Like many a business (or pop psychology or self-help) books, this one takes a rather trivial idea (namely, that personnel productivity comes from a joint concern for business goals and human needs) and spins it out over hundreds of pages. Classic work describing managerial and leadership styles and their impact on organizational performance. Best quotes, "Violate the principles of sound leadership and invite similar disaster--collapse of the organization" (p. 103) and "Frequently, the problem that managers feel a need to solve is not the real problem at all" (p. 110).
