Karis Booth has had psychic abilities for as long as she can remember. But this is the first time she’s used them to solve a murder.
Things are changing rapidly for Karis. As well as filing for divorce from her unfaithful husband, she decides it’s time to make peace with her estranged sister, Erin. With trepidation, Karis visits the café which Erin owns. To her great relief, Erin welcomes Karis back into her life with open arms.
During their reconciliation, a young woman, Carmel, calls into the café with a bread delivery. As Karis watches Carmel, she experiences a strong psychic vision. She sees two shadows following Carmel. Only one of the shadows belongs to Carmel — the other belongs to the person who is going to murder her later that day.
With help from her sister and an old neighbour, Karis does all that she can to find out who murdered Carmel. It doesn’t help that the investigating officer is an ex-boyfriend who broke up with Karis because he couldn’t cope with her psychic abilities. Despite this, Karis won’t rest until she finds the killer.

April Fernsby lives in the north of England in a county called Yorkshire. Yorkshire has its fair share of hauntings and supernatural events, including a witch called Mary Bateman, aka The Yorkshire Witch, whose skeleton now hangs in a local museum.
April loves all things supernatural and mysterious. Her favourite book as a child was ‘The Faraway Tree’ as it took the reader into a different world where unusual creatures lived. April looked for a similar tree near her house but never found it.
Her Brimstone Witch series involves the main character, Cassia Winter, going through a cellar door and into another world where magical creatures live, and mysteries abound.
This book is a new paranormal murder mystery, book one. It has great characters and a good mystery. I like the psychic part, the fun characters, and it had me hooked right away. Can't wait for book 2.
This is one I picked up because I was getting curious about those cozy mysteries some people are fond of. I'm still not sure whether this was the right decision to make..
The entire time I was reading, I felt like the conversations were forced and the plot rushed. References to past events get cleared up quickly, but are equally as rushed through as the plot. The combination of those things backfires on the entire story - not to mention the characters automatically not feeling fleshed out at all.
The story was wrapped up neatly, but all my earlier issues still have a huge influence on my opinion. I honestly wish this novel would've been longer. It would've given the author more space to actually work through all the things I feel are missing in this book.
An excellent start to a new series. I was excited to see a cozy involving a cafe, a psychic who solves murder mysteries, and it's set in Britain. What more could you ask for?
The author has created wonderful characters that I look forward to reading more about in this series. This book is short but had a very well developed story line.

Review:
The characters are well developed and well rounded. I really enjoyed getting to know Karis and her sister Erin. You can tell they care about each other and they support each other as only sisters can do. Karis is a strong woman who has had psychic visions for as long as she can remember. Sometimes she thinks of these visions as a curse and sometimes as a blessing. When she foresees the death of a young woman she feels compelled to try and figure out the killer. With the help of Peggy, her mom’s elderly neighbor, that is what she sets out to do.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. I really liked the character portrayals and I really felt that Karis is a special woman. She is caring and enjoys spending time with the elderly and tries to help them whenever she can. I would like to know her in real life. The mystery was well written and there were enough suspects to consider and clues to sift through.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. Psychic books are among my favorite and this one did not disappoint. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.
In a small English town, a young woman takes a suspicious and deadly fall down a flight of stairs. Karis, the main character, and an elderly companion can't believe this woman's fall was an accident, and they do some sleuthing on their own. Their investigation is helped by the fact that Karis is not only smart, but also psychic.
I'm afraid the mystery wasn't really mysterious. It was easily solved and even over-shadowed by the sub-plot of Karis's sister. While those two plot threads were tied up at the end, the love interest was left dangling. Unfortunately, it never got off the ground. Overall, Deadly Delivery didn't deliver.
A Deadly Delivery (A Psychic Cafe Mystery, #1) This story had huge potential, but the finished product left me flat. Not sure what it was that did not quite work for me. I did not feel engaged with the characters. The conversations between the characters did not flow as well as they should. There was not enough to hold my interest to make me want to buy book 2 in this series. It was OK.
Karis has a gift that can be both good and bad. She can sometimes see the future but although she might try to warn about danger coming she has no control over the sight and cannot change the outcome. She is starting a new phase in life with her divorce and reconnecting with friends. When there is a murder that she foresaw she and some friends who believe in her gift help her try to solve the case. Good characters and a well developed plot and subplots make this a fun read.
Great read on forgiving self and others. Revealing ones true self to letting go of someone who influence your life and surroundings isolating everyone who truly loves you.
This is the kind of book (?) you'd expect to be written by someone who has never read anything but similarly written . . . books. Transparent mystery, flat characters, info-dumping dialogue, implausible plot, outrageously incompetent officialdom. Good exercise for the eyeball muscles, though.
I enjoyed this quaint little town mystery with the outrageous caracters vibrant and ready for an adventure. A scycic in the middle of a divorce, a little older lady with energy enough for two and an old friend that's come back to town and a mystery to be considered. Aquier a copy to day so you yourself can enjoy reading it as much as I have. 🤔🙄😊Kat
Psychic Cafe Mysteries Series: Psychic Cafe Mysteries Box Set 1 - This box set consists of the first four books in the Psychic Cafe Series. Where one book ends the next picks up the continuous storylines with each adding a new plot for that book. The characters were interesting; some could be considered annoying at times. Others were good in their supporting roles. 4*
A Deadly Delivery #1 - This is my first read by this author and I was surprised that it was good. The storylines were interesting and the characters were good. There was enough intrigue to keep the reader interested in this quickly read story. 4*
A Fatal Wedding #2 -This book picks up where the first book ends. Again, the storylines were interesting. The characters are growing into their roles. Erin got on my nerves with her lack of caring for herself with all those miscarriages since she's pregnant again. Peggy is a good support character with even more personality in this book; she's funny and a snoop, and a second mum. 4*
Tea and Murder #3 - The storylines are interesting and build toward the future. Karis and Seb are finally at ease with each other, but the past butts in again. Erin is still her silly self refusing to take better care of herself. Peggy rocks and is more of main character than Erin, which I like better since P is bright and lively and E is anxiety in motion. A good mystery with an unexpected twist. 4*
The Knitting Pattern Mystery #4 - Blast to the past, 1958. This is a well put together read. The storylines mesh well with a thread going back to 1958, as some of the others come to fruit. Good characters, although this time I found Peggy a pain here and there, bless her heart. Erin did well, not her usual careless self. The just friends are getting closer and everyone knows it, except them of course. 4* Psychic Cafe Mysteries Box Set 1 end.
The Cross Stitch Puzzle #5 - Picks up a few weeks after Knitting ended. The storylines are full of second chances, theft and murder, and cakes. The characters are interesting, even the nasty one. Peggy, bless her heart, kicks up her fascination with investigating the thefts and murder to Seb's dismay and concern for both her and Karis. There is a good twist or two. I think book compares better than Knitting, which was still interesting. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4* Psychic Cafe Mysteries Series end.
kindle unlimited, new series, used to her Brimstone Witch Mystery-ies, read this one about about to read #2, interesting premise so we'll see.

I really enjoyed this book, despite my initial reaction to the premise of it and I'm so glad I decided not to unhaul it.
The story itself grabbed my attention almost straight away and the author held up that interest the entire way through the book, dropping little clues here and there to keep us wanting more.
I particularly loved how Fernsby created this back story to why Karis and Erin weren't speaking beforehand, the vision and why she fell out of touch with her sister. It added another layer to the story that she was able to play on later.
I didn't think I would enjoy the psychic element but it was added to the story so well and it didn't overpower the rest of the story in anyway, which I was pleased about.
Throughout the book we had several characters and they were all so well written, there weren't too many that we lost track of who was doing who and everyone had a purpose within the book. At no point did it feel like the author had included anyone unnecessarily.
Karis and Erin's relationship was so sweet too, it made my heart feel all fuzzy!
I think by far my favourite character was Karis, and the way she stood up for herself against her ex husband and stuck to her guns about helping find Carmen's killer really endeared her to me.
I did not expect the killer at all! I do wish we had a bit more interaction with the killer though, I felt we were instantly meant to hate him because of what he did, but without much else to go on.
There were no huge shocks or surprises, except the killer, but for me this book just flowed. It made sense, it was well written and I enjoyed it.
On the verge of divorcing her cheating husband, Karis pays a visit to her younger sister, Erin, whom she hasn't seen in years. Karis still harbors guilt over the fact that she wasn't able to save Erin's husband, Robbie, from being wounded on the job as a police officer. It wasn't Karis' fault, however, that her dastardly husband didn't pass on the warning. Now, seated in Erin's cafe, Karis has another vision when a lovely young woman drops off a delivery of bread. Karis sees her being pushed. Later, she finds out the woman fell to her death down a steep flight of stairs. It may be too late to save her, but Karis is determined to see justice served, even if it means dealing with her former boyfriend, DCI Sebastien.
This was cute and uncomplicated. Karis is a likable character, but none of the characters seemed fully fleshed out. Seb came across like a donkey, but since he's in law enforcement, I'm sure he'll end up being the romantic interest in the series. I liked the (renewed) relationship between Karis and Erin. The cafe didn't feature much, although I expect that to change as the series goes on.
Enjoyable but not engrossing--average score of three.
This was a quick and easy to read cozy mystery. I liked the setup of her Karis starting her life over by reconciling with her sister and getting a much need divorce all while having to contend her psychic abilities to help her solve a murder. It was pretty simple. Not a lot of twists and turns. Not a lot suspense. The mystery was okay, but not overly exciting. It didn’t feel overly special, however I did really like the characters at the crux of story. Peggy was hoot. I found the relationship between Karis and Seb interesting for many reasons like they used to be friends then they had a falling out due to him make fun of her with buddies over her psychic abilities, and now they were now solving mysteries together and I’m sure throughout the series as well. Plus I can see him be a potential love interest in the future which I think would be very interesting to see play out. Other than that it just didn’t wow me and I think it’s going to be forgettable. It wasn’t bad just forgettable, and I just wanted a little more especially with the whole psychic abilities thing.

A brand new series from April Fernsby, and it looks like it's going to be a good one too. Psychic Karis Booth is getting a divorce from that no good husband of hers and reconnecting with her family. (Her sister Erin and brother-in-law Robbie Terri's) Her brother-in-law is a cop and that does nothing to keep her from becoming involved in the death of the young bread delivery girl at her sisters restaurant. This brings her in contact with a blast from the past, (an old friend who turned his back on her in high school because of her psychic gifts) DCI Sebastian Parker. I think we need to keep an eye on how their relationship developes in up coming books. Ms. Fernsby does a very good job in character development in this first book and I look forward to reading the next book. I received an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Give me a cozy mystery with psychic characters, and I'm there. Well, this time, with disappointment.
Karis hasn't seen her sister for two years. But apparently they live in the same town, know many of the same people, and share the "other mother" who lives next door to Mum. But the "other mother" doesn't know why Karis' feelings got hurt in high school, how hurt Karis was, or what's going on with Erin. Karis has a premonition that Carmel will die, and then guilt from two years ago makes her jump in to an investigation Without her high-school boyfriend, who hurt her so badly she welcomes his help, she'd have nothing and know nothing, so there goes the hurt.
I read this in about an hour and a half, totally unsurprised at a single thing, and motored on. I'll not be looking for A Psychic Cafe Mystery Book #2.
I'm not a fan of the narration for this book, the character voices were difficult to tell apart and the male voices were not convincing. The phrasing was done strangely at times and there were mistakes that weren't edited out. Overall is was disappointing.
The book was quite good. They mystery element was well crafted it wasn't obvious who the murdered was and all the clues were laid so it made sense when the reveal was done.
The characters are well developed and their interactions were interesting and at times amusing.
Overall and enjoyable book, but I wish I'd read the eBook.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Erin had psychic abilities when she was younger . Not everyone believed what she said . But some did. When she got older Her sister run a cafe' and had a delivery girl named Carmel delivered bakery goods to her business. One day they found out she had died from a fall down the stairs at her workplace. Erin got visions of sort. So she decided to so some investigating on her own into her death. A friend she dated in High School was a policeman now but she no longer talked to him since he made fun of her "abilities" in school and she hated him for it. But she decided to tell him what she had visioned so they could catch Carmel murderer.
It's hard to fit a lot into a 100 page novella, but Fernsby does that in A Deadly Delivery. We meet psychic Karis Booth, estranged from her sister and brother-in-law because her jerk of an ex-husband. The family is coming together, and when Karis gets a premonition about the death of one of her sister's customers, she tries to warn her -- to no avail. When the murder is mislabeled as an accident, Karis sets out to try to bring the murderer to justice. While the murder plot is fairly superficial, the characters are interesting and the family dynamics make this better than most novellas this size.
The psychic abilities of Karis Booth are often called into question so when Karis sees a murder being committed before it happens, she freezes and does nothing to alert the victim. Later, when the woman's death is written off as an accident, Karis knows she needs to act - not only to bring justice but also to find peace for herself.
Hurray for a likeable detective! It's been a while since I've enjoyed the main character's persona so it was a delight to meet Karis as well as her extended support group. Though the story is short, it does not feel hurried and all the plot points make sense.
A deadly Delivery is a good first book in a series. It introduces Karis Booth who has psychic visions. Karis is making some changes in her life. She has made up with her estranged sister and she is divorcing her cheating husband Gavin. She sees a vision about a bread delivery person--Carmel Johnson--and later finds out that Carmel has died. Immediately she wants to do what she can to help solve the murder mystery. Unfortunately, her ex-high school friend Sebastian Parker is the DCI on the case. I like the premise of a psychic aiding in murder mysteries. I liked the characters and I look forward to seeing what happens in future books.
A woman's clairvoyant gift shows her a murder in a small town. When the subject of her vision ends up dead, she sets out to find the murderer - with or without the help of the local police. This story has a healthy helping of charming small town life blended with a nasty murder and an even nastier murderer. Well written with an interesting heroine who,s finding herself after a divorce, dealing with the stigma of her paranormal abilities and mending fences with childhood friends and family. An entertaining read that's not too dark.
Karis Booth enters her estranged sister Erin's café for a reconciliation. She sees that Erin seems tired but as they're talking Carmel comes in with a bread delivery and Karis gets a strong vision of Carmel being pushed. When Erin and Karis get word the following day that Carmel fell on the stairs in the office area of the place she worked the know it wasn't an accident. Karis winds up investigating along with an old neighbor.
This is a great story and a fast read. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Life rarely goes as we plan. Circumstances and people tend to get in the way of it. Psychic ability or something else we all have moments of inclination or trepidation which should never stop our lives but help us get going. Babies, murder, and men who are singular in their own importance make growth hard in our estimation. However bad murder is, confessing to it rarely happens without compelling facts. I found the ending unrealistic and improbable. Otherwise this book held my attention and kept me reading on.
Most of these cosy mysteries are ok. But when people say they solved them all half way through, they are lying!! How can you solve it half way through when the guilty party isn't even introduced till the end!! Takes away from the story and purpose of reading. To solve the mystery!! Maybe y'all could write that way occasionally so we can be interested in reading these again! All the same. Not just this one, but all of the authors. Especially if you want $5.00 a book!! Thank you.
