Omaha Perez' vicious skewering of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic literary creations is finally collected! This version of the Sherlock Holmes mythos expands on Dr. Watson's revelation that Holmes was a narcotics addict. The World's Greatest Detective is a maniac completely out of his head on drugs at all times and Dr. Watson, his own personal -Dr. Feelgood, - isn't much better off! Appearance meets reality as the duo must cope with their handicaps while recovering composer Joseph Haydn's missing skull.

Named after the Native American tribe, Omaha was born in San Francisco. He has never been to Nebraska or eaten an Omaha Steak. He continues to be amazed by the large number of Americans he meets who think Omaha is a State. When Omaha was a small child he believed Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom was his show.

Though a resident of LA for over 20 years now, Omaha is keenly aware that he will always be a San Franciscan and never an Angeleno. LOST ANGELES is an existential nightmare suggesting it may appear the grass is always greener no matter which path you take in life. It continues a theme present, to a greater or lesser extent, in all of his Graphic Novels - from THE DRUDE v1 and SUPER TERRE.R back to HOLMES and BODHISATTVA - that theme being the illusory nature of Reality (and Sanity). Funny stuff, right? Right?!

Omaha’s biggest influences are Literature (Dumas, Tolstoy, Vonnegut, PK Dick), Comics (Gilbert Shelton, Jack Kirby, Robert Crumb) and Rock & Roll (Bowie, Iggy, Lou, Lennon, Jagger & Richards)! Though he originally drew comics, Omaha, a prolific writer, is thrilled to have other artists toiling away on his projects!

People admire Sherlock Holmes for his scientific mind and Dr. Watson for his tender heart. But what if Watson's sentimental stories were the product of an unreliable narrator severely impaired on self-prescribed brandy? His adventures with a coke-fueled Holmes amount to a mind blowing account of epic debauchery. Shocking and terrifying. And if you can have a sense of humor about your favorite duo, also hilarious.

Fun book. Not a huge fan of the art in some places, which seemed a bit rushed. But the book is essentially "what if Holmes and Watson... were Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo instead?" and how can you not love something that wild?

This graphic novel is a very different take on Sherlock Holmes. I did not enjoy it. He makes the great detective a drug addled fool who attacks people without any evidence and Watson is a sexual deviant. I cannot imagine how Perez can call himself a fan of ACD with this rubbish.

GN YA PEREZ - drug use, nudity, violence
Hadyn's skull has been stolen from the British Museum and Sherlock Holmes is called in to recover it. Could it be that his nemesis, Moriarty is behind the theft?
These four short chapters poke fun at Watson's enduring admiration for the drug-addled Holmes. Perez's depiction is of a bungling, drugged, violent, and delusional Holmes, kept from prison only by a connected relative. It was mildly entertaining, but not enough fodder to sustain the page count. Older teens

So bad. I think tweaking the old image of Sherlock Holmes into something new is great, but it's not clever, or even very funny. I'm tempted to show it to my Holmes-enthusiast friends just to watch their heads explode.

The humor was a bit over the top for me but I liked the art.
