Bold Surrender

Rate this book
--Single Woman Overcomes Stereotypes to Manage Plantation in the Early America Romance Adventure, Bold Surrender, by Judith French--

In a time when women are seen and not heard, Ashley Morgan fights prejudice, nature, pirates, and the British Empire to hold on to her Maryland plantation, and her independence. And if success requires she hire a male overseer to ship her crops to England, she will find one willing to work for a woman.

Brought to America as a bondservant, Scotsman Kelt Saxon has fought his way to freedom. Obtaining a position as plantation overseer was beyond expectation. Answering to a woman seems beyond possibility, especially a beautiful woman who has already stolen his heart, while refusing to surrender her own.

Publisher's Note: An impeccably researched, masterful work that tells the tale of adventure, strife and romance in the pre-dawn of a new nation. Readers who enjoy quality historical romance by authors such as Colleen French, Christi Caldwell, Lauraine Snelling, Adriana Trigiani, Mary Balogh, Sabrina Jeffries, Candace Camp and Stephanie Lauens will enjoy this historical fiction series. Bold Surrender, in the Triumplant heart series is d 3rd book which i ve read ..books by Judith French never disappoint. This is another good read, but d previous 2 books were better.
this story is set in Maryland in the 1740's is a high adventure romance...the description about plantation life in the 1700s,and lots of information about Native American and European culture in d victorian era is fascinating...
Ashley Morgan is a strong woman running a tobacco plantation inherited from her grandfather, however things r working against her , mainly due to her unmarried status and because she is attempting to handle her affairs on her own...d reason also being a bias against women who were independently trying to establish themselves in society ...
She is forced to hire a male overseer to conduct plantation business on her behalf... Kelt Saxon is a Scot, and a victim of politics in his homeland. Here in the Maryland colony, he's an indentured servant, his bond not yet redeemed. He's as headstrong, determined, and used to getting his way.
Sparks fly between both d strong willed couple and the two fight over the running of the plantation even as they fall in love...
I also loved the secondary characters - the pirate Gentleman Jim,Cecily , Mari the Algonquin medicine woman, d pirate angle very interesting... only d length of d story was too extended ...many plots ...so sometimes got bored ...tired ...reading so many details ...following too many characters...

As always with Ms French's previous books, bold Surrender is well researched and the characters well developed... her penmanship is par excellence... her story presentation very life like can visualize it...she doesnt disappoint her readers...good work Judith

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. Ashley the female heroine in the story is a strong independent women who runs a plantation in the 1700s (which was not normal for a female to do in this era). She faces a lot of criticism from her male counterparts who feel a woman doesn't have the ability to run anything let alone a plantation. Kelt a former bondman is the new overseer who comes to work for her. He does not like working for a woman and feels he has been deceived. The story is full of action, suspense and love.

This book captured my imagination and my heart from page one! What an enticing romantic duo: a stubborn, independent female owner of a tobacco plantation who quickly butts heads with a former bondsman from the highlands of Scotland, hired by her solicitor as overseer to said plantation. Ms. French's story is full of action, angst, suspense, and colorful characters. I never came to a good stopping place, and I was hooked on every word until the very end. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery and this is my honest review, given voluntarily.

Ashley Morgan was a woman who was more suited to the west for that time period. But her grandfather raised to run the plantation and so she decided she would never give up control. Along comes Kelt Saxon to become overseer, because Ashley can't get sea captains to deal with a woman. As Kelt and Ashley get to know each other through working together and their misadventures, love develops. This story takes you on some heartrending  and truth revealing adventures. The story is compelling and I stayed to the end.

When I first read the description of the story, I was not sure if I would like it or not. But right from the first chapter to the last was very entertaining. I actually read 6 chapters before I put it down. Because of company.
I think this story hit every emotion right down to a little gore. But a beautiful love story. Definitely a mused read. "I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review."

This is the third in the series that I have read and it is by far the best. It is a good paced story with plenty of action. There is just the right amount of descriptive detail to set the scene. I enjoyed the interaction between Kelt and Ashley. It includes the everyday life of a plantation, the relationship with England and the taxes, and even pirate action. A really entertaining read. I was given a copy by eBooks Discovery and have voluntarily and honestly reviewed it.

Bold Surrender, set in Maryland in the 1740's is a high adventure romance. Ashley has inherited her grandfather's plantation, however everything is working against her, mainly due to her unmarried status and because she is attempting to handle her affairs on her own. Her attorney employs an overseer on her behalf, and the brawny Scotsman is more man than Ashley is used to dealing with. The relationship between Ashley and Kelt is dynamic and despite their differences in status, Kelt is not a man to be held back by a woman who wields power, and he makes his own demands on Ashley. There are forces working against Ashley and she finds that her life is in danger from more than one source. As the story escalates towards a climatic ending, the violence also escalates and Ashley has to keep her wits about her.

As with Ms French's previous books, bold Surrender is well researched and the characters well developed. There are a number of characters and each one is important to the story. I found the violence difficult to read, however, it did form an integral part of the story. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

I enjoyed every bit of this book. Ashley Morgan is the mistress of Morgan's fancy after the death of her grandfather, but soon found out its a man's world when it comes to business and dealing with others. Due to the difficulty, she had to hire an overseer against her will. When Kelt, the overseer came, she found out she had more to deal with because he is more man than she thought, they got attracted to each other, she fought against it initially. but along the way, she had to fight against many other enemies and threats to her life. Its a nice read. "I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review".

I received a copy of this book from ebook discovery in exchange for an honest review.

Having been taught from an early age that she had to stand on her own two feet and not to trust any man Ashley Morgan is in a bind once her grandfather dies as it is still a mans world out there where no one will treat her fairly. Finally accepting that the plantation must have an overseer Kelt Saxon arrives...only to find that his boss is not Master Morgan but Mistress Morgan. Watching the two learn to cope with all this entails makes for an enjoyable read.
