Forced by his stepmother to make it up to her, Logan decides to help her win the heart of her lifelong his best friend, Matt. He knows how much of a challenge this will be. Matt is good-looking, popular and outgoing. Emma is quiet, bookwormish, and scared of everything. If you know me and the books I read you know I'm not a fan of strong language (swearing) and even less a fan of young adult books where everyone is sleeping around. So why did I read this book? Well, that's a good question...

I finished a book on my kindle and this showed up under Amazon's "top picks" for me. The cover was cute as was the synopsis so I thought I'd gave it a go. I loved the author's writing style and I was pulled into the plot and the really liked characters. This has some swearing, but it's not on every page or even every other page. Usually, when I come across the F-word in a book I quit reading but this one didn't have it in it until one very well placed point near the end.  There is also talk of sex and hooking up and teenage drinking and partying (not my thing especially in ya books). Most books like this I stop reading and go on to something else but the author had hooked me so I kept reading. In fact, I liked this author's writing enough that as soon as I finished this I read her other book. And honestly, this is milder than a lot of young adult books that are out there. I just don't typically read many YA romances and when I do I tend to stick to Kasie West and a couple others I know I can trust to be free of language and sex.

I can't really recommend this one due to the objectionable content but neither can I give it anything less than 4 stars because it was well done.

4 Stars - Great book (but please take note of the content mentioned below)

Content: Language including 1 use of the F-word, no sex scenes but talk of sex and it seems as if everyone sleeps around and it's both accepted and expected, innuendo & crude thoughts, comments

I actually really liked Challenge Accepted. Maybe it's because of Emma and Logan being the main characters but they didn't annoy me at all. I constantly shipped the hell out of them since I was first introduced them. Especially once Logan made us think that Emma wasn't the "girl next door" kind of love. Lol, of course she was.. he just didn't know it yet.

Of course this book was cliche and predictable but I still ended up loving this book. Yes, Logan was a douche at time but I still ended up loving him. Then there's Emma, who was the nerdy and shy girl but she was lovable because she loved books. She was like my twin with books. Either way I loved them together.. especially when they weren't together and were pretending to "hang out". Oh lord, even their parents shipped them together. Plus they had dreams of them being married.. SO OF COURSE I WAS ON BOARD.

Hell, even their friends knew what was going on. UGH, these two were adorable. The ending was adorable. I loved everything about these two. I guess I should blame the wine on how much I liked this book.. but I really wont. I just seriously loved these two. They didn't annoy me endlessly. I just loved them.

Overall, I really liked this book. I enjoyed the crap out of it. I will definitely look into more books written by Amanda Abram in the future.

This is another buy on amazon simply because I got an email about it, how do I keep falling for them?
To be honest this wasn´t as bad as I expected it to be. The only annoying thing is miscommunication, I can´t stand miscommunication as a plot device, JUST TALK TO THEM. This was the beyond annoying. Characters were okay but WAY over the top "I´m a nerd all I do is read so I shall reorganize my bookshelves all summer instead of traveling with my friends" "I´m such a playboy every girl throws themselves at me" some depth would´ve been nice.

Do I have any volunteers to decide all my future book buys? Cause apparently I really need it.

This was sweet!

If you don't like YA, stay away from this book. It's pure YA and even though I don't really like the genre, I read the book in one sitting.

The story follows Emma, a nerdy 18 years old girl, who never had a boyfriend. She participates in a project at her school to find the perfect, most fitting guy.

When she sees the result, she is shocked. The boy who should suit her best is Logan. Her neighbor and the guy who has been making her life a living hell for years and whom she hates passionately.

Science doesn't lie and Logan was only matched with Emma for one reason: he cheated on the test.

I don't want to spoil more about the plot. The story is sweet as sugar and even though it is full of clichés, I have never been bored.

I have read similar stories a hundred times, but nevertheless... I like this book :)

DNF @ 16%

I'm having an extremely hard time connecting with the characters, especially the love interest. He comes across as a major jerk with no redeeming qualities, and his personality and thoughts make me dislike him more.

Unfortunately, this book is not for me.

Emma, a nerdy 18 years old girl, participates in a project at her school to find the perfect match hoping it will be her long time crush. When she sees the result, she is shocked. The boy who should suit her best is Logan, the guy who has spent years tormenting her and whom she cannot stand, their dads may be best-friends but they sure as hell are not.

Science doesn't lie and Logan was only matched with Emma for one reason: he cheated on the test. When she finds out well the summer will lead to something neither expected.

Didn't think I'd be picking up a YA romance but I did and overall a sweet, easy and enjoyable one time read. Luckily I was in the mood for all the clichés that can be found in this.

The ending dropped my rating for two whole stars!

I started this book because for the first time after a long time I wanted to read something easy. Just a cute contemporary book where I would not have to worry about my favorite characters dying on every page.

And that's exactly what I got. Just a cute summer story about a shy, introvert girl Emma, and her next-door neighborhood, handsome but a jerk Logan, who'd been making her life hell since they were kids. After he ruins a chance for Emma to get a date (sponsored by school's compatibility test), he's forced to make it right. Coming up with a brilliant plan to get Emma to date his best friend whom she has a crush on, they start spending time together while Logan's helping Emma out of her shell when they start to have feelings for each other, though neither one is going to admit it because they'd hated each other since kindergarten.

I was really enjoying the story, the writing was funny, easy, not (too) overly dramatic. The (love)story was slowly building up and just when things started going together, it got ruined.

The ending was dumb and rushed and it felt like reading bad fanfiction. I was very disappointed by it. The story was really cool but the ending just killed it for me.

Don't get me wrong. I had other issues with the story too. For example, Emma going shopping and doing things Logan told her to because Matt(her crush) likes girls like that. But I was able to overlook that given that she probably did those things to spend time with Logan. Yeah, definitely, no need to drag my feminist side into this. Then the teenage drama part that's in every. damn. love story. Like, can't just two people get together without the drama? Please?

I’ve read many enemies to lovers novels, but this has been the best one yet. This book starts off with the H and h actually hating each other. It’s not like in other stories where the h “hates” the hero because he’s so hot and and she’s actually really attracted to him but doesn’t want to just be another girl who throws herself at him. No. Emma truly hates Logan. And Logan isn’t just teasing Emma but secretly is really into her. He actually doesn’t like her.

That’s what made this book so great for me. These two genuinely don’t like each other, but slowly, gradually, begin to start seeing each other in a different light. The progression of their relationship didn’t feel forced or rushed. It was a great and believable process.

Finally a nice one.

This was delightful.

I will admit, this was pretty much the same storyline I've read many times in Young Adult, but that didn't take away the fact that I really enjoyed Challenge Accepted.

The story is about a bookworm - that we're reminded of being a bookworm a lot throughout this book - wanting the summer she's always wanted. To organise her book collection (of course!), to find love, and avoid her pain-in-the-arse neighbour and enemy Logan.
It's obvious where their relationship develops through this book, it's very predictable and obvious, but it's fluffy and dorky, you can't go wrong really. Sometimes it's nice to know where it's going to end, and it's nice to have a cheerful one. We all love a skipping-through-a-meadow-walking-into-the-sunset type ending, don't we? Well, I do.

The characters were all pleasant to read about, obviously involving your stereotypical tropes but what do you expect really in a YA contemporary book. Abram's writing is really easy to fly through, she paces her stories nicely and what I also liked was that she didn't fully hit that 'OTT' mark that usually comes with novels like this. What I find in these typically is a bunch of misunderstandings which have me rolling my eyes, simple solutions to such drama is just communicating with each other so I'm usually just shouting 'TALK TO EACHOTHER'. This one, however, only had one and it was solved fairy quickly.
Refreshing. I like it. Teenagers, eh?

A few things I didn't like that reduced the star rating:

- Why even does she like Matt, he's literally the worst. Judgemental, shallow, and typical sleazeball who might seem nice but only wants a piece of arse. Which makes him in arse.

- Emma must be the only person in that town who reads because GOD FORBID anyone reads a bloody book, if they did, they're a complete nerd. Dork. Loser. (These insults are literally insults from primary school. I find it hard to believe that teenagers talk like this. They swear. Trust me.)
I'm surprised at the way a reader was portrayed in this book too considering the person reading it....is a reader. But anyway, the bookish nerd always wins in the end of these books by falling in love aged 18. Psh.

Apart from that, it was a very charming book, and it really brightened up my week. Highly recommend if you want something light, funny and make you smile.

Too cliché

This is the kind of book I would have loved as a tween, but despite the characters being 18, at 19, found it really un-relatable and unrealistic.

The book is written as a dual-narrative from Logan, the stereotypical hot player and Emma, the stereotypical (secretly hot) nerd's perspectives. Often, a dual-narrative can add dimension to characters or add to the intrigue, but in this case, the author used it as a way to repeat the same events from two different angles. For example, the author would write something like this:

"Emma's POV: I giggled at another cute guy. Logan was watching us, his fists clenched. "

But in case you didn't get it the first time, the next chapter goes like this:

"Logan's POV: I glared at her. Watching them together was infuriating."

Stuff like this doesn't really add anything to the plot, because it's not conveying anything the reader wouldn't have understood from the previous perspective. This occurs a LOT in the book.

Likewise, I felt like both character's were over-written, with their clichéd traits over-exaggerated to the point that it was just annoying and unrealistic. Sometimes clichés like this work, when the author makes it humorous, but the dialogue between the characters was neither witty nor funny. Most of the time, Emma and Logan acted like bratty 13-year-olds.

Did I mention that Logan was hot? Because the author feels the need to remind us in every chapter. For example: Are the characters going to the mall? Make sure the shop assistants through themselves at him! Going to a diner? Make sure the waitress shakes her butt at him! Going to a party? Make sure a girl strips in front of him! (Yes, this actually happened - TWICE!) Is Emma hanging out with him in any context? Make sure she constantly thinks about how hot he is! In case you guys didn't know... Logan's a hottie and you'd better not forget it!

Emma's 'nerdiness' fairs no better. Apparently reading books makes you the most undesirable girl in the world, which is probably an insult to a lot of readers out there. The main premise of this plot is that Logan must purge Emma of her 'nerdy' ways so that a guy will fancy her. So, there's a good moral - if boys can't accept you for who are, then ladies, clearly you're the problem!

With all the passive slut-shaming, objectification and damsel-like portrayals of women in this book, you can tell the author is a real advocate for female empowerment...

I would not recommend this book at all.

I thought this book was charming and delightful. It played out some of my favorite YA tropes (boy next door, a bet, nerdy girl, hot guy, etc.) but I enjoyed every second of it. I could have done with a little more romance than what it has, but I was caught up and didn't want to put it down. Really fun! I'll definitely be looking for more books from this author.

Good read

This was a fun book to read but had alot of pointless drama. The storyline was good but I was thinking this book would be more of a new adult being that the characters were 18 however it was a young adult for sure. Also I'm kind of confused that these kids are 18 when they are juniors in high school and supposedly really smart. If there was a bit more to it this could of been an amazing book but I just couldn't get all that invested.

Love/hate

What happens when you get to know the person you hate? It’s difficult to trust love when anger and frustration is a habit. This was a fun read and very engaging but does have a few swear words and sleeping around is accepted as normal yet it is clean.

Long story short, It is the type of YA, I want to read. It was YA, not NA disguised as YA.

“Apparently, the way to Emma’s heart was through her reading glasses.”

Emma is a book nerd, shy, reserved girl, who is so relying on a compatibility test to meet her summer romance. I loved the representation of her bookish obsession.

Logan is a guy who is not interested in a serious relationship, also don’t want to be first to break up with her 2 years Gf, so he lied on compatibility test to not match with her. He was shown as a playboy but he was wayyyy better than the playboys in other YA.

Which lead to matched Emma and Logan and he stood her up, After some threats from his stepmother, He is forced to make it up for Emma by helping her to set up with her long term crush.

Both are neighbour, Their fathers are best friends and really want them to be a couple. But they detest each other, especially Logan is a total jerk to Emma for straight 7 years.

The story is cliche, hate to love troop( I am a sucker for it), Still, I enjoyed it. The writing was simple and fun. All the characters were fun and I enjoyed each and every one…And Yes Parents were there for their children.

I liked the ending, It wasn’t rushed and the author didn’t decide to suddenly change the nature of characters.

“You’ve already destroyed me enough for one day.”

For me, it is a perfect summer read.

“You know, you told me earlier that I make you want to be a better person. Well, you have the opposite effect on me.”
I didn’t know how to respond to that. “How so?”
“I snuck out of the house again,”she said. “And now I’m also trespassing again. And this time, you didn’t force me into doing either one. I did it all on my own volition. That’s not like me, Logan. You’ve said it yourself in the past: I’m a goody-goody. I follow the rules. But now…I’m breaking the law and my parents’rules, and I don’t care! In fact, I like the way it feels to go against what I’m supposed to be doing. It makes me feel…”
“Alive?”I finished for her. Her eyes locked onto mine.
“Yes. Alive.”

Everyone who enjoys YA clean romance, this is for y'all. It was a adorable story. Logan is indeed a jerk and I would never imagine myself with someone who's been humiliating me since so long, but they make a good couple so who am I to complain?

okay this was actually really good. so much better than the first book from this author that i read. maybe it was the alternating povs? it made it so much better that i was able to see both sides fall in love. plus i loved how the boy fell in love first and it wasn’t the girl chasing the boy. PLUS matt was amazing. he was such a good friend i loved him. and riley was chill too. i liked this book a lot. it was utterly adorable. couldn’t stop smiling.

This book is way too cute to be THIS UNDERAPPRECIATED. I don’t get it, why isn’t more people talking about it?
Maybe YA/rom-com isn’t in trend anymore?

I liked both of the protagonist. Specially Emma, she is too relatable to not like. The only problem I had with this book was I didn’t know loving books were so humiliating and makes you "not cool enough" to hang out with "Normal teens". I mean, it definitely felt like a personal attack lol.
You can still love books and be cool. Infact, loving book makes you more cool than other teens. At least that's what I think but whatever.
Agree to disagree with the author I guess.

Dear Lord, the cringy dialogue and casual misogyny sometimes made it really hard to get through this.

“Challenge Accepted“ is a book written by Amanda Abram and follows our two protagonists Emma Dawson and Logan …ahem… I forgot his last name. Anyway. Emma and Logan both participate in a match-up organized by their highschool‘s computer club to find their perfect partner for an unforgettable summer romance. As Logan lies on the test to not get matched up with his kinda girlfriend Grace, he gets matched up with Emma to the surprise of them both. Why is it surprising? Because Emma and Logan have hated each other since childhood and they are quite coincidentally also complete opposites. I mean, they are both white, privileged, attractive teenagers living in two identical houses right next to each other, but, apart from that, complete opposites.

So, I picked this up after my last read of Amanda Abram which I very much enjoyed. This book unfortunately can‘t hold a candle to “Something New“. Not to say that you wouldn‘t be able to enjoy this, if you were looking for some YA trash to lighten up your day. Because, while it may be trash, it‘s also cute trash.

Nevertheless, I find it hard to find anything original in this book that I haven‘t read already a hundred times. Also, oh my god, we get it! Women are just objects for men‘s sexual gratification bla bla bla. A wonderful message to give teenage girls. To clarify, there is nothing wrong with having phobias or liking books or not being as sexually active as your peers. There is something wrong with just blatantly sexualizing every woman you ever come across. There is definitely something wrong with the attitude that woman are just there to produce babies and look pretty in the houses that you buy them. Because none of the adult married women in this book have a career! Another wonderful message to give teenage girls! Also, what bulls***. Yeah, randomly stripping in front of strangers or mere acquaintances is definitely a positive thing to promote as a safe tactic to get yourself a boyfriend. There is just so much problematic s*** in this book.

I would not recommend this book for teenagers. But if you are a teenager and do read this book, don‘t believe anything Logan suggests Emma has to improve about herself. It‘s sexist propaganda that has been fed to us as some great universal truth when it‘s really not. Not wearing makeup is completely up to you. Not wearing revealing clothing is also completely up to you. It does not reduce or increase your worth as a human being. And if a guy ever suggests otherwise, get away from him asap!

I'm so so happy right now that I found this book on a random search of book shopping online. It's the perfect book for a helpless romantic and bookworm like me. #stillindreamland #dontyoudarebreakmeoutofmyhappybubble

Okay, first of all, we get to have two main characters and read the story from both of their POV's. I love that!! Emma was perfect for me to relate to. She's the introvert that loves being alone with her books and not throwing herself onto every guy. She's a dreamer like most bookworms and wants to have her "Happily Ever After" or rather just a romantic beginning. It is so hard to break out of your shelf and face your fears. That's where the boy next door comes in, Logan. He's the bad boy in person, but as with Emma, there is more to him. ;) Logan and Emma grew up with each other and I know it's kind of a cliche setting "the girl/boy next door" but I just love it and also need these too sweet love stories where you kind of predict the outcome. You probably all know the outcome of such a story but what makes it exciting and gives you heartaches, anger, confusion and all the other feels about our two main characters is the journey they take.

I don't want to give away too much, but just let me say that one situation leads to another and reveals many interesting things and facts about Emma and Logan that even both of them haven't expected. It's just a too sweet story filled with amazing friends, awesome parents and an epic love story that has to have been written in the stars! ;)

This book and its characters have made it into my heart and have now a special place along with my go-to favorites contemporary love-stories. Great work from the author and I'm eager to read more from her!! I recommend it for all these other hopeless romantics out their that just need a cheesy love story from time to time. ;)

When Logan purposely lies on a compatibility test that his girlfriend, Grace, forced him to take, he is hoping she will take it as a sign that they need to break up. He doesn't realize that he cheated someone else out of finding their true match for the summer.

Emma is Logan's next door neighbor and a bit of a book nerd. She's nearly 18 and has never had a single date. She put a lot of faith in the compatibility test she took, hoping that it will lead her to her first summer romance. When she is stood up at the cafe where they were told to meet their match, she is devasted.

When Logan's stepmother finds out that it was Logan that stood her up and lied on the test, she forces him to find a way to make it up to him. He makes a deal with Emma to make her over into the type of girl that his best friend, Matt, would like and even promises Emma a date with him. Of course, such a makeover requires quite a bit of time spent together. Time spent together leads to getting to know each other, which then leads to dissolving some of the animosity they had toward one another, which then leads to developing other "more interesting" feelings toward one another.

This was a cute one. A little predictable, but it didn't bother me too much.

well this is a typical love story to be honest. its been a while since I have read one so it has been quite refreshing. this book is about Emma Dawson a full blown geek that has never had a boyfriend at the age of 17 and her neighbour Logan. they are on a quest to change Emma so that Logan's best mate Matt falls for her. the story follows the activities that they both do together and watches their relationship blossom. but do Logan and Emma succeed in their mission to find Emma love?
there are an array of characters and there are an array of problems that make this story come together. it grips you within the first few chapters.
my favourite character is Emma, she has a great personality and she shows that there are guys out there for all types of personality.
my least favourite character is grace, I think what she does to Logan and Emma is completely unfair.
I also found some hilarious bits within this book that made me want to continue reading. I would say a spatula would be a good weapon if needed.
its a shame we don't see how the relationship progresses further it would of been nice to see how they got on in Florida. I would definitely recommend this book

First things first, it’s glaringly obvious where this is going to end up from the off and the fun was in watching how long it would take to get there.
Emma and Logan have been neighbours for years. Their parents are best friends and, until the age of eleven so were they, but now they hate each other.
When Emma turns down a summer in Florida part of her thinking is so she can find her true romance - matched after a test run by the school computer club. What she doesn’t know is that Logan took the test, looking for a way to force a break-up with his girlfriend. When the pair are matched (obviously) Logan chickens out and it’s only when his stepmother finds out that he thinks he has to do something about it.
Logan’s plan is to atone for his actions by getting best friend Matt to go on a date with Emma. As the pair hang out it’s painfully clear they both like each other. They fight it, but the closeness is evident.
Hints of Pride and Prejudice (it’s even referenced) and while it’s not one to return to it’s certainly pretty good fun. I disliked the rather cliched focus on Emma’s looks and physical attractiveness, but at least this wasn’t the key reason for the attraction.

A Decent Read But With A Rough Start

This book was almost a DNF for me because the first quarter of this book was a big turn-off. And the hero, Logan, is mostly to blame. His actions and mindset are completely unappealing and he clearly comes across as a jerk. I was extremely tempted to quit while I was ahead, but somehow I decided to keep going. And, surprisingly, it got better. The book definitely turned around when Emma agreed to have Logan help her - and that's when the character growth and decent qualities for Logan started shining through. The romance was gradual and sweet. And the story was lighthearted. A major and consistent character annoyance was that Emma was unquestionably willing to change herself for a boy's attention and affection. Although she initially rejects the idea, she immediately changes her mind shortly after. If you're curious about this book, I would suggest borrowing instead of buying. An ok read overall.

i was initially excited to read this book (despite its horrendous cover) because the synopsis intrigued me.

while the book had a fun plot, logan was genuinely such a piece of garbage. i thought he was going to be redeemed and fleshed out towards the end but nope- he stayed just about the same.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a "raging feminist" but this book had so much misogyny it was gross. women - or should i say TEEN GIRLS - were constantly treated like objects. logan constantly told emma that in order to get a boyfriend she would need to wear more revealing clothes and change her personality to be more "sexy" because that's what men wanted. okay. gross and a MAJOR red flag.

and are we even going to talk about how logan only seemed interested in her WHEN she was not herself? ugh.

as much as i wanted to enjoy this it just got annoying and upsetting after awhile (also, the writing wasn't bad by any means but the story felt like a really cliche wattpad book)
