I started this series back in 2009 when the first book in the series was released. And finally finished this 6 book series 16 years later. Needless to say, it’s never too late to finish a book series. Series as a whole was a 5 star. But then again I could be bias cause I think all her books I read (and I have read a lot) are 5 stars lol.
A closet romantic puts more than his heart at risk for a love he never wanted to find. Bachelor Unbound is as unpredictable as it is romantic. Zion creates beautiful pieces of jewelry that celebrate love, but is haunted by a secret that has tarnished his view of it. When Celine comes into his life, his world shifts. She tests him at every turn. Her beauty is captivating, her spirit irresistible, but her secrets could spell their downfall. Will the last man standing, risk everything for his happily ever after? Jackson makes sexy, sweet and suspenseful, spellbinding.
Finally, we get the ever so sexy Zion’s story. Hold on to your hearts, things are going to get interesting.
Zion Blackstone is the last of the Guarded heart club, and he is determined to be a lifetime member. After his mom’s death bed confession Zion is convinced that true honest love was impossible to achieve. Zion made a name for himself by designing one of a kind Zion jewelry. What Zion did not know is all his rules are about to be challenged.
Celine Michaels is what some people would call a spoiled princess jet setter, but when they discover what Celine is all about the shock factor is evident. Celine Michaels can hold her own against any man so why was she stuck by Zion Blackstone’s presence, sure his was hot with the capital H, but there was something more.
Their draw to one another is evident. What I enjoyed about this pair is they show that there is much more to them on many levels. Both with past and present emotional luggage they seemed intelligent enough to work through their challenges.
Supporting characters were from the previous books in the Bachelors on Demand Series as well as some new ones. I would say that Bachelor Unbound could be read as a standalone, but you would most likely miss out on Zion and his God brothers connection. I did how ever have a problem with Celine’s father, I wanted to smack him. The man is clues when it came to Celine.
Unfortunately, Bachelor Unbound this is the last book in the Bachelors on Demand Series by the delightful Brenda Jackson. I have followed this series from the beginning it is my second favorite series by Ms. Jackson As always, she pens strong men, and even stronger women; her brilliance of writing sexy as well as heartfelt moments always draws me in. I am in hope that soon there will be yet another new series soon.
This was my first book in this series and I am not sure if that was a good thing or not - This can be read as a standalone but there is a lot of reference to previous characters. I liked the premises of friends bound from childhood by a long time friendship - family but not in blood and that each of them was so different yet so alike. Zion is a bit reserved for the first chapter or two and quite quick to judge others. I get that is part of his business but I had a problem with it. He does eventually thaw and we get a glimpse as to why he was that way. I guess I can forgive him 😉 Celine, I happened to like - she knows how to play the game - she is intelligent, caring and truly a strong lead character. The storyline was engaging a few "Oh NO" moments twisted with some cosmic tragedy - definitely kept me engaged and eager for the next scene. I did have trouble with the relationship between our two main characters. They just didn't have the chemistry I would have liked. They had some very touching moments between them and the romance is there - just for me, something did not click. I read a comp copy and am eager to read the preceding novels in this series - I enjoyed the secondary characters and am now a bit curious
How do you have such a hold on your child that you manipulate where she goes, who she dates and then sets up false PR stunts saying she is marrying a man she doesn't love. Then falls in line to have her kidnapped? When Celine and Zion see each other for the first time the sexual chemistry was there. Zion all Alpha man living with his demons in Rome is a exquisite maker of implicit jewelry for the First Lady an then is summoned to create a design for Celine. I loved this love story. Could not put it down. Fast paced and mysterious..
This was an interesting love story. I love the fact that although Celine could have lived a life of a spoiled rich girl she chose to give to others. Her kind loving heart and her beauty made her capture the heart of the sworn bachelor Zion. There were twists and turns throughout the story that made it a great romantic read.
This book was soooo worth the wait. I have really enjoyed this Bachelor In Demand Series. Xavier was my favorite, but Zion has pushed him to second place.
I'm sorry, but this book did nothing for me. It wasn't terrible. It was OK, nothing more. It was boring.
Zion and Celine had no chemistry in spite of all the discussion about the strong attraction they had for one another. The dialogue was dry and stilted. There was no build up of sexual tension, although we were told that sexual tension was building between them. Also, all of that talk about licking around her mouth, the way they tasted after the kiss was over, and discussion of their underlying scents seemed really old school to me.
I also didn't really care for the way Zion treated Celine. I guess after the way she let her father treat her, that was no great surprise. He was cold and standoffish. Only after having sex with her several times did he "realize" and decide he was in love. and
I'm not sure how old Zion was in this book. It only mentioned he was The youngest of the bachelors. His behavior seemed somewhat childish.
I have read a number of Brenda Jackson's books, which I really enjoyed, that were full of emotion, sexual tension, love and romance. This one, had none of that, no emotion at all.
I loved this story! I loved the premise, I loved the pacing and I loved Zion and Celine's story. Zion new something was different about Celine from the day they met. Their chemistry was off-the-charts. Kudos to Brenda Jackson as this romance was fire!
With less passion, depth or connection. I wanted Zion’s story. He and Celine were one dementional. There was no real tension and the crisis was resolved too quickly.
Fans of Brenda Jackson’s are familiar with her Bachelors in Demand series and the godbrothers who meet their match. Years ago while at Morehouse, six men became best friends and in an effort to stay in touch, agreed that they would each become godfathers to each other’s children. They also agreed that the firstborn sons’ names would start with the letters U through Z. Thus far, Uriel Bougard, Virgil Bougard, Winston Coltrane, Xavier Kane, and York Ellis have fallen in love and defected from the Bachelors in Demand Guarded Hearts they started years back.
Now it’s famed jeweler’s Zion Blackstone’s turn.
If you are unfamiliar with the series, I suggest checking them out HERE.
Zion has a lot of rules, but perhaps the first one being: do not fall in love. He is scarred from something in his past and while he is happy about his best friends getting the families they want, he has decided it’s not for him. Flings, sure! Long-term committed relationships where love is involved? No.
Celine Michaels is the daughter of a wealthy man, who commissions Zion to create a gemstone for her. She is fighting her father’s intrusiveness and trying to assert herself as the woman she knows she can be and going after the independence she craves.
Kidnappers are after Celine and she turns to Zion for help. He gives her protection and a whirlwind of passion and seduction. They both know what this should be; passionate and fulfilling with absolutely no strings attached. These two definitely have chemistry and Celine’s presence in Zion’s life proves to be a balm to an aching wound he has yet to close.
Even the most carefully laid plans can be unraveled and most rules are meant to be broken. They both find themselves putting their heart on the line. However, when shocking revelations come to light about Celine’s safety – things take a turn. Are they really meant for each other? And is Zion willing to confront his past and grab on to the love he wasn’t looking for but can’t seem to live without now?
Bachelor Unbound has been a long time coming and I’ve always been intrigued by Zion’s story. Admittedly, with all of the buildup, I had high hopes, and while I didn’t necessarily love the story as much as I had hoped, I found Bachelor Unbound to be a sweet and slightly suspenseful novel.
** I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.**
This isn't a bad book, it just wasn't what I was expecting. Servicable prose and tight structure hold up this story of jewelry designer Zion Blackstone and socialite Celine Michaels, who fall into complete and total instalust at first sight, and spend most of the book either contemplating or actually ripping each others' clothes off and boinking like bunnies. This is definitely a sex-soaked story. It's basically a few non-missionary-positions and some crude language away from being outright erotica. Which is fine. My only problem with it really is that when I open a romance novel, I'm expecting some romance to go along with all that heat, and there was a decided lack of romance in this novel.
While I certainly buy that Zion and Celine are in lust with each other (and that they have the kind of sexual chemistry that borders on unbelievable), I did not buy that those feelings deepened into love, especially not over the course of a week. Is addiction to sex with each other really a strong basis for a marriage?
I wasn't overly fond of either character, especially since they were more cardboard than fleshed out human beings. Celine's kidnapping was stupid, both the reasons behind it and the fallout from it (but then, abductions are a whole trope that Romancelandia can do away with, and nothing of value will be lost, IMO). Zion's angst of nine years was cleared up with one 10-minute conversation in the penultimate chapter. The ending was a Grand Romantic Gesture that wouldn't happen in anything approaching real life .
I'm sure I've lost a lot of characterization, coming in here at the end without reading the previous five books, but what was here felt like an afterthought. Disappointing, to say the least.
Writing this review 3-14-21 cuz I hate myself [look at the read date 🤦🏻♀️]
Anyway - seriously! These books are ALL INTERCONNECTED! GAH! I'd actually read some of the other books earlier in this series way before I think - but the premise didn't interest me so much until I read more/other ones?
I actually do remember this one! YAY ME. [And yay this book for being more memorable.]
Celine Michaels is a rich socialite IIRC - but
but like - she kinda gets mad when strangers believe that/ think she's vapid which ... 🙃
considering it's 6 months later ... I can't remember whatever it was that made Zion swear off love.
[Or the good reason why the heroine was hiding from her WTF dad why she was doing what she was doing?] ... maybe something about her mom and him guilting her?
... I can't remember also whatever PR stunt her ... dad and [ex?] did?
But - Zion shows up for whatever reason [can't remember if it was sweet or a giant misunderstanding mess]
OH! OH!!!! She's kidnapped - because her ~ex is an IDIOT. And her dad too.
omfg. And Zion of course has those connection friends.
Yeah I don't remember the final turning point thing but the big gesture was cute.
LOTS of manufactured misunderstanding though. [Which - why it doesn't seem I re-listened to this book]
Zion is the last of the “Bachelors In Demand” club and he is staying its only member for life. When Celine walks into his life, he has trouble holding on to the membership rules. Will he still remain a member or will the club disband forever?
I enjoyed the final story. For Zion to be so mysterious and brooding through the previous books, I was hoping for a little more “something” to give his nine year excel some credence. I guess everyone handles information differently, but the resolution to his issue could have been resolved so easily. Celine seemed a great fit for Zion. I didn’t like her kidnapping story though. It just seemed...I don’t know, stupid, to me, but in true Brenda Jackson fashion, the connection between Zion and Celine was hot. Why these men kept fighting the inevitable, we’ll never know. 😄. I only wish we had a more overall update on all the brothers. For me Xavier is my favorite...he started it all. Couldn’t we have a family reunion or something where everyone and the kids got together and we got some closure there as well? In any event, it was still a great read.
Finally the Bachelor series is done...it was a wonderful ride.
Zion is the last of the of confirmed Bachelors who fell because their hearts been mended and the need fora great woman had been met. However, Zion did not believe that woman could ever exist for him. After all the one woman he trusted unconditionally had confessed a secret that changed his life. Celine is the daughter of a Hollywood icon that spoiled her rotten , or so many thought. Zion had commissioned to design a birthday gift by her father. What he did not know was she is someone that could cause him to break all his rules. Celine was fiercely independent but held a secret that that could change her relationship with her father. Celeine travels to Rome and is kidnapped. She escapes and finds Zion in a city she has no friends. Find the lies that have been woven and the fierceness Zion finds his has to protect this intrusion in his life. Heat and more heat almost burn up these pages. Loved the conclusion of this series..
Zion Blackstone’s story finally arrive and Mrs. Jackson did not disappoint. Zion didn’t expect the instant attraction he experience with Celine and never thought she would show up on his doorstep after returning to Rome. The week she is in hiding from her abductors, is filled with passion and desire. She opens up to Zion and confides in him regarding her achievements and how her father tries to control her. Zion is trying to fight his growing feelings and when events occur, he must decide whether to stay hidden or rescue Celine and confess his love. At the end of the week will Zion realize he can’t live without Celine or will he admit his feelings and grab this chance at happiness? Readers will need to read Bachelor Unbound to find out. Thoroughly enjoyed the last book in the Bachelor in Demand series.
Jeweler Zion Blackstone (what an amazing name!) is drawn into Celine Michael’s glittering world when she foils an attempted abduction and seeks his protection. Set mostly in Rome and with so many secrets being kept by pretty much everyone it rivals a Shakespeare comedy of errors, this sexy and suspenseful love story throws the reader more than one curveball and creates true tension for the outcome of Zion and Celine’s tryst, which is not exactly common in category lines, now is it? – Rachel Hyland

It was worth the wait. Bachelor Unbound is the last book in The Bachelor in Demand Series and I am so glad Brenda Jackson chose Zion Blackstone as the last Bachelor to write about. Celine and Zion's chemistry is so strong, it jumps off the pages. You can feel it as you read word for word. The danger she finds herself in just intensifies the strong pull they have for each other. I am sorry to see this series come to end but well worth the wait. It would be nice if in the future Mrs. Jackson could give an update on the 6 heroes of this wonderful series.
Is an abduction gone wrong…their chance for love? (International jeweler) and sought-after bachelor Zion Blackstone felt an instant connection to (Homeless Shelter Owner) Celine Michaels when he designed a unique gemstone for her birthday commissioned by her father. When she shows up at his house in Rome claiming kidnappers are after her, he offers the Hollywood producer’s daughter his protection…and passion. But a shocking revelation could upend his once-in-a-lifetime chance with Celine…She causes him to break all her rules and lose his once coveted position The Guarded Hearts Club.
After watching five of he six members of the Bachelors in Demand Club fall into the clutches of love, I knew that Lion's story would be good! After all, Brenda Jackson had to end the series with the love story to end all love stories!
I was not disappointed. Zion and Celene's love story was like a jigsaw puzzle, but once the final piece was in place, the picture was one of a couple truly in love! Great job as always Brenda Jackson!!!
Zion Blackstone shows in this novel that regardless of how much and how far one runs from love, love catches up and overcomes every obstacle including time. The bond between these Godbrothers is remarkable and something that all of us would like to have in our lives. I truly enjoyed this story both in kindle and audio book form. Another masterpiece by renown author Mrs Brenda Jackson. Big ups to you Mrs Jackson!
Zion is the last member of the Guarded Hearts Club. Will he finally fall? This book was a well written, fantastic ending to this wonderful series. Starting back in 2009, when this series began Brenda Jackson became one of my must buy authors. While this may be the conclusion to this particular series, I suspect there is still more to come from this author.
Zion Blackstone, renowned celebrity jeweler and Celine Michaels, daughter of a Hollywood producer, find love in an off the cuff way. They meet, get to know each other and sparks fly. When Celine finds herself running from kidnappers in Rome, she goes to Zion for a safe haven. The sparks become a low burning fire and the romance grows slowly. It's a good story, a little repetitive, but good storyline and good characters.
As the last book of the Bachelors in Demand series, Mrs. Jackson didn't disappoint. Zion Blackstone is determine to remain the last bachelor even though his godbrothers Uriel, Virgil, Winston, Xavier, and York are happily married men. However, Zion didn't foresee the likes of Celine Michaels. The chemistry between the main characters is fire and their journey to love and beyond is wonderful. A must read as are all of the books by Brenda Jackson.
I didn't like it, I didn't like how much of a manwhore hero was. It really rubbed me the wrong way when hero told heroine he liked women revolving his door (or was it his bed?). I didn't like he had a burner phone and that other women calling constantly and hero never addressed when he last slept with someone else (it had been months, but heroine didn't know that and he could have slept with the other woman just night before as far as she knew). Np.
The author saved the best for last in conclusion of this amazing series, "Bachelors in Demand". The ending was suspenseful, action filled and entertaining. This book demonstrates the need for homeless places for the people. The reason for " Zion's" character going to Rome, Italy and "Celine's" character allowing her father to dominate her life. These and other themes created an emotional and delightful read. On to her next series!
Rules are Sometimes meant to be broken. That's what is discovered with Zion. He's still passionate about his work yet and unsuspected surprise happens with his physical attraction to Celine. Who would have thought an ill fated plan organized by Celine's father would lead to one of the most sensual happily ever after
Zion Blackstone a jewel himself all bound up. Celine Micheals proved to be the master jeweler. He never stood a chance against her. This was a beautiful love story with a backdrop of intrigue. I really really love this story. Hope the friends gets a story too. Bravo Ms Jackson
This was a great read. I love romance stories like this. Celine and Zion’s chemistry is so sexy. I couldn’t stop reading. I like how Celine wasn’t your average celebrity. She cared about giving back and giving to others. Zion was more wanting to be a bachelor forever and didn’t want to break rules of fall in love. Love books that I can’t put down.
