When the world starts to collapse, what will you do to survive?
A research station in the Arctic suffers catastrophic destruction. A soldier in Poland dies in a mysterious accident. A reporter in Manhattan stumbles across a conspiracy that has global consequences. As millions succumb to the strange attack across the globe, a handful of brave souls must step forward and fight not just for their own survival but that of the entire human race.
The Long Fall is a thrilling post-apocalyptic episodic series that follows the survivors of a global catastrophie that threatens the survival of the entire world. As each survivor learns more about the reasons and sources behind the apocalypse, they must work to save themselves and their families as they seek a way to reverse the disaster before it's too late. Written as a collaboration between Logan Keys and #1 bestselling post-apocalyptic author Mike Kraus, The Long Fall is a gripping and unique take on the post-apocalyptic genre, and one that will leave you breathless with every turn of the page.
The Long Fall will feature approximately ten episodic (25k-35k words in length) books that are full of action, suspense, emotion and drama as the survivors of a global disaster struggle to survive the end of days. Episodes will be published once per month.
Logan Keys says she’s not so much a writer as she is a soothsayer and preparer for those who are still blissfully unaware. Her stories aren’t dystopian but rather a warning for the next generation. When she’s not writing zombies, vampires, superheroes, and robots, she’s fighting against government over-reach and oligarchy using military tactics mixed with a little bit of poetry.
Logan’s currently on her little farm in Kentucky typing away on many projects at once.

Do you like technothriller SF that takes the global route, say Day After Tomorrow style? Want deeper characterization and the promise of an epic ride that doesn't go all kiddy on you?
Check this out. It's the first in what is planned to be a long serial, so expect nothing more than 80 pages here, but do expect a dozen more. :) Epic? This is going to satisfy any SF disaster sweet tooth you might have growing in you. :)
Fortunately for us, the action and the fall, the disaster, begins almost right away.
And if you like your whole global warming theme to pick up the pace and scare you to death with a man-made chill, look no further.
With a sudden weather disaster, the characters are racing towards the end of the world scenario. The characters and how they react and the situation around then was narrated very well. Enjoyed it.
If you like apocalyptic books this is a good one. Some readers complain about the plot jumping around. It was coherent and I think multiple plot lines make for interesting reading. The sequences in Antarctica were riveting and the story is beginning to unfold. This is the first in the series. I already purchased the second book. The characters are well fleshed out and there is plenty of action. Story touches on the pitfalls of weather modification. I recommend highly.
Wow. Just finished reading THE LONG FALL by Logan Keys and Mike Kraus. How much did I like it? Well, I just pre-ordered the next two books. 5 stars of amazing, non-stop, edge-of-your-seat, totally believable apocalypse fiction. #MustRead
Despite this being a short story, I didn't finish it because I found it hard to get into the plot. I thought it was going to be about the blizzards and winter chill leading to an apocalypse with various characters struggling to survive. Instead it went into conspiracy and corrupt company plots with the weather as a background feature. It wasn't what I expected or wanted.
There are several POVs going on through the opening pages like the Arctic scientist watching his team die, the journalist who withholds information about the big shady company, the babysitter of a dead man looking after his kids, and we also have a few other characters like the homeless military man, the hard nosed senior journalist running the paper who also feature along with the bitchy kids mother who works at the evil company. I just felt that all the characters talked with the same voice, leaving the plot feeling a bit flat. None of them really felt fleshed out enough to care about. I also wasn't really interested in the company who are corrupt and silencing anyone who gets in their way.
Only made it about halfway through. Really awful editing, weird idiom usage, unbelievable characters, b-movie level plot. Just bad all around. The fact that more people gave this 5 stars than any other rating makes me feel sad. It seems most people have never read a good book.
This is sort of a different apocalyptic book in the cause of what happens. The evil corporation is Cybercorp who's satellites were supposed to help deal with climate change but something has gone incredibly wrong.
There are three main scenarios that rotate chapters. One section takes place on Antarctica where Luckman was working. People die in a strange accident while drilling and things get a lot worse from there. Their survival story is done well.
Then there's a section dealing with events in Kansas and Brittany Tower who has been babysitting two children. Reports of cattle freezing to death come in. Then there's a massive outbreak of tornadoes and she now has to try to protect the children and deal with the aftermath of the totally unexpected storm.
The third section is about Michelle, a reporter. She finds that food and water are becoming scarce in areas. The dams around New Orleans are failing. A homeless guy shows up and she helps him out and finds out what his backstory (connected to the Cybercorp events) is.
Cybercorp is out to stop the truth from coming out and they will do anything, literally, to make sure it doesn't.
I quite liked the entries at the beginning of the book, which were taken from notes on an assistants desk. It helped me get an idea of what had happened before any other world building was done.
The pacing was quite slow, although there was constantly something happening to each of the main characters.
The characters themselves were developed very well and I liked how they were all connected in some way. Those connections were revealed slowly through flashbacks as well as conversations between different characters.
My favourite characters were Charles 'Lucky' Luckman, German, Bob and Michelle.
I really liked the world building. The science wasn't too overwhelming and I haven't read a book before where the extreme weather/catastrophic events were caused by a corporation claiming to be able to stop climate change in this particular way.
Although there were quite a few POVs and they changed often, along with the locations, I never got confused
The Long Fall is the first book in the Long Fall series. This can be read as a standalone but should not be. These are short stories that build on each other and should be read in order written. There is a lot of violence, it is an apocalyptic thriller, so it might not be suitable for more sensitive readers.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. This is an apocalyptic thriller filled with people trying to survive in a world where the weather has gone crazy. This story includes a lot of twists and turns. As usual, everything is not as it seems. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is an extremely short book and those are kind of hard to review since there is little time to develop. This has a little bit of a science fiction slant with the weather shield component which make it unique and fun to read. The company name "Cybercorp" is not especially inspired (maybe WeatherRUs?). The book is so short that the characters, though having potential, lack a lot of depth, the most complex being Bob. The story kept me very interested though, so I would definitely continue the series to see how it unfolds.
Its very rare to read an authors claim on how good a book it and it ends up being true. Putting this book down to go to sleep was very hard. Upon waking up an few hours later I started reading again. No endless pages of nothing but filler. And a new trust on the EOTWAWKI with something I'm watching happen slo mo in Florida today. Middle of May and its 65 in the morning. Six month winter just ended in March. Maybe that's why the government won't shutup about global warming LOL they made it! Thank you for an incredible book on to book 2 now!
A very short book about a corrupt corporation and CEO wanting to take over the world (add dramatic evil villain laughing here) by destroying it. It's all been done before, so nothing very new or original in the story, and just as I had thoughts in the back of my mind to just give up on it, and pretend I didn't know the book existed, it was all over. Just like that, it was over at 80 pages. Thank you book, for not making me a quitter.:)
I can just see the government trying to “fix” the weather like in this story. The science is a little hokey but still creates a somewhat believable background for the approaching apocalypse. I like a story better when I can like the main character. Hard to like Lucky and he is somewhat important. Too much detail on how this weather change happened. Way too short. More of a novella.
Interesting read --- read in one sitting did not like the way some chapters jumped back a year earlier chronological sequence might have been better than jumping back to build more details. I will continue reading to see where the story leads. I like books to take longer to read three to four hour reads are too short.
I enjoyed this first book in the series very much. The type of event is new and it caught my interest immediately and held it to the end of the book. The places and characters are original and the action is non-stop. I cannot wait to read the second in the series.
Great start from Mike and Logan in this first installment of this new series. The characters are likable with them and situations that are going on. So much is going on The story is believable and can happen. I like the writing the storyline. It will keep you on the edge of your seat Onto the next book after that ending.
This is a well written story that has a new twist in dystopian books. The characters are memorable and leave readers wanting more. Mankind has destroyed the environment to the point it needs fixing if mankind wants to continue living. Now the question remains 'if were ignorant enough to destroy it,, are we intelligent enough to fix it?'
I have the box set of this series and thought that instalment one was a great start. It quickly introduced an interesting cast of characters and the overall plot - we know the heroes and the villain and the trouble surrounding them.
A good writing style and the overall idea and characters made this a very good read.
I am a big fan of Mike Krause books, and this new series is off to a great start! The characters and situations are easy to get swept up in, and it will be tough waiting for the next installment.
Seemed uncharacteristically slow paced for mike. I think i see where its going and im mot sure thats a good thing. Some characters are dull and im hoping as the story fleshes out that will change.
I like the story line. I enjoy the characters but didnt care for the flipping of time thing- with changing and adding places n people. Hoping the next book will clean up the time line as well as blend characters n story so not so fragmented.
Whoa. What a stressful book. What an enjoyable read. Mackie thinking they can control the weather. The responsibility the babysitter has bringing the children 1300 miles to their Mother in adverse weather. Looking forward to reading the next book.
Love the story and characters! The apocalypse is coming for a difference reason this time. I can't wait to start the next one. It is well written and I want to read everything by these authors.
An excellent apocalyptic series with a twist. This is not a virus, EMP or zombies. This is the weather gone wild to the nth degree. It is how greed and the love of power can lead to the downfall of the earth. Just finished book one and am immediately starting book two. Must read!
This is an interesting, different apocalyptic story that will leave you wanting more. I enjoyed the character developments and story line. My only fault with the book, and a minor one, was the very short length. It should have been longer.
.....start to their new series. Was hooked after the first few pages and just couldn't out it down. Great action and adventure!!!! Fantastic characters! I think I'm REALLY going to enjoy this series as much as I have his others!!!!!
Another apocalyptic story that was very good. Pulled you in right away. It is being written as a serial and I have not looked yet to see if the next installments are up, but I will be. I would like to see where this goes.
So far I like everything about this story except the evil corporation aspect. The villain seems too one-dimensional. The action is at a good pace: it reveals enough to entertain readers looking for it, but doesn't give away the full story behind the disasters yet.
