When we meet 26-year old straight guys Nate and Dylan, they're long-time best friends. Just friends. On a typical weekend night they can be found double-dating (much more fun for them than each going out solo with a girl) — or better yet, just hanging out together on the couch with pizza and beer and endless rewatches of their favorite sci-fi movies.

Check out that cover — just a couple of dudebros, right?

But one night, a little bit of experimentation fueled by rum and porn catapults their lives in a completely new direction.

I liked these guys, and I liked this set-up. Just add sex, and eventually love, and they'll have the best of both worlds, right? Friends, lovers, familiarity, smexy times, lack of pretense, the ability to just be oneself — plus beer, pizza, and bad sci-fi — personally I could not ask for a better fate.

But this isn't about me, and that's not where the story goes. Instead, their friends — the MCs of the previous book, and purveyors of The World's Worst Relationship Advice™ — railroad Nate and Dylan into performing Heteronormative Courtship Rituals, which are presented to them as if that's their only possible path forward.

By which I mean: Rather than just enjoying their easy camaraderie, they are informed that they now have to go on "dates" with each other, with all the stilted and artificial contrivance that entails. They are told they must create fancy home-cooked dinners for each other — even though neither knows how to cook, neither has ever aspired to cook, neither enjoys cooking, and trying to cook fancy dinners adds a level of stress and pressure to life that really grinds Nate, in particular, down.

By the end of the story, after being duly processed through additional requirements of the Heteronormative Courtship Machine, they've been transformed. No longer a pair of dudebros, what we have instead is a self-proclaimed "gentleman" (Dylan), and someone who really loves to be taken care of and pampered (Nate). So, from friends and equals, into a gentleman and his (sorry, Nate) princess. And guess what their roles are in the bedroom? Because I can tell ya, they're not switching it up. Nope, they each have a role.

Go ahead, guess. I'll wait.

Didja figure it out? I bet you did!

So, if what you want to see in m/m romance is two guys who start out as equals, and work hard to recreate their relationship in the image of traditional m/f roles and dynamics — well, here ya go!

What I want out of m/m is the opposite — I want to see two people who are equals forge an enduring relationship that gives the finger to society's heteronormative standards. So for me this book was a failure (and a bit of a shock). But it might be just the thing for a reader with different tastes.

This novella was "fine", but nothing unexpected really happened.

I didn't read "Out of the Shadows", so I may have been missing some of the initial setup and background into how Nate and Dylan normally interacted; however, right from the beginning, these two 'straight' guys were totally on board with being a couple.

I felt that the lack of any *real* type of confusion or conflict not only made the story predictable, but also a bit less exciting than it might have otherwise been.

I did like both Nate and Dylan. They'd been best friends for twenty years, so they knew one another pretty well, which I suppose is where the lack of drama came from.

But the feeling that they would be together, most likely forever, well, it didn't allow for very many "what if's" in regards to where their relationship would inevitably lead.

Other than the unease over the "Is he falling in love with me, too?" question, the only hiccup was one short, very uninformed, slightly-phobic conversation with Nate's mom, where she downplayed the seriousness of Nate and Dylan's relationship. But even that was only a momentary bit of easily-resolved drama.

So, as I mentioned, the story was "fine", but never really gave me the tingles that I'd hoped for, and I'd have to rate it around 3 stars, due to the *zing* that I never quite fully felt.

3.5 Hearts ~ Co-review with Adam

Ahhhh there’s nothing like watching porn together to bring two besties even closer.

This is a nice little spinoff from Out of the Shadows, featuring Dylan and Nate who have been attached to the hip since they were the wee age of eight. They know each other inside and out, are thick as thieves, and though everyone else sees their bromance and assume they’re a couple, the thought doesn’t register with either of them until that fateful night.

Props to Wells for a very well paced friends-to-lovers story. Dylan and Nate pretty much take their new dynamic heads on - confronting it, discussing it, and then experimenting with it. Oh yeah. There wasn’t really any angst or huge roadblocks to overcome, and it doesn't hurt at all that this was all sorts of sexy.

Perhaps this is a bit far fetched in reality, but we all read romantic fiction for a reason, right? So, put aside the fact that these two are supposedly straight, sit back and enjoy them finding in the other everything they want in a partner, lover, and long term relationship, and revel in this fairytale dream come true!

I'll keep this short and sweet just like the book. Bromantically Yours by KC Wells was ok. Best friends to lovers are my crack, and this one was cute, but it didn't muster up the feelings I look for in a great friend to lovers. Things fell into place too easily, and it was all too predictable and sadly forgettable. Maybe I didn't feel wholly invested because I never read "Out of the Shadows? I don't know.

All in all, it was enjoyable. If you're looking for a sweet, low angst best friends to lovers, then story give this a go.

Do you love stories starring friends to lovers? How about two guys finally realizing their attraction to each other for the first time? Long for something sweet with little to no angst and a bit of sexiness on top of it all?

Bromantically Yours can absolutely be read as a standalone even though the characters first appear in Wells's Out of the Shadows, but you will miss some of the initial setup and background into how Nate and Dylan's friendship with one another and how it's viewed by others prior to their epiphany here.

This short and a nice quick romantic follow-up to Out of the Shadows is a sweet little confection just in time for Valentine's Day.

This one of those cases where the book was fine, but I just wasn’t enamored with it.

Nate and Dylan have been best friends since childhood. They spend a lot of time together, certainly more so than they spend with potential girlfriends. It’s a bromance made in heaven.

That is until a drunken kiss tips the balance. Dylan and Nate both want to explore the chemistry between them, which means getting to know each other in a different light.

This novella is a spin-off from K.C. Wells’ Out of the Shadows. I didn’t read that book, but I had no trouble reading ‘Bromantically Yours’ as a stand-alone.

The book jumps right into Dylan and Nate’s love story from the first chapter. It’s possible that the build-up between the two of them happened during ‘Out of the Shadows’, but I definitely would have liked some background on the two.

Even so, it was clear from the start how much these two meant to each other, and how well they understood one another. It might have taken them a while to figure it out, but they were definitely two halves of a whole.

description

This is a very low-drama read. Nate and Dylan to come to terms pretty quickly with the fact that they were attracted to each other, and that they wanted to see where it might go.

Both men go head-first into their new relationship, with their friendship seamlessly flowing into a romance. While there were a few early-relationship bumps on the road, those were smoothed over easily.

Also, I thought it was very sweet how the two made sure that the emotional chemistry for a serious relationship was there before moving on to the physical side of things. There’s never any doubt that this is the real deal for both men.

However, in the end I felt like the book was just too predictable. There was neither any tension or sparkle to keep me that interested in Nate and Dylan. If you’re looking for a simple and easy friends-to-lovers romance, ‘Bromantically Yours’ might be up your alley.

If you want a quick, light, no-angst, friends to lovers romance for Valentine’s Day, Bromantically Yours just might fit the bill, especially if you’ve already read K.C. Wells’ Out of the Shadows where Nate and Dylan were first introduced (while reading it isn’t necessary to the story, the background of all the players is there and it would definitely enhance your reading experience of this novella).

Nate and Dylan have been best friends going on 20 years, and along with their friends Logan, Josh and Christian, they are a tight-knit group. When a group night out becomes just Nate and Dylan, they return to Nate’s house, which is nothing out of the ordinary except this time a few drinks and some porn turns into something they never expected. After a brief bit of worry, and some support from their friends, Nate and Dylan decide to give some romance a try.

While Nate and Dylan don’t need to go through the getting to know you phase, they do need to get through a getting to know you in a different light phase and this plays out with sweetness and humor as they stumble through dates and trying to impress the other. They also start remembering feelings that were pushed aside for not making sense and that, along with their friends’ reactions help them accept what’s happening.

Even though they already love each other, the possibility of being in love is at times scary, sexy and unbelievable for each of them, but they take everything in stride without any big misunderstandings or panicked stupid moves. I loved that when things got physical, they had fun with it. This being a Valentine’s Day story there is, of course, the big date, pulling out all the stops to impress like any new couple would want to do on their first one, and it played out perfectly. Other than a slight bit of tension when one of the men comes out to his mother, the story sails along with romance, fun, love and steam.

If you want a short, sweet romance about two best bro’s finally falling into a relationship that all their friends have been waiting for, but they never saw coming, you should give this one a try.

Audiobook review

Nate and Dylan has been joined at the hip and best friends forever. Being stood up by their friends they decides to have a fun evening together anyways. Only things go further than either of them planned and that night has the potential to ruin their friendship forever or change into something else, something more.

Bromantically Yours is a story we've all read before. I can't say that it really brings anything new to the game. Done well this could still have been a cutesy story to spend an afternoon with. But it wasn't. It was a bit too shallow and mindless (or plot-less) and I never connected to anyone in this book. I do appreciate effortless and drama free reads at times, but at the same time I need somethingto keep me interested. And on another note, this book is a spinoff from another book WeIl's written, but never felt like I was missing out on anything, it works well as a standalone.

Daniel Henning didn't do anything for this book. On the contrary actually. He was too much and not enough at the same time. Some parts were over dramatized and to the point where it all just sounded a bit ridiculous, other times there were no feeling near his narration. He never made you connect with the story and I found myself feeling mostly annoyed through out the story. On the plus side, Henning had a very pleasant voice to listen to and I do believe he has potential for narrating books, but I think I'll wait for him to get some more practice before picking up more of his books.

I picked this book up on a gamble, knowing it could be a cute short story or a bad one. Sadly it ended up in the latter part. There were some cute and fun moments, but not enough of them for me to recommend this to anyone.

Although Bromantically Yours is an offshoot of K.C. Wells' earlier Out of the Shadows, this short novella can easily be read as a stand-alone. Actually, I read Out of the Shadows and had to go back and remind myself who Nate and Dylan were.

After being bros forever, Nate and Dylan explore new territory (“let’s jack each other off while watching bi porn”) one very drunken night, and realize that basically they are already a couple, minus the sex. They enthusiastically explore sex, dating and romance, getting tips from Josh and Christian along the way. This novella is a sweet friends-to-lovers tale with lots of romance along the way and a perfect little treat for Valentine's Day. 3.5 stars.

Before we go any further, I'm the one who begged for this story. In fact, after reading Out of the Shadows, I was desperate to find out more about Nate and Dylan. So much so that I contacted Elizabeth North and asked her to help me get it. She said she would.

Now, this book won't be for everyone, and that's fine. We all read the same book in different ways. This isn't supposed to be a novel, it's a Valentine's story of two men who had always been the best of friends, but who never really realized that there was more to it than simple friendship. They had a bond between them that was every bit as strong as lovers.

The story deals with their realization that they don't just love one another, that they're actually in love with each other, and had been for quite some time, they just never saw it.

I love how romantic KC made this story. It wasn't just a 'get in there, fuck, and realize you're in love'. It was 'show them your heart and make them see that you care for them as more than a friend'. It's a trope that I've always enjoyed reading, and she nails it on every level.

Bromantically Yours ticks off all my 'ooh, that's so sweet' and 'ooh, hot' buttons, and I'm grateful KC wrote it, because I needed these two to find their HEA.

Daniel Henning is a new-to-me narrator and overall he did a nice job with the pacing, timing, and adding distinctive character voices, but I personally found it a bit perplexing that his character voices for Nate and Dylan became more effeminate as the audiobook progressed. However, overall it was a cute, short listen.

Bromantically Yours is short, but sweet, light, no-angst, friends to lovers romance told in a dual POV and can absolutely be read as a standalone even though the characters first appear in Wells's Out of the Shadows . However, if you skip Out of the Shadows you will miss some of the initial setup and background into how Nate and Dylan's friendship evolved with one another and how it's viewed by others prior to their epiphany here.

I was so happy to learn that Nate and Dylan were going to get their own story, because I really enjoyed them in Out of the Shadows. I'm also a huge fan of friends to lovers, especially when one or both of the characters only thought of himself as straight, not gay or bisexual.

I wish there had been a bit more conflict or stress over the two of them wanting more than just friendship, things just felt so - too? - easy for them both. But if you're looking for something sweet, sexy, and angst-free, you'll probably enjoy this one.

This is a short and sweet follow up to Out of the Shadows which focuses in on Nate and Dylan, best friends and perhaps something a little bit more.

When I read OotS one of the things which jumped out was the connection between Dylan and Nate so it was great to hear they were getting their own story.

And it's a super sweet one, as they fumble their way through experimenting first with hands and mouths and later with more. They're a great pairing whose friendship journey into sexual attraction felt organic.

This is low angst, moderate steam and a whole load of perfect sweetness.

4.5 stars for the book
4 stars for the narration
This book is a shorter novella that’s a spin-off from the book “Out of the Shadows” by the K.C. Wells. With that being said, I have not read or listened to that book and I made it through this one just fine without being lost or confused with all of the characters. This book can certainly be read and/or listened to as a standalone.

What could go wrong when two drunk guys who have been friends since they were kids make the decision to “watch some porn together?”

Dylan and Nate have been friends since they were 8 years old, like 15+ years. I love that they are both totally and completely clueless of their feelings for each other at the start of this book, they are really just friends, but so obviously (to everyone else) more than “just friends”. I really enjoy the friends to lovers trope in books, especially when it’s the first time really experiencing new feelings for someone of the same gender you wouldn’t normally like in that way. It was refreshing that they kind of fumbled their way through their feelings and different aspects of their relationship taking the time to make sense of it all. They didn’t just jump into bed together and that gave this book more of a real-life feeling to it. Omg, and when they do get together it is totally awkward and fumbling, and funny, cause they have no clue what they are doing, that’s the way sex with someone you know and have a connection with should be, it should be fun as well as steamy. The narration for this part was amusing to listen to as well. And all the embarrassing advice they get from their well-meaning friends throughout the book is pretty funny as well. Nate and Dylan end up being the most adorable couple together.

Audio – This is my first time getting a chance to hear a book by the narrator Daniel Henning and I was delightfully surprised by how much I liked his rendition of this book. He gave us two different voices for each of the main characters that were distinctive enough to keep track of who was talking during the book. I’m always a little worried when I hear new narrators on books from authors I love but I really think he did well with this one and wouldn’t mind getting more of his audiobook narrations to add to my library. Cute book and good narration of the audiobook.

Kris – ☆☆☆
A 100 page novella giving these two bros their own story. I've not read the rest of the series and had no prior knowledge of Nate and Dylan's relationship. While this could be a standalone, I felt I didn't have enough background to really be invested. I couldn't connect with them much at all, I think it's important to be in the know with the rest of the series.

So, having said that, I found the sexual situations to be lighthearted and slightly funny, but they lost all heat, in my opinion. The first encounter in bed between the two boys was exploratory but also too clinical. Do this, do that. The guys are romantically clueless on being with another man and they seek advice from their friends, who recently solidified their own gay relationship and I'm not sure that helped or hindered the story for me. The characters really fell right into each other without any qualms or odd feelings about going from straight to gay. Could have used a bit more drama? Bromantically Yours left me sorta on the fence. Didn't hate it, didn't love it.

Angela – ☆☆☆☆☆
I absolutely adored Bromantically Yours! Not only was the bromance turned more relationship between Nate and Dylan cute to watch play out, but there are some seriously sexy scenes. In fact, their first scene when Nate gave Dylan a hand… I had to put my Kindle down and catch my breath because not only was it unexpected, but it was hawt! What I enjoyed most about this novella is that Wells builds on the decades-long friendship and history as best friends to move their relationship forward without it feeling rushed. Yet she allows them to take it slow, so to speak, when it comes to the sexual aspects of their new relationship status. We get to see Dylan freak out over their first encounter and both men experience nerves as they contemplate more. I liked that they sought out advice, no matter how awkwardly done, from their friends who were able to guide them thoughtfully. Nate’s conversation with his mom broke my heart for him; to learn that the person who is supposed to love you unconditionally has views so different than your own and can dismiss your relationship so easily, that had to hurt. But at least that conversation allowed Nate to realize just how much Dylan meant to him. Their first date was adorable, but their Valentine’s Day date was practically perfect – Dylan did a great job of sweeping Nate off his feet.

If you haven’t read Out of the Shadows yet, don’t worry because it’s not necessary. Nate and Dylan make appearances as Josh’s friends, but they don’t have major roles other than being supportive of his relationship with Christian. If anything, you may end up wanting to read Out of the Shadows because Josh and Christian play pretty big roles in Bromantically Yours as Nate and Dylan find their way from friends to lovers. Either way, Wells has penned a perfectly romantic friends-to-lovers novella that left me with a smile on my face and hoping that it gets released as an audiobook. Bromantically Yours has earned a spot on my holiday re-read shelf and the five stars that goes with it.

First things first: Yes, you can read this story as a stand-alone, but … Trust me when I say you’ll enjoy the story more if you read (the utterly wonderful) Out of the Shadows first. It is in that earlier book that the set-up for this story is first established, and if you’ve read the ‘prequel’ you will know that while Nate and Dylan only see each other as best friends, others, especially those meeting them for the first time, instantly recognise there’s something more brewing between them.

But, while their friends may not be surprised when Nate and Dylan (at last) start to recognise their real feelings for each other, our two men need a bit more time to get their heads around the fact that they are more than ‘just’ best friends. Their journey made me smile from start to finish.

I’m going to keep this review short. It’s not a long book and I honestly believe that the journey Nate and Dylan make is best enjoyed without prior knowledge. Let’s just say it’s sweet, touching, at times laugh out loud funny, and sexy. In fact, I would go as far as to say it is the perfect set-up for a Valentine’s Day romance.

Apart from the delight of losing myself in Nate and Dylan’s revelation and subsequence romance, I have to admit that it was also very nice to get to reconnect with Christian and Josh from Out of the Shadows. Those two men occupy a special place in my heart, and getting a brief glance at their life together was a very special treat.

As books for Valentine’s Day go, this one squarely hit the sweet spot.

I have to say that I came into this one first and it’s meant to be a novella in the series, I think. However, it didn’t take anything from the story, though I was intrigued to know how the other guys in the series met and got together.

In this one, we have Dylan and Nate, who are best friends, but both straight. Everyone seems to see their attraction for each other, even the ladies they take on double dates… but somehow, neither of them work it out until a drunken night together that ends in a kiss. (and a little more, but…the kiss is key)

They do seem ridiculously clueless and the dialogue and the way they go about things, had me questioning how old they were… but, I’ll say for two straight men who realize they have feelings for their best friend; they both take it surprisingly well. Once they realize it, they try dating, which a bit hit and miss, but, sometimes it’s just like that when trying to change the dynamic of a friendship from platonic to romantic. For some reason, I just wasn’t feeling this one and I really wanted to, because I’m a fan of this author and hello…. Did ya see the cover?

However, if you like GFY or Friends to Lovers, I have a feeling you’ll really enjoy this one. Plus, who doesn’t love happy ending?

4 stars from me

3.5* I didn't really realize which book/couple this was until after I started reading. Duh. But anyway, I did enjoy it. It's kind of fun seeing the friends to lovers and I appreciated how Dylan was very forthcoming with his family. You'd think most would hedge about it, but (totally personal opinion here) the involvement of their friends in their relationships was a bit much for me. Do you really need someone to tell you how to have sex or date? That's what the internet is for. LOL But then I can't imagine sharing such intimate details with friends, I'm more self-reliant and they did kind of freak out about how to date when they'd been dating for years. Still, a cute read.

This was adorable! I don’t remember these guys at all from Out of the Shadows – but that’s ok.

I loved how cute they were together and the “discovery” smexy times were hot, hot, hot!

There is pretty much no angst and just a sweet and sexy deepening of feelings.

Highly Recommended!

This was a short quick read. Nate and Dylan have been friends for awhile there friends think they have a bromance going on. They share a drunken kiss that changes everything for them. I liked both of these characters and I also liked the secondary characters. This was a sweet read with low drama. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

At first, I was happy because Nate and Dylan didn't angst over their "handjob-while-watching-porn-after-drinking" session as much. They wanted to explore this new path of relationship... going on dates, watching movies, and such. It was cute. BUT then it seemed like it was all just path of them doing the final goal: having sex. And I got BORED :(

To be honest, I don’t even remember these secondary characters from Out of the Shadows, so it’s not a requirement to read that story first. In any event, these friends of the couple featured in that story are besties who care deeply for one another and the author brings them to life—and love—and shows them that what they were looking for was there all along—they just didn’t realize it. It’s a great story and can certainly be read as a standalone.

This was a sweet romance between two men who suddenly realized that they weren’t just two friends who loved each other as friends—they were two friends who noticed little things like the shape of one’s lips or the length of his lashes. And when they got brave enough to act on that attraction with their first kiss, they were shocked that their attraction added a new layer to their friendship. It didn’t make them throw in the towel and walk away as they had initially feared.

The author took the time to allow this sexual attraction to build slowly and gave them plenty of opportunities to experiment. Josh and Christian from Out of the Shadows are present in multiple scenes as each is available to offer advice when asked. But there’s no carryover from the first book that would disrupt the flow of this one. Nate and Dylan don’t hesitate to ask for help as they navigate their way into man on man love. On a personal note, I enjoyed the brief but fun scene in the sex shop as Nate’s eyes were opened wide when Josh showed him where he could get more information—and supplies.

Not too long, this story is intended as a Valentine’s Day treat for readers and it’s an easy read. Very satisfying and very sweet—better than a box of chocolates and much less calories! I highly recommend this to those who enjoy stories of discovery of sexuality, including those that were formerly labeled as GFY, and in this case, double GFY.

I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads

100 page novella giving these two bro's their own story. I've not read the rest of the series and had no prior knowledge of Nate & Dylan's relationship. While this could be a stand alone I felt I didn't have enough background to really be invested. I couldn't connect with them much at all, I think it's important to be in the know with the rest of the series.
So, having said that, I found the sexual situations to be lighthearted and slightly funny but they lost all heat, in my opinion. The first encounter in bed between the two boys was exploratory but also too clinical. Do this, do that. The guys are romantically clueless on being with another man and they seek advice from their friends who recently solidified their own gay relationship and I'm not sure that helped or hindered the story for me. The characters really fell right into each other without any qualms or odd feelings about going from straight to gay. Could have used a bit more drama? Bromantically Yours left me sorta on the fence. Didn't hate it, didn't love it.
