After a day spent exploring the notion of time and finding concrete ways to measure its passage, Caroline asks her mother how long she will love her, and receives an answer even the youngest child will understand.
Elizabeth Dale always dreamed of being a writer, but somehow got sidetracked into studying for a physics degree. When her children were born, she returned to her dream and found she loved writing children’s books more than anything. She loves traveling and seeking inspiration for her stories. Having seen what a wonderful life she leads, two of her daughters have grown up to be children’s authors, too. Elizabeth Dale lives in West Sussex, England.
Caroline always asks for her mommy to come play with her, or how long until dinner, or how long till the moon comes up. With every question, Caroline's mother responsds with a time in munutes. Mommy told her 10 minutes until lunch is ready, but Caroline did not know how long that was. She decided to line up all her trucks until her mommy said lunch was ready. Caroline then looked at her line of trucks and could see ten minutes in a concrete form.
This would be a good activity to do with younger students when introducing the time unit in math. This is a good bood for all students from pre-k through 1st grade when they are having trouble measuring time. This book gives them a way to see time concretely just like Caroline.
