Michael Pierce’s Royal Replicas 4: Royal Return is a wonderful conclusion to a really fantastic series. Both this book and the series on the whole are easily worth five stars. This ending had just what I wanted, was well written, with a great plot full of magic and adventure. I have quite simply vine to adore both Victoria and Prince Byron, and really loved watching how they developed over the course of the series. Ditto for the supporting characters (hello Kale) who were simply superb, whether good or evil. What more I could one ask for?
Unfortunately, I’m in a hospital and asked my husband to post this since I don’t have the time or ability right now to do better - even though the book definitely deserves it.
Highly recommended, with the caveat that while you could read this standalone you’re much better starting off from book 1.
This series was amazing. I loved the conclusion to the series. I can say it was none stop action from book 1 to book 4. I am sad to see the series end but happy it ended the way it did.
Wow, this book was the perfect ending to an amazing, action and romance packed story. Thank you Michael for allowing me to be on your High Counsel and giving me an advanced copy of these books.
I am not entirely sure what to say about this book, except that it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time (even though I was a little irritated that Victoria kept getting captured, but I loved how it kind of broke that wall and she expressed how she was irritated as well). I would have been able to devour this book in a single day, like I did the last book, but I decided against it, knowing that I enjoy books more when I stretch them out into multiple days, giving me time to think about everything.
And my final thoughts about this book and this series as a whole? Loved every minute of it. I was excited to read this book ever since the huge cliffhanger in book 3, and knew that this book was going to be amazing with Victoria as well as some of her other sisters being mind controlled. Also, it was much more enjoyable for me because whenever there is some kind of love triangle in any story, I always seem to pick the wrong guy, and have to sit through a whole series of a couple I don't even ship, BUT in this book, I was proudly Team Bryon since day 1. I couldn't wait to see how this book and series ended with Bryon and Victoria getting their happily ever after, and no this is not a spoiler. I believe in book 2 or beginning of 3 it was stated who she had feelings for.
But if I can say 1 thing about Kale, it is that I was actually a little bummed how he went from being a major character (as much as someone could be a major character without getting their POV) to such a minor character in this series. But I mean, 100% yes, I would rather read from Bryon's POV, but Kale also played a huge roll in this series, and it was sad to see him fade away, even from most of the action. Also, when the author introduced a new love interest for Kale (not to spoil anything), it made so much sense...but at the same time I was like, "when did this happen?" As a character, and as a brother figure, I loved Kale, even though I did love the triangle aspect in book 1 (even though Kale seemed more like a stalker to me). I am happy that he gets his happily ever after as well.
And just going back to the book itself, there was so much going on and was happy that it wasn't easy to get Victoria back to her normal self. That it took more than one try.
But my FAVORITE part of this whole book was the dialogue between Bryon and Finneus. No matter how dark the scene was playing out in front of them, you could always count on them to be the comic relief. My favorite scene being;
"'What do you see?' Finneus asked, directly behind me. 'Death,' I said. 'Anything more uplifting?' 'No one actively shooting at us. Does that work for you?' 'Yeah, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.'"
It is random, but I always found myself laughing to myself, even when someone had just died. Btw, there was so much death in this book, especially with some major minor characters, and I don't know how I was able to process of of this. It might have been from Bryon and Finneus's serious but comedic conversations.
Overall, I loved everything about this series and this is a perfect ending. But I word of warning, it is very emotional.
I guess the only thing left to say is, Good Luck! It is worth the read!
The final book of the Royal Replicas series. Things were tied up and I can honestly say the book has me on the edge of my seat. Pick up the series and give it a try.
I'm just going to start off saying by this was a bittersweet ending of the Royal Replicas series for me. Why? Because I journeyed along with Victoria, Kale, Prince Byron and the rest of the gang from beginning to end. From the first book to this one, the author had kept me chomping at the bit to find out what would happen with Victoria's tale. I felt as if I was either rooting for her or shaking my head at her incessant need to run into a situation first and then ask questions later. While Victoria was smart and brave, she was also quite naive and sometimes I just wanted to shake her awake! Of course I loved Victoria dearly in Royal Return as well as the other 3 books. She was a beautiful means to an end so to speak. An innocent thrust into a world where she thought she was a nobody, but later revealed to be a pawn in a twisted game of the royals. However, it is because of her dauntless naivete that she is able to come out of it all a winner and the champion. But alas, my most favorite character - and whom I think had the most character growth - was Prince Byron. Byron was introduced in the first couple of books as more or less a safeguard to be used by Queen Dorothea and his own family. In the beginning of the Royal Replicas series I felt he was kind of a pushover, a mere royal heir who only did what was told of him rather than stand up for his own beliefs. But as the stories progressed, so did Byron's personality and will. He started to realize that he was played by both the Queen of Westeria and his parents, who are rulers of the kingdom of Easteria. Tired of all the diplomacy that he had to play for Queen Dorothea, he soon learned of a dire plot made by the Queen. And that's when his journey of growth really began. By the end of the fourth book, Royal Return, Byron became my most favorite character. I recommend you read all four books to get a true feel of the entire story. While Royal Replicas definitely left with a good ending, I was a bit saddened that it ended. But with all great series, one has a hard time of letting go because of the devotion spent in caring about these characters and their plights. Each character in the story - major or minor has some sort of battle that they have to fight so it makes reading their thoughts and choices a lot of fun. Some characters you get attached to while some you were glad they were gotten rid of! Overall, Royal Replicas had a wonderful ending with a surprising twist that could possibly lead to a spinoff...hint, hint, Michael! :) Thank you again for the wonderful opportunity to read Royal Return, the final installment of the Royal Replicas series.
This is the last book in a great series. The conclusion was great and didn't feel rushed. This whole series had me interested from the very first book. There was a lot of death in this book...some main characters and supporting characters. I was kind of annoyed that Prince Byron was a weak character at first and that Victoria was doing the saving, but in the end, it turned out pretty great. Victoria was a girl who is strong, brave, and a bit naive at times who found her purpose (even though her bravery and rash decisions got her captured a lot). Prince Byron stepped up and became a pretty strong character.
There was so many inventive and creative ideas in this series that the author came up with, such as the drones who scanned the faces of the recipients before delivering messages or the mind control of the clones. The continuous plot twists and story line kept me on the edge of my seat during the whole series.
I really liked the dialogue between the Prince Byron and Prince Finneus. Finneus was such a funny character. I would love to read more on him...Perhaps who he ends up with, who takes over the kingdom of Easteria, etc...Maybe add a little Kale in there...Does Kale end up with Victoria's step-sister?
I did enjoy reading the different POV's of Victoria and Prince Byron. I felt like I got to know him better, which made me like his character more. I recommend this series if you like a mix of The Selection, Hunger Games, and a twisted version of Cinderella.
I was so excited to read the conclusion of this series. I have loved it up to this point and Royal Return did not disappoint. It had a little bit of everything but seemed to go so fast. There was action, surprises, closure and more. I liked that things did not always go according to the plan. There was a question as to how on earth this was going to work out. Along with the excitement there were moments that were heart breaking and moments that were sweet and tender. Overall I felt the ending was fitting for Victoria, Byron and Kale. Although I would have enjoyed a little more involvement from Kale. I loved the addition of Finneus and his banter with Byron. I feel there could be more for another series set in the same world. Maybe in Easteria next time with a whole lot of Finneus. The conclusion was not exactly as I expected but what I had hoped for. I would definitely recommend this series. I really enjoyed it. It was unique and exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing what the author does next.
I just wanted to start off by saying that I am sad to see this series end. I am so very grateful to have been a part of Micheal Pierce’s review team and to have read this epic journey of a story. Even though I am sad for the end, Micheal Pierce did end it beautifully.
Of course it was so good I read it all in one sitting. The final book is packed full of action, lots of battling and fighting. It had me on edge the whole time, hoping that my favorite characters wouldn’t get killed off. Even though everyones world is falling apart all the characters really try to stick together and ultimately help Victoria and the Princess. The AI was definitely interesting and a different twist to this series and it had a couple of new characters I really liked as well. But Micheal Pierce has always been great at making likeable characters, even the evil ones.
I definitely recommend this series if you love dystopian, action, a little bit of steampunk feel and some romance. Also if you don’t mind lots of violence. You will love this series and Victoria’s journey.
I thought this was probably the best book of the series. The first part, with Victoria having an internal struggle with her new captor, was especially good. The action was fast moving but easy to follow. Character's motivations made sense. Byron became more of an individual for me.
For the most part, things were wrapped up well. I was left wondering if the new way of things will really end up being all that better than the old based on how easily Victoria & Co. took the law into their own hands a few times. The Kale ending seemed a bit forced, but then I felt the brother/sister way of looking at things was a stretch. To me it seemed he was probably about as related to who he ends up with as he was to Victoria.
Like the rest of the series, there is a fair amount of violence here (poisoning, torture, shooting) though not all of it is completely described. Some language, no actual sex.
Overall, I thought the series ended very well. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Wow, this book had as many twist and turns as the rest of the series. I really had a hard time putting it down. The sisters have gone thru so much. The Doctors that are trying to rule the kingdom. Can they ever beat the doctors? Will the real princes Amelia ever heal from what the doctors did to her? Will Prince Byron ever be acquitted from being accused of killing the queen? Can Victoria ever be safe to love prince Byron? So much that goes on in this story I just don't want to give away all the details. So I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did. I received an arc copy for my honest review.
A grand ending for the Royal Replicas. I just loved the way Victoria and her sisters change through the books. They forge their beliefs and their moral with each fold and events. Their is a special bitter-sweet chapter at the end of the book that shows it very well. Actually the same could be said with all characters. It was interesting to see how the actions of the civil war between the different factions impacted the rest of the kingdom despite their ignorance of what is really going on behind the scenes. Everything in the plot was subject to reflexion and Michael Pierce write it very well.
AMAZING! What an ending to a fantastic series! I am honestly sad that it is over, but also completely blown away by the fabulous work that Michael Pierce had put into this. I anxiously awaited this final installment and I am not disappointed in the slightest. I read it in one sitting front start to finish. I will miss Victoria, Byron and the entire crew, but I am pleased to have found a great series that I couldn't put down. Great Job!
Although this book is not any worse then the other three, it's an awful conclusion to the series. Pretty much nothing happens. There are only a couple of "fights" that are unrealistic and don't really add anything to the plot. Conclusions are supposed to wrap things up, and this book does none of that. I just didn't like it at all.
What an unbelievable ending to a superb story. Victoria and the Prince and the rest of the gang, such wonderful characters to make a story impossible to put down. Received a free copy and reviewed because I enjoyed the book.
Not my cup of tea, honestly. Couldn't warm up to characters after 4 books and that's it. I read 25% of it. It still goes in my read / dropped lists because I wasted a lot of precious minutes skimming through the pages to get the gust of the story which I did without any confusion.
The sisters revolt! But it’s not as easy as it seems. They have been oppressed for too long and by those they should have been able to trust. It’s been so hard for the sisters. A lot action and battles in this book. I was rooting for them all the way and for those who were fighting for them. I liked the romance also. It provided a little reprieve amongst all the shootings and running from the bad guys. A few twists I didn’t see coming also. Some good, some not so good. All in all this was an enjoyable book to read. It kept me hooked from the first page to the last.
Because there are so many lookalikes it’s sometimes confusing to make out who is who. And when they are also controlled it is unclear how or by whom. This makes it all the more thrilling!
There’s a surprising ending to the story!
I am relieved and disappointed that it has come to an end. But isn’t that the case with all good books?
3.5/5 By far the best paced novel of the series. We didnt spend time moping around; rather we jumped from event to event at a great rate. I honestly had no idea how things were going to wrap up so I enjoyed the journey. It was a solid conclusion, wrapping up all the lingering questions wonderfully.
Like the other three books in the series it has quite a bit of “here we go again” to the story, but in the end had more surprises than I expected given the previous books. Overall a pretty good story, though probably not a series I will choose to read again.
