This introductory material in Video Game Development with Unity is designed to provide an understanding and application of the fundamentals of game design using Unity. The Unity environment can be used to create games not only for PCs and Macs, but also for the web, Android, iOS smartphones, and the leading game consoles. Included with the text is a DVD that contains hundreds of screen shots detailing step by step tutorials. The text will take the learner from installation of the free version of the software all the way through scripting user interactions and creating a project using a simple first person shooter. First and third person cameras, downloading assets and creating terrain as well as particle systems are all addressed. This text and DVD are currently used in the VGD121 Intro to Video Game Development online course offered at Yavapai College.
