While on a job, Dale–a young but accomplished adventurer–comes across a little demon girl all alone in the forest. Dale can’t bear to leave her there to die, so instead, he takes her home! Demon or not, Latina is beyond adorable, and it is not long before he finds himself head over heels with being her guardian. Can Dale handle the trials and tribulations of childcare and being an adventurer?
This is the story of how a demon child foundling changed the life of her guardian, transformed from a carefree young adventurer, to that of a doting parent. It is a heart-melting story, as the adorable young Latina can easily capture the heart of the reader, as she did with the rest of the cast in her new home among the humans.
This is the manga adaptation of a popular light novel, thus if this story interests you and the availability of translated editions is lacking, one can always go into the main source material for the story. That said, although it is in a fantasy setting, don't expect too much sword and sorcery action, just be charmed by the cuteness of the said daughter in the title.
Oh, dear, I've been tricked into reading the manga adaptation of a Japanese light novel series. But the little demon girl at the center of the book, Latina, is so adorable and her adoptive human father, Dale, is so doting that my stay-at-home-dad heart just melted.
This is a pretty low-key fantasy series with the big adventures in this volume being learning to read and getting lost during a shopping trip to the medieval mall. But Latina's personality, earnest but quick to cheerfulness, just lights up everything.
Does the library have more volumes? Three? Hold-hold-hold!!!
So I'll just come right out and say it. Not much happens in If It's For My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord.
If you're looking for action this isn't the manga for you.
It's really just a cute, sweet manga about an adventurer who finds a young demon girl lost in the woods all by herself and he takes her in and decides to raise her.
Super cutesy. Probably more of a 3.5 for me than a 4.
That was so cute. One could flip this open to any given page and see the cuteness that this whole book is about!
This was ridiculous, charming, and adorable. It’s about a teenaged boy who is an adventurer (not sure) and stumbles across a toddler girl. With horns. Who’s a demon. She pretty much acts like an adorable toddler who doesn’t have fits (thankfully) and is smarter than she seems.
I loved the art. It fits the story and it’s pleasing to the eyes because it’s proportional for the most part.
There’s not much of a story in this one, but it is the beginning, so we’ll see what happens in the next one!
If I had not already been familiar with this story because of the show, I may not have made it through. it was the same cuteness, yes, but it moves very slow and the transitions are poor. Many points for cuteness though!!
Basically just a really cute and sweet read, you will die of diabetes. It's not too out there with characters or story, but if you want a feel good read give it a go.
Art: The art has some great expressions and some nice backgrounds. Latina herself contrasts well with the world's art, I don't know if thats intential or not but her eyes are more detailed then the other character. The rest of the seems kinda limited, and the character designs besides Latina are bland.
Characters: Not the most fleshed out characters and they're pretty one-dimessional but they're still likable.
Story: Story's not too much, but it's held up by it's wholesome moments and character interaction. I will give it credit for being a non isekai manga/LN. The transitions however seem kinda rushed and the pacing is too fast.
My review covers volumes 1 through 3 of the manga. This manga is [probably aimed more at someone 8-years old than 78-years old. Nonetheless I enjoyed. Volumes 1 and 2 set up the characters in the story. They are pleasant, but might not have led me to buy volume 3 if I had not already had it. Volume 3 delivered a punch that earned my high rating. I will be looking for volume 4, which has not been published in English yet. There is a series of light novels that may bear consideration as well.
Short, sweet, and absolutely adorable, If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord was a pleasure to read. Though it went very quickly and the transitions were, at times, confusing, I did like this book and hope to read the second volume soon. (By the way, this is my second manga, so I'm NOT an expert!)
Very generic and cute, more a slice-of-life family story that just so happens to take place in a fantasy realm, rather than, say, the contemporary settings of Usagi Drop. Not sure if there'll be enough to hold my interest but might try another volume.
Btw, I think that volumes 1 through 3/4 of the manga are the adaptation of the first light novel in its entirety, so this manga series is gonna be long since there are nine light novels..... I’m not angry, Latina is adorable.
I have a daughter so I was obligated to read this. I'm hoping the next volume will be better. The transitions were not done well and the story lacks direction. I like the foundation of the story though.
This is really adorable. I love how all these scary adventurers that go to that tavern completely fall for Latina's cuteness. It's hilarious. And Dale is still rather a kid himself and yet seems so happy to get to be her guardian and wanting to do everything for her. Just a sweet story.
I enjoyed the book. It's an easy going story that always nice to read if you need to take a break from the real world. The art style was amazing and the story was really cute.
A cute manga, but something felt lacking for me. Just not enough hook to cause me to want to read the whole series, though I might try the second volume. I like the concept and the fantasy elements.
I got this because I thought it looked cute and I was not let down. The story seems simple, there's not very much to it. Although it is very cute and a calm read.
