In the summer of 1989 the Iron Curtain was unravelling, and Daisy Hayes had just become a pensioner who liked to do her ironing while listening to the latest news on the radio.
The doorbell chimed. A police officer handed over a summons—printed in Braille. Daisy was being asked to testify about a baffling and gruesome murder, and had to follow the policeman at once. During the ride to New Scotland Yard, even before the first interview took place, the blind lady reflected that, though she knew nothing about this case, she would not be able to prove her innocence without revealing the two murders she actually had committed—many years ago.
In an original twist to the “good cop-bad cop” routine, the older police investigator in charge of this strange case seemed to be very much in love with the blind suspect, and encouraged her to come clean and find redemption at long last.

“As we have almost come to expect from this author, Nick Aaron playfully tweaks and mixes the conventions of different genres, offering us a compelling murder mystery that is at the same time a heart-rending romance.” – The Weekly Banner

I really wanted to like this book and it was interesting but the characters were strange. The title characters were blind and paraplegic respectively. They did have a romance of sorts that was very sweet and I was pulling for them to make it in spite of her somewhat
soiled past and very bizarre homicidal son. There was some WWII history added to the plot line which made it more interesting than just the mystery going on.

Another good mystery by Nick Aaron. Daisy, who is blind, is being investigated by Bernard, a paraplegic. The characters were unusual and interesting. I liked that Nick Aaron chooses to portray disabled main characters as strong capable individuals.

This is the second book I have read in the Blind Sleuth Mystery series. I read this one for my Mystery Book Club.

Nick Aaron is proving himself a true mystery sleuth in the latest Daisy installment. These great detectives have just enough flair to remind us of the tried-and-true sleuths, but they also bring enough personality and character development to stand on their own two feet. Aaron threw away the mold for mysteries and shows us he can develop his own style. The only recommendation this writer needs to follow is the difference between surprise elements and confusing twists. Keep it simple and the fans will pile up for the next installment.

A Matter of Trust

Daisy has a son, Johnny-Jon, who was born after her ordeal with the Master. When he gets in trouble with the law a wheelchair bound detective is called out of retirement to work the case. Daisy and Bernard’s relationship becomes ab exercise in trust. Lots of twists and character flaws are part of the story. Recommend Series.

Entire Trilogy Really Works

A talented author has given us a unique character who is utterly believable in the historical context. Puts the disabled in a respectful, normal light, along with a very diverse cast of characters... A skillfully handled 'mystery'.

Amazing book about a blind sleuth

This is the latest and I think the final book of the series about a blind sleuth. I think this bring the not quite happy ending in the sense of a romantic relationship between the sleuth and the protagonist. When is the sea about the series give some of the history of the world at the time. The descriptions of the news of the world event of Berlin's wall falling is fascinating from a personal perspective of a character. I realize that I had forgotten that it was a major event in my own life.

The characters are relatable, sometimes funny, and very unique. When I say relatable, I
mean I was legally blind then. So I could easily imagine myself as Daisy. And that's what reading is about, putting yourself as a character.

The author writes books in this series that are both very interesting and enjoyable. I would give it a six stars.

Okay, we have a blind woman, who can do some pretty impressive stuff, a retired detective, who is a paraplegic, and a person with an incredible reasoning mind.
There's a son, who appears to favor the Nature rather than nurtured rule, following his father in his psychotic need for his own personal needs.
Then we have a story that is intriguing in the way both past events and memories, tie to current situations.

Well written

The story of Daisy and Bernard keeps you riveted from beginning to end. It is not your typical sweet love story. The main characters are tragic and flawed but beautiful in their own way. The plot is very intelligently written and keeps you riveted from beginning to end.

Fascinating

I enjoyed this book as much as the first. The unraveling of Daisy's past story by a very clever detective, made for some intriguing reading. But it was unfortunate that a trust was broken. Sometimes telling your whole story can backfire on a relationship.

Daisy and Bernard

Entertaining story about a blind woman and a paraplegic investigator and several murders they are involved in solving. Unusual type of murder mystery.

Interesting perspective

I gave 4 because i couldnt figure out who the protagonist was and was going to find another book. Once i got to daisy it became more clear. Confusing beginning and not sure about the east/west part. Didnt add to the story in my view.

Very good book

I enjoyed all three books in this series. The plots were interesting and entertaining. Daisey was a marvelous heroine. I enjoyed the history each book told, from WWII to the 60s, and the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

This was an inverted mystery, which is really not my favorite kind of mystery. However, the writing was excellent and the characters were likeable and realistic. One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the character of Daisy. She was a blind woman in a major role and it was fascinating to learn about how she "looked" at the world. Her blindness in no way handicapped her -- she was a very capable woman. Overall, an enjoyable read.

i enjoyed this, but I didn't think it was as good as the first one. I disliked Bernard and Johnny John immensely. Bernard was cruel to Daisy for no reason. Cedric got exactly what he deserved. Daisy is a strong, wonderful character and I will probably continue with the series.

Book 3 of 3!

Gave book 3 a 5 star as well because it was as good as the other two. Really hate that the series is over now! Really enjoyed reading about Daisy and her adventures!
