Kent crumpled the lame azz flyer in his hand and looked across the street at the Salty Stix bakery and thought to himself... this is war.
Single father Pierre Duchamp has recently returned to Hollydale with plans to open Salty Stix, an authentic French bakery like the one he apprenticed at in Paris. The omega doesn’t have, need, or even want an alpha in his life—especially a provincial small town rube that doesn’t understand the concept of a little healthy competition.
Kent Hawkins doesn’t want drama. He just wants to spend his days making candy for Sweet Ballz—a place that is so much more than just a job, it’s his life. If only the thieving French baker across the street would quit revamping and one-upping Kent’s recipes.
A one-night stand gone wrong… two dessert loving men who can’t find a way to reduce their boil to a simmer… and a mysterious hippie who keeps accidentally making things worse while he blithely totes around his little harp. Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Hollydale—a sweet little town where strange things happen but your friends are always there to have your back.
This is the fifth book of The Hollydale Omegas series. This book is about 27k and most likely contains an HEA. 18+ readers only please! And yes, this book contains M/PREG, adults adulting in sexy grown-up ways, and way more than an occasional use of potty mouth language.
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
Chocolate Spiced Omega is book five in The Hollydale Omegas series by Susi Hawke. This is our favorite candy maker, Kent’s book. He so deserves his own happy ever after while watching everyone else he loves pairing up and having babies.
Kent Hawkins is the candy maker at Sweet Ballz and is brother to Christian from a previous book. Pierre Duchamp is a single father and has just moved to Hollydale with his six year old son, Julian. Pierre is a trained baker and is opening a French bakery called Salty Stix which has been his dream for so long.
Kent and Pierre first met in Vegas at a convention and had a night together that neither ever forgot. Pierre snuck out, leaving Kent to wake up alone. So both were convinced they would never see each other again. But then Pierre moved to Hollydale not realizing it’s where Kent lives. And where is his brand new bakery located? Of course it is right across the street from Sweet Ballz.
Kent is not happy with the new competition in their little town. And some of Pierre’s recipes are shockingly close to his own. This town just isn’t big enough for the both of them. But, once they stop competing with each other, they are able to see that they just might like each other, more than like each other. Pierre respects Kent’s values and honesty. And Kent like’s Pierre’s spirit, his dedication to his son, his intelligence. Maybe this is more than like for him too?
This was sweet and fun. I want to taste some of these delicious sounding creations at the two bakeries! And wow, the ties between this book and the previous one are so wonderful. This group of people that is growing rapidly with all the babies, has become family. This one was pretty angst free compared to the last one. I am just so hooked on this series. I don’t want it to ever stop!
Loved this one... not quite as much as some of the preceding books, but it was still a solid 5 stars. Loved both Kent and Pierre, they was so good together. Gotta say I love how their dynamic was sorta more firework than love songs when they first interacted once Pierre arrived in Hollydale. It was nice watching then fall in love once they realized their wildfire was banking into a nice hot slow burn. This read was fun, sexy and sooo enjoyable!
This was book 5 in "The Hollydale Omegas" series. Kent Hawkins is the lovable awkward little brother of Christian and the candy maker for Sweet Ballz he is also an Alpha. While in Vegas for a convention he has a one night stand with a hot sexy omega who doesn't want to tell him his name Kent is not the type to have one night stands but he knows if he wants what his brother has he has to put himself out there and meet people. Single father Pierre Duchamp has recently returned to Hollydale with plans to open Salty Stix, an authentic French bakery like the one he apprenticed at in Paris. Pierre doesn't have time for Alphas he has had bad luck with them so is ok with one night stands with alphas. This was a really good read while at the park he meets Tom and the gang and his son becomes friends with Milo's son Artie. Turns out Pierre and Tom have a few things in common there kids have the same bio-Alpha along with Cecil's son. When the owner of Salty Stix starts taking customers from Sweet Ballz Kent is beside himself and when he finds out who the owner is he says some mean things to him he doesn't understand a little healthy competition never hurts anyone even though Milo and Tom are ok with it. When he goes to tell Pierre that he is sorry the two get into a fight and food goes flying and one thing leads to another and they end up having sex but not before Kent notices that Pierre have a baby bump. This was a good read I really liked both of these MC's but are really good at what they do when Kent learns that Pierre is carrying his baby he is more than willing to step up. All the books in this series have other people or things helping them along with the relationship and these two have cupid they have been finding 24kt arrows. This book was well written like the other books in this series with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
These are just sweet low angst stories that are perfect reads when you want something light. Pierre and Kent are competing chefs who fight until they fall in love. It’s all in good fun and keeps with the fantasy theme of these books. I’ve been listening to these as audiobooks and they have been very enjoyable. Drew Baccarat does a good job as narrator, but shouldn’t try singing as a career.
This book was super cute, basically like all the others in the series; being an Extra sugary sweet short book. Nothing but fluffy goodness with some snarky sass thrown in.
Omg. And let me just mention Drew Bacca’s Singing in the Audio narration. Cause that is totally note worthy. It’s pretty great and definitely made me smile. Wasn’t expecting that at all. Lol. He did such a good job with this book.
I liked the dynamic of these two characters especially being in such a shorter book at only around 2hrs or so long. Susi really knows how to set the storyline and pacing perfectly in each book she writes.
Kent and Pierre are at odds with each other right from the very beginning. And it just gets worse before it gets better with them being at competing bakery’s. I totally understood both sides and where they were coming from. I think though, that I’m happiest knowing that Kent finally got his ready made family, of all the Alphas in this series, he definitely deserves some happy.
I enjoy this series. It is cute and adorable, but can we get some women? I understand that this is a gay world but still do they not have female friends?
Rating 2.5 This entry in the series was a huge disappointment. After the fun, heartwarming, and humorous stories that have come before it, this fell flat. Pierre and Kent were not characters that I could get into at all. Pierre was a bit too cold and distant to be likeable. He never seemed to love Kent at all and didn't to seem to have a lot of respect for him. Kent is a character that I have had lukewarm feelings about throughout the series. He doesn't show alpha qualities, being frankly needy and passive. He is even clingy and starry-eyed with his obviously slutty hook up, wanting to build a whole relationship with someone he meets in a bar in Vegas. While once they were together Kent was nurturing and loving, especially to young Julian, I just didn't feel any love or chemistry between he and Pierce. This is supposed to be an enemies to lovers story but the book is so rushed that the abrupt change in the relationship comes off a little unbelievable and quite rushed. The supernatural character for this book was also a big letdown. Cupid was portrayed as a bumbling stoner rather than whimsical and wise the way earlier supernatural tie-ins have been. The whole thing felt like it was phoned in. I usually read these on KU and then find myself immediately buying and often rereading them, but this one was not a buy for me, even to complete the series. It also appears to be the end of the series since there was a pointed reference to Cupid/Amor being needed next in a small Midwestern town (the name was even given but I don't remember it). I will definitely miss Tom's shenanigans and the warmth of all the friendships that have developed. I still plan to read and look forward to the next series and hope that Susi can recapture the quality of the early books.
OK, I'll be honest... this wasn't my favorite! The language just hit me wrong... maybe too crude? Not sure what it was but I kept thinking... What happened to my Rated PG story? *shrugs*
As for Pierre and Kent? (Can't believe I spelled Pierre correctly without checking first... YAY me!) Now, where was I? The truth is... these were probably the most "bland" couple of the series. Not that being bland is bad... there is something to be said for bland, I just don't know what it would be! *headdesk* ;p
For me, Tom and the children stole the show in this one! Although, even with the over the top language issue... that "food fight" brought back some great memories... I mean it was very entertaining! And, yeah... the clean-up after? NEVER fun! *snort* LOL!!!
Side note: Proofreading was much better... although, I am NOT sure how one wraps their "alarms" around someone else's neck... just sayin'! ;D
We met Kent way back in Cinnamon Spiced Omega and he came across as this super sweet shy kid. He played a background role in the other books but nothing more then 2 or 3 scenes. So when this book came up I knew this was going to either a hit or miss. I totally forgot about Kent so I did not know what this book was going to be.
When Kent first meets Pierre he thought he found the one and when he actually took time to talk to Pierre he realizes that Pierre is not this shy sweet Omega that he thought he was. Pierre is an independent Omega who tried to take care of his son.
This book was short and I really do not know how I feel about this book. Pierre and Kent's story was not that memorable at all. I do not know if I should feel that way because I love this series. I guess I will continue to ponder on this book.
Chocolate Spiced Omega was another fun and sweet installment in The Hollydale Omegas series. I suggest you read or listen to the previous books beforehand because there are a lot of recurring characters and frankly, they're easy, light reads that I'm pretty sure everyone can enjoy.
While I adored Kevin, it took me longer to warm up to Pierre and really, I wanted to bash his head in when he started the whole competition between their businesses. Never mind that I really couldn't get why Tom and Milo didn't take the time to reassure Kevin when they started siding up with Pierre about it all.
Still, as I said, the book is short and fun with just a dash of angst and Drew Bacca's narration was pretty good, as always. I loved that he even treated us to a bit of his singing voice and I definitely have no trouble recommending this or any of the previous books in the series!
Kent goes to Vegas for a chocolate making expo to be better at candy making where he works at Sweet Ballz. He does something that's not like him at all and has a one night stand. He goes home and ends up meeting Pierre who was his one night stand. He also meets Julian his son who's seven and is also one if the kids from the guy who rocked other omegas.
Tom and Milo who run Sweet Ballz are great friends with Pierre and let him use some of their ideas and spin his way which gets to Kent bad. It ends with them having an all out food fight which I laughed at.
They have a Cupid named Amor helping them and its set around Valentine's Day too. The others are also in some of jt. Sex was hot and loved how caring Kent is. Read this for Valentine's.
From the moment I saw another side to Kent in book two I so wanted to see the young alpha get his happy ending. So glad it was this one!
Character breakdown;
Kent: loved this kind hearted family oriented alpha and who better to show a lone omega father that his good for him? I had no doubt Kent would step up to the plate.
Pierre: I didn't know how to take this omega the fact that he was apart of the back story from two other omegas. Also made it easy to enjoy his initiation to the big and ever growing Hollydale family.
Funny book with a few feels, pretty quick but enjoyable!
Every time I listen to a new Hollydale book I have to rethink who my favorites are. This was another adorable addition to this series complete with a very snarky and headstrong omega, a determined alpha, and of course a magical friend that keeps interfering. These two cracked me up, especially when Kent confronted Pierre in his kitchen, I was laughing so hard at their antics and could actually picture the whole scene in my head. Susi Hawke definitely knows how to write cute stories that make you smile and warm your heart...bring on the next one. Drew Bacca's narration was excellent and made this story enjoyable to listen to. I highly recommend this entire series.
Kent and Pierre have a one night stand in Las Vegas. They don’t exchange any information so they figure they will never see each other again. Kent is shocked to find out the competitor to the candy shop he works at is Pierre.
Super fun, steamy romance. It was fun touching base with the characters from the other Spiced Omega books. This entire series is just feel good Sweet romances with a bit of angst. The slight paranormal aspect is a great addition. Engaging stories with great characters.
I understand that this is a series about gay alpha/omega couples. That doesn't mean there can be no women. Most of the guys had two dads. A couple had dead moms. It seems the only good mom is a dead mom. Oh wait Rafe's standoffish mom made an appearance but she might have died too. I think the only surviving dad is Ian's disinterested father. These poor kids have no grandparents to spoil them. The only significant woman is the Obgyn or whatever yoh call a pregnancy doctor for omegas. Are women a dying breed in their society?
Fun read, hey who doesn't love chocolate. I had been waiting for Kent's story and this was a good one. Sometimes when two people aren't really looking for an attachment love throws them a curve ball. Nice job of bringing more characters closure from the hideous alpha menace. I did feel this story didn't have quite the depths the other have just felt a little rushed, but still a good story. Ready for the next flavor.
I struggled with this one in it keeping my attention. The matchmaker and very basic story wasn't that bad. However, the couple just never managed to actually come across as a couple. It was extremely hot or cold with never really connecting. I just feel like they would have been very happy staying that hot one night stand since nothing ever felt deep or attached.
Like always I just loved this. Kent and Pierre were simply very cute. With the added Amor and Valentine's theme it was a lovely story which one would not like to put down until the end. There were more than one scenes where I found myself laughing . Susi Hawke I love all your books thank you again and I can't wait for the next
My favorite thing in this series? Tom. I just adore him!
This was fun and sweet, although I admit that I found the main characters a bit...bland? I don't know, I think I was hoping for a bit more for Kent, both for him as a character and the relationship.
Still, a fun series and I like the families being all friends together!
Cupid this time is causing trouble. I am so glad Kent gets his own happily ever after instead of just living through his brother's family. I love the "fighting" both of these guys need to battle through to get to each other. I also love seeing the way the other form a community and embrace the newcomer.
I've loved Kent since the beginning. There's something special about him. I knew his book would be great but I didn't see myself laughing as much as I did. Pierre was a pistol. I loved the back and forth between them. But that final fight...that was epic. I loved it! I'm having so much fun reading these books, I don't want them to end.
A little chocolate... A lot of sass... and Amor???
Another great story but Audi Hawke with a perfect rendition on how love and hate are truly are a thin line away. I always enjoy how her writing can transport me to another world and how she makes me care about all her characters. Ready for the next one!
A lovely story for a simply unique Alpha. I kept hoping to read Kent's story from back when he was just a shy high schooler. And his Omega Pierre sounds perfect for him. Add in a little mischief and there you go.
I just read the 5 book in this series and like the last 4 it was so good. I would just like to say read all of these books the are so good from the 1st to the 5th. They just flow front the first to the fifth.
Another fantastic addition to the Hollydale series. These two had series sparks in and out of the bedroom but with a whole Lotta sweetness added in. I absolutely loved it. And really hope for more in this series.
This is a cute read as all of the books in this series... I liked both MC'S and it was good to see Kent get his family and HEA .. I'm interested in seeing who book 6 is about...
Omg this book was absolutely amazing. This book was a page turner that I just couldn't stop reading until the end. I had absolutely loved reading this book. I would highly recommended this book.
I actually cried in this one. So many feels. I didn't want to like Pierre, but I understand him. I want to marry Kent. Maybe that's why I don't like Pierre. Kent belongs with me!
Oh well... A truly sweet story and I even liked the inept cupid.
