Although faced with challenging obstacles along the way, Alana Mathews has nonetheless come out at the top of her profession. Promoted to Lieutenant status within the Rogue Elimination Department, she is anxious to advance as far as possible in her career. The return of her greatest nemesis, a.k.a Lieutenant Grayson Stone threatens to push Alana's tolerance to the limit. Not only is he arrogant and full of himself, but he's also against females participating in Departmental executed outside missions, claiming the weaker sex are too emotional and unstable to withstand extreme conditions in the field. Both unable to let go of the past, their history sets the tone for future encounters and hostility continues to flourish between them. Shocked and appalled when they discover their wolves have other ideas, will they allow their animosity for one another to dominate the hand fate has dealt?
Starting from 2014, I have successfully released multiple novels and short stories. I hold a deep affection for paranormal/supernatural suspense romance as my favorite subject, and I’ve devised several remarkable locations that instill within me a sense of longing to experience them firsthand! (Edgewoods and Sterling Branch to name a couple!) I love anything shifter. My books center on Werewolves, or Weres, as my characters like to call themselves, along with a burly bear-shifter (Brody) and one of the sneaky feline persuasion (Stark). These handsome fellas are regular folks who possess the extraordinary capability to transform into wolves or any animal shape I decide to write. Their stories will often lead them on dangerous adventures, throw them into risky situations, and some lucky female who unexpectedly runs across their path may snag their hearts! I love a happily ever after ending, but sometimes life isn’t kind that way. Although my characters may not get everything they want, it often works out for the best. On a personal level, I love the outdoors and spend many afternoons floating in a kayak down the river with a fishing pole while plotting the events of my next book.
I have never seen two people deny a magnetic pull toward each other like Alana and Grayson do. He never liked her (or women in the department at all), a point he made sure to document when he was her superior, and she downright hated him, a fact everyone knew.
When the group is hunting a rogue clan Grayson and Alana are forced to work together yet again, and when she's cornered Grayson will become overly protective...a fact that confuses him. Then again when they are alone and a fight turns passionate, they both want to run for the hills. Although Alana is the one to actually do that, taking the new wolf with her.
"Did you hesitate?" he asked, "when you knew they might kill me and you realized your problems would be over?"
Grayson's the first to note the changes in his feelings, although he tries like hell to ignore it. His wolf claimed Alana's wolf, and regardless of what either of the humans feel toward each other the wolves will slowly make them lose control until it is accepted. He comes to terms with his newfound emotions after losing it and doing something reckless that ends him up on another leave of absense, but every attempt he makes to reach out to her only pushes her further away.
Emotions run high when Alana is kidnapped. Grayson is forced to go to her father for help and his response and subsequential actions were quite interesting for her overprotective father. Honestly, under all the pressures everyone was feeling, her father added an extra intensity, but also a slight comedial aspect.
Amongst dealing with the rogue threat, it was interesting to watch as the walls between to characters who hated each other slowly dropped. Breaking Stone puts a unique and engaging point of view not only on werewolves, but on an enemies to lovers genre.
This is the second book of the series and I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I really loved Alana's character, she has changed so much from the tiny glimpse that you get in the first book. I am definitely not a fan of her boss in this book, although at the end I get to see a side of him that I haven't see before. I love her family and the different plots they have going on. This was such a great book. Book Blurb: Although faced with challenging obstacles along the way, Alana Mathews has nonetheless come out at the top of her profession. OMG I just loved this story, it was so darn intense. I wondered what would happen to Stone, and did I find out. Two people hated each other until their wolves had other ideas and watch out for those wolves. lol Back story Stone was attacked by the demon that almost ripped his soul apart, instead it made him hard and not trusting. Alana, just wanted to fight, protect, kick some booty, and low and behold here comes Stone. Back from his sabbatical comes face to face with Alana, literally. I loved to see the how they would evolve.
Thank you for another great story RC. You are awesome!!
This is my honest and unbias opinion of the story. OMG!!! I loved this book. This book has a lot of twist and turns threw this whole story I am so glad I was able to read it and this is book #2 of the series.
