dramatic story with lots of twists and turns which was well written and easy to understand and empathise with.

Corey is the latest in a wonderful series of interconnected standalone romances. One by one, each of the SEALs of Honor are trading their bachelorhood for true love. In Corey's case, he's already been in love with Angela, but tragic circumstances tore them apart years earlier. Now, Angela is in danger, so she turns to Corey for help. Corey brings the whole team in to find out the whole story behind why Angela's ex is trying to have her killed. Along the way, they both have a chance to revisit past feelings and see if there's enough there for a second chance.

This is a fast-paced, action-driven story with plenty of suspense and a solid foundation of love and family solidarity. The characters are so well-developed, it's impossible not to fall in love with Corey and Warrick, his partner for this case. These guys, and the rest of their team, are everything we want our heroes to be. I'm looking forward to reading Warrick's story next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

When Corey’s first love, Angela, appears in his life after 12 years the old feelings of what happened between them come rushing back. He has no time to reconnect with her as she runs off after only a few minutes. He learns that she needs his help and he’s not turning his back on her but she isn’t the same woman and is not too sure about letting him back into her life. When he finds her, she doesn’t refuse as he seems to be the only one who can get her out of her mess and get her son back.
Another great read by Dale Mayer that was hard to put down, full of suspense, some action and a bit of steam. I LOVE all of the men of Seals of Honor, they are strong, compassionate, don’t play games, will do anything to help others out, and when they fall, they fall deep and hold on and Corey is no expection. Angela wasn’t one of my favourites, she was a bit naive, rattled on my nerves at times, too indecisive but as the story went on I warmed up to her especially near the end with Corey. Now I can’t wait for Warrick’s story !!

Corey is surprised to hear from Angela, his high school sweetheart and the only woman he has ever loved, after 12 years so they arrange to meet. When Angela leaves without saying why she wanted to see him he is intrigued and tracks her down.

Angela has been married for seven years and has a six year old son. Life has not been easy and all she wants to do is end their marriage and maintain custody of their son but her husband is not about to let her leave so easily even if violence and threats are required.

Corey is not about to leave her to handle the situation on her own and the feelings between them are stronger than ever but will he be able to keep her and her son safe from her husband?

Corey and Angela’s relationship while they were in high school ended due to a tragedy that they weren’t equipped to handle but it didn’t mean they didn’t love each other and they will finally have their second chance but there is a lot of suspense and drama that they need to overcome first. I always love Dales Books. The heroes and the strong heroines and even though the trouble they bring it always seems to work out in the end. Corey and Angela were school sweethearts but a sad event left them both heartbroken and their love over. Years later Angela is back and needs help but is nervous. Her soon to be ex husband wants her child and will do anything to get him. Even threatening to hurt her and not giving him back after a visitation.

We read about blackmail, murder, betrayal and man who will do anything to get what he wants, even drugging his own child. With a cat and mouse game and her ex getting closer, can Corey and Warwick keep her and he son safe before Greg has a chance to make his move. A great read from page one and I love how each of these strong men find a woman who brings them to their knees. I can wait for the next book. I received an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is one of my favourite series out there in this genre and by this author too. There is plenty of action, adventure, suspense and intrigue in this book and it has your emotions involved from the very the beginning and has them involved the whole way through the story. This book really grabbed me and held me captivated throughout the story. I just loved this book, this story and the characters. Felt like you where with them as everything happens throughout the story and that you where a part of the story, not just reading it. These are my favourite characters by this author and it’s going to be hard for these characters to be beaten in my opinion. Can’t wait to see what she writes next in this series and if it’s like this book then it’s going to be one fantastic book to read. This is one of the best books I’ve read in 2018 and I’m really looking forward to more books by this author and I would definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

This story was not quite as exciting as some of the other ones, but enjoyable non the less. Just as some of the other Seals in the group, Corey's past comes back bringing up old emotions. Childhood lovers, Corey and Angela suffered a tragic loss that separated them sending them down different past. Now years later, Angela is a damsel in distress and needs a Knight in shinning armor to rescue her from a dangerous situation. This was a great second chance romance with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline. While other seals in the different groups are mentioned and conferred with only Warrick is the only one who plays a big part in the storyline, setting him up as the next one to find his HEA. Fast paced and easy to follow, Ms. Mayer pulls us into the world of our favorite military hero's and leaves us wanting more when we reach the last page.

Corey by Dale Mayer
SEALs of Honor Series Book Sixteen
Corey Handleman was stunned when he met an old flame for coffee. She was as beautiful as she'd been twelve years ago. His first love. When she suddenly leaves before their food even arrives—he feels rejected. Again. Somehow, he had missed all the warning signs that she might've been in danger—as he finds out a few days later that she's missing.

Angela Buffalo never thought her life could get so bad. Somehow in seven years, she'd slowly become a prisoner in her own home. And then she found out what her husband was really like. Unfortunately, he was controlling and wasn't going to let go very easily.

A great story line. What starts as an old friend helping Angela out, turns into a full-blown case. A case that needs to be worked quickly and quietly as lives are at stake.

I was kindly provided this book as an ARC. This book centers around Corey & Angela; from what I could gather former high school (possibly college) sweethearts. In past they were heavily involved & an unexpected pregnancy tragically ended in miscarriage. 12 years later Angela is married to “bad guy” Greg, has a 6 year old boy Joshua & Corey is a SEAL on vacation with his friend Warrick. Angela & Greg are divorcing, but Greg is threatening Angela’s life.

The story is pretty believable, my only complaint is it was “wrapped up” so quickly & no real explanation as to what the bad guys were really doing & what the pending legal issues encompassed. Overall pretty good, but not really “finished”. Ms. Dale is a great writer, this is not a terrific representation of her work.

This is another book I loved reading. Angela arranges to meet Corey his high school sweetheart, but after ordering coffee and lunch she runs out on him. When Corey’s sister calls to say that Angela’s missing. Corey and his teammate Warrick go to investigate. This is a book about two SEALs trying to help a friend in trouble, not a story about a military mission. In this book you see how the SEALs training is engrained in their being. While protecting Angela, you get to see Corey and Warrick’s training from monitoring what’s around them, setting up communication, and investigating the money trail. Even though this is a police case, Corey and Warrick are instrumental in solving it. I don’t think I’m giving anything away when I say that Corey and Angela will get their second chance at happiness.

Seal's of Honor: Corey

WOW! This is an intriguing second chance story. Corey gets a call from his high school sweetheart, Angela, but then she panics and leaves. She later seems to disappear. Corey's sister asks him to find her so he and Warrick go in search of her. She is found and then the search for the truth about her soon-to-be ex-husband so Angela can get her son back. All this leads to her husband trying to kill her and her son. Luckily Corey and Warrick are there to save both. Her ex is arrested and with a lot of evidence against him, he won't be out of prison anytime soon. Now that the threat is neutralized, Angela can get back to a normal life with Corey. I am happy that Angela gave Corey a second chance for a happily ever after! FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.

I love reading Dale Mayer's books and this Seals of Honor Series is absolutely awesome!
This book pulled me in holding my attention from page 1 through the Epilogue. It's filled with page turning action, drama, suspense, blackmail, car chases, gun fights as well as wicked actions against an innocent by an abusive, manipulative husband!
With Cory and Warrick on the case, hands on, Mason and the others working from their end, the criminals are quickly brought down and will stand trial for the wrong deeds done, luckily no real harm came to any innocent person.
This book brings happiness long overdue to the two people this story centers around.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book and suggest you grab a copy for yourself and find out what all the action is about.

Cory and Angela were a couple in high school when a miscarriage breaks them apart. Twelve years later Cory is a Navy Seal and Angela is married to a rich controlling man. Angela files for divorce and moves out of the house taking her son along. During a visitation her husband forces her out of the house and keeps their son. After trying several things to no avail Angela contacts Cory for help. There's plenty of mystery and suspense. Together they try to find out who, what and why. Time is of the essence because several attempts are made on their lives and the chance of Angela may loose her son forever.

If you want a fast enjoyable read, sign on to the SEALS of Honor series. If you want a HEA - again sign on. This one is Coreys story. He steps up to help his sisters best friend and his past girlfriend. She is separated from a controlling, domineering, male. Or thug in my opinion. Who is keeping her from her son and threatening her. Corey and Warrick are the main SEALS on board, but Mason, Levi and more pop in (albeit via phone). I appreciate that I can sit down, immerse myself in a well rounded story that touches on issues in the days world, and does so with a light touch. I really like the fact that these are relationship stories, life happenings. I asked for the Arc and was pleased to receive! Thank you Dale Mayer and team!

Another wonderful SEAL romance from Dale Mayer that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages faster than ever to see what would happen. I felt like I was in the middle of the action from beginning to end.

I fell in love with courageous and honorable Corey and his dynamic with the other unforgettable characters especially Angela, his old high school girlfriend. Their story is an emotional and heartwarming second-chance romance. This is book 16 in the SEALs of Honor series and I look forward to reading the next book that will center around Warrick.

Overview: This entry in the Seals of Honor was especially good from a family perspective. Corey
reconnects with his childhood sweetheart. They had split over the loss of a child before marrying.
Now Angela is on the run from her husband and trying to save her son. Corey and the team step in
and save the date.

Maturity Level: A few sex scenes are pretty hot!

What I Liked the most...

- As always a very good story with likable characters
- Loved the forgiveness and understanding shown by Corey
- Great relationship!
- Always like seeing the rest of the crew.. Its nice because it's not just a brief view, they
are really involved in the story.
- Another great ending!

Corey is right. You never forget your high school sweetheart. Corey and Angela's youth did not provide the tools to get them through a very rough spell that split them up. They went their separate ways, he to the Navy, and she married to a man whose livelihood depended on other people's bad decisions. Recognizing her own bad decision, Angela tried to get her son and herself out of the marriage, only to learn just how life-threatening that could be. Fortunately, Corey's sister was Angela's best friend, and that one degree of separation, along with Corey's and Warrick's SEAL training, brought them back together for the ride of a lifetime. Lots of excitement. Another great story from Dale Mayer.

I absolutely loved this book! I read it in one sitting and can’t wait to read the next in the series! The story brings Corey to the front and keeps you engrossed in the action, suspense, and romance! Reading about what happens in a custody battle makes you realize that not all separations and divorces are amicable and that the child/children involved are usually the ones who end up getting hurt the most! I was praying for a good resolution and realized at that point that not all will end well in real life and in books. This is what kept me turning the pages till the end. Dale Mayer did it again, an awesome story you won’t want to put down till the end.
