Under the Stars is book two in the Bright Lights Duet by Tia Louise. Even though this is a duet, you should make sure you read the novella, Sundown, between books one and two. There is a string of events that happen in Sundown that tie these two books together. This series will transport you to a side of life you might not know exists, a dark place most of us would rather not know exists. A place where sex, drugs, lies and pain are part of everyday life. A place where you can’t fall in love. There are no happily ever afters here.

It’s been five years, seven months since Mark and Lara were together in New Orleans. Lara thought him dead until he found her on the train but their time together again was short. Mark never gave up and has found her again. Lara is determined to protect Mark. He’s a Detective now. She can’t involve him in this mess. But Mark is not letting her go.



Molly is now nineteen. Her purpose in life is to get revenge, to cross the names off the list one by one that hurt her and Lara. When the last name is off the list, will she finally be free? Will she ever be free?

Mark wants only one thing, Lara. He never gives up on her. He tries his best to protect her. She keeps running and he keeps finding her. Until she finally realizes that he is never going to leave her, that they belong together, that he will be her hero.



This book will take you from France to New Orleans to Seattle in this intense conclusion to Lara and Mark’s love story. This story will suck you in and you won’t be able to come up for air until the final page. Lara and Mark truly have a love that we only can dream of but everything is stacked against them. They won’t be able to look to the future until they can finally close the door on the past.



I loved every page of this series. This story is dark, it’s intense, but also it’s a beautiful love story. I’m not going to forget Mark and Lara for a long time. Molly is going to get her own book coming out in March called Hit Girl. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Under the Stars is the final book in Tia Louise’s fast paced, sexy, and suspenseful duet. After reading the first book, I was anxious to find out what would happen between Mark and Lara. I’m so happy the wait wasn’t long! 


The sins of the past are never far away. We carry them with us in our hearts wherever we go. No matter how far we run, we can never outrun ourselves.

Lara and Mark  have a past, but Lara never hoped or dreamed they could have a future. She never let her self hope for a happy ever after with him, or anyone for that matter. It’s been five years since they’ve been together, and even though they’re back in each others lives, Lara is determined to protect Mark. Mark is a detective now and Lara doesn’t want him to get into anything that could sabotage his job.

Mark loves Lara with everything in him. He’s proven over and over he would sacrifice anything for her. I loved their love story. After everything this couple had been through, they were more than deserving to catch a break and live happily together.

“We fell in love outside the theater, away from the lights and the façade. We fell in love in the night, under the stars.”

This story kept me on my toes. It kept me invested. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next and what direction it would take. Tia Louise does a fantastic job writing suspense. This duet is the best kind of romantic suspense. It keeps you guessing with the twists and turns, keeps you captivated, and has enough emotion to really feel for these characters. These books were highly entertaining and I can’t wait to read Molly’s story. I’m nervous about it, but so excited!

Simply AMAZING!! Once again this couple consumed my thoughts even when the Kindle wasn't in my hand. Mark and Lara have been on my mind since the moment I picked up book one! Under the Stars is the conclusion to Under The Lights and it did not disappoint!! I was anxiously waiting for this book and desperate for the outcome, and once again Tia left me on the edge of my seat whilst reading. Mark and Lara's story is just as steamy and fast-paced as the last with some super swoony moments and unexpected shocks throughout. I recommend reading Sundown (Novella) in between though as it gives a little more action and suspense leading into this book and more of a story on Molly who I can't wait to know more of.
Incredible, I loved every word and Mark Fitzhugh is super hot!!

What a fantstic duet this turned out to be. Great writing. A great plot. Likable characters. Love. Romance. Heartache. Pain. Perseverance and redemption. What more could you possibly ask for?


 

~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
The writing in this one was just as fantastic as in the previous book. The pace was perfect and at no time did I feel that the plot dragged (an issue I had with book one). The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. That said, I DID find the beginning a little confusing. The reason being I never got around to reading the novella book that takes place between book one and book two of this duet. It is this readers opinion that you really DO need to read that novella or you will find yourself a bit clueless about the events that take place from when we left this couple at the end of book one to when they pick up again at the beginning of book two. I will go as far as to say that the author probably should have included that novella as a bonus at the start of book two. That's just MY two cents though.


~HERO~
I ADORED Mark in book one and I continued to adore him in this book. I think the man might be close to godly in his patience and his ability to forgive Lara because some of the shit she pulled (always running, always putting Molly first) would have had me kicking her a$$ to the curb. 


~HEROINE~
Lara...she was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I had small issues with her in book one and again in this one, she annoyed me. One, she came across as a bit of a doormat when it came to Molly. I got she felt responsible for her. Made a promise...yadda...yadda...yadda. But she kept placing Molly above her own daughter AND Mark (at least in the beginning) when her loyalties SHOULD have been to them. Two, she did something that as I felt was just SO unbelievably selfish and my heart broke for Mark. He will NEVER get those months he missed back. Now that said, she DID finally get her head out of her a$$ but not until Mark YET AGAIN chased her down. 


~SIDE CHARACTERS~
I loved the cast of secondary characters in this one (well apart from Molly). I loved seeing Roland again, and he needs a book of his own. I also would love to see a book featuring Evie, Armand, and Phillip. Their story is waiting to be told (a girl can hope). You know who I could not stand? MOLLY...OMG was she a selfish and self-centered BRAT for the entirety of this book. I wanted to bitch slap her face so many times. That said, I still very much want to read the next book(s?) featuring her and hopefully Joshua because I quite liked him.





~HEAT LEVEL~
Medium. There were some good spicey sex scenes in this one and the frequency fit the tone of the story. 


~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. The beginning was the angstiest part of the entire book. Once the couple moves past a few issues it is pretty much smooth sailing in the relationship department. It's mostly the revenge angle that moves the plot forward. There was also no OW or OM drama. Because I haven't read the novella that takes place between book one and book two (five years and seven months pass between the full-length books) I can't say if either of the main characters slept with others during those years apart. I will say that there weren't any other people for them once they meet up again (in the novella).


~IN THE END~
I LOVED this duet. It was a magical love story of two people who found (and kept finding) the other half of their soul. Through ups and downs and heartache and pain these two always found a way back into each other's arms. The writing was fantastic. Both the plot and characters well developed. The ending will leave you with a huge smile on your face. And there is more to come with Molly's book. This duet gets two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.

I’m a little torn by this book. The beginning started very abruptly. There’s a span of five years where we have a lot of things that have happened since the last book.

However, many of these happenings left us guessing and we got bits and pieces of what occurred over the years through the rest of the book. That was frustrating. You had to go into the book at least a quarter of the way to even feel comfortable at what was going on.

I’m also not sure about Lara. I really don’t like the way she treated Mark and I certainly wouldn’t continue my activities along with chasing Molly around the country if I wasn’t wanted or needed, not to mention her secret we learn about in this book.

The bulk of the story had a lot of suspense. There was also a lot of crime, grit, and raw descriptions that could put someone off of the story, much like book one.

Thankfully all’s well that ends well and we have a favorable happy HEA but not without some stressful situations that kept the intrigue up and the interest high.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend the series to another reader. This one is light on the romance and heavy on the main theme.

Great end to this duet.



I 've been dying for this book after reading Under the Lights and Sundown (Sundown is a novella). Mark and Lara's story is just so good. There story is sweet and light it's dark and full of hard times. There relationship as been up and down. They want to protect each other and be with each other but sometimes it's just not that easy. Under the Stars just shows how much they have both grown and how there relationships can stand just about anything.



Lara is so strong in this book. Even when she wants something for herself she will leave it to do whatever her and Molly have set out to do. I didn't really understand why she would do this in parts of the book. I know her life her Molly is so deep and it alway well. Molly is like a sister best friend and even daughter in some respect. Lara can't help but be protective of her they have been through so much together and she has put herself in dangerous situation for Molly. But Lara needs to start thinking about herself and her fortune. I can understand there revenge people did need to pay for what they had done but it ran a lot more deeper for Molly than Lara. I felt a lil sorry for Lara she needed to think of herself and Mark but needed to help Molly as well.



Mark is just an all round great guy. Plus he is just super sexy there much this guy can't do. The love he as for Lara is just so strong. Even when he finds out thing that Lara as done he doesn't care she is the love of his life. She can run from him and be stubborn but he will alway find her and deal with anything that's goin to make there life hard. I even thing he has love for Molly the easy he helps them is just amazing. His career could be on the line with helping them but he doesn't care he is always a step ahead. He really can't do anything wrong in my eyes I just love his character.



This duet is amazing. It has had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing. I read this book so quick Mark and Lara's story is so good. They have been through so much together the ups and downs have been hard. They have been battered and bruised but they still find each other and come out stronger together. I highly recommend this book. This author is one of my favourites her books just keep getting better and better. I can't get enough of her book. I m dying for Molly's story I know it's goin to be just had good as this.

This quote pretty much sums up the incredible journey that is Mark and Lara’s love story! Amazing and undeniable chemistry! Explosive chemistry and an intriguing and suspenseful storyline that just won’t quit! Ms. Louise is back with the second book in her Bright Lights Duet and it hit all HIGH NOTES for me! It did NOT disappoint in any way and if you didn’t love these two characters before, get ready to be overwhelmed with pure love for them this go-round. UNDER THE STARS is action-packed, scorching hot, and there seems to be a surprise at every turn. This was one hell of a page-turner, keeping me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I’m incredibly grateful that she didn’t make us wait long in between books because that would have driven me to drink! After book one, I was filled with a burning NEED to know that happens next and in this final epic installment, everything comes to light and this is when your heart and soul will begin to mend. Just a warning, you will become incredibly emotionally connected to Mark and Lara. You will also become addicted to the well-being of another character that you’ve met before in this series and once you read the chilling epilogue to UNDER THE STARS, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. So MAJOR things to come from the very talented Tia Louise, and I can’t wait for more!

Just a side note: I HIGLY RECOMMEND that you read Tia’s novella titled Sundown in between these two books in the duet. It’s a little something extra special, but I think it made UNDER THE STARS that much more compelling. It’s available now on its own, so do yourself a favor and read that quick little sexy treat before diving into this gem!

I loved the conclusion to this duet!

Mark finds Lara only to lose her again. When he finds her once more he also meets his baby girl and the vow he makes to keep them both safe is sealed in his heart. As they battle against the past and try to find closure they are not always in agreement. Molly’s agenda causes some friction between her and Lara that adds to Lara’s troubles as well. Through it all this couple grow closer and stronger learning to depend on each other.

There is a lot of action in this story as they seek out the ones who can still hurt them. These outside sources ratchet the angst up to extreme levels. I never knew what these characters were going to be walking into next. Along the way they gain additional support from Armand who seems to have an interesting backstory and I wonder if we’ll see his book one day.

Watching Mark with Jillian was swoon worthy as he immediately falls in love with his baby girl. Who doesn’t love to see a big bad dude going soft over a baby? I enjoyed the bit of lightheartedness that was added as Roland seemed to have the magic touch, or so he said, when it came to Jilly.

I loved that this couple get the HEA after so many years of despair and heartache. Now to just keep an eye on Ms. Molly and her interesting way of helping others who have suffered as she has.

First , I thought both books were interesting and kept me entertained. That said both books had several storylines that were odd and I was often left with more questions than answers.

My first thought when I began reading was why is this book set 7 years from the end of the last book. The only reason I can think of is that the main plot of this book is Molly's revenge on the men who raped her. Perhaps the author wanted her to grow up before plotting this course but I felt that we were thrust to far into the future. I never understood her thought process.

I also didn't understand where Lara and Molly got their money to finance their travels and lifestyle. It seemed like they spent the last seven years living with Freddie and his sister. I was hoping they were whisked away to start over. I envisioned Lara has a cabaret singer, in a relationship with Freddie and Molly an artist who is thriving in Paris. I was a little disappointed that they didn't grow more as people.

As for Mark he's now a detective living in Alaska. I'm not sure how he survived the beating, how he became a detective and why he's living in Alaska. He's also traveling the world to find Lara. He didn't seem like the brightest bulb as he never looked in New Orleans for her and Molly. These two cross paths over the next few months only to end up together after several run away attempts.

Throughout the book Mark and Lara continue to help Molly and her cause. They confront the evil and save their friends and family.

It wasn't my cup of tea but as I stated earlier it kept me interested and turning the pages.

Under the Stars continues Mark and Lara’s story from Under the Lights and I was all kinds of anxious to find out how their story would end. I will mention there is a novella, Sundowm, which was released in an anthology awhile back and has also now been released separately. That novella fills in the years between Under the Lights and Under the Stars so I suggest reading it. As we begin this conclusion, Lara and Molly are on a mission of revenge and Mark is on a desperate search to find Lara. A lot happens along these two journeys that I do not want to spoil here, but I will say it definitely keeps you turning the pages. This was not quite as dark as book one and both Lara and Mark have really grown over the years. Once they are reunited their love is even stronger and I really loved how was Louise tied it all together and ended this wonderful duo.

Under the Stars by Tia Louise is the second part of a duet and not a standalone, you must read the previous book, Under the Lights, first.
Under the Stars picks up nearly six years after Under Lights left off.
Mark, Lara and Molly escaped the hell that was New Orleans and the burlesque show. A lot has canged in all this time and some things are stayed as they were, and that includes the love Mark and Lara have for each other.
They´re survivors and while one wants peace only, the other wants justice and the third revenge at all costs. What a explosive mix.
I started reading and was immediatedly again succed into their world. I read the book in one sitting - I had to know what happens to the characters.
Under the Stars is the heartwrenchingly concusion of the Bright Lights Duet. A story about loss, love, hurt, revenge, healing and justice dealt out.

An amazing second half in the Bright Lights Duet. Under the Stars is not as dark as book one but it is oh so good. Think revenge, justice and love. Lara and Molly are on the run in this one seeking out those men who did the unthinkable. Mark is on the search for his love Lara. He never stops looking. I love how strong their love is. How he never gives up even when Lara doesn't know what else to do. A beautiful love that finally comes into the light. Mark and Lara are made for each other. Seriously I couldn't put this one down. Tia Louise has such a knack with her stories that draws you in and stays with you for a little while. I have a feeling that Molly's book is going to be epic and I can't wait.

My heart broke in the first book seeing all that Lara and Molly had gone through but in this book I watched with amazement as Molly finds justice for what had been done to her with the help and assistance of Lara. Vigilante Justice is the path Molly has chosen and we follow her through her quest to put an end to all the men involved with her brutal rape as a 13 year old, this story takes place approximately five years after Molly and Lara escaped New Orleans.

4.5 star Review Under The Stars (Bright Lights Duet #2) by Tia Louise
This is the second and final book in the Bright Lights Duet and what a story. You must read the previous book Under The Lights first.
I love romantic suspense and this is a good example. Ms.Louise has woven a tale, of danger, mystery, suspense and intrigue in such a way as to keep the reader invested and guessing from the first chapter until the very end.
What an emotional roller coaster of a read this was. There were a gauntlet of emotions brought forward in this book and I just had to know how she was going to conclude the duet; a story of love, passion, loss, heart ache, revenge and so much more.
Who can be trusted? That’s the biggest question throughout this book.
Under The Stars is also a vastly different book from what I have come to expect from Tia Louise and much darker in my opinion than anything else I have read from her. Having said that, it is extremely well written and the characters had me invested from the start.
This was a fitting conclusion to the Bright Lights Duet and one I recommend.

Under the Stars is the second part in the Bright Lights Duet and it cannot be read as a stand-alone you will need to have read Under The Lights To understand the plot and the story. This book picks up a few years after the first ends and Mark is still searching for the love of his life Lara, he never stopped looking and he will never give up on her even when he finds her and she try’s to push him away. Will this couple finally get closure and the hea they deserve .......
This book is a real page turner it’s full of ups and downs, twists and turns and it’s a beautifully written love story. Tia Louise has once again given us characters who are strong and once again she leaves us wanting more but I understand we are going to get Molly’s story so fingers crossed we get to find out just what’s happening in Mark and Lara’s life. Great conclusion to a brilliant duet.

I was beyond excited when I got my hands on an advanced copy of Under The Lights! I was dying a slow death not knowing what was happening in Mark and Lara’s world.

Under The Stars picks up where Under The Lights leaves off. Lara and Molly are on a quest for revenge all the while Mark is desperately searching for Lara. This book maintains the intensity that we saw in Lights, but it doesn’t have such a dark feel. Tia Louise infuses this book with an exhilarating pace and perfectly timed twists and turns that made this an absolutely unputdownable book!

Gah, Mark! I seriously didn’t think I could possibly love that man more, but I do! He never gives up his search for Lara and his love for her never waivers no matter the circumstances. Lara and Mark are the perfect pair. Their love is unparalleled, their chemistry is blazing, their journey is epic, and their happily ever after so well deserved. I loved every single word of their story and didn’t want to let them go. All the stars.

This book is intense, on a less desperate and dark level than the first book in the series.
It is fast paced and thrilling with some really unexpected twists and turns that made me hold my breath.
Then there are these moments when you think everything goes down the drain only to find a silver lining on the horizon the next moment...
There are so many ups and downs I was gasping for air not only once!
Once again I had to read on and on to find out whether Mark and Lara find some closure to their past and a happy ending…
This is again a page turner and the very worthy sequel to Under The Lights and I can not wait to read Molly's story!

5 Vengeful CROWNS

At the end of Under the Lights, I truly felt like my heart had be beaten. It was bruised and bleeding, and I wasn't sure how it was going to heal. Tia Louise did it, though. She delivered a romance brimming with heat and suspense. I couldn't put it down.

Lara and Mark are still very much the same characters who readers met in book one of this duet. The main difference is the maturity and ability to think things through before acting (sometimes). With this book, they have a bit more to lose and to fight for when they are going up against those who would do they harm. What has changed is the electricity between these two. It is a constant undercurrent whenever they are together.

I couldn't turn the pages in this story fast enough. The vengeance and danger alone are enough to suck in most readers, but Tia Louise also delivers insane chemistry with Mark and Lara. Plus, the grown-up Molly is now a forced to be reckoned with. Her character became intriguing during this book, and I cannot wait to see where she takes this character. It is going to be AMAZING! (This is relatively vaugue, but I don't want to ruin any of the journey. Just know you need to take it!)

The Bright Lights duet, without question, is Tia Louise's best work. With this duet, she exemplifies that perfect balance of suspense and romance. She kept me glued to my e-reader frantically turning pages to see how the story would play out while simultaneously fanning myself whenever Lara and Mark were alone. It is complete and utter perfection, and I'm so excited to hear we are getting to stay in this world for a bit longer!

Revenge and Justice comes together in the second book of the duet. I fell in love and became protective with the characters involved. I was at the edge of my seat throughout! I found myself thinking the possibilities of what the next pages held because you just didn’t know what was going to happen next.

Trust is a BIG factor in the story, till the very end you will second guess yourself on who to trust or if they are really trustworthy. I really enjoyed Lara and Mark’s story.

Under the Stars by Tia Louise is the conclusion to her Bright Lights Duet and Mark and Lara's story. What a roller coaster this was. I never knew where the story was going and that is 100% a great thing. The first book, Under the Lights, built the world and set the stage (no pun intended) for the epic romance that is Mark and Lara.

It's been five years since the devastating events at the end of book one. Mark and Lara thought they were lost to each other. When they meet again on a passenger train traveling through dangerous winter on the Alaska route, they both have to set aside their motives for being there and spend the time they have reuniting. When Mark wakes to find Lara gone and a dead body left behind it puts his career as a detective in jeopardy.

This is just the beginning of a journey of filled with the chase, discovery of secrets and past crimes, and rediscovering love.

That's about all I can say in regards to the story for the sake of spoilers. Told in dual POV. This story ends but Molly's story continues in Hit Girl: A Bright Lights Novel. Enjoy!

**FULL REVIEW**

The second installment of the Bright Lights Duet gave me all the answers I was left with after Under the Lights, but left me with so many more pertaining to one little loose end...

I cannot wait to see what happens in Hit Girl which comes out on my Anniversary! *SQUEE*

For now, let's talk about the stars...and how people fall in love under them, die under them, and even come back to life under them.
Mark and Lara have this dynamic, he's romantic with a hero complex, and she's fearful of what we thought were commitment issues. She's running and he's chasing.

When he finally catches her, he is faced with every last demon she carries...his vow to love and protect her is put to the test and I love how he continually rises to the occasion. (Get your mind out of the gutter, he's a true gentleman.)

Lara comes off as meek, and even a little aloof, but for some reason, Mark doesn't get the hint and I think that's what I enjoyed most about this story. His pursuit of her never stopped. And when she finally gives in, it makes everything else worth it.

Louise does a wonderful job of giving just enough to keep you reaching for more...more I can't wait to read. Sooner rather than later!

Under the Stars is beautifully written with a shocking conclusion.

Mark and Lara come together to find answers but they come at a cost. Friendships are questions and lives are at risk in the hunt for justice. Mark and Lara's chemistry is hot and smoking- a couple made for each other.

Under the Stars is the gripping conclusion to Under the Lights. The story is full of intrique, emotions, and the twists and turns kept me glued to my kindle from beginning to the end. The characters were well developed and I liked them all. Mark and Lara had scorching chemistry from the get go, and they only got hotter. I recommend you read this great entertaining series!
