Even in its brief 32 pages, and concentrating only on the working breeds, this little book shows that today’s designer mongrels are nothing new. Breeders have been playing about with their dogs for hundreds of years, producing ‘better’ animals. It is sad to see pictures of how different the original dogs looked, and to realise just how many of the local breeds have been lost forever.
