"Unless you can magically pull tape out of your"--wait, we were still at school--"ear."
No way was I going to talk to the fashionistas.
Lisa and I sat at our normal table in the smart girl/bookworm section of the cafeteria.

“If this were a novel, the love of a good woman would save West and turn him into a happier person.”
“I’m pretty sure that only happens in books,” Lisa said. “In real life, if you’re unhappy, you need to work to change yourself. Having someone who cares about you helps, but it’s not a magic anti-jerk pill.”
The Dating Debate features West and Nina, both of whom are next door neighbors. Nina is dead honest and is a book worm. West is continuously annoyed by Nina’s honestly and her ability to constantly turn things into a debate. He really does not know what to make of her.
West and Nina are such a funny couple. I love that both of them are book worms. Their debates on books like Harry Potter and constant references to my favorite characters in the Harry Potter series really made me laugh. Plus, that made them super relatable. In addition, both of them are strong individuals. Nina is extremely honest and she is an anti-valentines day person. I love her arguments and strong opinions. She really reminded me of myself.
West has a secretly guarded secret. His home like isn’t as cracked up to be. He struggles with his relationship with his father. And, he does have typical teenage issues. However, his family is dysfunctional. West is one of my favorite YA book boyfriends. I love how he is extremely real. He does prefer to bottle up issues and can be stupid and extremely dense at times. However, when he mans up it is super swoony.
The romance between West and Nina is super sweet with tons of chemistry. I love how their chemistry sizzles the pages, but there is real emotion. Their relationship gradually turns from enemies-friends-lovers. I like how there is a gradual progress and you get to feel their love.
The biggest plus in this book is that there are parents involved. In many YA novels, there is absentee parent syndrome. Here, family plays a big aspect. The family shapes the characters and I love how they finally come to terms with their parents.
Overall, this is an extremely sweet romance. It’s a great filler and a nice quick read. I highly recommend this book if you are into sweet YA romance!

“I couldn’t date someone who didn’t read, much less someone who didn’t understand the fabulousness that was Harry Potter.”
“Lisa was picking me up in an hour for our Friday night Nerd Girl festivities. We go to the bookstore, ooh and ah over all the books, and then pick out a precious few to buy. Afterward, we drink frothy coffee concoctions in the cafe while we discuss how book boyfriends are so much easier to deal with than guys in real life.”
