Eileen Myles is a LAMBDA Literary Award-winning American poet and writer who has produced more than twenty volumes of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, libretti, plays, and performance pieces over the last three decades.
very much enjoyed this little book (the hanuman edition)! i actually think i have read most of these before in chelsea girls but somehow it reads different when the pages are tiny. her writing reminds me that everything works out, even when the world is weird and scary.
“i have waited all my life for permission. i feel it growing in my breast. a war is storming and it is behind me and i am moving my forces into life.”
Didn't realize until I got to "Bath, Maine" that I had read these stories already as they were reprinted in CHELSEA GIRLS, a book that I abandoned halfway thru because I had a sort of overdose of Eileen Myles's voice and couldn't hear sentences with punctuation anymore. Ok, now I can return this book back to Southern Connecticut.
Unique little book (didn't read this edition, but a beautiful tiny yellow one by Hanuman Editions) that reads like a diary or a written down monologue. Kind of raw and very personal and interesting.
