When my father hires Seth Rovero as my bodyguard because of a few bruises on my arms, I’m confident that I can keep my underground fight club a secret.
But the devilishly handsome Seth tracks me down way too easily after I ditch him, and he has no problem complying with my club’s most important rule: no entry without a fight.
Although I suspect he is here to spy on me rather than to protect me, I may not have a choice but to trust him when a gang leader makes a move to take over my club.
As the attraction between us grows, I have no idea if Seth will help me or if he is here for reasons of his own...

Mistaken Your Love Is Dangerous #1 Talia Ellison 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Argh!! A cliffhanger 😫 Now I have to wait to find out what happens. I got really invested about halfway through. It had a bit of a slow start but then it gets you and pulls you in. Can't wait till the next book is released in August. This was my first Talia Ellison book and I really enjoyed her writing style. Thanks Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Mistaken is a good fit for those seeking a dark, intense, and suspenseful romance with a strong female protagonist and a mysterious, brooding love interest, set against the backdrop of an underground fight club.
I wasn't like absolutely thrilled with this book, but it wasn't bad. I was surprised by the heroine, who turned out to be more fierce than I thought. The ending took me by surprise. I really did not expect her to act the way she did.
This is one of those books where it seems as if the author didn't think very deeply about the plot or how things actually happen in the real world.
Victoria/Vix plays the role of a rich heiress by day and at night she runs her underground fight club. After the heiress thing is mentioned once, she never does anything to maintain her cover -- she never talks to anyone who isn't involved with the fight club, she never goes to parties, it's the worst cover in the world. The fight club doesn't make much sense either -- apparently this city is riddled with underground fight clubs, but this one is different in all of them in that people aren't required to fight to the death. I think there is one fight in the whole book that isn't directly related to the main plot. The author clearly isn't interested in fighting and it doesn't really seem like Vix is either (she doesn't ever fight).
Her father forces a bodyguard on her, more to help protect her reputation than to keep her safe. He doesn't know about the fight club and she tries to keep it a secret from Seth, her bodyguard. Seth is apparently supposed to be on duty 24/7, which seems a bit odd, but okay. Anyway, Seth tracks her to the club and he's ALSO adept at underground fighting. Vix suspects that he is working with Rubio, a local gang leader who, for reasons that are constantly explained but don't make sense, is obsessed with acquiring the club that Vix owns.
Vix decides to test whether he's a spy by writing down a plan to kill Rubio and leaving it on her desk so that Seth will read it. Yes, this is the type of book where it's normal for people to write out detailed illegal plans and leave them on their desk. This book features not ONE, but two, times where people just leave detailed illegal plans on their desk for others to find. Will Seth pass the test?
Everything is completely contrived in this book. Someone gets shot? Don't worry -- another character just happens to know an elite underground clinic where they can get first-class treatment for a gut shot so they'll recover in a few days and be ready for their next fight. Looking for someone who has been kidnapped? Don't worry, Vix knows someone who can hack into all the cameras in the city to see where they are. Need to search your arch-enemy's home for detailed information on his illicit activities? Don't worry -- he's about to send you an invite to his party for no real reason and then let you wander around his house. Is his office hidden? Don't worry, your bodyguard just happens to know another house just like this with a hidden room and he'll show you where the office is.
I really liked this read. Seth and Vix have great chemistry. The story is fast paced with lots of suspense and drama, Vix runs an underground fight club and Seth is a bodyguard hired by her rich father to keep her safe and more importantly out of trouble. Great characters and an entertaining story. A good read.
A quick and fun read to pass the time. Good creation of strong female character who are wanting to do their own thing without being dictated by their overbearing overprotective filthy rich parents. Some cheesy romance parts at best and a nice balance of secondary characters.
