Who is the Hero?
Brody Fierce, Age: 30, Occupation: Manages the family bar
~ Brody is the oldest of quintuplets.
~
“The Fierce Five, as they were referred to in everything Aimee had read, were a cocky group of five siblings running the show in downtown Charlotte. They didn’t just set the bar for their competitors, they blew it up with dynamite.”
Brody feels he is the leader of the siblings, but thanks to a recent friendship that turned bad, he’s feeling guilty and questioning his role in the family.
~
“You haven’t been the same for a good year now and you know it. The last six months, you’ve been downright ornery. More than normal.”

Who is the Heroine?
Aimee Reed, Age: 26, Occupation: Bar Manager
~ Aimee has moved back home to be near her dad. She has a two year old daughter, Sidney. Aimee suffers from the “everyone always leaves me” syndrome, so she struggles forming lasting relationships.
Plot overview:
~ The Fierce quintuplets own one of the hottest spots in Charlotte. Brody manages the bar, and while he was away for a few days the family hired Aimee as the day manager.
Actually, the hiring was orchestrated by his mother who is trying to meddle in his life and help him find the right girl.
~
“They’re surviving just fine. But I want grandkids now.”
He knew it! “So you admit you set him up.” “Maybe.”
He pulled his wife in for a hug. “There is no maybe about it when you get an idea in your head. Let’s just hope this doesn’t backfire on you and some innocent girl gets caught in the crossfire.”
“It won’t. Trust me. I know my kids and I know what’s best for them, whether they want to admit it or not.”
Brody and Aimee had a tiny bit of a rocky start, but Brody quickly realized how helpful Aimee was and they worked well together.
**
The following are my thoughts about this book:
**
* * their first kiss came out of nowhere. There were no indications of strong attraction, so I missed the chemistry and buildup associated with the first kiss
* * I liked the relationship between the quintuplets. It was a little unbelievable that each had a specialty that magically fit into the family business
* * relationship building was a bit lacking. Example - when they went to the zoo, there was no description of the date, at all. Did I need to live through every moment at the zoo? No. But, did I need to experience some of that date in order to feel a deeper connection between Aimee and Brody? Yes. This happened several different times where I felt I was short changed on the relationship building - and therefore, missed that deeper connection.
* * I understand that parents might want to talk to their kids before making a decision to move in with someone. But Aimee’s daughter was two. C’mon! You’re going to consult with your two year old before committing to your man??? 🙄
* * Aimee annoyed me. I liked her in the beginning, but her insecurities and how “alone” she was got really old. Brody kept showing he was there for her and she would always end up back in the same place - pushing him away. Even after they professed they were falling in love, she accused him of acting selfishly when all he was trying to do was resolve a situation that was stressing her out. Ugh - she was frustrating. ☹️
~
“No one ever fought for her. No one ever stayed. She knew Brody would drop her soon enough, so it was best to turn away now.” 😡
~ “We’ve both said we’re sorry. We both feel like crap. So now what?” he asked. “I feel like it’s a never-ending cycle with us. When are we going to be able to not have this problem?”
^ ^ My thoughts exactly!!!!
* * the harping on about how Brody needed to change and quit acting selfishly also irritated me. I honestly didn’t get that and didn’t see where he was being selfish
* * in addition to Aimee’s wishy washy decisions, Aimee’s ex (her daughter’s father) also adds drama to the story. But, he wanted nothing to do with his daughter so this element felt forced - just for the sake of extra drama.
