I grew up in an Irish Catholic, working class family and was the first to go to college. I didn’t have expensive toys, so I used my own imagination for entertainment. And then I abused alcohol for entertainment. I spent the first thirty years of my life convincing myself I wasn’t an addict and the last ten worrying about all the potential threats the substances hid from me.
Anxiety and depression are always hiding in the corner, waiting to jump me when I start to feel happiness.
I had to break through family programming and accept the role of the black sheep. In my 30s I started writing horror and formed a heavy metal band while my family rolled their eyes, sighed and waited for the “phase” to end.
I spent years paralyzing myself with self-loathing and criticism, keeping my creativity smothered and hidden from the rest of the world. I worked a job I hated because that’s what Irish Catholic fathers do. They don’t express themselves, they pay the damn mortgage. I may have left my guilt and faith behind long ago, but the scars remain.
My creativity is my release, my therapy and my place to work through it all. I haven’t had a drink in a long time, but the anxiety and depression are always lurking. Writing novels and songs keeps it at bay. I scream over anxiety with my microphone and I turn my guitar up loud enough to drown out the whispers of self-doubt.
I hope to leave a legacy of art that will continue to entertain and enrich lives long after I’m gone. I want others to see that you don’t have to conform to the mainstream to be fulfilled.
Don’t be afraid of the dark. Embrace it.

Characters needed to be expanded
It was ok. So much missing. Hated some of the characters dying (like Chloe). It needed more depth. The masters were shallow. I usually finish a series like this in 2 days but this was slow and rather boring. It left me wanting more back story.

Got through the first book. Something was missing, or perhaps it was just the very unlikable main character who lacked respect for pretty much everyone yet seemed to be being set up to be the hero of the story. With a bit more depth or saving qualities to his personality I would have tried to finish ... but I just wasn't really interested enough :/.

I have reviewed each part, so will just say that this trilogy is different from many others - yes, there were expected scenes but there was an unexpected enemy.
Well-written for the most part, just a few niggles, however, I did enjoy it overall. The characters fit well into the story but maybe Dax was more in-depth than the others; though he was the main character. Issac was a good foil. The Masters reminded me of those in power today - deliberate, I suspect. There were also some political issues raised.
Definitely worth reading.
Recommended.

Dex ran through the streets running from the red eyes zombies. They killed or turned everyone into creatures like them. Then he
met papa midnight. Papa told him that only he could kill the vampires. Yet they keep coming after him and killing anyone he befriended. His only hope was to leave the city and head north. They were coming after him. Only the angel could save him. Papa midnight had told him in his dreams. Can he save mankind?

Couldn't put this book down!
Be prepared to leave your judgemental attitude at the door. Just because someone is a convicted murderer, it doesn't exclude him from being the possible savior of the human race! Now if you can manage to stay alive while in his company, since it seems to be hazardous to everyone's health, enjoy the bloody, tear filled trip...

Vampires
I am usually not into vampire books or movies. This story did keep me interested and on the edge of my seat. The characters were built up well. Making their connections realistic, growing together as it went. I would recommend the book to anyone that likes apocalyptic stories. Action and adventure with or without vampires. Thanks keep up the good work.

Vampires
I have not been a fan of reading books about vampires; however, this series has changed my mind. Now there is some offensive language. If you can stand the language then this kind of apocalypse slash vampire story is for you.

Final Awakening
Wow what a roller coaster ride this trilogy was. I'm not a fan of vampire stories and didn't k is this one would be, but enjoyed every moment. The sometimes edge of the seat moments made my heart beat faster. Great read

Great story!
I neglected many chores while reading this! Good character development, lots of action. I spent 3 months in New Orleans, so I enjoyed the setting as well.

I enjoyed this series a lot
It took me a bit as there were parts I found annoying to read (I can't even tell you why; I just was) but once I got past it, I really liked it.

This was a good story but there was a lot of (what I call empty words). Still, it was different for a post -apocalyptic story. The ending was great 👍.
