Wolf thought he was content with how his life was; travelling the world to sell his sword with a band that was closer than family. Now that the Iron Wolf Company has settled down and is building a garrison, he’s not so sure. But where does an old alpha like him fit? It’s not babysitting the six scruffy teens Chief gives him though, that’s for sure.
Cyrus crossed two kingdoms to run from his past but now that he’s reached his destination he’s determined to put it behind him. If only the scars of the past were so easy to dislodge. Alphas terrify him after the abuse he’s suffered but one grumpy alpha seems to be more than he lets on.
Neither of them expected to find the one thing they thought they’d never have in the budding garrison: a family.

Delmire Hart is a little ginger kiwi born in the peaceful country of New Zealand before she migrated to the wondrous crazy of Australia. Starting off as an avid fantasy reader and nerd extraordinaire, she was that one weird kid carting around brick-sized novels with glee. This closet romantic didn’t understand just what she was missing out on until she ventured into the depths of the internet seeking the perfect blend of erotic and romantic. Fantasy can be as sexy and sensual as you want it to be! Miss Hart now takes great pleasure mixing steamy gay romances with magical twists and intriguing dynamics. While always a sucker for a happy ending, she is a big believer that the journey to get there is the fun part and endeavours to create varied worlds for all to enjoy.
My, I’m on a roll with this series. 😱❤️ It’s really rare to see ABO dynamic books where they have a really good storyline with vivid and colorful characters. And this series is freaking nailing it! 😍 The first book was absolutely delicious and the second book equally entertaining. 👏 I loved how grumpy and reclusive Wolf quickly settled into the blissful domestic life with his mate and adoptive kids. And Cyrus is a one courages, determined and kind omega. Despite his torturous and cringeworthy past, the omega managed to overcome all his inner demons and found his true love. 😌 The journey of these two very unlikely souls finding a true love and life-long partner in each other is an absolute joy to read. 😊 And a plus for being able to see the continuing HEA of Angel and Chief! Babies are the loveliest bonus in these ABO stories. Loved it and can’t freaking wait for book 3. I’m so exited to read Tiger’s story. 😉
4 Wolf thinks the tiny, adorable Cyrus is so feistily sexy stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was sweet! It was nice to watch Wolf transform from the sulky, frowning hulk of an alpha to a reluctant family man. I like Cyrus too... I think the author tried to give both men an added layer, one that has more depth. While they certainly showed promise, I feel like it fell a little short.
Also, the author finally got an editor! Actually, I didn’t check if she had an editor in the first book. But it’s certainly a huge improvement from then. Still, there were some grammatical errors but not overtly so. I have hope that the next one would be better.
I feel like I need to say that this series has zero angst. The omegas are impressively strong and courageous. Just an enjoyable read all round!
I think one of the main problems I have with editing problems is I know I’m not professionally trained, barely stayed awake in any English class, never did get the hang of deconstructing a sentence and am never quite sure where to stick a comma. Yet here I am aggravated that what could be a truly great story has me irritated and disappointed.
Misspelled or misplaced words, a short slip of an Omega looking DOWN at his huge looming alpha, characters suddenly in different positions all combined to ruin this for me.
I feel really bad that Delmire actually thanked the people who did this to her.
Despite the above mentioned atrocities I did really love Cyrus and how he tamed the grumpy Wolf.
Again, would've been 5 stars if not for the editing. I'm tempted to go down to 3 stars. Please get an editor! I would actually be willing to donate to the cause!! These are wonderful characters and stories, but you get pulled out with the bad editing.
The story continued a few months after the ending of the first book. Everyone was settling down, getting busy with building their own garrison and their houses. With still so many things to do, they needed a lot of workforce. So the company had been accepting people who wanted to live in their small village in exchange for helping hands.
We got to meet new characters in this book. Not only did Wolf get himself six adopted kids, but he also got a mate. I liked the found family vibe in the story. They painted a really nice picture of a big family. Two dads and six kids.
The character development of not just the main but the side characters as well was well-written. To see Wolf, who was grumpy, pessimist and cynical, changed into a father and a mate was so heart-pinching. Cyrus, who was afraid of alphas and could barely move much less talk, was able to find his foot at the end. They grew together and found strength in each other.
What I liked about this was we got to see more interactions with the company members. There was definitely a lot of teasing, which I immensely enjoyed. It showed their close bond to each other.
I was also glad to see Angel and Chief again. Their relationship was just getting better. We got a lot of updates from them that I loved. The chief's father's appearance was also unexpected, but it was a nice touch.
If there's going to be a next book, it will be Tiger's. Out of everyone else, he seems to be the most ready to settle down. I can't wait for him to meet his mate and build his own family. For now, he was going to be the best uncle.
A perfect follow up to the first book. Not only do we see more of our favorite merc company but we get to fall in love with new characters and see Wolf as a sweet, cuddle bear/papa bear. The Alpha-Omega romance is not typical, which I like. Nothing sexy happens for a while but I found myself so into the characters and story that I didn't mind waiting. The Iron Wolf Company's budding village is coming along nicely. Some new recruits have come into town much to Wolf's dismay and a pretty little omega has become apprentice to Angel. The pretty omega with shining silver hair and eyes is frightened stiff of the scary, grizzly Wolf. As it turns out he had been abused by an alpha and is still traumatized by it. He fears all alphas and Wolf's size and appearance isn't helping. But he is determined to overcome his past and start a new life in the village. Seeing Wolf train and care for his new teenage recruits, Cyrus starts to see past the scary scowl. Wolf is considerate of the omega's trauma and soon Cyrus starts to find comfort where he once found fear. Feelings start to kindle but Wolf has his own hang-ups about love and settling down. Especially with such a pretty, little omega. Damaged in their own ways and with danger looming over the village can these two overcome their pasts and find happiness? Of course they can! DH is all about the HEA's. But you should still read about it anyway. Our scary Wolf is actually more of a cuddle bear than we thought and we get to see more of the Iron Wolf company especially Angel and Chief. I cannot wait for Tiger's book!!!
So far I've loved everything Delmire Hart has written and this book is no exception. Wolf and Cyrus are adorable and the secondary characters are fun and loyal; I can't wait for their stories. I really liked how Wolf wasn't pushy with Cyrus and he was so gentle with him without treating him like he was fragile. The pacing is also pretty spot on, I was never bored and didn't feel like it was ever dragging on. My only complaint, which made me give this 4 stars, is that it needs a bit of editing. Some sentences are clunky and a bit confusing and there are some typos. Not enough to drive me crazy but enough to be a little irritating. For example: Cyrus says he's 23 years old then later states he's 27. And not in a way in which he was deceiving people, it was just a really bad, obvious typo. But, like I said, great 2nd book in a wonderful series. I eagerly await her next book; even if it's not from this series, but hopefully Tiger comes out soon.
I'm not one to usually complain about slowliness in romance novels. I enjoy when authors take the time to build up characters and bring them together at a natural pace. However, when nothing happens for the best of 200 pages, I'm left wondering where has the time passed and why did it take me 3 hours to read through 100 pages. I mean, I really liked Cyrus and Wolf, their relationship and struggles. But too little happen in too many pages and while I appreciated Delmire Hart's writing, I had a hard time finishing up this book.
Wolf, an alpha, is part of the Iron Wolf Company and has no time for romance or mates. Cyrus, an omega whose been abused in past, is on his way to reclaim his life. When he meets Wolf, Cyrus is at first terrified of the grumpy alpha, but soon love sparks are flying. It was so satisfying to watch Wolf court and win Cyrus’ love and affection. They are a wonderful couple and the sex was hot.
Overall Rating: 4 Stars. The writing was enjoyable and the characters were likable. I enjoyed this story immensely and hope the author will continue this series one day.
I purchased the first book and had to purchase book two because I couldn't wait to read more about Wolf. There are many different aspects to the non-shifter alpha-omega world and I think this one was a nice example. Overall, I think the world created and the character dynamics made this a good read. I look forward to the next in the series and would purchase without hesitation. (I think book two is my favorite so far)
Cyrus was sweet so I couldn’t fault Wolf for becoming completely smitten by the omega. Cyrus changed from being skittish to becoming more confident and assertive.
Wolf was patient and I loved how he was always willing to go slow for Cyrus. The scene where he put his strawberries on Cyrus’s plate was so cute.
Brilliant yet heartbreaking story that will leave you wanting more.
I wasn't a big fan of Wolf in the first book, thought he did change as the story progressed. After his own book I may even like him mor than the Chief. There were some issues with the unresolved plot lines and editing but I enjoyed this story. Cyrus was also fun, he had a lot of issues to resolve but he never gave up and was generally a sweetheart.
DNF. Very feminine male characters - the way they thought, behaved and talked. Band of mercenary alphas didn’t behave like warriors or soldiers. Not much world building. Very wordy writing.
My God this series is so good! Its been years and I'm still waiting on the third and fourth volumes! Hope the author is ok, she's been going through rough times...
Well, I forgot that this was an mpreg series so I got the second in the series.
I don't actually hate the series, if the mpreg had been left out it would be the kind of series I would just follow because of the characters.
The world building could do with a little more time investment and fortunately, the mpreg is pretty much completely done without any world building or explanation...which made it so I could almost ignore it.
The Omega in this book is barren so that helped too.
So, if I ignore the mpreg and just focus on the story, it was heartwarming. I liked it.
