Malcolm Lawrence's auto-biography Something Will Come Along, is filled with numerous vignettes that reveal not only Lawrence's dry wit but also the comedic impact of his family and their adventures on his life. This wit highlights his storytelling ability and the wonderful details help to include the reader in the events that have shaped his life. From his sojourn in England as a Foreign Service Officer, to rearing nine children throughout his many travels in Europe, his life's tale entertains from beginning to end.
The memoirs which form the bulk of the book are indeed witty, if badly proofread, particularly his Foreign Service postings in England and Switzerland with his large family. The appendices vary from attacks on American school systems to a tribute to a DC area saxophonist. I wish I’d skipped them.
