It was with good reason that in 1500, Queen Isabella of Spain issued an official decree permanently closing the secret passageways that lie below the city of Salamanca, and it was with rash judgment that now, Nico and Adriana decide to explore them. Their investigation will prove more telling and more dangerous than either imagined. They discover that the legendary evil lurking below Salamanca is not so mythical after all. And there is more than one kind of evil that thrives in the passageways.
This story strategically weaves high-level language structures into a compelling story, which based on high-frequency vocabulary. Even upper-level language students need repeated exposure to language structures in order to acquire them, and Fluency Matters’ intermediate readers maintain a high-frequency factor of high-level language structures, thus helping learners progress beyond typical proficiency levels. But do not focus on language structures or the advanced grammatical features embedded in this story. Rather, focus on enjoying the story! The more you enjoy it, the more you will acquire Spanish without even realizing it! Happy reading!
Este libro usó vocabulario nuevo para mí. Antes de leer este libro yo no sabía lo que "sepultura" significaba. La historia fue un poco interesante pero no lo suficiente para las cuatro estrellas.
Overall: I think that Lucas should’ve died. And Adriana. Here me out… What if… Lucas got killed along with Youseff and the Adriana was like “bro. Imma get revenge”. So she goes to this boarding school, meets nico, convinces him to hunt for revenge and then they commit a life of crime together. BUT, they find out that Lucas was involved with some dark shit, so then that is when we find out that genies are real and that some dude lost his shadow. BUT, the ending is that instead of the dude getting his shadow back, nico and Adriana turn on each other and nico kills Adriana. I like my plot better. It has more flavor compared to this dry cracker of a story
Not a book for just regular reading, but it would be a good in class, learning book. Well written with some good vocabulary it is a good resource for the L2 classroom.
