This is some of the most edifying work I've read in years. Candlish does a beautiful job keeping Christ in the center of the exposition. The Old Testament 'heroes' are role models for us, only in that they put their faith in the Christ to come and trusted in His righteousness, not their own. The chapters which look at the lives of Jacob and Joseph are pure gold. I found myself slowing down as I neared the end of this work because I didn't want it to end.
