This is the first historical fiction I've ever read, and I loved it! The writing is so descriptive, evocative, and poetic, and the plot was utterly gut-wrenching. Seint planted my love and curiosity for the Konbaung dynasty aesthetics and the political intrigues.

I love how the main character gets pulled into a web of deceit and glamour and ends up ruined by the court.
