Dreya Love Transformation A Shifter Reverse Harem Series Book 1
FBI Special Agent Dreya Love prefers to work alone. But when her friend, a senator’s daughter, is killed, she’s forced to partner with Detective Rhys Morgan, or get assigned to ‘the backside of hell.’ More deaths with bodies matching their first victim brings Interpol Agent Quinn Kingston to the team. As their investigation uncovers a secret genetic research program, a government cover-up, and a warning to ‘walk away,’ the case turns deadly. The hunt for a killer, a boutique drug, and an unearthly ingredient unite these three in ways they couldn’t imagine. Soon, they discover the truth leads to a hell they never knew existed.
DREYA LOVE ticks … like a bomb. Dana Lyons combines the hottest trend in romance—reverse harem—with shape shifting and crime solving, to deliver a smart and sexy adventure with a double dash of the unexpected!
Scifi murder mystery, smart h detective, forced to work with policeman H. The autopsy suggests genetic changes to the victim, and they track down the killer. This was clearly an intro to a series, so while the h had depth, the two male characters didn't. The plot has them turned and making decisions very quickly, and the only thing they are sure is that they are bonded as a pack. It was good.
Thoughts: Wow, just wow. This is not a cliffhanger, but the promise of what is to come has me begging for the next book even though I’m still trying to get over the hangover of reading this one. It wasn’t until close to the end that the paranormal really started, and OMG that was awesome!! We’re told of a planet where there are shifters but it’s completely controlled by the government and a private company, but the setting of this book is earth. See, hints of paranormal but the characters are human… Man, it is so hard to write this and not give anything away. Anyway, there’s enough mystery and intrigue that I couldn’t put it down. And I kinda wanna cry since book 2 isn’t even out yet. This is a definite must read!!
Sorry but I’m not going to give away any spoilers. First time reading anything by Dana Lyons and I must say this book was freaking amazing even though it ended on a cliffhanger which I got to say wasn’t very nice. Lol I absolutely loved Dana Lyons’s writing style and I loved the way she transported me into the reality that she created. I had to stop reading several times and take a look around to make sure I was still at home that’s how real it felt to me. I will definitely be checking out all her other books because of this book. I can’t wait for the next book because I got to know what happens to all the main characters. Wish I could give more than five measly stars because this book it deserves so much more!
This was a 5 star read. It's reverse harem but the story wasn't lost in the establishment of the harem. The characters are interesting, though the one criticism I have is that I couldn't really picture how they looked in my head, maybe I was too enthralled in the story. The story itself is intriguing and so far different to your typical shifter story it is refreshing. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2. It looks to be developing into something that has sci fi feel which is exciting. Highly recommend
I've gotta start this out by saying I LOVE the crime drama genre with a badass FMC. I like reverse harem, PNR, UF, and Sci-Fi so this story seemed right up my alley. With the high star rating, I was really excited to give this a shot. However, this did not remotely meet any of my expectations.
The storyline is seriously disjointed. It attempts to blend too many genres and too much action in a very short amount of time. The author was unable to progress the story at one point so she has one of the main characters having conversations with himself aloud like a loon to keep things moving. There is no world building, the progression of the case is unrealistic, the villian is pathetic and cries a bunch, and the romance is some really awkward instalust that no one seems to think is weird. The FMC is former Navy, private security, and now an FBI agent and there is nothing about her that screams "badass". She and two other law enforcement officers are easily overpowered by a scared man with no training because he happened to "surprise" them (because no one was remotely alert in a potentially dangerous situation). All the big revelations in the story are taken immediately at face value with no skepticism or disbelief. Everyone magically has instant control of their powers and no one is in denial about anything. To be frank, this is one of the most underdeveloped stories I have ever read. Maybe with some character development and world building it could have been good, but it definitely needs a LOT of work.
I absolutely do not recommend this book. I always like to give the author the benefit of the doubt and assume that they grow and improve with each book but I, personally, will not be sticking around to find out. I wish the author all the best with their future endeavors.
This was a really interesting take on the RH genre that is going around these days.
The book starts as a crime thriller, involving the death of a senator’s daughter. FBI Special Agent Dreya Love used to work for the senator in the year after leaving her highly decorated 6 year naval career. She formed a relationship with the victim and saved her life. After leaving this private security job she joined the FBI where she got a reputation for being a straight arrow, especially after she turned in her partner for corruption.
When she starts the murder case she is forced to partner with Rhys Morgan a DC Metro Homicide Detective, someone who seems to have problems with authority. These two characters start out wary of each other as they dig into the reasons for the murder. The coroner finds strange anomalies in the deceased’s skin and tissue samples and it raises a lot of questions, as does a spook friend of Morgan’s who tells him to walk away from the case.
The case heads in strange and political directions uncovering experiments on human DNA.
This is a fantastic book for someone like me who really enjoys crime thrillers as well as enjoying paranormal fiction. If you start the book on the basis that you think this is a paranormal romance you may be disappointed. I get the feeling that this aspect of the series will come about in book 2, but I don’t feel deprived by the lack and simply enjoyed the thriller aspect of the book.
This was the first reverse harem book I have read. I enjoyed the crime aspect of the novel. The mystery is what pulled me along. Although I enjoyed the story and characters, there were some things I had issues with. There was a chapter the repeated the entire first page almost word for word from the previous chapter. This was because the new chapter was from a different POV....which I am fine with. I did not enjoy reading the same exact conversation all over again. It should have simply recapped the conversation or simply started where the conversation ended. This slowed the story down and made me want to skip the entire chapter or stop reading completely. There was a handful of spelling or grammar issues throughout the book that took my attention away from the text. Overall, it is a nice story, but could use some adjustments. These mistakes make the books seemed rushed. It is a quick and easy read if you are looking for something to fill the time.
I downloaded Transformation as a free ebook from Amazon. I liked the plot, but I think this should have been a longer book to include some of the backstory instead of "telling" the reader about it--we could have experienced what happened to bring the world to it's current dilemma--Nobility. There were convenient, yet odd conclusions made with minimal input, so I wasn't as invested in the plot as I should have been. But, good worldbuilding and there are lots of possibilities for a sequel. My 3.5 was rounded up due to the groundwork laid for the next book-- I think this series will improve with each installment.
An interesting concept for a series with really great characters. The storyline is truly unique, and I especially like reading books with an element of detective/ police procedurals so mix in the supernatural, and I’m hooked. The varying points of view are not a favourite of mine, but I do get how it can enhance the story, and in this case, it works well. I’m excited to see how this story develops further!!
I was not prepared for this book. It was surprisingly good even with a semi rough start. Once it built steam it just kept going in the right direction. I love the slow build of what could be but has not happened yet. I want to call this a novella because its short but I really can't because it answered most questions and for sure did not end on a cliffhanger. But by the end you know more adventures are on the way. Ready for book two.
This book started slow then exploded with intense action! It's an emotional rollercoaster for one woman and two men! Looking into the strange deaths of some young people! Who had changed at the DNA level before they died! This is an excellent, sci-fi, mystery and action book! I definitely recommend this book! I can't wait to read the second book in the series! Which I'm going to do right now!
Great concept and word the story. However, some spelling issues and one glaring error that nearly made me stop reading altogether. "Suspicioned" is not a word. Not in any form of English used on this planet! Dear God, I nearly threw my kindle across the room in my madly panicked effort to get away from that abomination. The word you wanted to use is "suspected". I don't know if I'll ever recover from seeing suspicioned on my screen.
This book was just wow!! I went in with low expections but Dreya and Rhys story just pulls you in and keeps you chained to hear their story. Definitely different than other books I read but I love the unusualness.
Really enjoyed this story! Fast paced, exciting and really interesting. The characters were well thought out and multidimensional. Their interactions together were very believable. Glad I took the opportunity to buy.
I liked it but the story was very fast forward and it lacked important details. Also, sometimes the story felt disjoint and that's the main reason i gave 2 stars, but I'll read the second book because it has the potential to get better.
Well this was a fantastic jump into the CSI world mixed with outer space and paranormals. First books sucked me in with the mfc been a lone wolf (figuratively) being forced a partner to work with to solve a murder. Can't wait to read more. JL
Sci-if murder mystery reverse harem. The story was a bit underdeveloped and there was really no character building, but it managed to hold my interest. This series has potential and I’m looking forward to the next book.
So I liked the idea of the crime drama, but I don't think it played out in a believable way. Same with the romance and the supernatural aspects. There was no development just things happening for no reason. I kept waiting for the story to get a hold of itself but that never happened.
Interest plot and characters. A tad different from your regular fantasy book. It would have been better if there was less monologues, otherwise a good start to a promising story.
This was a book that I wouldn’t normally pick up , romance is more my taste, but having said that I enjoyed the read. It evolved into fantasy which I love from a thriller which was well written. The characters are becoming extremely interesting and I’d love to see where life takes them and what their separate abilities build into. It’s well worth a read and I’m interested in what happens next, always love an ending like that.
WOW this book was just perfect for the book funk I was in, don't get me wrong I read plenty and enjoyed the books but this book pulled me into the world and made its stamp in my mind. While this is a reverse harem, it totally did not feel like it. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.

ReRead Review :
Transformations is a pretty awesome book, the idea behind it makes it a high action, suspense read without becoming too technical with police jargon.
The only real thing that made it a little less awesome was the editing and the way some sentences appear stilted and fragmented sometimes. This does not retract from the story itself a whole lot in my opinion but I did have to read some sentences a couple of times before I got what the author meant.
