Joan Larkin is an American treasure. This book changed my life, literally. Larkin writes with such passion and confidence, it is truly amazing. "Broken Girl" and "The Blackout Sonnets" will knock your socks off! I am literally still barefoot!

Ditto to Joan's book first "Housework:" I read this book when I studied with Joan Larkin at Brooklyn College in the 80s, she signed my copy. She is a terrific writer, a leader in fighting for the rights of all people, and bringing the poems of lesbians into the world. She is a fine poet and it was a great honor to study with her.

This book holds her Blackout Sonnets, such strong writing. I heard her read these in a reading in the 80s and still remember being astonished.

This was her second book, somewhere in time she edited two of the first books of lesbian poetry. She is a force and still very active.
