Luana Ferraz is a Brazilian writer and translator. She currently lives in São Paulo, but her mind wanders everywhere.
She's graduated in translation and interpretation and has been working in this area for years. She loves translation, as for her it is nothing more than reinterpreting stories, but her greatest passion is telling stories of her own.
Luana has been writing and creating stories for as long as she can remember. Her first creative work was a series of comics on a thief that wore a beanie and always ended up in jail. She was seven years old.
As a teenager, she started writing poems and even music - the quality of which was very questionable. She discovered fanfiction and ventured into that a little bit, until she found out how to create her own characters.
She is usually found wearing headphones and typing - in her notebook, phone or just writing down an idea on the Disney-themed notepad she keeps in her purse.
She is probably writing right now.

This book all about happily ever after and gives hope. Welcome To New York is about Harry and Alana who have secrets. They understand each other and become friends or more than friends. They support each other in ups and downs and in the process there relationship grows and strengthens. They realize they are perfect for each other.

I appreciate books with happily ever after. It uplifts my mood and makes me a really happy person.

The author’s storytelling was wonderful and all the characters are lovely and quite relatable. This is so nicely written and is difficult to put it down. It is for days when we want something light and relaxing to read. I loved it completely.

Despite the two stars, this isn’t a bad book. It’s a sweet and cute book about kindness and love. But it’s just so. unbelievably. long. So long that if you were to skip from 50% to the very end, you would’ve missed practically nothing. Even the epilogue is the longest one I’ve seen. The characters are likable, it’s just that absolutely nothing happens in this book. This book is the characters’ living their lives, but there is no drama, there are no important event happening and I just don’t understand how that’s possible considering how long the book is. The author managed to pick the most amazing place in the world, NYC, to use in this book, and still made the book so mundane. I had to force myself to keep reading in order to finish this book, which took me probably a month, and if I wasn’t listening to other audiobooks, I would be deep into a reading slump by now.

WELCOME TO NEW YORK is a clean romance novel for young adults that captures the essence of "true love" in a compelling as well as an engaging way that stays continuously heartfelt throughout the duration of the story.

Due to the high average rating, I went into WELCOME TO NEW YORK with high expectations. It is more than safe to say that my expectations were gladly met and exceeded in some ways, which was more than pleasantly surprised as I am used to getting let down over and over again.

For being Ferraz's debut, WELCOME TO NEW YORK is filled with promising, likable characters you will fall in love with and be emotionally invested in from the first word to the last punctuation mark. Along with that, her writing is untarnished. Written in such a raw, unique way, I was unable to put this story down. Once I started, I couldn't stop. It's hard to do that for me, and Ferraz managed to, so I would say that's a pretty good accomplishment.

Being someone who normally reads very heavy, fast-paced reads, it was nice to get a little break to refresh. I would definitely suggest this next time you're in a reading slump!

If you are into the romance genre and are looking for a fun, but emotionally wrenching read, or if you like to read books suited for the young adult age range (or better yet, both!) then I would highly recommend picking up WELCOME TO NEW YORK by Luana Ferraz as soon as you get the chance.

Next time I go to Barnes and Noble (which should be this weekend) I will be picking up a copy of this to keep on my shelf as I would LOVE to reread a physical copy down the line!

If your favoured reading material is a compelling tale with a good sprinkling of relationships, imperfection, love, misunderstandings and humour then Welcome to New York by Luana Ferraz is a must-read for you!

From the get-go there was so much happening in this wonderful tale of love and romance! The story was told from two different perspectives: those of Alana Pylman and Harry Crawley.

Harry has arrived in The Big Apple from England, his plans awry and his life somewhat shambolic. Alana is from Oklahoma and is hoping to find success on Broadway, although she has had to put her plans on hold for the foreseeable future. Both are carrying more than their fair share of emotional baggage, but whether they are able to fulfill their dreams in the Big Apple, either individually or together is open to question.

I was totally smitten with both protagonists; Alana was mostly very direct, wore her heart on her sleeve and though a little reserved, she had an amazing zest for life. On the other hand, Harry, though initially not exactly naturally garrulous, was caring, willing to please and had a heart of gold. However, both were inclined to be secretive, self-effacing and distrustful. Author, Luana Ferraz had really worked wonders with all of the characters in this fabulous story and I was very fond of most of them: the owner of the Green Bean coffee shop, Guido; their manager, Martha; Alana’s wee daughter, Juliet, to name only a few. Even the less personable ones, their colleague, Jaymee in particular, still had very good parts to play and did not dampen my enthusiasm for this fascinating tale.

Aside from the brilliant cast of characters, another selling point of the novel for me was its fabulous setting; New York. Although I have never visited, Luana Ferraz had a wonderful way of articulating the ambience of the place and the general way of life, presenting the whole story as a beautifully wrapped gift.

The plot was awesome and moved along at a comfortable and steady pace and I loved the author’s general writing-style. There was no room for repetitiveness or boredom here! The story was, in part, funny and there were a few laugh-out-loud moments. There were some serious issues as well, such as coping with difficult or absent parents, loneliness and single parenthood.

I was rooting all the way through for Alana and Harry and Luana Ferraz rounded things off so masterfully which I fully appreciated. It was very hard to say goodbye to them and I found myself wishing them well for the future.

I recommend Welcome to New York without a flicker of hesitation, so don’t miss out!

Thank you to Luana Ferraz and BookSirens for giving me the opportunity to read this book. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

There are some books that unexpectedly just touch your very soul, you walk away from the experience changed just from having read said book. This book reached right on into my chest and tugged on my heart. There were so many sweet, beautiful, heartfelt, and inspiring moments sprinkled throughout this book. It was such a wonderful surprise to be swept away by the completely ordinary and yet extraordinary lives of Alana and Harry. To watch them learn to trust. Fall in love. Follow their dreams. Heal each other. Reconcile with their families. And learn and grow as people.

This is a book that i read in ebook format but I’ll be buying a physical copy soon because I need to have this book in my hands. It’s definitely one that I’ll reread just to remind myself of the beautiful magic that is in the ordinary and how when we finally open ourselves up and become vulnerable the possibilities for growth are endless.

I love absolutely everything about this book.
This is a book about never giving up on your dreams/ yourself in general. A book about reconciliation and making yourself vulnerable to get what you want and need out of the relationships you have with the people around you.

Thank you so much Luana Ferraz for sending me this book! Above is my honest review.

Welcome to New York by Luana Ferraz is a clean romance that follows two characters who have left their homes in other cities in order to find themselves – even if it means running away from their troubles – in New York. Harry has arrived from England with his plans is shambles and Alana has moved in from a flyover state in order to make her way on the theatrical road to Broadway. Both arrive with plenty of baggage, although not so much in the traditional sense in that its almost entirely emotional. Whether or not they can make it in the Big Apple with or without the other (and with some old skeleton hot on their tails) is a question best left to the talented Luana Ferraz.

Welcome to New York is exactly the type of story I needed after reading a whole string of books at the opposite end of the spectrum. It's refreshing and wholesome and just plain wonderful. Harry and Alana are both characters that are easy to empathize with and even easier to root for. They are authentic and stubborn and faulty and lovable, even at the times when they fail to see these characteristics in themselves. The setting of New York almost becomes another character, depicted in a way that wraps the entire story up in a perfectly imperfect bow. Luana Ferraz is a skilled storyteller and this is the kind of book that one can imagine playing out in the big screen. Thankfully, we don't have to wait for that. I'd recommend this book to all those who enjoy a solid romance with all of the right plot twists to keep you aching until the inevitable and happy end.

Romance books is my thing, I have read so many of them. I can read the same old trope over and over again.

Two strangers met in a cafe where they worked together. Both of them had secrets and were wounded. They helped each other and achieved what they dreamt of.

The book had a good storyline but the author didn't write it very well. English wasn't her first language so she couldn't make the diaglous witty or funny enough. The book was kind of long and many parts were not necessary.

Chicklits need good character development because we have to see the characters' personality. We need to feel their pain and their joy.

A cute clean romance. One that gives you a good strong story. One that you get to watch as the characters grow and there’s depth to the story.

Alana and Harry meet at the coffee shop they both work at. It’s a rocky start but once Alana can break down one of Harry’s walls their relationship blooms. We watch as these two make it work as they both grow and both go after their dreams.

This book has great characters, great side characters and such a good wholesome story.

Highly recommended.

If this book was not at least a little *a teensy tiny* bit inspired by the movie La La Land, then I am extremely surprised by their similarities! Almost throughout the whole book I found myself low-key fangirling like I had when I first watched La La Land.I absolutely loved Welcome to New York!

The cover was the first thing to hook me– it’s nostalgic, original, and when I look at it after reading the book, I think I love it even more because of how significant each of those buildings are to the story.

Welcome to New York takes two characters who are running from their past, plops them into a coffee shop in New York, and simply allows fate to take its course. Alana and Harry are an unlikely pair, but through their struggles, triumphs, adventures, and bonding, they not only help each other to succeed in following their dreams, but they discover that being successful together is a more desirable achievement.

There is, however, some cursing present, including a couple uses of “gd” and the “f” word, and many uses of the smaller curse words. With this being primarily a romance, I was pleased that there were no sex scenes, however there are implications of premarital sex. But the kissing scenes themselves never get really detailed.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Alana and Harry’s story and had the cursing not been so high, I would have likely given it 5 out of 5 stars, but because the cursing was so strong and I particularly dislike the choice of words used, I am only giving Welcome to New York 4 out 5 stars.

I received this book from the author via BookSirens for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

First of all, thank you so much Book Sirens and Luana Ferraz for allowing me to read an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

I am going to miss Harry and Alana so much!!!! Omg, what a book. It's been sooooo long since I last read such a heartwarming novel. It's so cozy, and sweet...

I feel like this would make the perfect winter cozy read, but I enjoyed it as much in summer! The characters are superb, so well written, so deep, so thorough... It's impossible not to feel them as real. Their stories become yours, their dreams become yours, their fears become yours, their success (or not) becomes yours. I want to continue reading about them and about the other characters too. I'd be happy if this were a series or part of a familiar saga.

The writing style is just immaculate. I really enjoyed it. Simple, yet compelling. The author could catch perfectly New York's essence and put it in a book. New York is a dreamy scenario for all kinds of stories, and I'm so happy this is one of the stories I will remember when I think of it.

I'm sure when time passes and I decide to re-read it, I'm going to feel like coming back home. How could I feel home in a place I've never been to? Well, Welcome to New York.

What a wonderful adventure through New York, Oklahoma, London and Oxford. Both Harry and Alana are wonderful characters, both troubled by their pasts yet find themselves drawn to each other, revealing more and more about themselves as they get closer and closer. Just when you think the mystery has been solved, something else is revealed to keep you reading.

Yet this story never seems to be drawn out or over padded. The pace was just right, the surprises just with the right amount of credibility, never far fetched and always neatly rounded out with the right level of realism.

New York is somewhere I have longed to visit and this book encourages me to go all the more. The bright lights of Broadway, the hustle and bustle of the streets and the beautiful scenery of the parks and commons.

Thank you to Luana Ferraz for Welcoming me to New York, I look forward to exploring more of this authors work in the future

First of all, I loved the premise of this book. Two people who came to New York to pursue their dreams, is exactly what most people picture New York to be, a city that can make your dreams come true! I enjoyed the pacing of the book and how the relationship between the two characters was built over a long period of time. It just make it more believable and realistic when they finally became a couple. I loved how both of the characters were willing to help the other overcome the obstacles in their past or order to help them move on in the present and future. Both characters were needful of the other but not overly codependent. Brandon was an interesting side character, but found his reasoning to reenter his ex's and daughter's life not really believable and found it to be quite flawed. I loved the little girl Juliet! She made all of the family scenes extra special. While the plot of the book was predictable, I still found the journey enjoyable. I would like to have known more back story behind Harry's mom's illness, and the unresolved issue of the identity of his dad left me unsatisfied, but overall I liked this book and would recommend this book to anyone who likes a sweet romance story set in the Big Apple!

The cover is really attractive and eye-catching. Bright and colourful, filled with happy vibes, forcing the attention towards itself. After reading the book I loved the cover even more because of it's significance to the story.
The story takes place in a coffee shop, Green bean. Alana and Harry are the protagonists of the story. Both of their personalities are similar in several ways. They are both introverts, and both of them have dreams with no hopes of achieving them.
"Welcome to New York" tells about the lives of Harry and Alana. It tells about their regrets, fears, hopes and their dreams. It is a clean romance. Anyone interested in the concept of true love should read it.
The character development was fantastic. I loved the plot. The book was a little long for me, but the story and the characters kept me hooked. The author maintained a sense of mystery around certain aspects of the character's lives which was revealed in due time and made the reading experience better.

I'm so grateful to have received an ARC Thank you very Much!!

If I'm being completely honest this book was a kind of cheesy middle grade romance. It's good I have to admit but it's just not the best.

Honestly I would rate this a 2.5⭐
but i'm being nice giving it a 3
it isn't really worth a long review but i recommend it to people who like cheesy stuff lol.

I honestly didn’t think I would like it this much. I went into it without any expectations I think that’s why I liked it even more.

This is a very beautiful book that made me put on hold all of the other books that I was currently reading. That’s how good it was.

I read this book because it was given to me as an ARC, which means it was free. However, I’m planing to get a physical copy because I enjoyed way too much and I would probably reread this again and I just need it to be part of my bookshelf.

☻ Things I liked ☻

• The plot was very interesting and seeing how the characters grew over time, because of their mistakes, was beautiful.
They both had secrets, and while it was sometimes frustrating to wait until they decided to tell each other, it was beautiful when they did.

• The way that the characters behaved was in a very realistic manner and I could actually see this story happening in real life, which is always a plus for me.

• The book as a whole was just plain addictive. I fell asleep so late multiple times just because I couldn’t put my phone down.

• The characters were well developed and played a beautiful part into the plot, which was fantastic.

• As a New Yorker, I obviously loved the setting, although it was not such a big part of the plot, but I feel like it was well portrayed by the author.

☹ Things I didn’t like ☹

• Because the story was written in a 3rd point of view, we could see what both of the characters were thinking simultaneously, which was sometimes distracting. HOWEVER, I loved that I didn’t have to wait until the chapter was over to know what the other character felt about the situation. Plus, for the most part it was well done, but I just thought I’d point that out in case that is a problem for some people.

Lovely long satisfying read!

I really enjoyed this long satisfying story! Harry's adoration of a baby girl he never fathered, while encouraging her biological father's relationship with her was heartwarming, especially since he never knew his own biological father and was hated and rejected by his "father" when growing up.
What he didn't know and found out late, was that his mother had been unfaithful to his very conservative dad before giving him four more sons. The realisation of why his father hated him caused him to give up his law degree (for ehich he was not suited but was trying to please his dad,) after two years, leave Oxford and find work in New York. His beloved mother died while he was estranged, but some of his brothers really missed him.
I don't want to spoil this lovely story for others, but his encouragement of his girlfriend's love of acting and singing was wonderful. No silly jealousy. No refusal to let her grow as a person, always supporting her even when she visited her unsuspecting parents with her 10-month old baby girl, even pretending to be her father made him an ordinary hero in my eyes. Well done to this Brazilian author!

Not Your Regular Contemporary Romance...Slow Build, Sweet

This is not quite your normal contemporary romance. It is slow and sweet. There's no big meet-cute. The hero and heroine just work at the same place It even takes awhile for Harry and Alana to become friends, let alone lovers. They both have pasts that they don't want anyone to know about. They are both scarred by their pasts but learn to trust and love again. They both have dreams for careers, but are held back by confidence and opportunity, and slowly, they just help each other realize them. They heal each other's past wounds and find true happiness. A lovely, sweet read!

It is written in 3rd person present, which was a little awkward to get used to...but it was worth it! There was some awkward phrasing and some grammar errors but not enough to detract from the story.

Welcome to New York by Luana Ferraz is a lovely cute clean romance for young adults. It being based in New York is what made me decide to read it. This novel shows the meaning of true romance and continues throughout the book.

A debut novel for Ferraz, the novel was filled with likeable characters that you found yourself routing for and whose stories are well padded out. I have to say my favourite character was definitely Juliet. This is a book not only about love but forging family relationships again and following your dreams.

It was definitely a welcome break reading this heartfelt light read.

If you are looking for a fun read in the romance genre, or for the YA range, then pick this book up and give it a try.

It's like reading a Gilmore Girls story! Do you know that feeling you have when finishing a book or a film where you think "OMG, despite everything, the world is a beautifull place!"? That's what I felt when finishing Welcome To New York, in fact, that was the feeling the whole time. Loving characters, great writing, I couldn't stop reading. I can't imagine someone not liking that story.

its surprisingly hard to stop reading once u start. the author excels at knitting a very unordinary story out of ordinary characters. A british boy in love with a country girl, could anything be more sweet? and then there is the secret weapon. I lost my heart to this story at the first blow

Welcome to New York was a refreshing change from angst-filled and action-packed novels. It is on the longer side which helps the readers develop a better understanding of the characters.

Harry and Alana have scars from their past that led them to leave their homes and come to New York for a fresh start. When they meet each other for the first time, they connect and as time passes they grow closer because they start to recognize that maybe they are not that different from each other. They start to recognize each other's scars. Harry and Alana were both likeable characters although I think what Alana did to Brandon and how she treated Brandon for most of the book was not justified, even though she redeemed herself in the end. I think she should have given Brandon a chance to explain. I felt Brandon's story could have been explored a little better.

Harry had all the traits of a hero. He was loving, supportive, rational and to top it all, he was handsome. Alana was resilient, thoughtful and always willing to help others. But the one person I loved more than anyone in this book was Juliet. Oh, she was adorable. I had a huge smile on my face every time I read a scene involving her and Harry. How Harry was with Juliet made him all the more endearing.

This is a light read and a sweet romance that one should definitely go for. It's a little slow in the beginning but once the book picks up, you will find it difficult to put down. Harry and Alana's family were lovely and I hope that one day Harry's brothers will get their own stories.

I received a free Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) from the author on Booksirens in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book, the writing style is easy to follow and the characters warm and interesting.
Harry and Alana meet each other at work and become friends. Both have secret lives outside of the coffee shop where they work and are both quite guarded. As the book progresses they become more involved in each other's lives and finally share their secrets with each other. It is a slow burn, clean romance, which isn't usually my thing but there was enough chemistry between them to keep me interested. The artwork on the cover of the book is lovely and is what attracted me to the book in the first place, since finishing the book I realise that each building has as a place in the story which I love.

The only criticism I do have is that the book is very long, with not much happening in parts or has parts when the story is repeated. Also as it is an ARC there were some phrasing issues, grammatical errors and spelling issues but not enough to detract me from the story or spoil it for me. I would definitely look out for this author again.

Ferraz's Welcome to New York has its heart in the right place, with the main protagonists, Alana and Harry, learning to love each other, and most importantly, themselves.

While I was reading the novel, I felt that it became too long and dragging. The novel could have been more streamlined, as I felt the latter part could have been a different storyline altogether. The reveals were a bit underwhelming, mostly because there were too many things/conflicts happening in the novel, so there were a lot of loose ends to tie up by the end of the novel. The dialogue was also cheesy in some places, but it added to the charm of the story.

Don't let the length of the novel fool you though. The story will still give you the perfect mix of emotions. Heartwarming and lovable, with just the right hint of romance, I'd recommend this to fans of Cecelia Ahern, and for anyone who just wants a taste of Happily Ever After.

When I first started reading Welcome to New York, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. It starts about Harry starting what he hopes is a stable job. I’m more used to reading about strong women in the main character role. But it was interesting enough for me to keep reading and I’m so glad I did! This has ended up being one of my favorite books. One of Harry’s co-workers is Alana. Alana becomes one of the main characters also. The storyline is both interesting and intriguing. The characters are believable. I found that I wanted to know how they each interacted with their own families and their significant others families. I wanted to know how they handled their own issues and their significant others issues. The writer did not disappoint that curiosity and more. I will recommend this book to family and friends. Thank you to BookSirens, the author and publisher for allowing me to read an advance readers copy for my honest review.

I rounded up from 3.5 to 4 stars.
Welcome to New York is a fun, clean romance about two people seeking to make a fresh start for themselves in a new city.

I enjoyed reading the story(ies) of Alana and Harry. Each of them were very likeable and relatable. The buildup to the reveal of their back stories was just long enough to build some suspense without leaving you hanging so long that you felt like you were missing something until their "secret" was revealed.

I did feel like the book itself was overly long. There are some parts, especially in the middle, that could be eliminated without taking away from the storyline or character development, and would improve the pace of the story. Additionally, perhaps because this is an ARC, there were a number of odd word choices, grammar issues, and spelling errors that seriously detracted from the overall flow.

With all that being said, I did like this book and would recommend it to lovers of this genre.

This book was clearly written by someone whose first language is not American English. There were so many odd expressions, wrong words, and so forth, that it was quite distracting. Also, for someone like me who is familiar with New York City, a lot of the book didn't make much sense. Example: how can someone who works as a waitress in a small coffee shop afford a multi-bedroom apartment, even in a walk-up with small rooms, in Manhattan, and then be able to afford airfare to Oklahoma and England? Anyone in that situation would have needed a roommate to share expenses, for sure. In addition, the story wasn't all that great, fairly predictable. I figured out Alana's secret well before it was revealed. Unfortunately, Harry's backstory wasn't very believable.

Book Sirens provided me with a free copy of this ebook in return for my honest review.

Welcome to New York is a heartwarming love story without the typical angst as is quite common with romances. It is a story of second chances. A kind that grows on you. I always prefer reading books with third-person narration, which is almost a rarity these days. The book was a welcome change.

Harry and Alana's characters have been fleshed out well. I also liked the supporting characters each with their own quirks. I enjoyed reading but did find the book a bit too long and drawn out. That affected the pace of the story.

I would recommend the book to anyone who is looking for a slow-burn, clean, and cute story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
