She’s come to Gold Valley, Oregon, for a fresh start—and roped the perfect cowboy

Jackson Reid is a man fully in control of his world, and his ranch. But when a past one-night stand shows up without warning and leaves him holding a baby, his whole life is turned upside down. He’s in over his head, and he has one solution: a nanny. But when he picks Savannah Sturm up from the airport, he finds that she’s so much more than the “plain and tall” woman she described herself as…

With one glance, Savannah’s new boss makes her feel more than her cheating ex ever did. Jackson insists he can’t do relationships, especially now that his priority is baby Lily. But his “no strings, just sex” offer is irresistible. And as raw desire gives way to something far deeper, maybe it’s Jackson’s turn to learn how right being wrong can feel…

This is a steamy Cowboy Romance Novella, and this is the 1.5 book in the Gold Valley series. This is a simple and fast moving sweet romance. I love the two characters. Both of the characters did not think they should have better, but they both broke each other walls. I really love Maisey's writing, and her ability to build so much character development in a novella. I was really happy to be in Gold Valley again. (*)

Mail Order Cowboy is a novella in the Gold Valley series by Maisey Yates.

Jackson finds himself overwhelmed with the arrival of a new born baby on his door step. He’s a daddy and in need of help, so he hires a nanny.

Jackson and Savannah are easy to like. Both are doing what they can to find themselves and start over. They end up settling into life together in Jackson’s small cabin. During which they have to sort out their feelings towards each other and what they want for the future.

The thing about the novellas in the Gold Valley series is that they are too short for me. I just don’t fully fall in love with them and the characters. I feel that we need a novel, so that we can dive deeper into the characters and develop the romance better. The romance in the novellas is very fast and quick.

All and all Mail Order Cowboy was a nice sweet read.

This was in the back of another book and I couldn’t help but start with this one.

I liked Savannah and Jackson well enough. They’re both in a new situation and I enjoyed reading them figure it out. They do have some instant chemistry and fall in love in about a month, so there’s that.

Plot wise, it was fast moving because there wasn’t a lot of pages. The problem with novellas is that they’re just never fleshed out enough. I would have liked to have seen more romance and talking and getting to know each other.

Overall, it was a quick read with characters I liked and I’m eager to see who the next book will be about.

Jackson is shocked when he's left with a newborn. Ranching with a tiny baby is beyond difficult and he needs help. Enter Savannah. Her life became unbearable after her divorce. Life in a small town where your ex is well-known and has influence cut her out of a job, so the nanny position with room and board is perfect.

Neither Jackson nor Savannah expect the immediate intense attraction they feel as soon as they lay eyes on each other. Savannah is nursing some self-esteem issues, and Jackson is itching to show her exactly how a man should treat a woman!

Acting on their attraction is ill-advised, and if anything goes wrong living together would be awkward at best. But you know this is a romance, so of course they're going to go there!

Whew, this was a hot little number, but this wasn't all about sex. We get Jackson and Savannah's history giving depth to this short story making it a sweet and satisfying read.

The reader, Suzanne Elise Freeman was fine.

A sweet comfortably predictable little read/listen.
I liked that despite both being emotionally stunted from their childhoods, they learned how to love together.

Jackson and his brothers have never had good experience with love. A neglectful selfish father, a series of short-term stepmothers and (for Jackson) a stream of ONs. But he hasn't had a date in months, not since a ONs from a year ago dropped off his little bundle of Joy, Lily.
Savannah was desperate to leave a small town ruled by her first husband's family (well his mother really). Emotionally scarred by her marriage she believes herself 'unsexy'. With no money from the divorce and her job opportunities stymied she is grateful to work as a live in nanny for Jackson and Lily.
It's a short read/listen, so that's about it. Just two people unlucky in love and not really believing in it, accidentally finding it together. There a bit of push and pull from Jackson but it isn't overmuch because the story is too short for that.

Safety is all good

A little time with Yates's cowboys...is always time well spent. I enjoyed Mail Order Cowboy. It was a sweet little novella.

The Gist: Jackson? Well he's an overwhelmed new (single) daddy in need of some help. So he orders himself a nanny. Mmhm. He sure does. And whoboy does that shake things up on the home front.

I enjoyed Jackson and Savannah. They're a decent sort and easy to like. Both doing what they can when they find themselves in new situations and starting over-- her leaving her entire life behind after divorce, him finding out he had a baby when it's mom abandoned her on his doorstep.

It was fun seeing them settling into life together in his small cabin. Sorting out feelings and what they wanted. Her taking care of the baby and him getting back to ranch work and coming home to them. It was an easy read but not all that fleshed out. I would have loved to see a bit more of the romance happening and time with the baby.

All in all, it was a nice, sweet read just fairly light on plot and such. A good time killer, though, if you're waiting for an appointment.

Jackson Reid is a rancher who likes his bachelor lifestyle and doesn't plan to change it. But one night, a pretty woman he recognize as one of the numerous one-night stand he had knock on his door and drop on his arms a bundle of blankets with a baby in it and turn around and run.

Three months later, the new single dad is waiting for the woman who answered his add for a live-in nanny to arrive in Gold Valley. He still have to handle these new feelings he have and can't find words to describe what he feels for this little girl who altered his life but he knows he wants to do right by his daughter. What he doesn't know yet is that in needing to get away from her ex-husband and the small community where he was the star and accepting to live with him and Lily, Savannah will become an other disruption in his life.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record, but since this is a novella, the romance was a little too quick to be believable. I needed a little more background and to know more about the MC's personality to really feel invested in their story. I liked the plot so I'm sure with more pages to fully develop the story it would have been an excellent book. But I must say I'm really pissed that Savannah quitted her job and didn't complete her contract or at least waited to find a substitute nanny for little Lily before going away when things started to go wrong between her and Jackson.

But look at this cover, isn't it adorable ?

Mail Order Cowboy features an incredibly sweet romance with a great group of characters and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Jackson Reid enjoys all life has to offer in the small town of Gold Valley which includes him with a new woman each night. When a past one-night stand shows up and hands him a baby she claims is his, his entire life changes. While Jackson adores his daughter, he knows when to admit he’s over his head and sets about hiring a nanny pronto. Savannah Sturm is happy for any position that gets her out of the town her ex-husband’s family owns half of and expects the nanny job to be just the thing to turn her life around. What neither of them expected or prepared for was the intense and immediate attraction between them.

Jackson didn’t grow up with the best role model for relationships as his father married four times. Eventually Jackson came to rely on himself and stopped looking for a mother figure in his life. Jackson’s relationships with women ultimately devolved into just one-night stands as he doesn’t trust anyone to love him enough to stay. He plans to avoid a revolving door of women in Lily’s life and hopes to give her a better childhood than he had.

Savannah grew up knowing her mother and father hated each other and vowed never to have a marriage like theirs. When she met her husband, she believed she avoided her greatest fear only for her marriage to fall apart. Savannah has quite a few issues due to the way her ex-husband treated her and doesn’t see herself finding love again. Savannah just wants to finally do what she wants for once and hopes to slowly get her life back on track.

Jackson and Savannah’s relationship moves very quickly in this book with the events in the book taking place in about a month’s time. The two have an immediate attraction to one another and their chemistry is off the charts. While I bought into the physical side of their relationship, I had a bit of a hard time believing the emotional side due to the speed at which everything occurs. If the book had been a bit longer I think I would have enjoyed it more as the relationship would have time to develop more.

Mail Order Cowboy covers a lot in just under 100 pages, but I think the book would have benefitted from being longer. Overall I’m always happy to get a look into the world Maisey Yates has created and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Gold Valley series.

**This novella was included as a bonus story in Untamed Cowboy, which I received an advance copy of from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**

Jackson Reid copes the best he can with a surprise baby and hires a nanny by mail, expecting her to be tall and plain as described....only to find her beautiful, kind and mentally scarred by her ex-husband.
The pair heal each other in a sweet western romance set on his family's ranch.

I read this novella at the end of Untamed Cowboy and I really enjoyed it! Savannah and Jackson were great together! I loved reading about them and also liked that it was a short story that worked out in the end. Also, just because it was a quick read doesn’t mean that it wasn’t packed with heat!

This was an extremely cute and steamy quick read. Definitely worth a read!

I’ve been reading a lot of horror and mystery/thriller books as of late and I needed something light as a refresher. I know I’m going to have a good time when I pick up something by Maisey Yates and this one was no exception.

Here’s what’s going on. Jackson’s been content with a series of one-night stands until it finally catches up with him. Now he’s a single father of a bouncing baby girl. Knowing he needs help, he hires a nanny. Savannah’s looking for a new start far away from her ex-husband and the town that adores him so becoming a nanny is the perfect escape. Although she never thought that Jackson would make her feel things she never felt before and Jackson never imagined he’d be able to fall for just one woman.

So, I’ve had this one for a bit. Apparently, I received it for then forgot about it. Sadly, that happens from time to time. I found it when I was cleaning up my Kindle and it was the perfect time to read it.

I really liked Jackson and Savannah. They both had problems they needed to overcome: thanks to her husband, Savannah believes she’s ‘frigid’ in the bedroom and Jackson has abandonment issues, which has caused him to be afraid of settling down.

Overall, this one was enjoyable but there could have been more to it. I would have liked to see more about their relationship and more interaction with baby. I don’t think it was as fleshed out as it could have been.

Presenting you another book in the single dad romance trope . It has pretty sweet romance but I just felt that yes the kid was there but author could have just given the kid part more focus or showed more dynamic it added to the main characters relationship. It involves the main guy who ends with a kid one fine day and after a few months trying to handle it on his own with his brothers and sister he tries getting a nanny . The main girl is from a different city betrayed by her husband and feeling as if no one in the town was on her side she decides to moves to this small town and make some good use of her children welfare degree. All in all Maisey Yates is a master story tell and you don't feel bored at any point of tie. So this book is part of the Gold Valley series and opened me up to many other characters whose stories I was super excited to read and did end up reading after this one.

I have said this before with other novellas that I read, which was what this story was, but my biggest problem was the length of the story especially with this one. As I was reading this story in particular that I felt like this could have easily been a full length novel and a perfect compliment to the Gold Valley series. I wished it was because there were just so many elements set up the story that could have been developed over the pages and create a complete story without the rushed pacing. In fact I wished all the Reid brother’s had their own books instead of just itty bitty novellas because I see all type of potential there. I know if this book was a full length I would have given it a higher review because all the making of Jackson and Savannah’s romance were there. It was just the pacing issues that I had an issue with. It was way too quick from them getting together and the “I love yous” exchanged. I like my development and anticipating building during a story not rushed through.

With that being said, this was one of the better novellas that I have read. I really enjoyed the setup in this story of Jackson learning him being a father of an adorable little girl after a one night stand with the mother and totally being out of his depth needed help. That was where Savannah came in, who was a teacher and had recently become divorce and needing to get away answered Jackson’s ad for a live in nanny. And as soon as they met sparks flew between them, but there was a little bit of the forbidden fruit quality to the story as they tried to keep it professional between them, which was fun.

But what really stood out for me about this novella was the fact that there were deeper issues that were into play and explored little bit as Jackson and Savannah became more involved in the story. I really appreciated that because a lot of times issues like each of them had would be glossed over due to the fact of being constrained for time and just sticking to the story in hand. This story dealt with Savannah’s insecurity from her marriage while Jackson was dealing with abandonment issues from the past from love ones. There’s a little bit of depth there and made their relationship deeper as they dealt with these issues together. The intimacy that was created there was really good just wish there was more along the way.

They had some very nice passionate scenes together, which I wasn’t expecting. I knew there would be some, but I thought there were going to shortened because this was a novella, but they weren’t and it really showed off their connection both mentally and physically and just how much they were beginning to care about one another and create a relationship together. They really were becoming a family.

Also it was a nice touch to add a little nod to the Copper Ridge series especially mentioning the original couples featured in the the first two books in that series. That gave me a little chuckle and I smiled at the mention of them and their kids and the fact they are still living happily ever after.

Aside from wishing that this was in fact a full length novel for more development and less rushed pacing, I really enjoyed the romance of Savannah and Jackson. A lot more than I was expecting. I think it had to do with the fact that there was emotional issues explored a bit and how it brought them together to form a closer relationship and develop more intimacy to them as a couple. I just really liked them together and I know if more time allowed than I would have absolutely loved this story even more.

I’m curious to see the other two novellas in the Reid brothers series, I can already tell that I am going to want them to be full length novels instead of novellas especially Tanner’s story. That is going to be an interesting one from what I can tell. We will see how the other novellas fair compare to this one.

At under 100 pages, this is a super quick read. That doesn’t take away from the story at all though. I really enjoyed this book and was rooting for Savannah and Jackson from the start. They were both just amazing people and deserved to be happy.

I know there are quite a few people out there that don’t read the .5 books in a series because they tend to be shorter and therefore have instalove. Believe it or not, this story did not feel like an instalove story. Part of that is the way the author wrote the passage of time. This story covers a few months. There are time jumps, but it doesn’t seem forced and I never felt as though I was missing out on anything.

I know I’ve said it for the last two books in this series, Cowboy Christmas Blues and Smooth Talking Cowboy, but I’ll say it again. I’m glad I decided to start purchasing Maisey Yates’ books instead of going on the library waiting lists. She is just a phenomenal writer who gives me all the feels.

Jackson Reid is in shock when a woman he had a one-off hands him a baby girl and tells him she's his. After weeks of trying to keep doing his work and take care of the infant, he hires a nanny--by internet--in hopes her presence will make his life easier, if not like it used to be.

But the so-called "tall and plain" woman is beautiful and although he vows to keep his hands and other part off her, that plan goes away when she finally admits what her divorced husband said of her. Jackson knows it's not true, but when he shows her how wrong, Savannah Sturm does what Jackson never intended.

When she declares she loves him, he panics and declares he doesn't feel the same. He brothers and sister know he's totally wrong, but how is he going to fix this? The title of this story should have been something like Internet-Found Nanny, but that wouldn't have fit with the series it's part of, my only quibble with this cute story.

Jackson wasn't looking for a baby when an ex dropped off his daughter 3 months ago and split. But he is looking for a nanny to help him now.

Savannah is looking to get out of dodge so to speak and away from her ex husband and his entire brigade of followers. Answering Jackson's ad came at the perfect time to start over.

Jackson and Savannah blend quickly with Lily into their version of a family. She quickly realizes she is in love with Jackson and he with her though he is deathly afraid to admit that. He believes nothing good comes from loving someone (other than his daughter), an example shown by his late father.

Can Savannah show Jackson how great their live can be together?

This Gold Valley novella is sold as ebook but also in the back of Untamed Cowboy. It is a quick read but not lacking in love, denial, family instigating and HEA. Another gem from Maisey Yates.

Savannah Sturm is stunned when she sees the tall good-looking cowboy carrying a pink baby carrier heading her way in the airport. She realizes he is the man she will be woking for and fantasizing about. She told Jackson Reid that she was tall and plain but he sees a beautiful leggy blonde. He has to keep their relationship professional as she is hired to be his daughter’s nanny but it is going to be hard.

Jackson is known as the town man whore and he's never met a woman he hasn't had. Keeping his hands off Savannah is testing him and finally he gives in. Even though others see him as a hard man, he is soft when his baby was foisted off on him when he was unaware he had fathered a child. Savannah had been hurt in her marriage and made to feel worthless but Jackson showed her otherwise.

Decent short novella. Jackson Reid has abandonment issues leading him to not want to bring a woman permanently into his and his baby daughter's life only to watch her leave them. Savannah Strom has self-esteem issues after five years of marriage to a self-centered man who apparently sucked in bed and left her believing it was her fault. Both were the usual Maisey Yates compelling likable characters that you wanted to root for getting their H.E.A. And being a novella it all happens pretty quickly. And kudos to Maisey for including a certain Copper Ridge B&B and a little update on it's owners in this story for those of us who are long time fans of that earlier series.

Jackson is a hunky rancher, loving the ladies and loving life. A knock at his door changes everything. How is a confirmed bachelor supposed to take care of an unexpected baby. The easy solution is hire a nanny.

Savannah needs a new beginning. Answering the ad for a live in nany is the perfect answer. She can escape her past with a new beginning in a new place. Her only concern was taking care of Lily.

Watching Jackson paddle down the river of denial was so much fun. Seeing Savannah's walls start to crumble was thrilling. The best was when she stood up for herself. What happens next is up to Jackson.

Mail Order Cowboy 4.5/5 Stars!

I really loved this novella! Fast, Simple, and Sweet. I read it in one sitting while waiting for things to get finished around the house. It was a fun story, that had some very touching moments. One of my favorite things about this author is how she writes her character for her novellas. I have a hard time getting attached to characters in 100 pages or less, but with a Maisey Yates novel, I fall for the characters every time.

Can't wait to read more in the series!!

Nice short novella, part of the Gold Vally series but written as a stand-alone. Savannah has been hired as a live in nanny by Jackson. He has only had Lily for a couple of months, her mother stopped by Jackson’s ranch and left Lily with him. Savannah was divorced 8 months before starting to work for Jackson. She thinks of herself as plain and frigid because that is what her ex-husband told her. Jackson sets out to show her this is not true. They both think that they can keep things professional and still sleep with each other.

Pickup transformed yo car

Lets face it, I am a huge fan of Maiden Yates. I am a bit harsh in my ratings . Thus only four stars, I have given her five for some of her books. This is a good story. It is a novels and short less than a hundred pages, so everything happens quickly. I would have liked some parts developed and expanded. But that is wanting more of a good thing. The male protagonist picked his female counterpart at the airport and she got of a car. Still a good story and highly recommended.

Taking a chance on love

Finding he's a new father with the mother of his baby no where in sight, Jackson hires a live in nanny.
But the beautiful woman who takes the job isn't what he expected, including the instant attraction.
Can a hard working, hard loving cowboy trust this beautiful woman to take care of his heart? A short read with a steady pace to an HEA. As always, Yates writes an engaging love story.

Absolutely love this series.Jackson grew up thinking no one stayed so, he would not let himself love until, one night a baby got dropped in his arms and its Mother left. Savannah grew up in loveless home and went to loveless marriage. After he cheated they divorced and she answered ad for Nanny to baby girl. Turns out that she was just what Jackson and Lily needed as ell as he was what she needed.

I really enjoyed Savannah and Jackson's story. Jackson is unprepared when a woman shows up at his door with a baby, and she says she can't deal with it and runs off. Jackson posts an ad for a nanny and Savannah answers. She works out great until Jackson can't keep his hands off her. She falls hard and he has to think fast. Strong characters and good story line.

Good story

This is a good story that would have been a great story if the author had a better editor, 32 word sentences with varied verb tenses can be avoided. They make the author sound like an excited teen instead of an experienced writer, However, even with grammar issues, this book is worth reading. Even while shaking my head, I enjoyed the story.
