I don’t want it to end!

I keep getting to the last page and flipping it back somewhere random to reread the book again. And every time I reach the last page, again, I flip it back. Again. What’s happening to me???

Lol... I want to say it really didn’t seem like much. As in, the way Carlos and Teddy met was a chance and there wasn’t much relationship building and that would typically have me saying exactly that. But honestly though, I didn’t feel like that at all here. Somehow it grew organically without feeling jarring even if they didn’t spend a lot of time together. It wasn’t insta-love and it wasn’t some long drawn out slow burn relationship. But it just works here.

Also, I don’t remember Teddy as some socially inept guy from the previous books. Guess I’m going back to read the prequel and book 1 again! Lol....

I think I’m irrationally in love with this series. It doesn’t seem like this book tied up all its loose ends. But it didn’t matter to me! Perhaps the unwritten was so obvious it didn’t need to be said or I’m just crazy in love with this series that I just. Don’t. Care! Lol...

4 stars for the cover, so yummy! Teddy is a socially awkward alpha who meets Carlos, a latino omega. Carlos is insecure coz his family is from the “wrong side of the tracks” but Teddy doesn’t really notice that. He is just super attracted to Carlos and wants to get to know him for real.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have only read one of the other Frat Boys books however I was still able to enjoy the secondary characters in the book. I adored Carlos and they way he stuck his neck out for people while not trying to use the "do you know who my father is" angle. He didn't strut around like the he was owed something, rather he was humble, sweet, and caring. Teddy is a hoot and I love the fact that these authors gave an Alpha his type of personality. The diversity of the Alpha being the socially awkward one that trips over his words and doesn't really know what to say or how to act in the presence of someone he wants to get to know better is a very nice change to the Alpha/Omega universe. There were a few times in the book that I wondered where the time had gone and felt like I had missed a chapter but the story was too good for that to bother me in the long run. I was cheering in the end for Teddy and his Nana with their handling of Teddy's mother. I will definitely be reading more books by these authors. The narrator was a new one for me and he did a very good job with the different languages and the inflections that made the story an enjoyable listen.

So I had my issues with the first book in the series but ultimately enjoyed the premise to continue. This story however…. It was all over the place.

Between the constant time skips, lack of cohesive scene building, and too much angst - almost everything takes place off page. The romance is barely there, and you basically spend 280 pages being told about things happening rather than experiencing them. Throughout the entire story we’re told all these random little facts that mean nothing, only for none of them to ever be brought up again.

This series had promise but at this point I don’t know if I can continue to be disappointed.

I liked Teddy and I liked Carlos. Overall, I liked the story, but there were some things that I thought were somewhat problematical.

The premise was really good, absent-minded, awkward alpha Teddy meets omega Carlos, who is working hard as a landscaper while he goes to school to be a civil engineer. They are attracted to each other, and nature takes its course. It's good bones for a book.

One of the problems with it is that there is a large time jump that isn't really explained. We go from Teddy and Carlos having had sex to Carlos being a couple of months pregnant with no explanation as to what happened in between those times. The closest we get is that they were texting and stopped. Nothing else. I would like to know what happened in between that time. I think it would've made for a better story.

It's a light story, without a lost of angst or drama, and one that is a satisfactory way to burn a couple of hours.

This is the second book in the Frat Boys Baby series.

Alpha Teddy Connelly is a prodigy in the architecture world. His social skills are another story. He is what some would call socially inept. He does not care for what is considered the social norm. Teddy is a workaholic and he focuses on his work so much that being social isn't even on his radar most of the time. He his frat brothers and his work are all he needs...or so he thinks.

Omega Carlos Ramirez grew up in a rough neighborhood surrounded by gangs. He didn't want to have to live that life so he decided to get an education and get the hell of his rough neighborhood. He is less than a year away from graduating college with an engineering degree. He works as a landscaper while going to school and helps his mom out a lot.

Teddy and Carlos meet under interesting circumstances. Carlos intervenes when Teddy is being mugged by a couple of guys Carlos knows from the neighborhood. Teddy has no idea the danger he is facing, almost like he doesn't understand it, and his lack of response, makes Carlos think that Teddy must be crazy.

Teddy has always been attracted to Carlos and he strikes up a conversation with him as Carlos walks him to where Teddy needs to go. Teddy can't believe he is finally talking to the guy he has been crushing on since he first came to town. However, he is discouraged from pursuing anything when Carlos tells him that he thinks that he is crazy because he thinks that Teddy's social ineptness is really him being mental. But he takes a chance and asks Carlos out and Carlos agrees.

It becomes clear pretty quickly that Carlos thinks that he is not good enough for Teddy because of where he grew up and still lives. He questions why a guy like Teddy, who obviously has money, would be interested in someone like Carlos. He thinks that Teddy is just slumming it by wanting to hook up with Carlos. Teddy works very hard to convince Carlos otherwise, and he refuses to give up. Slowly Carlos starts seeing that Teddy, with all his wealth and sophistication, is a truly genuine person.

I just loved reading this story and finding out more about Teddy. It was so endearing to me how he was socially awkward and naive in a way. For a grown man to see so much good in people amazed me. My heart went out to him when I saw how his family perceived him and more importantly, how they treated him. It was just horrible. Thank God he has his grandmother, who is an absolute hoot. I enjoyed their interactions. Teddy and Carlos were a great match. They complimented each other in all the right ways. I am falling in love with this series more and more. I can't wait to see whose book is next.

I went into this book without any expectations. I had never read an Aiden Bates book so I was open to what this story would offer. The premise itself was nice and the setup of the characters was also well done. Bates can write and for that I will give him props. However, the rest of the book left me feeling unsatisfied.

There is one sex scene from which I inferred that Carlos had gotten pregnant. It is never specifically said outright that this was when conception happened or if it was during some other time not 'on page'. So if you are going into a book that features mpreg thinking that you'll get some sex as well, it did not happen with Building a Family.

A few other issues that led to my lower rating include:
- A lack of an explanation as to the differences between alpha's and omegas
- A lack of explanation as to why the two are 'segregated' - there was a line about it being taboo to have alphas and omegas together... I would have loved to see this dynamic/subject developed further to add to the star-crossed lovers trope. Instead, it was diverted into a 'wrong side of the tracks' trope.
- A lack of explanation as to why Teddy's parents [general family] all hated him and behaved horribly. It almost felt like they HAD to be mean to him to show how rich families aren't perfect and only care about money... This stereotype held throughout the book.
- A weak climactic scene that held no true emotion.
- Why was Carlos' father so important? That was super glossed over and held in a weirdly high level of importance that had no effect on the development of the story.

Final notes:
- Told in alternating third person
- Mpreg

It seems as though in this book both the author's dropped a lot of the previous complaint that I had pertaining to the word 'says'. This book seemed to flow better than the previous books which is always a plus. When an author improves that means that the series is on the right path.

We met Theodore back in Trust Fund Baby (Frat Boys Baby, #1) by Aiden Bates he is awkward but kind of clairvoyant. Which is how he got the name brujo 🧙🏻‍♂️ from Carlos. There was nothing really explained about him but we did get a little bit of teaser of what he does for a living. In this book we got to see more of the awkwardness and what makes him tick which is always a plus.

Carlos is just a normal guy trying to be better for not only himself but his mother. The romance was 100% believable. There was a crazy plot occurring in the background but like in the previous book this book was unfinished. The way that this book ended left a lot to be desired. I have no idea what it is with the author's but I'm going to need them to complete an entire book because there are a lot of loose ends that are starting to drive me nuts.

For this book they changed the narrator and I don't know how I feel about that. The narrator, Danny Céspedes, read this book a bit fast for me. He did get all the accents and all the nuances correct but it just seemed as though he wanted to power through and not take his time with the story. I'm not going to say he's horrible but I really wish that he would have slowed down a bit and not have ran through the book as though he had better things to do.

(Also available in a box set of the completed series. Just be sure to read Frat Boys Baby Book o.5 first!!)

Book Two of one of the best mpreg series I’ve read so far.

I really liked the continuation of this series with a really good look at Teddy the more introverted of the Frat Boyz bunch, but he’s a killer cookie maker! I found the relationship between him and Carlos to be definitely different from the usual mpreg romance theme, probably because Carlos is as un-omega as they get. But who is to call Carlos a submissive when he’s such a big, hard, hard-working construction builder? Well, not necessarily in his face, I guess. But when you’re trying to stay out of the gangs, you can’t be a wimp.

What I love about this novel is the inclusion of all the other frat boys playing important rolls as well as what I would think would be just side characters (which I find out later will be included in some of the other novels in this series! How rich!). This isn’t an easy thing to do, but having read the entire series, I do appreciate the hard work these two writers have done.

This is definitely a book (as well as the entire series) I’d go back and reread in the future. (And I have done so once already!)

I cannot explain how much I loved this book! I opened it, started reading, and did not want to put it down! Teddy is just so awesome with his socially awkward ways that I just laughed out loud a few times. It is really screwed up how his family is and treated him though. I also loved how he got so involved in his work because he truly cared for the people he was helping. Not to mention Teddy's grandmother...she was a hoot and just what he needed. Carlos was so sweet working to help his mom, working as a landscaper and going to school for engineering. At first he just thought Teddy was cray-cray but as time when on he began to admire his quirkiness. It made me so sad that he thought Teddy wouldn't want him when he got pregnant and how Teddy just manned up and handled it...as well as his family!!

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see the next in the series. I was offered this book as an ARC copy to provide an honest review which I believe I have done. Such a good continuation of an awesome series...take a chance, you will not be sorry!

Wanted to like it.

I tried. And while it wasn’t the worst story I’ve read from the Bates Brothers, it wasn’t for me. Teddy was the alpha but seemed more like the omega - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I feel like he just rolled over ALL THE TIME. He was sweet and caring and I did like him. I just wish he was a little more. Carlos I didn’t like. He was, in my opinion, very selfish and self centered. EVERYTHING revolves around him and his wants. He had a chip in his shoulder, which you could kind of understand, but the way he took it out in teddy and the he treated was uncalled for. He limped the guy in with every other alpha that had used or tried to use him. I know they had to portray Carlos as the tough as nails character, but some bend and some kindness would have been a good way to even it out so you liked his character. The book also seemed to jump forward with little warning. I didn’t like that because I felt like I was missing something.
There wasn’t any cheating or jealousy, which I loved. There was a hea. And a good ending where it left you curious about the other Frat boys.

Second installment in the Frat Boys Baby series. This one features Teddy and his love interest Carlos. The two couldn't be more different. Teddy is a successful architect but socially inept. Carlos is poor engineering student who lives in the hood and the son of a gang leader. There first impression isn't the greatest but the two are mutually attracted to each other. Carlos thinks it's a bad idea to get involved with Teddy because of his social standing. Teddy really really likes Carlos is willing to pursue him till he wins him over.

I really enjoyed this story and I think it's my favorite by the author(s) by far. Teddy and Carlos were really likeable characters and I loved their interaction with each other. Teddy's awkwardness paired really well with the outspoken Carlos. Again I also liked seeing the interaction between frat brothers and seeing them be so supportive and helpful to their fellow frat brother. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next installment turns out.

AN ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really good story that packs a double wallop with sweet romance and danger. Teddy, one of the frat brothers is on a job to build some low income housing in the same town his Nanna lives. Things are moving slower than they should be and frustration reigns. Carlos an omega, is exhausted. Going to school to be an engineer, working as a landscaper, and helping his community whenever he can leaves little time for sleep. Carlos saves Teddy from a couple of lions on Carlos home turf and he talks them out of hurting Teddy. Sparks fly and Mpreg results. Teddy is connect to his fellow frat brothers when asking for advice. Soon Teddy finds that something is illegal going on and he puts both himself and Carlos in jeopardy. Also things aren't going well with Teddy's parents, especially his mother. An excellent story and series. Would recommend it to anyone to read.

I'm a lose case when it comes to a family that doesn't have blood relation.

I can feel it. The way Teddy really wants to connect with Carlos. And the little spice of humour in this novel? Sure makes me giggles!

Too bad there is a missing gap from their second date (isn't it?) to the pregnancy. I mean somehow it had already months and Carlos was pregnant.
Another thing, when I read first chapter I thought there will be some kind of "gang fights" between Wolves and Lions, like for example mafias' dispute?
I won't mind the Wolves and Lions if there is any conclusion... And there is that Jose kid and his brother.

How I wish I can see Victor and Chuy develop a romance... (???)

Rushed

Love the stories created by the Bates brothers, but the ending seemed unfinished. And as I continually comment, EDITING at some points doesn't even correct partial sentences that make no sense. And once in a while throw in a name. He, he, he, after the 5 he in a row I don't know who is the he doing/ saying/ etc. And saying this was a stand alone, even tho its a series, is not true. There is no background to familiarize the reader to everything and everyone. Also, the beginning of the book isnt straight forward enough to set the reader up to know what's going on. Despite all the reasons this book needed another month before it was ready for publication, I'll buy the next one in the series. These guys have me hooked.

Loved it!

These college frat brothers are just so adorable, caring and funny it makes you want to just have friends just like them. Although you can read each book separately, I suggest you read them to understand all the different personalities each of them have.

Teddy, the architect, has weird quirks about himself. But this doesn't stop Carlos from finding the alpha adorable and sexy. Teddy can't keep his eyes off the landscaper either. So when a presumably one night stand ends up being more Carlos has to learn how to give up his doubts of Teddy not wanting him and trust. Teddy only fear is what will his grandmother think when he tells her his gay.

The book has its normal drama but a beautiful love story nonetheless. A great read.

Teddy & the lion

I loved this book, getting to see the inside of Teddy's mind and who he was was interesting. Plus seeing such opposites between the men was far too exciting to miss.

Character breakdown;

Teddy: I thought he was odd from the first book and the others that followed (I read book 4 & 5 before this one) so it was good to see what made him tick and what was really going on with his "magic" powers lol.

Carlos: I loved Carlos, his cursing like a sailor and the jokes he made. I especially loved how he warmed up to Teddy and learned to love his corcky ways.

Great book, very funny with some hard life points and a slight action scene lol. Every page will suck you in.

This was a fun, entertaining story. There were a few parts that were a bit OTT, but overall, it was enjoyable. Teddy was completely adorable and while Carlos was a bit prickly at first and I thought Teddy was too good for him, they had chemistry and worked well together. They were so different from what Alphas and Omegas are generally and I found that a refreshing change.

The narration was really good. Danny Céspedes has a nice timbre and he managed to give every character a distinctive voice, which is something that I particularly like to find in the audiobooks I pick up to listen. My favorites were definitely Theo and his grandma (especially that last scene with Theo's mother), though. Danny did a great job bringing them to life.

Recommendable!

This is sweet, with almost zero angst, until the end, when it dramatically increases for reasons unrelated to the couple, but, wow! Unexpected danger!

In truth, this is a great mpreg-omegaverse romance with an unlikely couple that, somehow, really works in a way that is totally organic and despite the circumstances, feels real.

Another thing I truly enjoyed was that it was the alpha the one socially awkward, which was such a nice change on the usual dynamics on this type of story =D

And Danny Céspedes is a new voice for me, but he was simply perfect for this story and did a great job with the different accents and idioms in his narration. I'm looking forward to more works having him as their voice =D

Ohhhh I love the Frat Boys and their amazing relationship! Teddy was incredibly charming - in a very nonsensical and weird way but I loved him, as a character who supports and was always there for his friends he was amazing. Here Teddy didn't disappoint, he was serious and awkward and probably in his own world. Carlo, on the other hand, was always very down to Earth and very relatable. I loved their relationship and their problem less life. Yes, they had their families not always supporting but their friends and those who did support them were amazing.

I need Marcus, Kurt and Cody's book ASAP please!

I really enjoyed this one except for the pretty significant time jump. We are having sex & then Carlos is 3 mths pregnant and they are not having any contact & that was just weird. But other than that I really enjoyed it. I loved that Teddy, the alpha, was totally socially inept. And Carlos was the bad&&& omega. I hated Teddy's mother & have no wish to see her ever again :) Loved his grandmother. I haven't read the other books in the series & I can't wait to as I want to know more about them. Danny Céspedes is a new to me narrator & I enjoyed him very much.

"Opposites attract" and boy is that true in this terrific addition! Carlos, outspoken and brash and definitely from the wrong side of the track is an Omega with a attitude. Teddy an architect that is physically attracted to Carlos but is hesitant because of Carlos' "affiliations". The back and forth of their emotions, the snarky attitude and the all out "heat" that they can't escape make this one book you won't set down till you know that they will have a happily ever after, add in the frat brothers and love is on the horizon! Such a cute story.

I really enjoy this authors books so was looking forward to reading this one and I wasn't disappointed.

My favourite character had to be Teddy who was just so cute and funny and let's not forget his forgetfulness. Carlos is the perfect opposite of Teddy having been raised in a gang infested town. When Teddy finds the courage to ask Carlos out it leads to a one night stand or maybe two or three. Carlos discovers he's pregnant and Teddy's reaction is funny as well as his reaction when the baby is born. Definitely worth a read. Recommended.

Teddy comes from a rich family. However, his family is a complete mess. The only person who is worthy is Nana, his grandmother.
Carlos comes from a poor family whose mother has to work a lot. He is a student and does landscaping to get some money.
A story about opposite attraction. Teddy and Carlos are totally different but at the same time, they have a lot of things in common. They are good people, honest and caring.
One of the things I like more in the book is the interactions of Teddy with his Frat mates.

Sweet and delightful with all the feels. I absolutely fell in love with both the MC's and the supporting characters were so well drawn. Well written with a great story-line and touchable characters create a story that will keep you reading in one sitting.

i love Teddy and Carlos's interactions and they fit together so believably well. The frat brothers and family really create a rich story that creates a place that i want to visit.

Highly recommend!

This was almost a 3.5...

I LOVED Teddy. Love, love loved him. He was adorable, and hilarious. And for the most part, I liked Carlos. I didn't care for how he ran from Teddy. Actually, that's why it was almost a 3.5. He spent too long running and almost purposefully misunderstanding Teddy's intentions.

Otherwise - how is this the second book where one of these Frat bros has used a condom and still knocked their partner up? Do they have magic sperm or something?

This was an overall good story of an alpha and an omega, Teddy and Carlos. Carlos and Teddy are not your typical pair, they are complete opposites and go through many obstacles to get their HEA. They do complement one another and have a good connection. The narrator did a good job with the characters and the story itself. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I honestly think this book was too short. Once we got over the major hump things were going at lightning speeds and then all of the sudden it was over. I liked how different Teddy and Carlos were but I think there was were things that were never talked about and just brushed over. There is definitely some plot holes that could have been handled differently to give us more. Overall it was a nice book and I feel compelled to read the others in the series.
