Learn how to spend without being broke through 22 money lessons which will help you become aware kung:
Ano ang buying habits at patterns natin? Bakit tayo obsessed bumili kahit hindi naman natin kailangan? Paano makakaiwas sa temptasyon? Ano ang tamang diskarte para maka-ipon now at guminhawa later?
Benefits of this book:
Know how to overcome bad shopping habits Know how to celebrate milestones without going beyond your budget Know how to upgrade your gadgets without borrowing money from others Know how to enjoy your vacation without getting into debt
The majority of the lessons are basic and pretty much I already know. But for the younger ones maybe... specifically those who are still trying to impress others, this is a good read.
This was an easy read. Nothing new for me. He collated all obvious non practical ways inculcated in the Filipino culture such as extravagant event celebrations, pasalubongs, etc and put it in writing.
Good read though for those who are really clueless on how to handle their finances.
I like these 22 chapter titles but that's about the best content of this book. The explanations themselves are extremely insubstantial that I didn't get any new insight.
I even think he gives bad advice because he leaves the impression that "spending excessively is okay as long as you have the money". It's like he never asked me to be frugal. Basta wag ka lang mangutang, okay lang maging magastos.
All in all, very short read with cute relatable premise (a.k.a the 22 chapter titles) but bad elaboration on the content. I would have been happier seeing a facebook post where there is an image(s) of those 22 "Blah-blah now, pulubi later" compilation.
It may be worth it and helpful to some... But for me, sorry but I didn't think this deserved to be a book.
• If you have bad spending habits and want someone to talk some sense into you, this is the book for you. • Suitable for those who are just starting out in their personal finance journey. • The author lists down all the unnecessary expenses you may be spending on and offers possible explanations for it (may or may not apply to you, but at least one is bound to hit). • Good for raising self-awareness on spending habits as the author attempts to convince you out of it, but he doesn't really offer anything new other than that (some may also find his tone of voice too guilt-trippy). • ⭐️⭐️ rating because I didn't really learn anything new, but I did need to hear some of his "sermon" on unnecesary spending.
The book is a basic financial book, it's just like my mother nagging me. Though I think the target audience are Filipinos who are financially literate, then, this book could be their great foundation on financial education.
The 22 money lessons were more of a reoccurring reminder not to spend too much, instead, practice frugality and underconsumption. The topics discussed still remain relevant up to this day. Helpful for those who seek basic financial advice.
"Ang bottomline, sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, kailangan nating magpakatotoo at hindi magpaka-plastic. Ang plastic ay natutunaw din. We need to live honest lives at maging practical."
Worst money book I've read. Very basic information on saving and budgeting. Reading this makes me feel like I'm just a teenage boy being scolded by my dad about money. Donated the book right away.
Only complaint is some lessons seem repetitive and could be combined with other lessons, pero very helpful for people struggling with debt or saving money.
This book is full of helpful revelations that will shed light to every bad habit hindering you from a good life. A good life is founded on good character and Mr Tan tells it in a casual and easy way. Although some points you would know as a Christian and are kinda redundant, I think the book could be improved by connecting it to Jesus' teachings about identity, security, humility, etc.
The pace in reading it is light and fast, you could finish it in a day!
The teachings of this book help reveal the traits of the culture we tolerate. It really helps a lot to understand why our society is so gripped with poverty, and praying that his wisdom would reach all of today's generation. But wisdom, with God.
The title should be like this " 22 lessons WHY you are broke" its not "22 lessons on how to avoid going broke". this book tells you the reasons why you are broke, but it doesnt give you a practical tips on how to avoid broke. Most lessons are just the same factors/reason, and it keeps repeating every page.I would say chinkee tan is such a amazing business man, he knows how to market his book. Kaya tuloy napapabili ako nitong book and unfortunately I was expecting too much about it.
Don't get me wrong, Chinkee Tan is one of the greatest finance advisor, especially for those who are just getting started. I started my journey with him too, at least on his Youtube and podcast which is great btw as a booster. Although, his books, like his paid webinars, are generic. Full of do's and dont's which everyone already knows.
Finished this book in one sitting! Written in Taglish so its understandable to all. Most of the context in this book is common-sense but sometimes we forgot those simple knowledge. Good thing about this book is to remind us those basic knowledge. I love this book!
Good eye opener for all unnecessary spending I've been doing instead of putting more into other things, like savings. My favorite book in the series and will definitely re-read in case I lose focus in my goal again.
