New World Order was a fabulous conclusion to the Sunset Rising Trilogy! This world was harsh, brutal and unforgiving and the story could be so dark and twisted at times. Yet friendship and love shined brightly and I was completely invested in this series. In this final book we got to alternate between Sunny and Jack, which I absolutely loved. And because of that, we got to see how friends became enemies, lies were hidden under the radar, and we found out exactly who we could trust. Some of it was very surprising! So here are some of my favorite things about this book...
✮ Friendship
Friendship played such an important role in this series. Between the Pits, Alliance, Bourge, The Nation and Ryder's people there was a vast group and racism was prevalent. So I loved watching how friendships helped bridge the gaps and unite some of them at times. Like the team that was formed to go rescue Jack. It was an unlikely group whose dynamics were fascinating to watch. Especially since there was some changes as the story progressed and I was surprised that my opinion even changed towards some of the characters. By the end of the book, I loved that tentative friendships were formed, another was patched up and a new and heartfelt friendship was created. While there was obstacles in their way, it was amazing to watch all the friendships unfold.
✮ A story that continued to grow
I felt that this series had the best of both worlds. While characters were the heart, the soul was the way the story unfolded. There were a lot of moving parts and when you throw in some fabulous twists and turns, it made this story even more addicting. I had sweaty palms and learned that you should always go with your gut. Even if you want to believe otherwise. It was fascinating to watch how deception and lies could tweak this story and I loved that I didn't see some of it coming. On top of all of that, there was fighting and political unrest happening. I wondered how it could all end up right, but just watch. Because it was brilliant.
✮ Inherent darkness
While dystopians usually have a darkness or bleak feel to them, the issues in this series were one that I could easily see in a scary, possible future. Bigotry, slavery, sexism and racism bled from the pages. Hundreds of years later and we were still fighting about the same issues. And some of those issues would go down such a dark path that I found myself hoping certain people would die. Their actions were beyond horrific and some of it was even hard to stomach. There were a few moments I just wanted to cover my eyes, but I had to keep reading. And while some justice was served that made me shout out loud yes, I have hope that even more will take place in the future spin-off series.
✮ True Love
If you love romance in your books, you're in for a treat with this series. It was forbidden and filled with the best tension. And when it finally turned into more, my heart was soaring and oh so happy. In this final book we saw exactly how strong Sunny and Jack's love was for each other. The lengths they would go to for one another was beautiful, and they are cemented as one of my favorite couples ever.
This series will always have a special place in my heart. I cried tears of sadness and happiness, smiled, laughed and fell more in love with these characters. Plus it wrapped up in such a fabulous way that made so happy. Yet I love that there is so much to cover in a spin-off series and I can't wait till it's released! So if you love forbidden romance or dystopian then definitely add this series to your tbr. I absolutely loved it and I'm look forward to reading everything else S.M. McEachern writes!

✮ Friendship
“How dare you judge me!”My hand itched to slap him. “While you were busy moping around pissed off at the world, my bourge husband and I were outside the Dome risking our lives to find a way to open the doors so the Pit could go free.”
Reyes stood up straighter and looked down his nose at me. “You did open the doors, Sunny,”he said calmly. “And then you just walked away.”

He stood and held his hand out to me, and as I laced my fingers through his, I remembered the first time I’d ever placed my hand in his, a year ago, when we’d decided to take on the Holt regime. It filled me with as much strength now as it had then.

What a perfect ending to an amazing story! The words flowed and my imagination danced along the pace of my reading, and the action was perfectly displayed. I'm not usually a fan of multiple point of views unless that's how it was intended from the first book, but in this case, I thought it was necessary and more than welcome on my part. I wanted to know more of both parties, not just Sunny's side, and felt empathetic of both her and Jack. Every question was answered, every doubt was elucidated, and finally, I was left feeling content. Hungover, sure, but that's the sign it was a brilliant story!
Here's my checklist of why I think New World Order was an incredible conclusion to the Sunset Rising trilogy:
My expectations have more than been met, and I'm so glad that even though the trilogy's finale has been concluded, the story is open for more to come. Whose story will we hear of next? I've got my predictions, but I'd be happy to just dive deeper into this dystopian world through any character(s)!
In conclusion, the Sunset Rising trilogy is a well thought out, credible, and strongly fabricated dystopian novel, with a powerful romance that will keep you on your toes. The grammar is on point, and such a solid story deserves to be praised! Five stars to New World Order, as well as its previous sisters, Sunset Rising and Worlds Collide. Marvellous!

This has been a fun series. I made the mistake of waiting far too long between books 2 and 3 (my memory is terrible) so this book started off with my trying to remember who everyone is. It's a common problem for me, so I should know better than to wait, when a book is available.
Soon enough though all the characters become familiar again, with all their flaws and hurts and skills and things to appreciate. We of course get to meet a few new people in this one, while also getting to know some better from previous books. Sometimes there are characters we don't like, until the author says just the right thing, then they aren't so bad after all. I liked the addition of the little girl, whose name I can't remember (see above re: memory).
One of the cool things about this series is the combination of high technology (e.g. nanotech) and primitive living, and the contrasts between several societies living differently in the world. I wouldn't have minded seeing a bit more of the technology in fact, but mostly it was carry-over from the previous book. However there is a new setting that is kind of interesting.
Because I live in the U.S. this book actually reminds me a bit of our current political situation, in which there are two main sides, each very convinced of their righteousness. (I am just as guilty, and just as right. :-P) It would be easy to see this not working out in the end, so one has to wonder if/how they are ever going to resolve their differences in this story. You'll have to read to find out, of course.

Satisfying ending to a solid post apocalyptic series. I really got into this one by the end of the first book. This book was by far the best. 4 stars.

This was kind of anticlimactic. I expected more from the last book of this trilogy. A lot of things remained unresolved and I'm gonna have to read the spin-off series, which hasn't been published yet. :D
Three quarters of the book were about the rescue mission and it could've been shorter and focused more on the problems in the city. That was dealt with only in the last part of the book and got too little space and felt quite hurried.
Also - we got Jack's POV. Just like the last book of Divergent series. :D I don't like it when this happens, I'd rather either have both POVs from the beginning or just have Sunny's for the whole series.

Sunny and Jack have finally achieved their dream – the people from the Dome have been freed and now are living, if they choose, on Earth once more.
However, it hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine. There is an uneasy and fragile truce between the Bourge and the Urchin, neither willing to forget and forgive past transgressions.
Then Sunny’s world is rocked by the unimaginable, Jack is kidnapped and taken by raiders – his life and all of theirs are now in jeopardy. But that is not the end of it, Sunny has just found that she is pregnant, a child borne of Bourge and Urchin. You think this would unite them all as one people. Yet as Sunny and a small group embark on a mission to find and rescue Jack, she will discover that there are plots and atrocities in motion which are beyond her control.
Some members of the newly elected government have chosen this time to make sure that the other side will be ended once and for all. If that wasn’t enough, some members of the Bourge have also enacted a plan to follow Sunny and make sure that Jack isn’t rescued and does not come back alive.

It’s sad but understandable that two peoples who have suffered so much cannot find it in their hearts to forgive and move on for a chance at a better life. But with what they all went through, sometimes some grievances are too much to expect someone to forgive and forget, justice and retribution will need to prevail.

We were dropped into a cliffhanger at the end of book 2, WORLD'S COLLIDE, and I couldn't wait to see how Sunny would handle getting Jack back while also dealing with the news she received in the last few pages. It's a bit hard to write this review because I don't want to give anything away, but there is still things I would love to talk about.
Sunny and Jack were never supposed to be together, but their love is strong and it's clear they were meant for each other. No matter what Sunny thought, there is still a lot of tension and prejudiced between the former pit and dome residents. She slowly came to realize the issues throughout NEW WORLD ORDER and once she saves Jack things kinda blow up on that front. I don't think the blow up was as big as it could have been, and watching her and Jack work together to resolve the conflict instead of one or the other doing it on their own brought it all together in the end and showed how much each of them have grown since book 1.
The characters were great, the storyline was easy to follow, flowed nicely and kept me wanting more. There was a nice mix of action, romance and suspense. This trilogy started great and ended great, but I still want more! I thought the trilogy ended really well, but I still feel there is so much to explore and I am sad that this is the end. If you're looking for a new dystopian series to fall into, this is it!

Jack Kenner has been taken and Sunny will go to hell if she has to, to get him back home.
Jack is prisoner and on his way to become a slave of a lunatic.
Sunny finds out that her friends are keeping something from her and that sometimes it’s hard to see who your enemies are.
I actually liked Reyes in this book and I hope we get to hear his story to.
Jack and Sunny were not supposed to get married, they were not supposed to become friends, they were not supposed to change history but love conquers all.
For me that is the most beautiful form this series the way their love developed, I love how Jack thinks about Sunny or how he talks to her, I love that Sunny will do anything for Jack. That is true love and sappy as it sounds I need books like this with hope and love. The world building is interesting and well done. I like the different groups and their take on life. The characters have grown trough the books.

4.5 stars... Only because there were some SciFi developments in this book that felt a bit convenient and not well developed BUT I didn't really care so I'm glad we didn't get into a long dissertation supporting this sudden tech advancement. In my unimportant opinion, I think getting into that would have detracted from the plot anyway. Speaking of, after that last cliffhanger in book 2, the plot intrigue was entertaining and all the twists and turns were great. Even though Sunset's story-line may be over I'm glad there will be more books from this series. There's too many characters with potential to explore. I look forward to reading about Reyes, Haley, Willow, Ted... and maybe some peripheral Kenner details. Thoroughly enjoyed the series.

A Great Wrap Up
I've enjoyed the story of the people of the Pit in their struggle against the despots who live in luxury above them. Though many of the privileged have no inkling of the suffering of those whose labors enable their luxurious lifestyle, when a few who discover the truth do, they are willing to act. Even with the help of the free-living survivors of a nuclear holocast, can a band combined of Pit and Dome rebels battle the religious zealot who thinks his way is the only way? And it they win, will the threat of another nuclear war stop humanity's struggle to live?
This is the end of an exciting, well-conceived series. I recommend it to all who enjoy post apocalyptic fiction.

So sorry this one did not hold my attention. Did not have the same excitement and ugency as the first two. The change of voices between Jack and Sunny sort of confused me. I had to look back to see who was telling it. So I did not finish it, got more than a third of the way, but just found myself not involved anymore. But would recommend the first two books in this series.

Hope for the future
I found this series thinking I would read something a little different. I certainly did. The story throughout the three books grew to be the kind that makes you stay up all night to finish. I just had to get to the next book. And now I'm sad to know that it's over. At least for now.

I hope it's not the end....
The new world is very complex and rather stunning. S. M. McEachern has a way with her words that bring the new world before your eyes and still keep the character development moving forward. You think with this book being the third in the trilogy that there won’t be too much new explore or discover about characters but I was wrong. Each character becomes bigger and more complex. It almost makes the secondary characters on the same level as the leads. I think that Sunny, Jack and Reyes should each have their own full length book and Summer, Ted, Doc should have novella’s. Still so much to discover, understand and love about this world.
I have been a huge fan of this series right from the start and still am today. I will recommend it to anyone and everyone. Thank you for a great conclusion this this trilogy though I hope it is not the conclusion to this ‘New World’ you have created.

What I liked:
A great final book about those suppressed in the Pit striving to overthrow those who stop and bring about a better world for all that what more than what the bourge has planned for this world. This is a well-thought-out series that builds on each novel, and even though this is the final book, the author tells us there are more stories to come set in this world and that she knows there is more to explore beyond these three books.
The added sci-fi technology in this third felt a little out of place since we don't see any hint of it in the first books, but it did work to move the story along in these three book. A great final book about those suppressed in the Pit striving to overthrow those who stop and bring about a better world for all that what more than what the bourge has planned for this world. This is a well-thought-out series that builds on each novel, and even though this is the final book, the author tells us there are more stories to come set in this world and that she knows there is more to explore beyond these three books.
The added sci-fi technology in this third felt a little out of place since we don't see any hint of it in the first books, but it did work to move the story along in these three book. The uniqueness of this series makes for an exciting adventure as we follow the story of jack and sunny from the Pit, a bourge rising together to forge a better path.

I started reading this series and could not put it down. It’s all to easy to see the world we know disintegrating with only a small number saved and all to easy to see a new and harsh world split into haves and have nots. It does seem to be something we do quite often with tragic results. Split between the Pit and the privileges who live above them and as a direct result of their labours. Summer is the proverbial match to the powder keg.
When the wedding to the heir apparent falls apart and they are both on the run she’s the one who is able to save him by taking him down into the pit with her. A resistance grows and she’s the natural leader. It does help that the world outside has become livable again. But only with the knowledge and science from the ‘ruling order.’

Another trilogy that I really enjoyed reading! It had some mature content but never really detailed so I feel it’s for a little more mature/older teen book. This book was not necessarily slow in the first half but I feel that the last forth of the book was rushed and kinda ended really quickly. I am thankful I got an ending I liked and the story ended nicely- but super rushed! (Like forget the details and pop, pop, pop, done and 10 page tie it up happy ending! Even with that said I still loved it but I’d like either a little less from the rescue mission and/or more of the takeover and new beginnings side! I think maybe she left it semi open for more books if she wanted to add later on.

I really liked this entire series and would recommend as a must read! I liked the first two books more then this one. This one I felt focused too long on the journey of the rescue. Sunny and Jack are better together!..instead of separated although I liked the two perspectives. The " super hero" suits and the invisibility cape were a little much for me! I wish there was more Dome/ Pit action. Sad they don't have anymore books.

It did that YA thing where it traded off chapters between two perspectives. Though stereotypical in places, it introduced some unique ideas on what might happen 300 years after the world was destroyed by nuclear war. I especially enjoyed the portrayal of different societies that might emerge in such a case. Not a bad way to end a trilogy.

Great series.
This series is different from the same old, same old books. I saw where some compared it to The Hunger Games. I get that but do not think this mimics The Hunger Games. I definitely recommend this series.
There were a few lose ends (fate of a few characters) I would have loved to read at the end of Sunset Rising Book 3. Can't seem to find if there will be a book 4.

3 stars because I love the series. But this really wasn't an amazing end to the trilogy. It felt very rushed at the end, and the whole part with Sunny and Jack being separated just kind of sucked. I like them together and working together.

What a great ending to the series! This series is definitely underrated and I will recommend it to everyone! Thankfully the gruesome themes from the first book were mostly absent in book 2 and 3.

Cannot handle rape. Just the thought that it was just thrown in there took the adventure away. It was hard enough in the first book. Couldn't finish it. Got depressing. :(

Awesome ending to a trilogy that was fast paced. The storyline is fantastic and will keep you wanting more til the very last page. I highly recommend this trilogy to all readers.

Taken by recruiters ( slavers ), a pregnant Sunny (O'Donnell) Kenner is determined to hunt for Jack and three of the "Nation's" Protectors - Naoki, Talon and Ryan- even if it means tracking them to the compound of New Canon in the south. With the help of Doc's hi-tech and the team of Summer, Jin-Sook, the scout Eli and Reyes, Sunny sets out across the wilds of the post-apocalyptic countryside. As Jack struggles to stay alive enduring the inhumanity and atrocities of the slavers, Sunny will take a journey that has her not only contending with hostility within her team, but an assault by a bourge rescue party who want to prevent her and the Senator from returning.

I am absolutely honored to have been able to beta read this series. It's been a wild ride from start to finish, and I don't think I've ever been so satisfied with the end of a trilogy before. Everything was tied up very nicely, but it was still open ended enough that we can have more side stories.
We pick up right where book two left off, with Sunny on her way in search of Jack. The dual point of view threw me off a few times, but I got used to it pretty quickly, and it worked really well in this case. A lot of times I'll read a book with dual POV and it's literally just telling the same thing that just happened but from someone else's view. Here, Jack and Sunny are apart, so we don't get the same story rehashed, it's two separate events so it worked really well. I don't think I could have survived the entire book through Sunny's eyes without knowing what was going on with Jack.
There were a few moments with Jack where I just wanted to shake him, specifically when he was digging the holes and he didn't realize what they were for. Maybe that was just me, though? But I mean, when your "saviors" tell you you're working in detention, then you are surrounded by holes with grates on top, what do you expect them to be for? I love you, Jack, but sometimes your problem solving skills need work. But that's where Sunny comes in. That's one thing I loved. With Jack and Sunny apart, you really get to see how they complete each other. They both mention it on a few occasions, and it's just really important how they work together.
I'm really happy that Reyes turned out to be a decent human being. He pissed me off so much in the first book, and although he was annoying here, at least he was justified. I'm so happy for that because I didn't want to hate him just because he was Sunny's ex, and that's kind of what happened. So it's good to know he redeemed himself and grew up. Wonderful character development.
There were a few points in Jack's POV where I was a bit bored and found myself skimming. It mostly happened when they were on the road towards Ryder's compound because a lot of that seemed the same. They wanted to escape, but had no means, they were being starved and given little water, and Jack just kept trying to figure out how to get out of the mess he was in, but couldn't. It was realistic enough, but I had to stop myself from jumping around for something more exciting.
Part of me wishes there was more of a conclusion to the conflict with Ryder, but I understand that wasn't the point of the story as a whole and why it was left the way it was. I'm curious to know if we'll hear about that arc in some of the side stories that were mentioned.
I'd really love to reread the entire series now, start to finish. I'm sure I've missed a few things and would just love to see how the three books connect together, especially because little time has passed (story wise) between each book. This was such a great way to end this trilogy and I'm just so satisfied with everything. I absolutely recommend this to everyone.

Seriously a great book to end this series. At first, whsn I started reading, I wasn't really sure where it could go and honestly was a little scared that it might fall to "third-book" syndrome. That's where the first two books are really good but the third book is only good for only the first half because the author doesn't know how to end the series. Well, this author certainly knew what she was doing!
Great series and great ending, and truthfully this was probably my favorite book of the series. It reminded me a little of the Uglies series since a lot more technology is found in this book versus the first two. But the plot is different than the Uglies series, so if you didn't like those books, there's still a good chance you'll like these ones.
Since this is the last book I'll make this review a bit longer.

Some books have really long, stretched-out endings that are just plain annoying but this one ended in the best way possible, and then had a little extra "four-months-later" bit. Although I'd really like to know the name of a certain character who still resides in someone's tummy, I was happy with the ending.
And the story line! Oh my goodness! This book had even more action than the other two (at least by my memory, I could be wrong). Not as much romance, but there's an obvious reason for that. There's also lots of adventure and new ideas and settings that are described and explained wonderfully. The characters do a lot of exploring, kind of, in this book, which tells the reader even more about the world they live in.
All in all, great book and thanks to Vook for my eBook copy of this, although my views and opinions were not skewed by anyone. I genuinely loved this series and hope to get it in paperback or hardcover for my library (actually though it's just a bookcase in the corner of my room).
