Brynn of Haversey isn’t just a spirit whisperer: she’s a shadow whisperer, too, a person blessed (or some might say cursed) with both the powers of Heaven and Hell. Because of her rare double gift, the Queen of Amerin expects her to master the spell of resurrection and restore her men—namely the crown prince—to life, but Brynn is starting to suspect that the magic will forever be maddeningly out of reach.

Life at the Royal College isn’t quite what Brynn expected, especially not when she’s being forced to live a double life. Student by day, the country’s only hope at night. Without a demi-god heir, Amerin is doomed. With the fate of the entire country resting on the shoulders of the clumsy half-angel girl, Brynn will have to rely on her growing ghostly harem for help.

The spirit of an academy professor. The prince of an enemy kingdom, and his aptly named brother, Trubble. The cousin of Brynn’s longtime love. And then there’s the prince himself, a man that nobody else can know is dead. Find the missing soul of a thief, enjoy the company of her only living boyfriend, Vex, and figure out a way to survive school and feuding gods. If Brynn can transform a fox into a human with the magic of a sneeze, surely she can do anything.

HAUNTED is a reverse harem romance with a (slightly) clumsy but still kick-butt angel heroine and her seven boyfriends who just happen to be ghosts. This book includes foul language, violence, and sexual situations. This is book two in the series beginning with SPIRITED.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

When I started reading book 1 I really liked it, but then a common theme emerged... everybody dies. In an unnecessary kind of way. As I finished book 2 it just got a little too repetitive for my taste. Same situations where people end up the same way... dead. Keep in mind that this series is a reverse harem and it includes a lot of sex.

I understand that she is a ghost magnet and that she can talk to them, but why would you want everyone around her to be a ghost? It is just so predictable to the point of being boring.

Also why all the “I want them all” but “I feel so guilty”? It is supposed to be a different society where having more than one husband is the norm. Why would there be guilt? Why are you trying to present her inner monologue through our standards instead of the ones from the society you created and placed her in? So of course when you are in that situation you will be a paragon of monogamy and just ask them to masturbate so you can watch... what?

Something else that I didn’t like was that the relationships developed in book one get completely ignored in book two in favor of developing new relationships. I get it that it is a harem and you have all these relationships to develop. However you can’t completely ignore the ones you already worked on, otherwise it just feels like she is trading ones for the others, not like it is all going to work out.

Beyond that, some of the plot is pretty good. The danger she is in from friends and foes is well developed. As I said when I read book one I liked it a lot, but as the series continues it was more disappointing than exciting.

Also it ends in a cliff hanger... again. And the second book is very short.

2.5 Stars. Rounding up to 3 because I still really love the characters and am invested in the story overall.

Haunted was barely novella length, if that. It was really, really short and a quick read. Super disappointing after reading the full length book 1. I was like, wait, that's it? Plus it was the cost of a full length book.

This book couldn't have gone to an editor or proofreader before it was published. There were a whole lot of mistakes.

After reading this book, I am not all that excited about continuing because what if book 3 is as short and almost pointless feeling as this book is? I liked everything that happened and the story but where is the rest of it? This should have been included with whatever comes next as a single book, not just as an installment.

Overall feelings: bummed and cheated. :(

A bit disappointed *little spoiler*

I loved the first installment but I was a bit disappointed with this one. I found numerous typos and other editing errors. I felt that this book was much shorter and the relationships she had built with the guys in the last book were thrown to the side, and the new ones lacked the foundation the first ones had. I’d like to finish the series but I don’t know if I can maintain my interest if all her boyfriends keep dying.

I just felt that not much happened in this book other than gratuitous sex; really seemed a bit dull and suffers a lot from middle book syndrome. That cliffhanger we ended the last book on? We just do not learn much of anything about why that happened. The main character focus is on Trubble for some reason and the cliffhanger at the end of this book isn't much of a surprise since it tells you what's going to happen at the beginning. It's a pretty fast read but kind of boring, will still probably read the next book since it's the last, I do hope it improves...

Brynn of Haversey, double-blessed spirit whisperer, beautiful, clumsy girl, collector of ghosts. Brynn has been assigned the task of performing a reincarnation spell to bring the crown prince, Air back to life. While she's at it she needs to also bring back his cousin Eli, Prince Dyre, Professor Spicer, and the thief Talon. Of course, she has to rescue Talon from the belly of the wolves first. In essence, she needs to bring her entire ghost harem back to life, not to mention deal with Dyre's shadow twin Trubble and decide if she wants the beautiful griffon, Vex as her mate all while attending her first-year classes at college. If she does manage to successfully perform the spell, her own life may very well be forfeit. Seems as if that should be enough but there is something going on with the Queen and the Kingdom. Something just isn't right.

Haunted picks up exactly where book one left off. Brynn has been sleep spelled and can only be awakened by true love's kiss. Enter Vex! He is a definite highlight of this book. His adoration for Brynn and his strength are admirable. We also get to see a new side to Trubble this time. What a great surprise. I love it! Hopefully, this is a permanent addition to the harem. But with the focus on Vex and Trubble we don't get much time with Ari and Eli, not nearly enough! Everything seems okay with Eli, but there's a growing distance between Ari and Brynn. This didn't make sense since he is her first love, her best friend. It felt like the spotlight was more on Brynn's lust for her living guys than on true love. It's painful and worrisome and I feel that now Ari may be keeping something from her. I need their relationship to remain strong. Please restore time to Ari and Brynn. Spicer and Dyre get a bit more story. Spicer is keeping his secrets close to the vest and Dyre seems like a lost, confused soul. Again, hopefully, we find out more about them during the next book. Finally, Talon is absent after the wolf attack but he is never far from Brynn's mind. Felixa and Professor Tiukka had way too much storyline.

I enjoyed this book, especially Brynn's time with Vex and Trubble and I feel like a real scobberlotcher for complaining but as I mentioned I was disappointed with the little time spent with the other guys. No steamy times but even worse, no conversations. I missed their times together. There's just not enough overall relationship time and little progression. I was also dismayed and surprised with how little time was spent focusing on the goal; successfully performing the spell. I would have liked to see more forward movement. It seems as if every available moment would be dedicated to restoring her lovers to the living. As Trubble likes to say, a strong woman needs a strong harem. It seemed as if this book may have lost direction.

The ending is traumatic. Feather losing language traumatic! Even though you knew that it was coming, it didn't make anything easier. I'm not sure how much more Brynn can take before breaking. I'm not sure what happens next for Brynn and her ghost harem. I may have been slightly disappointed in this book but it may have been because I had such high expectations. CM Stunich is brilliant; one of my favorite authors. I think that this story is wildly creative. I loved Brynn, Ari, and Eli so much in book 1. I didn't expect for them to virtually disappear in book 2. I did fall in love with Vex and Trubble so all was not lost. I haven't lost faith in this series in the least bit. I look forward to Shadowed. I hope that it gets back on track. Forget about the classes, forget about jealous females; focus on Brynn, Eli, Vex, Dyre, Spicer, Talon, and Trubble. Remind me how good it is between Brynn, Ari, and Eli. Keep Vex and Trubble close. And give me a reason to care about Dyre, Spicer, and Talon or set them free.

I’d typically rate this significantly higher, but I’m going to explain why I’m being a brat with my rating: I am reading this in 2024… this book was released in 2018…. And the series isn’t even in digital book format yet, let alone has a release date.

SO annoying because I love this author’s work, from what I’ve read thus far, but I feel like C.M. Is experiencing the same thing as the author duo SV & CP…. Where you have these grandiose ideas for a series… and it’s doing well… but after pushing through a rut with the current characters, to garner further inspo, might start a spin off… rinse and repeat and next thing you know you have 3 complete series’ 5 incomplete but fans are pressuring for updates… and those characters aren’t important anymore… but instead of cueing fans I to the status of the series, let’s make it obtuse for years at a time in hopes there might be interest 5 years after the last book release.

But I’m here to say, as a fan… as much as I understand the pressure, a specific deadline for us fans is better than nothing. Even if it’s a “Q2 2069”, at least it takes out the guess work. Or in the case the author doesn’t feel inspired by the characters and wants to put it on the indefinite back burner, as a fan I’m totally cool with that too!

This also applies for the book in terms of medium: I’m all about audiobooks, my best friend is all about paperbacks, my mother is all about the kindle…. It’s okay if an author doesn’t think there’s ROI on paying to finish a book on a specific medium, especially audio, as it can be costly… just set some expectations and it’s cool… ya know?

Communication is key. As a fan, I’d appreciate transparency. I really hope this third book will happen.

SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I liked this book. It was fast paced and flowed easily. A problem I had with it was that that it was really small. I flew through it within one sitting and I didn't get as much out of it as I did the first one. I would also say that this was more of a filler book. There were some things that happened, but most of it was extra stuff that I didn't really care about which is a shame. I wish that the story would have picked up a little more and more MAJOR plot lines were focused on.
There was some more character development which I asked for after reading the first book. We got a little more of Spicer and Vexer though still not as much as I would have liked. The person we got the most character development with was Trubble. I would say he was one of the main plot points in this book and we got the most scenes with him. I am wondering if he is going to be a love interest now that he can turn into a human. It seems so and I actually support it. I think Brynn needs someone to lighten her up with all of the bad things that have been happening to her lately.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. It was a little predictable, especially the "plot twist" at the end. Even though this series has its faults, I still think that it has a lot of potential. I will be continuing because I want to know what happens, but I don't think it will become one of my favorite series any time soon.

This book in one sentence: Brynn starts school with her posse of ghost boyfriends, while she tries to find a way to bring them back from the dead.
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steaminess: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Would I recommend: I found Brynn's dialogue really annoying in the first book, but the story and universe are really interesting and I want to see where it goes. But I can tell this series is going to have a million books, so don't start reading unless your ready to wait a long time for any kind of conclusion.
Tropes: chosen one, mystery parent, all the boys are super hawt, one of the love interests is a prince,
Content warnings: violence

As you know, at the beginning of the second book, the majority of the characters were dead. Well, spoiler alert, all of them were dead by the end. Okey, maybe not all, but at least the important ones were.
I'd say that the situation was rather ridiculous (because it kind of was), if I weren't so enthralled with the story. I'm still not sure what the bigger picture is supposed to look like, but right now who the flub cares?!

My hunger for more of this world and its characters cannot be sated. Every page leaves me yearning for more, with so much left unsaid and unexplored. The cliffhanger at the end of each book is a merciless torture, as I eagerly await the third installment to ease my anticipation. Among the characters, I am particularly fond of the unique dynamic each member of her harem brings to the group. Yet, there is something about Spicer that hasn't quite won me over yet. His presence adds an intriguing layer to the story, but I remain undecided on whether or not I truly like him.

There were a couple of things which disappointed me with this novel. Firstly, it was way shorter than the previous book, secondly, I was a bit disappointed (no spoilers here) with a situation that led onto a scene which was seriously reminiscent of the first novel. I was surprised that it such a similar event happened again, I consider that same scenario didn’t need to be repeated.

I was happy with the rest of the novel, and cannot wait for the next one.

CONS:

*It was shorter than the first book.

*Many typos... eek

*Also I kind of knew some of what was going to happen because of the blurb from the first book.

Book two in this awesome series and Brynn is trying to deal with the spirits attached to her, the death of friends and her magic as well as being a new student at the university

Well written and extremely exciting I am loving this series, it makes me laugh, it gives me the feels, it’s exciting and full of drama and has some twists and turns that I did not see coming

I'm so freaking glad I started to read this series, it's truly so addictive! I can't wait to get the third book in my hands, thank fuck it's almost out and i only have to wait a few days.

All I wanted was for Brynn to save Talon, and for Vex, aka, my husband, not to die. My heart is hurting, have I told u I need the third book now?

Loved both books only to get to the end of the second (which was published in 2018) only to find out there is no ending? Story finished half way through and that's it - no final book. There is a pretense at a final book on Goodreads to trick you into believing there is one but there actually isn't.
Wow.
The author has released other books since .... very disappointing. I'll be going back and rerating the first book too. Don't bother reading.

THIS SERIES IS UNFINISHED AND I’VE NEVER BEEN MADDER BECAUSE THIS WAS LEFT ON SUCH A CLIFFHANGER. I just assumed that the next book had been released already and it HAS NOT. Bloody loved this book (except for Trubble, I’m really not a fan and I don’t live Spicer either but LOVE LOVE VEX) so I’m fuming that I’ll have to wait. Gimme the next one!

Add in Enough Sexy Ghosts, and Even Mary Sue is Bearable!

The Overall Feels
I really do love this series. I am a sucker for reverse harem, so I've got some serious bias going on there, but this easy read is perfect for those days when you want to skip the prose and go straight for the sexy bros. The main lady doesn't exactly get me hot and bothered, but I'll put up with her (and her boob-like wings, too--read it and you'll get what I mean) if it means more time with the built griffin and the bad boy kitsune!

The Uppers
1) These boys are hot as Hellim's hell. I lean more toward the ladies most of the time, but I'd trade any of the gals in this book for the uber sexiness that is the ghost professor, prince, naughty schoolboy, anime-ish warrior kid, red headed thief, and griffin. Not to mention the demon-esque kitsune that switches back and forth between human and fox form with a sneeze. (Yes, a sneeze!)

2) Surprisingly original considering there are a lot of "tropes" going on. Despite the fact that there are some cliche characters going on (see the list of boyos above!), CM Stunich has managed to give an original feel to their identities. The back and forth between the men (I especially love the way the kitsune, Trubble, interacts with his samurai prince brother, Dyre) is great, and the plot would be awesome, too, if the author would quit interrupting it with "TO BE CONTINUED" moments. I am especially interested in seeing where the story goes with the professor.

3) An interesting matriarchal sort of society with a lot of sexual freedom. I am a huge fan of the way she's sculpted an intriguing sort of "Who rules the world? Girls!" world... however, I am really hoping she expands more on the society in the third book. It's not very well developed yet, despite the fact that almost the whole first book was exposition on the characters. I also like their world's very original curses. I DON'T like how there is a lot of reverse sexism going around. It's as if this world has been flipped, and guys are treated almost as badly as women are in our world.

The Downers
1) The female MC is pretty Mary Sue. A classic "pretty but clumsy" girl, she attracts men like dog poop attracts flies for apparently no reason at all. It is most definitely not her winning personality, and while she's hot, she's not sexy enough to be hauling the boys in like she is. Also, she has that whole "I don't know I'm pretty" BS going on, which I can't stand. Not to mention the thing where she can't cuss or she loses a feather. That is simply as annoying as heck. If I have to read how a feather popped off or see her say "flubbing flubber" one more time, I'm going to scream.

2) This "series" is another of those indie books which are technically one large novel that has been chopped up into novellas rather than put together into the one complete book. People talk about CM Stunich's cliffhangers--but they aren't really cliffhangers in the traditional sense. Rather, they're a book stopped in the middle of a major plot arc so that it can be drawn out into another book. If this sort of thing bothers you, definitely wait until ALL the books are out before you read, but if you don't mind being jerked out of the action with a "TO BE CONTINUED," then hit this one up!

3) If the MC isn't cursed, then she must have BAD luck, because another hot dude ends up dead and attached to her as a ghost every two sentences. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but it's starting to feel like that! I am hoping there will be an explanation for this in the last book; otherwise, it's kind of weird. EVERYONE ends up dead around her? Maybe the queen should just off her, and the world would be saved!

4) The MC is so overwhelmed by how hot the ghosts are, she seems to forget she's trying to save their LIVES. Instead of focusing her attention on actually fixing her Dead Harem problem, Brynn spends most of her time muttering about how hot they are in her head. A little focus would be nice here, friends.

5) The big BANG at the end is spoiled at the start. I don't even feel the need to list this as a spoiler since it tells you at the start that this is going to happen... one of the boys mentions he's going to die at the start, then he does at the end. I would have been shocked and emotionally vulnerable, except I already knew it was going to happen. Talk about a spoiler built into a book. :(

6) Where did Air and Eli go? I love the new guys, but the fact that Brynn totally ditched her old guys (as in she barely speaks to them) was annoying and made me like her even less.

Conclusion
Overall, it's worth a read if you love sexy boyos--these ones are definitely hot and hung! If you're into deep plot... it's more of a maybe. The plot is VERY interesting, but it is most definitely overwhelmed by the constant drama with the boys. I really wish that this book was twice as long with double the focus on the plot. In that case, it would be a five star! See the uppers and downers below.

Title: Haunted
Series: The Academy of Spirits and Shadows, #2
Author: C.M. Stunich
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Cliffhanger:
“He was like... my anchor to the world of the living, a barrier that kept me from the Otherside.”

Sadly I didn't enjoy Haunted as much as I enjoyed Spririted. I went into it excited as hell, because I loved the first book, but was left nowhere near satisfied after finishing it.

I still liked Brynn's character as well as they they guys, though I still haven't warmed up to Spicer. I am, however, annoyed at how everyone kept using Brynn and all she did was get pissed off but did nothing further to prove her point by letting others know she wasn't a helpless damsel in distress. At least her 'cursing' stayed the same, which I still loved...
“Go to flubbing hell, you bleeding blatherer spirit shouting, son of a blitz!”

...and how could I not when it was funny as hell?

Also, what had me not giving the book a higher rating:
Too much sex. It felt like half of the book, or even more, consisted of either Brynn having sex with one of the guys, or thinking how hot they were and how she wanted to have sex with them. It got frustrating pretty fast.
Not much happened. I was instantly disappointed when I saw that it was shorter than Spirited but I wouldn't have mentioned anything, if not for the fact that nothing important really happened besides some unimportant dramas. Three words - middle book syndrome.
The dying. Even though first book's blurb clearly stated that all six of Brynn's boyfriends are ghosts, so it's not really something unexpected, I still found it ridiculous how every single guy of her unofficial harem kept dying.
Relationships. The ones Brynn created in the last book weren't explored that much, and the new ones didn't have chemistry, just attraction.

It was a close call whether to give the book 3 or 4 Stars, but after writing the review, I now see that I had more problems with the book than I thought at first, so it wouldn't be fair to give Haunted a higher rating. I'll just have to hope that Shadowed will be as good as the first book was and that it'll be worth 5 Stars.

Really enjoyed book 2, just wish it was a little longer hehe

I absolutely adore this series and cannot wait for the rest of the series to be out! I had to do a reread after listening to Book 1 on audio and realized I never reviewed book 2! So I think this is my favorite of CM's paranormal series because of how different it is. I love the concept and how CM is going through it is amazing! I just hope its more than just 3 books because there is a lot left to the story and I unless she is going to write a 100K+ book, I think it will feel rushed and not do the amazing story justice. I am totally ok with waiting another year to get the amazing ending to this story. This series is in my top 10 RH series of all times. I am totally ok with being patient to see CM weave her magic and do her characters justice like she has in her other series ❤️❤️❤️

Ok, so in Haunted, we get to see how Brynn and the crew deals with the end of Spirited which gutted me! I loved getting to know some of the other characters in Brynn's potential harem. I didn't think I was going to like Trubble as much but he is definitely growing on me. My heart aches for Spicer and hope he gets some good time in book 3. I thought it was epic with the tie-in with Dyre and am dying to know what happened to Vex! I thought the storyline progressed in this one. For once, I am actually interested in knowing more about the spell and Brynn's schooling, because the classes and her powers sound so cool and exciting. I need mooooooore.

The steam and tension in this one was just as good as book 1. I loved her time with Eli, can't wait for more. Sad for Air, but things should get better in book 3. My heart melted with Vex and their future mating and their kiss. And the thing with wings and tails hahahaha, had me giggling every time. I do have to say I am going to want to kill Air's mom, especially with the bs of wanting to separate Brynn from Air and probably offing the others. I know she is grieving buuuuut come on. You already have a lot of people against you, don't make it worse haha.

My only critique with this book is that it was a little shorter than book 1 and I wanted more haha. I know people are sorta upset with the wait between books, but I have other books of CMs and other RH authors to tide me over. I just want to know when to expect them so I can schedule my reread and clear my schedule haha. I love this series and cannot wait for more. I also cannot wait for book 2 on audio, which I totally will be preordering/snatching up when available ❤️

Note:
It has been FIVE AND A HALF years since this novella (it would need to be almost TWICE as long to make the bare minimum of pages/words to qualify as an actual novel) and the third and final part of the story 'Shadowed' is still not out and, given that, despite posting on her site's blog back in February that she planned on delivering it this year (among other books which still aren't out), she has apparently started ANOTHER new series, it is unlikely it will ever be written so invest your time and money in this novella at your own risk.

In fact, invest your time and money in any of her series at your own risk since this appears to be a theme with her as this is only one out of three series she has yet to complete while choosing to start other projects instead.
_____________________________
I don't know why it was called 'Haunted' since the majority of page time was devoted to the female lead's interactions with the griffin and the fox shadow, her only two living suitors out of the seven total.

Good
1) The female lead was likable and acted in an understandable manner for the entire novella
2) The fox shadow was a compelling mix of awesome, hilarious and vexatious
3) Entertaining relationship-building between female lead and the fox shadow
4) Sweet continued relationship-building between the female lead and the griffin

Bad
1) This is not a novel, it is a novella and a short novella at that.
2) Despite it only being a short novella, it is priced the same as her full-length novel, 'Spirited'.
3) Almost no further world-building
4) Settings were not fleshed out well
5) Zero movement on the serial's arc
6) No plot-driven story
7) A plot thread involving the queen was introduced and then dropped
8) Outside of the female lead/griffin relationship, no movement on the romance-driven storylines already in play
9) What a huldra is still hasn't been explained despite being brought up numerous times
10) Oh, and the blurb is not in any way accurate

What was there was enjoyable but it read more like a series of limited excerpts from a full novel. than a actual story.

Good follow up book. This book felt a little short to me. I’m not sure how many books this series will be but I’m hoping it’s not going to be drawn out too much. Good pacing is my pet peeve, keeping my fingers crossed we will get more spell practice in the next book as well as information about the queen and Vaenn. So finally, we got Elijah in the sack, (happy dance)... but after that scene Air was basically absent for the rest of the book. I don’t understand how Brynn can still call him the love of her life yet he doesn’t appear much in the book. And where is the queen? And what is she telling people about Air missing? It’s a little weird that we don’t know this at this juncture. My guess would be that the queen should want Brynn and jas to go along with the story so I don’t understand why we are missing this info. She is definitely hiding a lot! On to Vex... holy hot Tarzan! I imagine him looking like Jason Momoa! He is so sweet wanting to mate with her and yet let her be herself and give her time to decide exactly want she wants, when she wants it. Their sex scene was probably the best between both books so far. Hawt! Now spicer says if they are bonded, Brynn would feel when he died... so does that mean they have already magically bonded or was that just on his part? Next up is Trubble. And he is exactly that!! Love his snarky, egomaniac attitude, It really becomes him. Poor Dyre, will he ever get her ?? I’m thinking yes! We’ve got Talon back, yay! Great ending but was kinda shocked that we didn’t learn more of Vexer’s whereabouts. Do you think the queen has anything to do with his death? I thought vex would had been amongst the souls along with talon... (like he went to rescue talon on his own and died) if he really is dead. What is up with blondie? She is so annoying and I have a feeling she is going to find out about Air’s death in the next book. Will she be the one to tell everyone about Brynn’s spell? 🤷‍♀️ and why does Brynn have white wings on every cover yet she has black ones in the book?? Does that mean she is more good than bad half angel, is she really just half or more? Overall a good follow up just wish we got more. Can’t wait for book 3!

Disappointed :(
I got the sense that the author lost a lot of zest for this series and tried to steer it in a direction that was more personally exciting to her (such as the random introduction and over-inclusion of Trubble). However, this ended up falling flat for me and making the book seem, well, directionless and somehow boring???

(This conjecture is reinforced by how long it is taking for the 3rd book to come out)

...how could something set in this world ever be boring???
And yet, I was bored.

What went wrong:
*adding too many guys too fast, and without expanding on any of the relationships from book 1

*Trubble. First of all, that name. Jeez. Second of all, this guy only got to be human once a year and somehow has all of his physical and mental faculties up to snuff? He AND the professor guy forcibly bind themselves to Brynn and she doesn't respond all too forcibly

*did literally....nothing really happen after that big cliffhanger from the last book? We NEVER see the queen again. Her and her goon squad NEVER check up on Brynn

*NEVER see her parents again (iirc, her dad specifically says in the first book they should get lunch sometime....)

*barely any progress on the super important spell was made. Personally I think it would have been a good idea to bring at least 1 ghost back.

*can you imagine being in school with this chick? Constantly flirting with ghosties, changing her wing colors, binding the GODDAMN PROFESSOR to her, interrupting class, having ghosts pick her stuff up, bringing her weird, loud griffin bf around, beating the ever loving shit out of people in gym class.....sounds like some exhausting stuff.

What's going to be in the next book????

Welllllll there were definitely a lot of not-so-subtle hints about Air keeping secrets (I KNEW I didn't like him). I guess the griffin guy's spirit will also be found (what's his name? Talon, Terror, Screwdriver, something?). I think the spell should be properly cast pretty quickly in the beginning to really get stuff going

Caitlin Has Me in a Chokehold (and Not the Fun Kind)

Oh sweet, incredible, disgustingly talented Caitlin… why have you done this to me again?
First it was the series with Alice and her harem of husbands—the series that ruined my sleep schedule and raised my standards—and now this. How do you expect me to fall in love with your characters and then just… wait? Why must I suffer like this? What did I do in a past life to deserve being left on a cliff, dangling by one emotional cuticle, praying for the next book?

This series is everything: beautifully written, addictive, emotional, hilarious, and full of characters I’m now unreasonably attached to. I devoured every page like it was oxygen and now I’m left here, staring at my kindle like a Victorian widow waiting on a ship that may or may not return.

To anyone wondering if they should read this series: yes. Absolutely. But consider your emotional fortitude. Because when you hit that last chapter and realize the next book isn’t out yet? You will know my pain. You will join me in the trenches of longing.

Caitlin, if you’re reading this…
Please. For my sanity. For all of us. Release the books!! 🥺
