Enter the Darkness. Kill Everyone. Save the World.
When Arthur Curie learns of a chink in the Darkness's armor, he knows it's his chance to turn the tide in a millennia old conflict.
There's just one problem.
To take that chance, he'll have to risk his entire army, side with a former enemy, and defeat forces of Darkness far greater than he's ever faced before.
But you know what they say, no guts, no glory, right?
When New York Times Bestselling author, J. A. Cipriano was in second grade, his teacher gave everyone in class a journal to write down whatever they wanted. Their first subject was to write about something they didn’t like. J. A. chose to write about why he didn’t like writing. His reasoning was simple. He had bad handwriting. Even then, he was destined to be an engineer due to his messy scrawl.
Unfortunately, he found through the course of this little adventure that he actually liked writing. That year was sort of the high point for his writing career because he won a writing contest for the state. He got to go to a big dinner and his teacher was all dressed up.
He kept writing little stories, year after year, and in sixth grade, won another contest. In seventh grade, he broke his arm and got the cast signed by both Dean Koontz and Stan Lee. It is, by far, the coolest cast he’s owned. That was about the time he found video games and anime. His writing turned mostly toward fanfiction until about ninth grade when he wrote his first novel, a small book about twenty thousand words called Revelations. In sophomore year, he wrote two more books to complete the trilogy because he saw Star Wars that year and learned trilogies were the cool thing to do.
He rewrote Revelations during his senior year, and his wife swears it is the best thing he’s written. J.A. is not so sure. Every time he reads it, he cringes, but then again, he hates everything he writes, so there is that.
It was about that time, he got heavily involved in a fanfiction writing group, but that isn’t one hundred percent accurate. It was a world based on a popular anime but everything was created especially for this world. It made it so that every story someone wrote was unique.
Imagine writing a Star Wars novel set 1,000 years after A New Hope, where everything that happened was a distant memory and you get the idea. You have the force, some distant memories of the past, and that’s pretty much it.
He wrote about a million words (863K to be exact) for them before he decided to do his own thing. He wrote another novel. He put it in a drawer. He wrote another one that eventually became the basis for The Hatter is Mad. His next novel was Kill It With Magic, his first real novel. It’s not bad, but it’s bumpy. This is unfortunate because the books get loads better as the series progresses.
Since then, he’s written six more novels, four of which are in the Lillim Callina Series, and one in the Abby Banks series. The other is stuck in a drawer for time undetermined. He’s writing his next book now which is about werewolves fighting mummies in Ancient Egypt. After that, he will move onto Abby Banks 2. The Spy Within will come out in June or July.
J.A. also has three chinchillas. Two of them are grey, and because of this, they are named Slate and Cadmium. The third is named Jet because he’s black, and Jet is old English for black. See, creative. He also has a cat named Turtle. This does pose problems for his two-year-old from time to time.
This is the fifth book in the Legendary Builder series. I have read almost everything that Mr. Cipriano has written just because I’m a big fan of how full of action his books are. This installment in the series is no exception. Not only is there great action, but the author is an excellent writer, bringing the action to life on the pages with great skill. I do have to admit that Arthur gaining greater strength every book is a little much, but it really doesn’t detract from the fun I have with these books. And, I can’t get over the end of this book. I can’t wait to see what Arthur has to do in next book; what a great cliffhanger! If you are a fan of this series, you will love this book. If you haven’t started this series, I’d start at the beginning as you might lose something if you don’t read it from the beginning. Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Having really enjoyed the previous books in the series, I had high hopes for this one. Frankly I was disappointed. The book started out with very uncharacteristic interactions between Arthur and several of the archangels. I understand the intent, but it was just too jarring, and also the explanation for why had to be recalled from the previous book, instead of recapped in this one which would have made it easier to understand in the context of believable characters.
It felt like an outline that listed all of the fights that had to occur was filled in with a very little time spent on the interactions between Arthur and the angels, which is the best part of the series.
I also thought naming the 10 generals 1 through 10, and going so far as to have their numbers tattooed on their necks, seemed a bit silly.
The Builder's Throne is another great book in the Legendary Builder series. If you have not read the other books, I would strongly recommend you read them first. This book moves at a really fast pace and a lot happens. The builder, Arthur, is a bit of a jerk in this book, more so than he was in the previous books (especially in the beginning), and while it kind of made sense, it bugged me a bit. Still. it's great book and fans should really enjoy it. I'm really looking forward to the next and final book! The narrator of the audiobook, by the way, is awesome.
This book contains sex and violence with angels and demons. If that sounds offensive, it probably is not the book for you.
Thank you..thank you for right a story with a powerful protagonist that it's not so op that it gets boring. A story where the strong mc doesn't get nerfed because you wrote yourself into a wall. A story that doesn't end in a cliche cliffhanger where one of the myriad flags that were seemingly tripped by the mc's actions and interactions were set off at the novels 90% Mark. Thank you for righting a darn good book. 5/5 no 10/5. Simply beautiful.
In book five we find Arthur getting stronger, but still initially biting off more than he can chew. New enemies by the name of the Generals will put Arthur to the test. The augmented items Arthur has been collecting will soon pay off. This is the book of combining things together; items, stats and heroes, not to forget heaven and hell. All will be revealed in due time. I liked this volume of the story, but it did seem to end much too quickly. Where is the next book? This one could have used another proof reader/editor.
That said, its an excellent continuation of the story with The Builder becoming legendary. The story line with the Generals seemed to end a bit too quickly and the beginning of the new book made me think I missed a book rather then just 'time passing'.
In this, my fifteenth read/listen from author J.A. Cipriano, it's all coming together! Outstanding & enjoyable read, especially for fans of FRP and so much more. The book continues seamlessly from book 4. Narrator Gary Furlong again lends his amazing talents to the reading of this book, his varied voice inflections adding greatly to the enjoyment of the book.
Excellent continuation of the series. I liked the plot line of this book. nice to see the relationships get fleshed out in the ways they did. Arthur is a awesome dude lol. Now to wait for conquest.
Heaven and Hell come together to fight the darkness, the builder has to join with the destroyer to bring back the tree of knowledge, then ascend to the throne. Loved every minute of it. I want the next one now.
Continues the story in an interesting way. I was most impressed by the author's clever revelation about Arthur and Dred's respective penises. Few writers pay enough attention to that sort of thing. Still, the novelty wore off awhile ago and I hope the next book finishes the series.
This is the fifth book in the series and the action just continues! Arthur must decide if he and his followers will team up with a previous foe to fight the Darkness. Lots of action, with a great plot and characters. I received a complementary copy and freely give my honest review.
The game of games, to live in someone else's mind (so to speak). Keeping the world safe while making a few mistakes. One string manly man gathering players to win by adding points to their points to everyone. Good storyline, good writing. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
