What a bittersweet ending to one of my favourite ever wartime series. I’ve been putting off reading this book for ages as I just didn’t want the series to be over. I reread the bomb girls Christmas (book number three) and decided now was the time to finish off this series I’ve really come to love.
Following all of these characters (with the odd new face thrown in for good measure) has been a delight. Back with Kit, Nora, Rosa, Maggie & co was great, as they all have major updates on their lives to share with us. From romances and marriages, to new friendships, I just loved the character development. And also Julia was a great addition to the Cowshed team and getting to know her was great too.
It was wrapped up so nicely and left you with a happy heart. I’m so sad to finish it but Edna the legend with her Malcom, along with all the bomb girls will always hold a special place for me. I’ve been reading them over the years and there’s no doubt I will go back and read them again and again too.
Also couldn’t recommend her other wartime series enough. Daisy styles encapsulates the feels of the war years, and throws in plenty of drama, entertainment and feel good vibes which make them a great book to disappear into. A wonderful end to a truly wonderful series. I’ll miss them!
