Hunters, demons, magic, and so much come together to create one fascinating book in this start to a new series. It starts with some incredible world building while introducing us to Sharon a hunter. Her life changes forever when she meets three special demons which causes chaos and a story you can't put down. If you are looking for a fast burn fantasy reverse harem novel then you should really try this one. I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
This one has been sitting on my shelf for awhile now and I'm glad I finally picked it up. Immediately I loved the way it started : “Concealing a murder is far more difficult than most people could possibly imagine.” All I could think was "Yes, please go on, I'm hooked". And everything happened so fast after that! It was all I could do to keep up. A lot of what I've read was confusing, but all of it was intriguing and nicely written. But the last three chapters? I'm pretty sure I've read those with my mouth hanging open. So many bombs dropped, my head was spinning. But on the downside, it all happened so fast that only after I finished the book did I realized how much has been missing from the story. I know that it's only the first book, so maybe we'll tackle those things later, but for now we don't really know all that much about the characters. There were so many references to the MC's past, but nothing was really explained. And the guys' personalities is a complete mystery to me. Aside from their names, I saw no distinction between the brothers.
So, even though I enjoyed the story while I was reading it, when it was over I was left with a lot of unanswered questions. I will, however, continue reading when the next book comes out.
I really wanted to like this book. The storyline was interesting. It started out great and I was loving it and then the raunchy sex was thrown in. I don’t mind sex but it was to early in the book. (she hadn’t even spoken to her harem yet, just saw them in passing for a few minutes) It was not steamy sexy sex it just made me cringe and skip the rest of the sex scene.
One thing I didn’t like was the MC doesn’t like what is going on and is confused & tells the harem no to having sex at one point. The one ‘husband demon’ says “You’re telling me you don’t want this?” Pinches her nipple. Then says “You wore this just to drive us crazy.” (She was in a see through tank and some shorts.) She doesn’t say anything or move and they tell her they are going to make love to her and she is going to love every second of it. When a girl says no you don’t still touch her and then say it’s cause of her clothes. Especially when you later find out the MC has been raped in the past & the demon kings sister had been raped.
You don’t really learn anything about the history of the characters, their thoughts or emotions. The base storyline caught my attention and was very interesting but it was just the bare minimum and was more about the sex. (Anal almost every time and I don’t like anal)
I was sadly very disappointed in this book and was hoping for more depth and story.

Well I really think this could have been great the premise was really interesting but it fell short because smut was the focus instead of the story line. This happens a lot and I would expect would be super difficult to accurately convey a story and have some smut in just 150 pages.
So we start off with Sharon, a demon hunter extraordinaire who happens to be an instructor.. During a routine investigation through a demon world one of her students is a T total jerkwad and leaves behind a personal item of hers trying to set up another student so he can steal his girl..... Eye Roll* What ensues afterward is a confusing hotmess with a lot of smut, insta love, impossible things happening, everyone is a liar type scenario. Im not really all about coincidences in stories... you know where the hero or heroine step off in something and bam all of a sudden a coincidence happens that allows them out... I feel like more planning and setting up "coincidences" can be avoided. This book had a lot of those coincidences...
Just ok for me, not sure I'll dive into the rest of the series as it just seems a little shallow at this point, and too short to really form any solid opinions for me.
I really tried to like this. I gave it the benefit of the doubt but I was really just not feeling it.
The premise of the story is cool and I get that it's short but there was no substance to the story. I wanted to like Sharen. She had some character, a backstory, real life issues, and the beginning made me want to know more about her. Unfortunately all I got was a harem of attractive but shallow demons that came into this strong (albeit vulnerable) woman's life and started taking control. "We're your husbands now." "We're gonna fuck you now." "You're gonna love it."
That was them, summed up in three sentences. They did nothing to enhance this woman's life and I can't think of a single quality that would endear them to me. And I'm a big fan of reverse harem, but to just throw a harem together out of nowhere. Why? Makes no sense.
Sharen is a bad-a** demon-hunter. One of the best hunters and instructors. When she’s accidentally tied to three powerful demons, she expects to send them immediately back to their realm. Instead, she connects with them! There’s more to these three men than she ever dreamed of and that they might hold the secrets to her best friend’s death. But in order to discover the truth, she will have to bond herself to them and this one choice will change her life forever.
This is an entertaining RH novella. It's fast-paced and there is good world building. Sharon is a worthy lead female. For someone who has just lost her best friend and whose world is upended, she stays level-headed and strong. The insta-love/lust connection works and the guys are likable. There's a bit of a cliffhanger leaving you ready for the next part of the story!
This story has some very interesting concepts. Demon Hunters have to be young, because after a certain age their bodies can be possessed. Only one adult, the teacher, can accompany a class of demon hunter students to hunt demons to keep the world from being overwhelmed. Demons are supposed to be bad, and Angels good.
Then a hunt goes wrong and then Sharen, a kick ass teacher, finds her world turns upside down and nothing is as it seems. The world building stays interesting throughout the story. The romance is of the instant love or more lust variety and accomplishes its goal but its the world building I remember, not the men. There is steam to be had and the book goes by fast. There is an ending but leaves much unsettled and to be explained in future books.
Sharen is a teacher of Demon Hunters, who’s experienced some recent life changing upsets - husband cheating with her sister and death of her best friend Elaina Davena. Sharen has a job to do and that’s making sure as many students graduate with being killed and continue to hunt demons with her team. However on a mission their portal opens to a area with 3 level 10 Demon Kings- Alec, Kade and Ryder. Her team manages to escape, but she leaves a lasting impression on the Demon Alec. Will they find her again and will she be willing to join them?
I love the disclaimer at the start of the book that explains briefly what the genre is and confirming that the books can be read as stand-alone’s.
Renegade Hunter Mates Of The Realms: Mortals Book 1 By: Lacey Carter Andersen. 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
Great storyline. I'm not a fan of the point of view this book is written in. This is written in third person pov, and it's written well as all of Lacey's books are. I've gotten use to first person pov from different characters in the story. Anyhoo, this is still a wonderful read.
Sharen is our bada** female main character. I love her " I can do this" attitude. She refuses to be a victim again. Not sure how she was a victim, but I'm sure we will find out. Sharen is the best demon-hunter in the world. Some huge problems arise when she falls for 3 demons (Alec, Ryder, and Kade). While trying to stay alive, Sharen finds out about deep dark secrets that could change the world 🌎.
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! •••••• ~~ I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ~~
A solid book. A new and interesting story. Reverse harem with three sexy demons and main female. She is a demon hunter and they are demons. She quickly finds out that demons are not what angels have always told her they are.
Overall: 4, Kept my attention, good story, good narrations. Nothing that gave me goose bumps or made me laugh out loud, or cry. but good overall. Fantasy: 3. Not a ton of fantasy for a fantasy novel. There are angles, and demons, and they are talked about, and some powers... Romance: 3: Besides one of the males risking his life to save her, and then her doing the same. She doesn't interact 1:1 at all with the guys. So not a lot of romance building. Humor0: No humor. i love most RH because of the funniest between the males characters. this didn't really have that. The brothers are more broody than funny. Same with the main female lead. Steam4: Steamy scene the first time they met, actually two.. and then another at the end. Not overdone. Narrator:4. She does well, only small thing i noticed is she says Aksd, instead of Ask. Action: 3, i would like to see her kick ass a little more.
The overall story is good. Could have used some more editing for sure. Way too many repeated phrases. I listened to the audiobook while reading and that was even more frustrating. The word 'ask' isn't hard to say. The word is said ass-k, not axe. You would be surprised how many times an author might use that simple word...in this book it's way too often. The narrator says multiple words incorrectly...but that is by far the worst and most used. I got so frustrated I almost didn't keep going. So if you opt for the audiobook, be aware the narrator is possibly stunted as far as literacy but at the least it's grossly mispronounced.
Story wise, just expect a great deal of repetition. She uses the same words and phrases to explain everything. Also, repeats descriptions of places, people, and things way more than is acceptable. The series could easily be 1 book with all the repetition removed.
Sharen is a teacher/leader of the demon hunters. When her and her students enter one of the demon realms in order to kill them, something happens. They escape with their lives but because of one of her students, a personal possession was left behind. It is said that a demon can use an item to control someone on earth in order to escape the demon realm. Alex, Ryder and Kade are brothers who, when they died, they became demons. They know when they find Sharen's personal item that she is meant for them. Weird things happen and Sharen discovers that everything is not as she was told. Not all demons are bad and definitely not all angels are good This story has me hanging onto the edge of my seat wanting more! I love the way the author flips the idea of who is good and evil around 360 degrees. If you like rh stories, give this one a try!
I greatly enjoyed this book! I loved the World it is set in with how they handle demons and going through to different realms and such. The way they teach others to be demon hunters and the process how they handle taking on the missions. The MC is an interesting lady who has been dragged down a bit by life recently and when a missions doesn't go quite the way it should she gets caught up in something she doesn't quite know what to do with but manages it well. I liked her guys and definitely enjoyed the intensity of their relationship. The ending does leave you hanging a bit and I am excited to see what comes next for everyone involved!
I read the books in their single formats, and I won’t lie I liked reading it completed much better. I didn’t have to start and stop for the series. The guys, cause they are so much more than demons, are a great team and read so well. I like that they are a unit and are happy to be with Sharen and have genuine love for her. Each character has depth that can get lost on shorter novels, but not here. Lacey writes beautifully and I like her character development. I am interested in what happens next as I felt like I might have missed something. But I know that this isn’t the last in this series.
Lacey Carter Andersen knocks it out of the park yet again with another greater series. I loved the individual stories so when the boxset came out couldn't wait to read them all at once. It was fast paced with brilliantly times twists and turns shocking revelations and very hot yummy steamy scenes. I love Sharen she has had to deal with a lot the breakdown of her marriage divorce betrayal of her sister and husband and now three sexy demons turn her world upside down and make her question everything she thought she knew. Her journey so far has been so much fun to read about and kept me hooked till the end but I really can't wait for what happens next. Highly recommended get your copy now
Sharen is an awesome demon hunter and instructor. When a student purposely leaves behind something personal of hers in a demon realm, she can then be tracked by the three high level demons find it. It is like a beacon to her. She is their salvation. She initially wants to send them back, but as she learns about the people around her. These demons seem to be the only ones she can trust.
The characters are all extremely lovable in this book. Sharen develops as well as all of the men. Their relationship is shown how it grows in depth and trust. A great start to the series. Can’t wait for book 2.
This was an interesting and very awesome read! I may have neglected work a bit to read it, but it was so worth it! I love the different take on the demon world and how the humans interact with it. Sharen surprised me. She was strong and did not back down at all. I loved it. The guys- Ryder, Alec, and Kade were HOT even in demon form. Their differing personalities made me love the story even more. The sexual parts of the book are HOT and may have had me fanning myself a couple times. There wasn’t so much that it overpowered the awesome story. I’m extremely excited to learn more about Sharen, her past, and how she is going to handle everything. I def recommend this read!
I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I started reading this. The story quickly sucked me in and held me enthralled in its spell. I could not read this book fast enough. I was desperate to find out what would happen next, what other secrets would Sharen uncover. Now that I’ve reached the end of the book and realize that what Sharen stumbled on is part of something so much bigger, I’m dying to get started on the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this through Booksprout as part of the box set.
This is the full story of Sharen and her 3 demon mates. I loved reading about all of Sharen's ups and downs, adventures and the building of the bond between her and her mates. And lets not forget about the steamy romance throughout ;-) This book draws readers in quickly from the first page and keeps them on the edge of their seats until the very end. I can't wait to read more books in this amazing world Lacey Carter Andersen has created!!
I truly enjoyed this story. It was fast-paced and had an interesting concept with good world-building. I loved the twists and turns within the plot. I also really like the character of Sharen. She has been through a lot, and still dealing with a relationship gone wrong. However, she is truly strong, and I enjoyed her journey as she finds new love. Overall, this was a really fun read, and I would highly recommend it.
This was a good way to start this series. I enjoyed Sharen and her demons and I can’t wait to read more. The writing was good. There was exciting battles and tense moments where you just weren’t sure what was going happen. I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait for more. I’d recommend. I requested and received a reader copy and read through KU (to check for error corrections, etc). This is my voluntary, true, and honest opinion.
This is a fast paced, action packed RH. It is packed with demons, hunters, and magic galore. The only thing I did not completely love is how rushed the ending felt. There is a jump forward in time and teasers of what is to come. I wish some of the teasers were scattered more throughout the book, but that is completely a personal preference. Overall, it is very well written and Lacey Carter Anderson pulls the reader in and left me excited for the next book
I loved this story, from the plot line, to the emotional aspects, to the twists you never expect! Sharen and her friends face a life changing revelation that she never expected. I love the way she fights through and accepts what is, under her circumstances most would of failed but her sheer will pushes her through. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. It was a quick read, and once I began to understand the world, it was very enjoyable. I love fresh worlds, but especially worlds that cross over between paranormal and human. How Sharen and her mates end up together is...unconventional, but absolutely adorable at the same time. The world is changing, she has no idea who she is, but she's an ex-demon hunter ready to save it.
This was an intriguing story, lots of originality, which is hard to come by these days with so much out there. I wish there was a little more world building but overall I enjoyed this story very much. I'm loving Sharon and her demons. I can't wait to get to know them more.
I received a free ARC of this book and have voluntarily given an honest review.
Characters: We don’t really get to meet them, especially the men. Setting/Plot: Interesting but needed more world building RH factor: BAM! Burn - means they meet once - sort-of - and are intimate
I expected more of a plot and world building. It was a decent read but I won’t read it again.
I wasn’t sure what to think about this book when I first started it but I’m very happy I stuck with it. Sharen is a great MC and strong demon hunter who’s life gets changed forever when she’s tied to 3 demons by accident. The story is fast paced and has a lot of details. If you like a book with a lot of sexy time you will enjoy this book.
I love how the lines of good and evil are blurred in this story. Sharen learns that there are a lot more than black and white lines drawn when she is betrayed by the very people she works for. Once she learns the truth she becomes more than willing to fight for what she believes is right with her 3 badass demon men to back her up.
This was a great book, it was fun, exciting, and a little bit dirty. I really enjoyed reading this book, the characters are perfect and loveable, they fit well together. The story line was different from other book and I liked that it was new. Definitely can't wait to read the next one.
