Mariah Redding believes she's starting her life fresh by accepting a proposal to be a mail-order bride in Creede, Colorado. Things back home in Kentucky didn't end on a happy note, and she's looking forward to the chance to find the happiness she's been denied. It turns out, however, that fate has decided to play a different card.
Hans Jensen doesn't need to marry or have a family - he's perfectly content as he is. But when his sister and her husband are killed in an accident, he's the only living relative who can take in two little boys who are in desperate need of love and acceptance.
So many hearts hurting and in need of healing - can they all find what they're seeking in the town of Creede?
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
Hero: Hans/the blacksmith - Heroine: Mariah 4.5* : I enjoyed reading this heartwarming and wrenching story of finding love when least expect. He had 2 young nephews thrust upon him at the same time he found out about his sister's death. She was an almost abducted mail order bride without a groom. Hans and Mariah's stubbornness and banter made me laugh! The story progressed steadily, has well developed characters with witty/humorous dialogue and a fun developing plot. This story has a very happy and satisfying HEA !!
Mariah is travelling to Creede to start a new life as a mail-order bride. She left Kentucky due to the rumors against her and decides to take a risk in new place as a wife to a man named Lester. During the train ride, Mariah met two little boys who told her they were orphans and they were headed to the same town where their uncles lives. Upon arriving to Creede, she met an unfortunate circumstances However, Mrs. Gladstone has kindly offered her house for Mariah to stay while she needs to find a job Hand is suddenly entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of his two little nephews due to the tragic death of his sister and brother in law. He spent his life working alone as a blacksmith and he has no idea on how to take care of children while trying to run his business at the same time. Lucky for him The author has created a such heartwarming romance between Mariah and Hans and I am very happy for them to have a HEA ending as a married couple. Great story and enjoyed reading it until the very last pages.
Mariah left her home in Kentucky, through no fault nor desire of her own, after the man she was to marry believed a lie and publicly shunned her. Now she’s heading into Creede, Colorado to become a mail order bride. Was she desperate, perhaps, or simply crazy, totally possible – but she’d felt she had no other choice in the matter. She didn’t realize it at the time, but her future was sitting a few rows ahead of her… and another part of that future asked for the seat right beside her on the last leg of her journey. Mariah’s adventures aren’t over just yet, there is still danger to be faced but her new home has so much more to offer than she ever dreamed possible.
I loved Mariah’s spirit, she might be down but she certainly wasn’t staying there. Through a stranger’s kindness she will find herself a temporary home, a very unique benefactress, and if she’s determined and stubborn enough the man she could love for the rest of their lives is here in Creede. Hans is the ultimate description of the self-contained, stubborn, doesn’t need a woman in his life male. Yet, unforeseen circumstances have changed and he’s needing the help of several women… and one woman in particular. He’s a stubborn man, but once he sees the light, he’s also a fast mover. I adored two little boys who didn’t ask for what fate handed them, but knew how to love unconditionally. And one very unique and lovely angel to watch over and guide them all makes Bribing the Blacksmith a delightful romance that any Western Historical Romancer reader would enjoy – I know I certainly did.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Mariah heads for Creede hoping for a fresh start. On the train she meets three people who will bear a major influence on her quest for happiness. Hans is a hard working blacksmith with little time for a personal life. A wife and family are the last things on his to do list. Mariah's groom turns out to be a hoax and Mrs. Gladstone, one of her fellow travelers, takes her under her wing. Two young boys, Peter and Preston, turn out to be Hans' nephews, recently orphaned. She needs and job, he needs a housekeeper, and the rest as they say is history. History with help of a certain guardian angel.
Mariah has arrived in Creed, Colorado, as a mail-order bride. While standing on the platform she is grabbed from behind and nearly kidnapped until the Marshal shows up and stops it. Then she finds out that her would- be husband doesn’t exist.
Hans is Creede’s blacksmith. He has just been presented with his two nephews and told that their parents were killed in a carriage accident. He has no idea how to take care of kids.
After saving the two little boys from being trampled by a horse, she chews out their uncle and then finds herself being the kids’ nanny.
Will an ornery blacksmith and a pretty nanny be able to find love with each other?
This is the ninth book in the Cowboys and Angels series. It's also a new author to the series and she used two new characters (Hans was mentioned twice the Wooing the Widow, but not developed). Readers are treated to a sweet love story and to the characters helping two young boys adjust to losing their parents. There was only a small bit of the seedy side of Creede where women are abducted, but it's keeping the storyline alive to be told in a future book.
The story of Hans, Mariah, Peter and Preston and how they become a family. Hans is the Blacksmith in Creede and he is a bachelor. Mariah is on the train from Kentucky to Creede, Colorado to be a mail order bride and meets Mrs Gladstone as well as two orphan boys traveling to meet their Uncle. I found this book very easy to read, and enjoyable. This is a large Series but can be read as standalone.
The gossip can ruin so many lives. It is a shame when someone who is a preacher will take the word of one over his sweet fiancee. His loss. Getting on a train to start a new life Mariah still has time to help 2 young boys be safe and happy on the trip. So much goes on and it is very exciting. Enjoy reading. You can barely put it down.
Oh! How I loved this sweet story! She came as a mail order bride, almost got kidnapped, and found an amazing friend that helped her through everything! I loved how she was with those poor boys and their uncle! I loved how quickly stubborn Hans changed his mind and I especially loved her angel!
If you look up the words stubborn or crabby in the dictionary, you will see Hans Jensen’s picture! Thankfully, through the help of his friend and thinking things through, he finally opened his heart to Mariah.
I kept thinking “Where is the angel in this story?” Read the story and find out 😉
This was found family done right. After the disappointment of the last book and how frustrated I was with the main female lead, this book put the series back on track for me. I loved Mrs. Gladstone. She was the perfect guardian angel. Hans and the boys were adorable and Mariah was a great heroine. I love this book!
Unfortunately the story ends and you don't have a choice. But to continue with each successive story is so much fun. Getting to know these awesome characters and realize how intricately their lives intertwine, how do these authors do it?
This is a Sweet and heartwarming tale of two people who need each other, they just have to admit it. Hans need someone to help with his two orphaned nephews and Mariah needs a a place to call home.
This was an amazing and sweet story. Loved seeing the couple come together and the boys find a family again. Series on kindle unlimited. Get kindle unlimited and binge read them all.
Another great book by one of my favorite authors. Really like that Marian wanted to take care of herself and went about getting what she wants. With an Angels help of course!!
This was a sweet clean book to read. I want to read the rest of the series from the start. Loved Mrs. Gladstone and how she gave them a gently push towards one another
Don't you think we all need to believe in angels? Amelia Adams is a wonderful writer who has renewed my faith in them. I love all the books she has written that I have read, especially this one.
I really enjoyed reading this book it was very different from other mail order bride books and quite surprising the characters were wonderful and the ending a total surprise . Looking forward to reading more by this author
This book had so much love flowing through the pages, I just couldn't put it down! A wonderful story. Truly heartfelt! Great characters. Ms. Adams has created another masterpiece!
Tenderly written, bringing together grieving orphaned boys, their bachelor uncle and a beautifully loving and wide woman - and of course an angel in disguise- to live and heal each other. Skillfully written.
This is the 9th book in this series and I have to say that when I finish a story I'm eager to start the next one. Because they are linked together is like reading more and more chapters of a beloved novel. Well done.
What an uplifting read. I loved Mrs Gladstone! Loved how the town really 'pitched in' to help the boys and uncle in need. Enjoyed the interactions between the uncle and her. Left me feeling uplifted.
Orphans, handsome men, and 1 beautiful lady are the ingredients of a great book. From being humiliated in her home state, Mariah sets out to make a new future for herself. There is much in store for this lady.
Another great book in a great series. I'm really enjoying this series and especially enjoyed this book. Hans and Mariah needed each other but had to figure that out with a little help.
She is a most amazing story writer. I loved this little tale. She had all kinds of emotions wrapped up in it, with the loss of the boys parents to angels calling and helping her find her way. Great job and lovely book.
