Love and Laughter: Sexy (Meaningful) Fun for Everyone

Rate this book
This book is about sex—but it's also about joy, intimacy, romance, and how a healthier, more playful attitude about sex can revitalize your relationships and enrich your entire life. Building on the success of her radio talk show on ESPN 97.5FM in Houston, Beth has written this book to extend the conversation and answer your questions about love and companionship, but also about learning to love your body, experiencing more sensual pleasure, and how to make your marriage last another fifty years. Whether you've just started a relationship or you've been together for decades, whether you haven't had sex in months or you just had sex this morning, this book will help make your relationships more affectionate, silly, exciting, sexy and, most of all, fun. About the Author Beth Liebling spent years working as a board-certified divorce attorney before her own divorce—after twenty-two years of marriage—led her to start thinking about relationships differently. "How can couples revive their marriage instead of end it? How can they keep laughing with each other instead of growing apart? And how much of it has to do with sex?" Her answers to these questions led her to open Darling Way, a sexy luxury boutique in the historic Houston Heights where she's been helping people discover sensuality and its central role in love and relationships, and she's also been sharing what she's learned on radio, as host of "Love & Laughter with Beth" on ESPN Houston. Now you too can share in Beth's secrets about relationships and happiness, and learn how to have more sexy, meaningful fun in your relationships and in your life. Beth is a mother of five, a grandmother of one, and, most of all, a romantic who believes in passionate love forever—and wants to help everyone to create it.

Right at the start, when the author introduces herself, she writes, “In the pages that follow, we’ll talk frankly (because I don’t know how to be anything else!). . . My name is Beth Liebling, and I’m a sappy, emotional, hopelessly optimistic romantic. I believe in happy fairy tales and forever love.” She also mentions that she’s a divorce lawyer. . .
A very conversational intro leads to exactly the same in the main part of the book. It’s important to go into this expecting it to be fun rather than a serious discussion about sex, though the title should have been enough of a clue. At one point she compares romance to going to the theater, then being in a play with your partner. It’s a little trite, but her enthusiasm is infectious.
There’s artwork, sometimes small shots of lingerie as chapter headers, but other times full drawings that seem cartoonish, which works in this setting. Some of the jokes are hokey, and sometimes she goes out of her way for a joke that isn’t really there, but on the other hand I prefer earnestness to sullen any day.
And that’s it exactly. More than just fun, it’s optimistic. I can easily imagine her responding the exact same way in person at her shop.

Despite being battered with it on a daily basis, sexuality in America is still such a taboo and often hard to talk about subject. This book's conversational and candid tone really helps break down those walls built up by being raised in a "pious" society. Beth's writing opens you up to being able to talk about things that make you or your partner uncomfortable, and recognizing that it's ok to be uncomfortable! I highly recommend using this book as a way to help get a dialogue started, and make moves toward having a more open, intimate, and meaningful relationship.

Beth's lighthearted approach about serious topics encourages, educates and empowers men and women of all ages and backgrounds to embrace their own sexuality in a way that uplifts their mind, body and spirits. Beth has a way of making sensitive sex topics seem "normal" and always fun. Beth’s emphasis on laughing together rather than "at" anyone and their sex questions or problems has endeared her to young, old, straight, gay and everything in between.

Love and Laughter is a wonderful book for any kind of relationship-- whether you've been together for ages or you're casually dating. Beth makes talking about sex fun and easy! She uses the perfect mix of intimate and erotic in an open, conversational way. And I especially love the fun and inclusive illustrations! Such an empowering book!

I loved this book! Beth's ability to approach difficult subjects with levity is incredible, and I thought her sexy suggestions were fun, fresh, and exciting. This is a fun read that also includes an insightful look at what it means to be in a relationship and some of the key factors that create successful ones (sex life, good communication). A must read this Valentine's Day!
