Moving to a small town is murder—in more ways than one—for city born Mari and her teenaged daughter. Finding a body in the attic of their new home certainly doesn’t help, either. Determined to exonerate her late aunt from a decades-old case of homicide, Mari searches for answers. Old diaries unveil the strange and fascinating history of her Great Aunt Cora, and of a love that never died. With the help of the town Sheriff and her daughter, can she solve this mystery? Secure in her newfound faith in God, and with a growing appreciation for her new home, will she find her own true love?
Tea for One is a cozy murder mystery, perfect in the evening with a cup of tea just like the title says! It’s such a quick and engaging read that I couldn’t put it down and finished it in about two days. The story’s premise is intriguing: a young woman finds the decaying body of a man in her aunt’s attic, and she won’t rest until she finds out who killed the man 60 years ago! The characters felt so realistic, and I enjoyed getting to know Mari and her daughter Casey. The mystery surrounding the death of the gentleman was not too out of this world for normal life. Sure it was creepy and strange, in a very enjoyable way, but the characters had a sense of humor about it all, which was refreshing and fun to read.
I also enjoyed the interwoven elements of faith and changing hearts. Overall a very enjoyable read. Well done!
