Brilliant tale of friendship, some magic, some old forgotten about gods and an unlikely and unwilling ally.

This is one of those books that isn’t quite sure what genre it’s focused on.
At 1:34am each morning, without fail, Tima, Matt and Elena have been waking up. They don’t know why, there’s no obvious cause and since it’s been happening they are each able to communicate with animals.
Rather than hiding like many kids would, these three become unlikely friends and start investigating what’s going on. They encounter a mysterious shadowy entity that seems determined to destroy them. They don’t know how they know stuff, but they come up with a plan.
Rather odd read, but can see it appealing to younger readers. Definitely a good foray into fantasy.

This book is okay. It isn't the worst book but it definitely isn't my favourite. It is about a small group of children who always wake up at 1:34am. The description of the characters lives are very interesting and imaginative.

I like how imaginative and engaging this book is. The author created very clear imagery which i always love. I know this book may have been for a younger audience, but i wish Elena and Matt had some kind of romance, just to make everything more interesting.

Beim Durchstöbern der Vorschau des Hanser Verlags ist mir das Buch „Die Nachtflüsterer“ sofort ins Auge gesprungen. Das Cover gefällt mir unheimlich gut, es verströmt eine so schön geheimnisvolle Atmosphäre. Da mich auch der Klappentext auf Anhieb überzeugen konnte, stand für mich sehr schnell fest: Die Nachtflüsterer möchte ich unbedingt kennenlernen!

Es ist Nacht. Alle liegen in ihren Betten und schlafen. Mitternacht ist schon vorbei, es ist mittlerweile 1:34 Uhr. Also definitiv Schlafenszeit, vor allem für Kinder. Elena, Matt und Tima allerdings schlafen nicht. Nacht für Nacht wachen sie um diese Zeit auf. Warum, wissen sie nicht. Und was sie dagegen könnten, wissen auch nicht. Bisher kannten sie sich auch gar nicht, was sich aber noch ändern soll. Durch ihre gemeinsame Schlaflosigkeit finden sie zueinander und gemeinsam entdecken sie, dass sie besondere Gaben besitzen! Sie können die Sprache Tiere verstehen und sind sogenannte Nachtflüsterer. Tima beherrscht die Fähigkeit, sich mit den Insekten verständigen zu können, Matt kann mit Vögeln kommunizieren und Elena freundet sich mit einem Fuchs an und scheint eine besondere Verbindung zu Hunden zu haben. Als die drei Freunde versuchen herausfinden, was genau mit ihnen los ist, stoßen sie auf etwas Unglaubliches. Für Elena, Matt und Tima beginnt ein aufregendes und gefährliches Abenteuer, bei welchem ihnen ihre Gaben vom großen Nutzen sein werden.

Cover und Klappentext haben mir hier eindeutig nicht zu viel versprochen: Mir hat dieser tolle Reihenauftakt richtig gut gefallen. Dem Erscheinen der Fortsetzung fiebere ich jetzt schon ganz ungeduldig entgegen. Da diese für den kommenden Herbst angekündigt ist, werde ich mich aber wohl leider noch etwas gedulden müssen, ehe mich ich mit Elena, Matt und Tima ins zweite Abenteuer stürzen kann.

Das erste gemeinsame Abenteuer der drei Freunde hat mich richtig mitfiebern lassen. Gleich zu Beginn habe ich die Handlung als sehr spannend empfunden. Als Leser lernen wir nacheinander die drei Protagonisten Elena, Matt und Tima kennen und erfahren, dass sie alle drei seit einiger Zeit unter einer äußerst rätselhaften Schlaflosigkeit leiden. Stets Punkt 1:34 Uhr wachen die drei auf. Warum und was sie dagegen tun könnten, wissen sie nicht. Sie macht daher nicht nur der Schlafmangel sehr zu schaffen – auch diese Ungewissheit, was denn nur mit ihnen los ist, zehrt an ihnen.

Die Handlung wird abwechselnd aus den Perspektiven von Elena, Matt und Tima in der dritten Person erzählt. Diese Erzählerwechsel fand ich hier sehr gelungen, da wir so alle drei Kinder besser kennenlernen können. Was dabei sehr schnell deutlich wird: Die drei sind ziemlich verschieden und jeder von ihnen hat so seine Probleme. Elena lebt alleine mit ihrer kranken Mutter in einem kleinen Reihenhäuschen und versucht nach außen den Schein zu wahren, dass bei ihr alles okay ist.
Matt hat Stress mit seinem Vater, der Alkoholiker ist und besonders im betrunkenen Zustand sehr aggressiv werden kann.
Tima hat von den dreien noch das behüteste Zuhause; sie lebt sogar in einer sehr reichen Wohngegend. Dafür hat sie es in der Schule gerade nicht leicht, da sie sich mit einer Klassenkameradin nicht gut versteht.

Ich habe Elena, Matt und Tima sofort in mein Herz geschlossen. Ganz besonders Tima mochte ich richtig gerne. Sie ist die Jüngste, gerade mal zehn Jahre ist sie alt, was man aber überhaupt nicht merkt. Tima ist für ihre junges Alter beeindruckend weit. Wie sie sich gibt und wie sie redet würde einen niemals annehmen lassen, dass sie tatsächlich erst zehn ist. Ich musste ja ziemlich oft über die liebe Tima schmunzeln. Sie war eindeutig mein Lieblingscharakter in dem Buch.

Die Charaktere wurden wirklich wunderbar von der Autorin ausgearbeitet. Und auch der komplette Handlungsaufbau ist ihr klasse gelungen. Ich habe hier keine Längen empfunden und habe das Buch innerhalb kurzer Zeit gelesen.

Der Schreibstil liest sich richtig angenehm und flüssig. Super fand ich, dass man auch Textnachrichten zu lesen bekommt. So etwas mag ich in Büchern immer wahnsinnig gerne.
Für Kinder ab 10 Jahren bietet sich das Buch prima zum Selberlesen an. Sehr schön finde ich auch, dass sich „Die Nachtflüsterer“ für Mädchen und Jungen gleichermaßen gut eignet, da wir hier beide Geschlechter als Protagonisten vertreten haben.
Erwachsenen kann ich das Buch ebenfalls sehr ans Herz legen. In meinen Augen ist dieser tolle Reihenauftakt für jedermann absolut lesenswert, egal ob Jung oder Alt. Wer gerne spannende, actionreiche Tier-Fantasy-Bücher liest, wird hier ganz auf seine Kosten kommen.

Neben den tierischen Fantasy-Elementen bekommen wir es hier übrigens auch noch mit weiteren fantastischen Dingen zu tun: Unsere drei Nachtflüsterer werden auf der Suche nach Antworten auf eine böse göttliche Macht stoßen, die alles andere als ungefährlich ist und die die Stadt bedroht. Außerdem werden Elena, Matt und Tima auf einen merkwürdigen Jungen treffen: Spin. Da werde ich allerdings nicht näher ins Detail gehen, da ich nicht zu viel von der Handlung verraten möchte. Nur so viel: Spin ist kein gewöhnlicher Junge...

Mir hat dieser Mix aus Fantasy, Action, Spannung und ernsthaften Themen sehr gut gefallen. Auch wichtige Werte wie Freundschaft und Zusammenhalt fehlen hier natürlich nicht. Elena, Matt und Tima freunden sich erstaunlich schnell an und können sich bei ihrem ersten großen Abenteuer stets wunderbar aufeinander verlassen.

Das Ende ist recht offen, womit ich auch gerechnet habe, schließlich handelt es sich hier um einen Reihenauftakt. Da kann ich es wirklich kaum noch abwarten, endlich zu erfahren, wie es mit Elena, Matt und Tima wohl weitergehen wird.

Fazit: Ein richtig toller Reihenauftakt, der große Lust auf mehr macht! Die Geschichte ist durchweg spannend und mitreißend und lädt von den ersten Seiten an zum Mitfiebern ein. Ich habe das Buch richtig weggesuchtet und freue mich schon sehr auf den zweiten Band, der dieses Jahr noch erscheinen wird. „Die Nachtflüsterer – Das Erwachen“ kann ich wärmstens empfehlen, allen voran Fantasyfreunden. Von mir gibt es volle 5 von 5 Sternen!

War es überwältigend? Nein. War es schlecht? Nein.
Es waren gute drei Sterne. Die Story war okay und hatte ein gutes Tempo. Man konnte das Hörbuch sehr gut durchhören und der Sprecher Oliver Rohrbeck hatte wie zu erwarten seine Arbeit gut erledigt. Würde ich das Buch weiterempfehlen? Hängt davon ab. Es ist ganz klar an eine jüngere Leserschaft gerichtet, 10 bis 13 Jahre, aber auch da hängt es davon ab, welche Bücher der*diejenige gerne liest. Anfangs war es etwas langsam aber ab der Hälfte des Buches hatte es ein Angenehmes Tempo, also würde ich es an diejenigen weiterreichen, denen ein langsamer Start nichts ausmacht. Wie ich schon erwähnt habe, habe ich das Hörbuch angehört und das würde ich jedem ans Herz legen, wenn er dieses Buch lesen will, da ich bei dem physischen Buch vermutlich VIEL länger gebraucht hätte, nur wegen der ersten Hälfte. Das ist aber meine persönliche Meinung und auch nur eine von vielen. Hoffe ich konnte helfen.

In book one of a five part series, we meet Tima, Matt and Elena whom all have the fact they wake up each night at the same time in common. As well as that, they can all communicate with types of animals too.



There's a mystery around a quarry where they discover vast amounts of animals dying due to an underworld god. They also encounter a vampire there of their age called Spin whom they don't know if they can trust as they battle to defeat the God and stop him killing more animals, or humans.



Each of the characters has issues in lives from domestic abuse, mental health issues in a parent and friendship problems but combined the three share a friendship that binds them through their join power discoveries. It was mysterious and dreamlike and very much unlike any fantasy novel I've read.

Ali Sparkes is a great children's writer, and this book starts off a new series of hers that will surely be loved by mid grade children. Children with special powers, a vampire and a monster. What could possibly go wrong?

Tima, Matt and Elena don't know each other but they find one another once they all start waking up at 1.34 every morning. Three very different children but with this in common. They also discover that they can communicate with animals.

There is a nice interplay with the characters and with the supporting cast. It is all well written and well plotted.

I don't think I will continue with the series myself though. There is nothing very deep or memorable for us older young adult readers. This is just a great children's story that would rightly be lapped up by the intended age group. Thoroughly recommended for them. It would make a good gift.

Okay why was this actually kinda good

This book is basically about 3 kids who wake up at 1:34am for like 1 week straight until they found each other and then they just snuck out every night to try find out what was happening.

Spin's nicknames for Elena, Matt and Tima are lowkey funny though. Spongebob Squarepants, princess, blue eyes, Mona Lisa, Car Wash Boy??? Those are the most random names I've ever heard😭

The ending was so weird cause what do you mean Elena and Tima calmed down a literal tentacle monster who kills animals every night with singing and music??

Am I going to buy the rest of the series? No. But will I instead illegally download them and read it there? Probably.

I had never heard of the book or the author, it was gifted to me. Night speakers is about a small group of kids that for some reason are waking up at the same time every night only to hear a magestic singing. They set out first of all to expore the world when no one is awake this is when they meet each other and go about trying to solve the mystery as to why they are waking up unable to go back to sleep.

I found it a good short story to fill some time.

absolutely loved this book, carnt wait for the second one to come out. i believe its the third one of ali sparkes ive read and all three have been a delight. would definity recommend, especially good for children that are reluctant readers. the story was lively and the characters easy to relate to.

My son is a big fan of this series so I wanted to check myself what all his hype is about. I was surprised how good this story is, very clever and engaging. The suspense and action was almost unbearable and I think I will continue to read next stories especially that they're piling on my night table already :)

The story is about a group of 3 characters who wake up at 1:34am every night and discover that they can talk to animals.
Each character has a very different background and has an interesting backstory - in my opinion, the whole book is gripping and interesting to read.

I would have never picked up this book if i saw it in a bookshop, however, I got it from someone I know so I thought why not give it a chance? I am so glad I did, I read this book in two sittings which have never happened before. It normally takes me 3 days to read a book like this but I read it in about 4 hours. I love it the mystery, the cliffhanger at the end where Spin says " You don't know what pain is, one day I will show you" leaves us aa readers wanting to know what is going to happen next. I can't wait to read the next book.

I got this in a mystery book box. I don’t normally read YA or books targeted to a younger audience. However I did actually enjoy this. Of course there was your typical eye roll at the young adult style plot pieces scattered throughout, But I did enjoy the characters and in the end, I’m glad a read this book. I feel like I would’ve loved the writing, character and story when I was younger!

The best book i've ever read??? Its so unpopular and nobody likes it, but i am in love. I bought it from a random bookfair and its the best thing that i've ever did. Its about three kids and how they end up together, even they had nothing in common. It made me cry for no reason and try to throw myself in the middle of the forest at full moons. READ IT NOW!!!
