This is a fast paced read that is full of intrigue, suspense, action and romance. The chemistry between Eli & Nina was extremely sizzling hot. There were many twists and turns in this story that kept me on the edge of my seat while reading and I loved it. Eli and Nina’s love/hate relationship was written so perfectly and it went from a love/hate into a partnership and confidants. The story started a bit slow at first but then midway thru the book the story started flowing and the characters were on fire. Ms. Blakely has a wonderful way of writing her stories.
My Rating: 4.3 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This ia taboo love story. Eli is trying to hide being a vigilate who is planning to take down his stepfather. The book was nice and steamy, and kept my interest in the plot to be able to continue the book. It is a turn[ager my friends so as always ENJOY!
Ruthless by Kira Blakely a five-star read that will leave you breathless. Kira is one of those people that I get excited over every time anything she writes hits my kindle, the way she writes it feels like she’s telling me her story. Writing book boyfriends that will warm your heart as well as your underwear. Eli Connelly is most definitely one of those men, he could use his vigilante justice on me anytime. I will be honest and Nina Gusteau wasn’t a favourite at the beginning it was the pearls, I have a hatred of them. But by the end I loved her and she earned it all by herself.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I was super excited to dive into this story just from the blurb. Let me tell you that Ms. Blakely did not disappoint. Right from the start I was hooked. I found myself asking who and why out loud as I dove deeper into this story. Each new page had me on the edge of my seat and looking over my shoulders.
Is this book sexy? HELL YEAH! Is this book suspenseful? BET YOUR A**. Is it a refreshing and exciting turn on the step genre? THANK GOD YES!!! Kira has put together the perfect recipe of heat, suspense and downright great writing. RUTHLESS is just that...ruthless and unapologetic in it's delivery. It's not pretty or fancy but damn if it isn't amazing all the same.
Nina is the perfect good girl who without thought jumps through hoop after hoop to make Daddy happy. Her whole life is a lie and she doesn't even know it. You feel each crack in the facade of her life as it occurs and it's heartbreaking. Eli is...Eli is the opposite side fo the coin. Nothing in his life has been good or pretty but still his heart has managed not to become dark and stone-like. Eli was refreshing in his alpha, possessive and soft way. God help anyone or anything that crossed him or those he loved.
That's the set-up and I hate spoilers so...nah nah nah go read the book! It's worth the time and flew by faster than I had imagined. This book is face paced and engaging. I felt breathless and enraged with each new chapter. Being told in alternating POV was good and really helped to bring the characters to life. The chemistry between them had me hot and bothered. Kira has knocked it out of the park with this one. It was a pleasure to live in this world for a while.
It's a forbidden stepbrother romance mix with mafia romance. It has interesting story and plot, but it's not my favourite. It's packed with action, drama and suspense and of course plenty of hotness, but I didn't feel the connection between characters, I didn't find those sweet moments that got me smiling, it's missing the sweet love and sometimes the steaminess a bit too much. But I really enjoy it nonetheless.
As for characters, I love Eli, he's one sexy ruthless man, I love this man from the get go. And Nina, ugh I hate this girl, she's just too much, too childish for my point of view, until the end I can't manage to even like her, she's too annoying. But these totally bring the hot stuff in this book, so I'm okay with this two.
If you're looking for forbidden romance mix with mafia suspense read, you might like this one

I am normally a big fan so I was pretty surprised that I didn't fall in love with this book like I expected to. The characters struck me as just okay and I kept expecting for there to be more heart in the story. The sexy scenes were just as hot as I have come to expect but I couldn't shake the feeling of unbelievability. I couldn't get past how silly, weak and frankly dumb Nina is. There are reasons for it, but it was a distraction.
I'd still read it as a fan, but it is not as satisfying as many of her other stories.
Ruthless is a good name for this book. A lot of people in this book are ruthless. There is one shining light, and that's Nina. She does see the good in everyone, sometimes too much. Eli just wants to save his town, but he seems to be alone in that. I enjoyed this story and the characters in it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was a story so worth reading. I liked the characters and how well they were written to make the story flow. I loved the plot and the last few pages had be crying as they were so lovely and heartfelt.
These 2 had some serious chemistry between them. It was a good plot but made me laugh whenever they called the gang freaks lol Sometimes family isn't always what it seems!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Finally! A romance novel with some real action-adventure!
(Mandatory legal statement: Though I have attempted to avoid any obvious spoilers [I don’t want to make this easy on you! You’ll have to read the book for yourself!], I will state that I may imply certain pieces of information that can be misconstrued as a spoiler if you’re being picky! Okay! I said it! Now to the review!)
Oh… I forgot one important thing. I will admit that this has been a difficult tale to get my hands on. I was given a link to the ARC but only received the prequel. And no matter to whom I discussed this problem, I couldn’t get my hands on the elusive ARC. So I am saying for the record: I am reviewing this from a Kindle Unlimited copy I managed to nab. I’d like to say it was an ARC. But I’ve giving you all my usual, honest, no punched pulled, constructive-criticism review.
I’ve read and reviewed a LOT of stories over the past few months but have been sorely disappointed in the quality of the storytelling and the technical aspects of the writing. However, I was NOT disappointed with Ruthless. Eli is more than just a street-hardened barkeep who wants to take back his town which is being destroyed by a mob boss. He isn’t uber-alpha like other romance novels which are totally testosterone-ridden and -driven. But he definitely fits the profile of a shadow crusader (but without the embarrassing tights). Nina, though so naive until the last quarter of the novel, is totally out of her depths without even knowing it. If her father wasn’t the mob boss Eli’s seeking to put behind bars, she wouldn’t have been able to be the sweet, wholesome girl who runs a bookstore. But she does come with a past, one that even she is still trying to figure out. It’s her journey down a road where she might not want to know the answers to her questions that is fascinating to watch.
Length: Novel-length but not too long to turn off those who are in for a quick read. I think I read this in less than two hours, including some unrelated computer multi-tasking.
Emotional factor: Blakely was able to get me to really like Eli and Nina despite Eli might just be jousting at windmills and Nina might actually believe that her bookstore is making a profit. Neither are saints or sinners, but they were real people you could possibly meet.
Speed of action: This was a non-stop action novel, but it did allow you to catch your breath between crises and chaos.
Character development: I was pleased that Blakely did not create her villains with the usual dummy bad guy template. (Reminds me of an aside in a Castle TV episode with a suspect whined on how mystery writers make them look so stupid when they weren’t. “We have families. We have mortgages!”) I liked how Blakely crafted JP, Nina’s biological father and mob boss, at the beginning. Hearts and flowers to Nina. Evil incarnate to everyone else. However, once that mask slipped, so did the quality of his character. His henchmen had more pizazz than he did! However, I think the most honest he ever was to Nina was when he told her: “Everyone is expendable to me.” As for Nina and Eli, their chemistry was very credible and sizzling, and the character development supported their actions.
Credibility issues: For as well-written as this tale was, I did find something that rather annoyed me. In the beginning, Eli takes Nina on a motorcycle ride, driving 70 mph. Now it’s freezing cold outside. (Let’s call it 30 degrees F and a damp cold.) Neither of them are in cold-weather bike gear. The wind chill factor would make it minus 5.5 degrees F! We’re talking serious frostbite time and hypothermia, folks, and this can happen in less than five minutes. (I should know. I used to work in an ER one hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle.) And motorcycle tires would never take that kid of cold. I did my research. Most bikers prefer to be off the roads when it is less than 45-50 degrees and that’s at much lower speeds than 70 mph! The colder the roads, the less likely the tires will grip the road. So we’re talking high risk for wiping out. I will say that there were some very nice touches such as not taking the computers (despite the fact there was plenty of nasty evidence on the hard drives) if they were to make the insurance company believe that the building burned down on accident. With all the other novels I’ve read (and don’t forget the movies), no one has ever made this comment before. Sneaky thinking...
Grammatical and spelling errors: I must say the editorial brain was happy it wasn’t needing a red pen to mark up my ebook. It appears an editor was involved. *happy happy joy joy*
I was quite entertained by this novel. It had the right balance of some hardcore action-adventure and steamy romance. (Egads! Sometimes I wondered if I walked into Hill Valley of the wrong time line in Back to the Future 2!) It was about time someone wrote a romance novel with some kick-ass plots and subplots. It doesn’t have to be kissy-kissy all the time.
A life of pain, anger, and resentment could never prepare Eli for the vision of perfection in the bookstore window. Nina's life of Tiffany perfection could never prepare her for the dark, dangerous, feral mountain of a man across her counter. Together they'll find a world of darkness and a path of justice that could lead them either to hell or heaven.
Nina is a pampered princess and has no idea what kind of a world is around her. Sheltered and provided for by a man she adores, when Eli drops some information in her lap she's completely thrown and isn't sure who to believe or trust. The mostly absent father she loves is also the monster that raised, abused, and threw away the man in front of her. With her world falling down around her ears she finds passion and protection in Eli's arms. What they forge through all the adversity they face is actually pretty intense and sweet.
Eli hasn't known sweet in his entire life. He knows all about the darkness and depravity in their part of the city and he's determined to cut off the head of the snake. When he learns that the head is his step-father he's even more motivated to cut out the cancer, with vicious intent. His plan is derailed a bit when he discovers Nina's connection to the man. While educating her on who the man really is and what her kingdom is built on he finds that there's something more, something deeper that draws him to her. What he finds in Nina's arms is peace, solace, acceptance, and freedom. He'll never give her up.
I'm not exactly impressed with Nina's vacillation but I can understand it. I get where she was coming from but to make the decision to trust Eli and then deliberately go behind him to do what she did wasn't okay. Sure, it progressed the plot to put her in the situation she found herself in, but what it also did was make me question her convictions, her intelligence, and her fortitude. I'll make some allowances because she was young and terribly naive, but saying one thing and then doing another isn't something that can be blamed on youth and naivety, that's just a character flaw.
Eli really shone for me. He was a man of convictions, honor, patience, strength, devotion, and passion. He was committed to taking care of his neighbors with no thought to compensation. He was given a hand and became determined to offer one of his own. With Nina he recognizes something pure, sweet, good, and definitely sexy that could soothe his soul from all the loss and pain he's experienced. I admired and respected this man. The synopsis makes us think one thing about him, with what he thought was important, but there's really zero mention of those things in the story at all. Even his geriatric neighbors could see that it wasn't true about him. So it's slightly annoying that the blurb gives one impression only to have it be pretty much false.
The drama was suitably intense. And there was a ton of sex. Nothing is wrong with either of those things, but I kind of feel that the sexy times got in the way of the plot and the actual relationship building. I believed it but couldn't really feel it, you know? The ending was really sweet and full of healing, forgiveness, and feels. A fitting end for a good man.

His Step-Sister's Protector I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Eli owns a bar in town that he has worked so hard to make a success. he had a dreadful childhood once his Mum married JP who was abusive and kicked him out the house when he was 15 years old. Eli also suspects that JP murdered his Mum. There seems to be a crime wave happening in the town and he suspects JP. But when he discovers that he has a step-sister and that JP's daughter runs a bookshop very close to his business he makes it his business to meet her and when they meet the heat and lust between them cannot be denied. But does Eli and Nina have a chance of a relationship between them bearing in mind that she doesn't know anything about JP's criminal dealings? There is an instant attraction between the two of them and it only takes so long before the chemistry between them spontaneously combusts in one fantastic night of lust, passion and mind blowing sex like they've never known before and it's not just a one night stand. This is a fantastic story by Kira Blakely that is very different from most of the books that I have been reading lately and so it's rather refreshing. In this storyline, there is drama, fear, attempted murder, thugs, a beautiful and feisty young woman who falls passionately in love with our handsome hero . Kira has created these two terrific characters for us to enjoy as we get to know them. As the story progressed, I immediately liked Eli as he has had so many hurdles to overcome to be where he is now and that shows determination, courage and a profound sense of self worth. He is exactly what she needs and vice versa. They both need a loving partner who will love them passionately, always support them and when their lives are in danger they are there for each other. How is JP going to react when he finds out that Nina is in a relationship with his enemy? What will he do to Eli for making enquiries about him and his business? Will Eli be able to protect Nina? Do they have a chance at a HEA or will death part them forever? To find out you need to get a copy of this book and the prequel too so that you can enjoy the suspense and hot and steamy romance between Nina and Eli.

I voluntarily Reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I love the intensity, the drama and danger in this book and I hope Kira writes many more. This story is about Eli and Nina. Eli was abused as a child and thrown to the streets at 15. As with all children who are made to suffer such circumstances, they either turn out like their abusive parents or they turn out exactly the opposite of the abusive caretakers. Eli raised above, taking the higher ground having all the attributes he parents did not have. Eli is actually seeking revenge for his mother by destroying his stepfather, JP Gusteau, Crime Lord, for her murder. He wants to rid his neighborhood of crime and make it safe for his neighbors. He soon discovers JP has a daughter, Nina and their attraction is instant and intense. Nina is completely naive about who her father is, what he does and who he harms. She is devoted to him even when Eli tries to opens her eyes by telling her his truth. Nina needs proof and starts looking for it expecting to prove to Eli he’s wrong but instead, finds the truth. Little did she know that after confronting her father about her findings, she would need to turn to Eli for safety from her own father. After she is kidnaped, Eli stops at nothing to get her back and Safe. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Eli has had revenge on his mind every since his step father threw him onto the streets and killed his mother. There's no proof of this crime and no one else seems willing to do anything about it so its his mission in life to make JP Gusteau pay. He never imagined that following his enemy would lead him to Nina an innocent in all the mess. Nina loves her father somewhat she is unsure of her place in his life. When Eli comes crashes into her world she never thought it would change everything she ever believe to be true. Now working together they try to take down her father. Can Eli and Nina bring her father down and get the justice they want?
This was a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Eli and Nina is smoking hot. This book has so much action going on that you don't realize how far you are in the book until you're at the end. Kira Blakely has another hit on her hands.
Fast paced and steamy. Eli, bad boy biker and bar owner, with a good heart. He is on a mission to bring his crime lord step-father down. The man who abused him as a child, kicked him out at 15, and killed his mother. His plans get complicated when he finds he has a step-sister.
Nina is her father's little princess. As a child she seldom say him, always away on business. Now she is running one of his businesses. Then she meets Eli. He shatters her life, when he tells her who and what her father really is. While she is falling for Eli, she is looking to prove him wrong, until she can't deny the truth.
Great story. Loved Eli. Nina was likeable, often annoyingly naive, with a few to stupid to live movement, but that's what made the story so great. Loved their happy ending. The author generously included a few of her other books as a bonus.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. I bought a copy, in support of the author, I love her books.
This was a great story with a twist on the mafia style princess, the story is full of drama and suspense that kept me turning the pages until it was done. Eli is a sexy, brooding, gritty bad boy but there is a heart of gold underneath that skin. The fact that he was not written as once that played the field or had tons of women in his past mad me really love this character. Nina was a great character as well but still came off a little too weak and dumb for me to connect to, granted there is a reason why she should be so naive but still I could not connect. The chemistry written between them was hot and intense, did not disappoint. I do not like spoilers so I will not provide any but this book was a great read, you should definitely give it a chance.

Very well written short story with great storyline and plot. Full of expanse and hotness. I like that the characters are relatable and likeable. It has a nice pace to it. I like the main characters and how they develop. They are very likeable and relatable. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating from first to last chapter. I like the story very much. A different theme with a twist of mafia. But well handled.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. Great romance with a twist and very enjoyable read. I would have loved an epilogue to finish the story. Lots of chemistry in this amazing story.
The author has delivered a story that is worth the read!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. An awesome book. Lots of twists and turns. It had me pulled in from the beginning. Eli is trying to find out who the "Freaks" are that are robbing and causing chaos in his town. He sees one of the "Freaks" talking to his stepdad. He followed his stepdad and watched him as he went in Paper Treasure and was talking to a girl. Once his stepdad left, Eli went in Paper Treasure to find out what the girl knew. Nina told Eli that JP was her dad. Eli told her that she was JP's secret family. Eli also told her that her dad was running illegal stuff. Nina was curious so she asked her dad and he got defensive. Nina had a hard time believing her dad was a monster. Will Eli convince Nina that her dad is a monster? How will Nina react?
