Glynn Stewart is the author of over 60 books, including Starship’s Mage, a bestselling science fiction and fantasy series where faster-than-light travel is possible–but only because of magic.
Writing managed to liberate Glynn from a bleak future as an accountant. With his personality and hope for a high-tech future intact, he lives in Southern Ontario with his partner, their cats, and an unstoppable writing habit.
I just loved this series and though I wished it had continued and this book felt rushed in place it was definitely a good ending. I am also a big fan of Glynn Stewart overall I find he has written so many great books. Going to miss White and Co sad to see this end. But I guess it's how it goes when books don't sell all that well.
I like this series a lot and it was a decent ending for this part, but this entire novel felt a bit rushed with a lot of event and information dumps. I think it would have worked better if it were expanded a bit and turned into two novels rather than having everything crammed here.
Still another fun read by Stewart, looking forward to more of his work.

This series begins with David a police officer who encounters vampires during a police call. The books detail his journey from cop, to supernatural secret agent, to a he to. He faces evil but keeps his humanity and sense of righteousness during battles with all types of evil creatures. This is not my usual genre, but I loved this series and devoured all four books quickly. Tthe characters are well rounded and the plot moves quickly but packs some surprises. I enjoyed being submerged in this world. It was a great adventure and I hope there are more in the future. Don't miss this Series! Great characters, action, humor, suspense, and a storyline that is hard to put down! Thanks for the journey Mr. Stewart!
I guess Glynn Stewart believes in going out with a bang. The final part of the ONSET series does just that. A fitting ending to an excellent series and I for one am very sad to see it end.
Glynn Stewart’s Onset series is about a hidden federal organization that hunts monsters. Sometime ordinary individuals gain super powers when coming face to face Ex-cop David White became super strong, able to heal quickly, and able to see slightly into the future. He also has a magical sword. In the previous book a nuke was used to stop power hungry vampires. That couldn’t be totally contained, raising suspicion in the media. Then David has to kill a monster attacking a protest march, and the secret is out,. The agency is shut down and erased. Unfortunately this is just a ONSET: Stay of Execution (paper from Faolan's Pen Publishing Inc ) because some demon worshipers have managed to infuse a new born with a demon and that Herald opens a gate to the demon universe in Protland Maine Conventional arms are practically useless though the army does try to respond. This is a very exciting and fun end to the series.Review printed by Philadelphia Free Press
I binge-read this series with enjoyment. The only problems I had is in some egregious errors. M1911 semiautomatic pistols do not have a lever safety that can be set on and off (book 1). Carter Lake and Mount Scott are in southern Oregon in the Cascade Range, not the Rockies which are several hundred miles east. The Pendragon, "... started as a prototype for a new Blackhawk based jet-helicopter..." then magically morphed into a tilt-rotor aircraft a la Osprey in a later book. It's like Glynn either doesn't have an editor or needs a new one and needs a technical advisor if he's going to write about things of which he has limited or no knowledge (like firearms, geography and helicopters).
The conclusion to this series is fast, frantic full-on warfare. At times I felt that the battle scenes were too long, whilst recognising that they probably weren't really long enough, or detailed enough. The pictures painted with words were vivid and very real despite this being a fantasy world of Demons, Vampires and Supernaturals. The end actually felt a bit rushed and I would have loved to see a bit of the aftermath, what happened to the thralls, Portland, even the president. The narration was excellent, as is usual for Ray Porter This was a very good series, somewhat outside my usual reading zone and I recommend it. Overall 4 stars Narration 5 stars Story 4 stars.
At first I thought this was just a blatant ripoff of Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series - and it definitely does take many cues from that series (and the fact that Ray Porter reads both series really added to that feeling). But, as I continued to read [listen], I started to really feel that while it is similar in many ways, it has it's own thing going on and I really enjoyed it. The stories and characters are great, the writing and dialog are great, and it really picks up speed and becomes very exciting at the end. I was sad when the series ended.
And the last in the series (though the ending leaves a lot of room for continuation). It's from 4 years ago and the writer has moved on to other series. Neither of those has drawn me in so far. Too bad.
Anyway things go all "pair shaped" here and the reality of the supernatural world gets spilled out...on national TV. Thus politics rears its always ugly head and the politicians...
Well that would be telling and maybe called a spoiler. Still a good read still action adventure. I liked the series. Recommended.
I have enjoyed every single book of this series. What I like it most is that the author did drag this through 7 or 8 more books like most others do. I understand that they need to "milk the cow" but sometimes this gets absolutely ridiculous. If there are other books after this one fine but I think this is the right finish for this adventure. I totally recommended to get all the books and read them in order.
I like it! The characters morphed into more and yet they are not all they will be. The battle is grand but costly. Yet vengeance and promise of both more good and more struggle are the ending reality. Humanity survives...for now. Stewart is an artist with words. And his painting beats any image or illustration that could be drawn. Somehow I look for the next volumn to open on an even grander scale. After all the Seal is still weak so...
Exposed, torn down, and scattered, the forces that had been battling Evil can only watch from the sidelines. The government takes over the conflict; but it takes more than sheer numbers to take the fight to the enemy and make any real difference. As the experienced disbanded fighters reform, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. A satisfying epic battle unfolds with unexpected twists.
This was a neat series ending in a number of ways. The fighting was intense. The characters were almost a blur since they are so many.
I read the rest of the series (most of it) a bit ago but the background universe came back to me and that was enough to follow the plot with no trouble. Not bad at all.
I enjoyed this book but not quite as much as its predecessors . it rambled too much at times. The characters were still great as were the action sequences. If you have read the earlier onset books you will like this one as well.
In this exciting and satisfying conclusion to the (first part of ?) series, the new paranormal alliance faces ultimate evil. An old foe shows up, breaking the walls that hold the forces of hell from the earth. A highly enjoyable read.
A very nice finale to a 4 book series...the ONSET stories. An interesting mix of fantasy, shoot'em up military battles, a love story, tongue-in-cheek alkusions, great characters and a delightful dragon. Who could ask for anything more?
As always Mr. Stewart delivers. Great build up and emotion toward the end. No critique except to say I am missing Damien Montgomery... get your but to writing those UnArcana novels!!!!
The Battle Against Evil continues in Glynn Stewart's ONSET: Stay of Execution. Magic is reviled, stupid political decisions disband ONSET, when it is need the most. The Demons are winning.
This book was high on strategy and battles. The big battle. So much emphasis on military operations for the last half, yet it delivered surprises and twists I did not See coming. A bit too light on an ending for my taste though.
This whole series is a very addictive read. Well written and good character development with good action content. If you like fantasy this is worth checking out.
I have enjoyed this work, characters are real exciting tangible. He has the power to make his characters feel like real people that can see, and touch, and field their emotions.. I can’t wait tor read the next book it should be extremely exciting.
Because it requires the government to not only be stupid, but evil. And it is a tired trope. Individual people being as such? Sure. But the entire govt? Ha.
Worked through it to make it to the end which was fairly satisfying for an ending.
Good book, well written and exciting, but after a brilliant build-up the end is too fast and too facile. Not bad, but sadly not quite up to the standard set by the rest of the series.
The series was incredible. The characters were fantastic. Watching David evolve was spellbinding. The action was nonstop and it was impossible to put the books down.
Absolutely amazing military action against impossible enemies. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action. Paranormals versus demons. I look forward to the next one.
I enjoyed the series. And hope the next part is on Kindle Unlimited. There was lot's of action. I am glad both dragons survived and hopefully have baby dragons lol
I started to lose interest in the book before this. While I normally enjoy battle segments to books, it was very drawn out against an enemy that was almost invincible and a government whose decisions make no sense.
This book was more of the same for the entire book, with random information dumps and indeed super ability fast download. The whole antichrist like scene just annoyed me rather than intrigued me.
The ending was okay. But overall, this book just didn’t work as well. I took a long break misread before finishing it.

Oof. Almost DNF A hard end to a good series. I’ll admit treachery is a bad plot point for me and this book starts off with that. It’s downer after downer until an over abrupt ending without much in the way of follow-up. Disappointing because the rest of the series is great.
