Pleasant fluff but nothing amazing - 3*

Unlike book one I actually remember reading this one. It is quite a simple low angst story with nice side characters. Given it was free on KU I was perfectly happy to have spent an evening reading it.

Another eminently readable collaboration between J.P. and Peter. Think of an early Valentine with brownies and a bit of steamy sex.
Peter Jacobs is one of those people you see on the fringes of life, watching and never letting anyone settle within his world. Peter simply doesn’t care about people or letting anyone into his life. He works seven days a week at the diner he inherited from his beloved mother. Amelia’s looks a little tired, but the ordinary food is extraordinary in Peter’s hands. He cooks a simple Patty Melt to unforgettable perfection. Sadly, the new brunch place across the street, Savory Sal’s is bustling and taking away customers to drink bottomless mimosas and enjoy the fresh ambience. Upon meeting the attractive new pastry chef, Peter relegates him to ‘enemy’ status.
Drew Carter is simply a drifter. A few months here and there to earn and save a bit of money with a vague idea of reaching California someday. He arrives in Poplar, Kansas and laughingly thinks it is the most boring, generic American town he could think of. Drew checks into a cheap, clean, and annoyingly friendly motel. After unpacking, he walks the streets looking for a place which is hiring. With his stomach growling, Drew sees Amelia’s and across the street Savory Sal’s, with few options in the one-horse town, he sees a Help Wanted Sign in Savory’s Sal’s and realizes he can get lunch and interview for a job at the same time. Immediately turned off by the hostile owner, who seems dismissive of the ‘traveling baker’, Drew is given a trial schedule and told that Sal would tell him what to bake. What isn’t known, and Drew cannot be bothered to tell the rude owner is that Drew is a phenomenal baker. Within a short time, pastries are the reason customers come back to Savory Sal’s and Drew can barely keep up with the demand. Of course, with Sal deciding what to bake and limiting his creativity, as well as, constantly criticizing him without reason, isn’t going over well.
Add in a chance meeting at the town’s comfy bar, attraction, curiosity, an unplanned lunch for the best Patty Melt Drew has ever eaten, a surprise visit from Drew baking brownies in Amelia’s without measuring AND no recipe, a spying agreement, a little steaming sex and the book takes amusing and unpredictable twists, offering the reader giggles, and ‘hungries.’ A good, sweet read on a wintry night.

If you love a well written romance with slow loving, tender caresses and sweet characters this book will make you smile, swallow as you take a deep breath and reread some passages more than once.

Set in a small town in Kansas a young man works to keep the restaurant afloat that his mother built into a thriving business...and bequeathed to him. Things have taken a down turn since another restaurant opened across the street, especially once they've hired a pastry chef who's offerings will make you moan as you savor each morsel. Complicating matters is the attraction they feel for each other!

Peter and J.P. write phrases that stick in your heart and make you wish you'd authored them. The tone of the story and the character of the man are richly portrayed in just a few sentences. Their books are so rich in descriptive phrases you'll feel like you're apart of the world they create.

One of my favorites come early in the book...'Running 'Amelia's' without Amelia turned out to be harder than Peter anticipated. He had expected life to be hard without his mom; he thought it would be hard to be a son without a mother. He hadn't thought about how hard it would be to be a chef without her, too.'

The passion he feels about cooking is the same he felt for his mom and how the importance of keeping her legacy afloat. Not just for himself, but for the customers who loved her as he did.

Please take a break from your life and enter this one. Small towns can be so welcoming!

While the first book in this series left me weirdly unsatisfied, the blurb on this one drew me in regardless. I'm glad I gave it a shot because I really got into this one quickly. When our lonely traveler Drew comes to town, he thinks it's nothing more than a quick stop to earn some cash and move onward. He ends up employed at Sal's- a restaurant across from the delightful-yet-woefully unchic restaurant/diner, Amelia's. Amelia was the name of our second MC's dearly departed mother, and he runs the diner now as head chef and operator. He's never been great at desserts, but garners new interest in them when word of a hot, new pastry chef over at Sal's spreads through the small town. He is convinced that Drew is his enemy, even when Drew proves that a)he doesn't care enough about it (or anything really) to be a part of that drama, and b) he's really into the chef across the street. Once these two finally get over themselves and their varied hang-ups about themselves and each other, a beautiful love story emerges. I really liked all the hotness and the descriptives about the delicious-sounding desserts. I liked this story and will likely REREAD it at a later date.

A sweet "angsy" story that leads you through the relationship of Drew and Peter. Peter inherited "Amelia's" his mom's restaurant after she dies. Feeling along and despondent, he lets the world pass him by as he keeps the restaurant going. Making no changes in his life or the restaurant,he gently driffs by. That is until Drew enters the picture. Working for the restaurant across the street, this first class baker brings customers to the opposition and now Peter is in danger of loosing Amelia's. Planning on hating Drew, he finds he can't. He wants him and now the struggle begins in the relationship as Peter tries to reconcile how he feels about Drew and what to do to save his restaurant. Friends are there for support, but Peter is sure Drew doesn't care for him. An entertaining story that involves passion and hot sex and growing love.I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC novel.

Recipe Of Love (Finding Shore Book 2) by Peter Styles and J.P. Oliver
This is Drew Carter, pastry chef, and Peter Jacobs, owner of Amelia’s Diner, story.

Drew and Peter both have experienced some emotional issues that they have not resolved. Drew never stays in one place very long. Peter loves his diner he is losing customers to the competition across the street. Drew is the pastry chef for the competition but there is something that draws Peter to him even though he doesn't like him. Drew is drawn to Peter but he doesn't do relationships since he never stays anywhere too long.

Drew and Peter's characters are a perfect fit for each other. Will Drew and Peter take a chance on love? This was a fun read.

FYI, contains mature content. This is a MM romance. Kindle Unlimited Subscription

When Drew drifts into town looking for a temporary job to make some cash, he chooses the wrong restaurant.

Peter is trying to keep his Mom’s restaurant going since she passed, but the competition across the street is doing damage. Especially with their new pastry chef. The pastry chef is, of course, Drew.

When they meet at the bar, they can’t look away from each other, and things heat up from there.

Great story of these men, hesitant, yet knowing they’re creating something meaningful together that can last. I like the guys and the couple that work for Peter, and Nick the bartender is a favourite.

Good read, less intense than the other book I’ve read in the series so far.

A lovely story with a setting in a little town, which, IMHO, adds richness to the interactions between characters.

I really loved the connection between Peter and Drew, and how they go from lust to love in a way that didn't feel rushed or unrealistic. A feeling-good story with the right amount of hotness, the right size to read in one afternoon, curled in a couch with hot cocoa... or iced tea if you live where I live :P

Desire can become more...

I really enjoy the stories from this writer and I look forward to another that will give my heart the much needed happiness for the character Nick. I would have loved to give this story 5stars but it's truly in need of one more thorough edit for grammar and syntax.

DNF - didn’t like the third person writing style that went back and forth on POV. In third person the people seemed flat and similar. Just couldn’t get into it:
