The John Raptor Omnibus contains 6 extreme novellas that are not for the faint of heart or those with weak
1. Trigger
strong sexual content involving rape and incest; graphic descriptions of aberrant violence and torture; genital mutilation; blood, puke, sh*t, and other bodily fluids; insects and their consumption; vermin; animal costumes and/or furries; clowns; pervasive vulgar language; police brutality; misogyny; reference to the Confederate flag; religious abuse and/or portrayal of religion as abuse.
Four sinners—a dirty cop, two strippers with dark pasts, and a crazy white supremacist—trapped in the bowels of a labyrinth known as Hell House. Their clowns and men/women in animal masks. If the sinners think the torture chamber is terrifying, wait until they meet Gramma Wilkins—a religious pecan who believes very strongly in Old-Testament-style punishment.
2. Hell High
Hell, North Dakota. Here, teenagers lose their innocence in a cesspit of recreational and psychiatric drugs, pseudo-macho ideals, and incessant verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. After a cruel prank causes a girl to commit suicide, her fellow students must face their inner darkness. And none of them may survive prom night...
3. Revenge of the Cannibals!
some readers have been grossed out and triggered by this book. The two main characters are vile pieces of shit. This story is not for the light of heart.
Mike and Cassie are fast food mascots who discover they have more in common than just sharing the lowest rung in the fast food industry—they’re both cannibals.
Sick of being abused and disrespected, the cannibals compile a list of their enemies to kill and eat. Mike is out for simple revenge, but discovers Cassie may be even more sadistic than he.
4. After Hours
A college kid with no aspirations works the late night shift at Helga’s Diner in downtown Fargo. The shift is long and boring. His only form of amusement is watching porn on his phone and talking to the random night owls who wander in. But this night will be anything but boring—when three drunk guys stumble in and commit an unspeakable act.
5. Ritzy
For fans of American
Girls. Money. Fame. Insane.
Tom beautiful, talented, and the most highly paid actor in Hollywood. But the line between fantasy and reality blurs as he slowly loses his mind on the set of his newest film. Tom Rex has been in six feature films this year. Six! He could get away with murder right now.
6. Please...
The last word to ever leave their lips is “please.” Don’t kill me, please. Oh god oh god please please. I’ll do anything you want. Please! I appreciate their manners. Mama never gave me anything unless I said “please.” --- Fergus Falls, MN – A man in a latex dog mask is kidnapping girls that resemble his mother and turning them into cats. How? By cutting off their toes and fingers so they have little “pawsies,” using a hot glue gun to paste fur all over their bodies, and inserting long wires with barbs into their cheeks for whiskers. In doing this, the killer relives his traumatic past with his cat-lady mother over and over and over again. But is someone using the dog-man and his mental illness for an even more insidious purpose?
"If Bret Easton Ellis and Chuck Palahniuk had a love child, his name would be John Raptor."
I love horror, and have been reading it for years. However, this has to be one of the worst books I've ever read. Take away the brutal sex, the fascination with body functions, and the torture porn, and there's nothing left. All of the characters are disgusting people, and there are no stories! Nothing to like or appreciate in any way. Yes, it is that bad.
Hell High was pretty Good. I liked the play between characters and their points of view. The other stories...just long and drawn out with superfluous banter. T-Rex character seemed like he was stolen from American Psycho.
Some parts are a but confusing, but all in all, these stories are tops when it comes to blood and guts! Looking for more from Mr. Raptor in the future!
After two months, I've finished this omnibus. Collection of Extreme Horror Tales
The first two stories (Trigger Warning & Hell High) were better than the rest of the collection but all of them was entertaining enough.
The stories are similar in style, and feature: racism, homophobia, mysogynism, rape, gore, profanity, grossness, vomit, hardcore sex, blasphemy, piss, shit, and other rough stuff.
A few beefs I had with the omnibus:
- John Raptor's writing style is very curt and to the point. The graphicness of the extreme scenes is there but doesn't go in too much description.
- All of the characters' in Raptor's stories are unlikable and only fodder for slaughter. Thus, readers are never emotionally invested.
- Unlike other more established extreme authors, Raptor's stories feel as though they centre more around the shock value than strong stories. Extreme horror works much better when it goes along with a great story. None of the stories in this volume was particularly great stories but just extreme.
Still, I would recommend readers into this type of fiction to give this author a go.
