Jennifer is a poor, almost homeless servant. She mucks stalls for a living and lives in a borrowed trailer with broken heating. That doesn't dampen her spirit or keep her from saving the scared kitten who dashed into the middle of a highway. When a stranger gifts Jennifer with a ring of five wishes, of course she doesn't really believe it. But what could it hurt to try? She certainly has nothing to lose. Carefully crafting her wishes -- hey, she's seen those wish movies, too! -- Jennifer is still shocked to see the pile of money on the bed. It worked! Going from dirt poor to filthy rich has certain pitfalls. But Jennifer is determined to avoid those and manage her newfound wealth responsibly without turning into her witchy ex-boss. What she doesn't realize is that her life is about to become way more complicated. Magical beings from another world seek possession of the ring and don't care if she or her kitten are alive or dead. Jennifer will have to learn to fight to save two worlds from the evil schemes of a heartless villain.

Author Bio: I am DL Lewis. I live with a cello, three indoor cats, four outdoor feral cats, and a crow named Harold. I’m a retired professional fine artist and horse-healer/caretaker of sorts; former polo player, former homeless person, and survivor of human trafficking. I’m disabled with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and some years ago I choked on a piece of food and died. I was dead for quite a long while before some first responders resurrected me. I was in a coma for weeks and wasn’t expected to survive as a normally functioning human being, but I rallied, got past the months of being unable to speak clearly, read, or write and here I be: trying to put out stories that will entertain and enlighten readers. I think I will get the hang of it all some time soon … maybe.

The author is clearly in love with the semicolon, which is a wonderful punctuation mark. Unfortunately, almost all the cases in which she uses it should actually be commas.

The prose is otherwise competent, but stiff and formal, and the minor characters mostly consist of a single quirk - and often seem to be there only so that a more important character has someone to talk to.

The resolution seems hurried, and even lampshades the fact. It's therefore shorter than I was expecting.

It's far from being a bad book, but it has plenty of room for improvement.

What in the world?

This was a sophomoric undertaking. Jennifer was annoying and the story was a huge letdown. There was no magic or wonder in this book. In actuality, it quickly became tedious and the main character had obviously been severely beaten with a stupid stick. I simply didn't care what happened to her or her friends. My advice to the author is develop an interesting plot, have a main character with more depth than a teaspoon, and work on a satisfying ending, not one that that suddenly meanders into a slanted and biased opinion. Neither would I recommend this author or ever be foolish enough to read another of her diatribes.

Entertaining until the confusing abrupt ending

The short book was entertaining. The ending was abrupt, confusing and left several loose ends. The two worlds could make an interesting book universe but this specific book was quite short with minimal details and explanations. (That is why i usually skip short stories).

Great Read!

This was a totally fun read. When it started I couldn't up imagine where it was going. But it turned out to be a delightfully fun romp full of delightful incentive lovable creatures.

Super fun book! This book has characters I've never encountered before. This book is fun, easy and unique. An alternate world full of creatures that we can actually imagine. Hedgehogs people and those who can teleport themselves. Jennifer is a kind soul who loves animals. Down on her luck she is gifted with a magic ring. Now who hasn't wished for that. Will she make good decisions or selfish ones. Where did the ring come from. All fun mysteries unfold in this cute fanciful book. Give it a read. And its dedicated to the 13 Bald Eagles killed by MS-13.
